Why the hatred? I recommend you read the book, even if for expanding your horizons. Books do that, you know...

I pre ordered the book here in the UK from Amazon UK and it arrived my house 2 days ago. Got two copies, giving one away to an inlaw.

This morning, i scanned page 156 that talked about the "Ogbunigwe" (interpreted "Mass Killer") and how it put the fear of the devil in Nigerian Soldiers. Said Nigerian soldiers actually started putting cattle ahead of them to take the explosions.

I'm sure it will make an interesting read.

PropertiesRe: Pls Help, Is Lusada A Good Place To Buy Land. by Whitehorse: 3:57pm On Aug 24, 2012
@bebe,

i just ran into your thread while searching for some rentals rates for properties in/around badagry.

As a background, i have some plots of land just after Agbara, along badagry expressway, and one just after Lusada.

I've been around the "estates" in the Agbara/Lusada axis,and i can comfortably tell you that the ones from a company called Strategic shelters are the best, especially their Royal Palm estate. Lots of some of those so called estates are glorified omo onile's.

Now to your question, i bought a property in an Estate called Royal Palms estate, its a few minutes away from Lusada. They have an 18 month payment period,the plot i bought cost N2.8M. Dont know if its changed. They have regulations on how/what you can build, so its not an anyhow thing. They seem pretty organised. I know the owner of the company, and i've been on their estate site twice in the past 18months whenever i'm in the country.

I dont know if its the sort of thing you want, but you can contact them on their website. If you need more info/clarification, let me know ok.

Their website is http://strategicshelter.com/

PoliticsRe: Mark My Words - Military Goverment Would Take Over . by Whitehorse: 11:54am On Jul 20, 2012
@KPAC

Is the same military man that had a Colonel drive on the BRT? Of is the same military who's boys attacked LASTMA yesterday? Nonesense!

The military destroyed Nigeria, engendered Federal character, created lopsided states and local governments, carried out retroactive jailings and killings, emasculated the Nigerian police etc. Need i say more?

God forbid that the military should ever take power again in Nigeria!

PROUD-IGBO:
Nice effort Spyder. Don't forget to try and take pics of old GRA as well.

I think the red earth of Enugu makes the streams and Nike Lake to have a reddish colour. I remember when i used to travel to Enugu, my shoes soon get coated in reddish dust. This earth colour makes it necessary for the streets to be swept on a regular basis. Port Harcourt on the other hand has a bright beach-sand kind of earth.
This reminds me of when we were in Enugu last easter, when we got to Nsukka, my four year old son refused to get out of the car. He said "daddy, there is mud on the ground, my shoe will get mud". Na Enugu soil the boy dey call mud. lol. We had to carry him most of the time we were in Enugu. This children sef, we need to dey bring them home often o, d boy never see mud for scotland before. lol

@one.east,

The days of opening a small shop is gradually coming to an end. The earlier we recognise that fact and adapt the better. Shoprite , Walmart and co will wipe them out, its just a matter of time.

As per celebrating mediocrity, I think you missed it big time. Spyder's post has been fairly balanced I'd say. Please post your suggestions on how to improve the rural areas you mentioned

Guys,
ESWAMA stands for Enugu State WAste Management Authority. Looks like they are not doing any work though...

Why cant the state government privatise waste collection? It would be more efficient if its run as a business. Just my thoughts

PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Whitehorse: 5:11pm On Jul 01, 2012
Onlytruth: Mr Spyder880, thanks for starting this thread because we the diaspora Igbo will like constant update on how our land is shaping up for the 21st century.
Please QUICKLY post pictures, and make sure you include pictures of Enugu International Airport. If you don't have them, please get them because that is what would keep this thread here in the politics section. If you don't add pictures of that airport, this thread will likely end up in the travel/tourism section.
I would like to believe that the aim of this thread is to challenge/encourage our politicians to keep working hard and to keep developing the East to give us cities/towns that we all can be proud of.

I hereby appeal to all Igbo sons to abstain from any comparison match between Enugu and any other city in Igboland. Enugu is a product of our collective efforts. We are all very proud of this city, just as we are all very proud of Owerri and other Eastern cities. Thanks in advance!

So, get on with PICTURES.
Thanks! cool
The Enugu airport is upgrade is a huge fraud. I came through it on my Easter trip this year. Saw people using manual labour, just an absolute mess! Anyway, the same thing was observed in MMA airport in Lagos. I think the current aviation minister is running a huge scam with the so called airport upgrades.

Anyway, let's not derail this thread.

@Spyder,
Well done. Pls show the good, the bad and the ugly o. Though born and bred in Lagos, I'm from Enugu state and had my university education there.

Was also pleasently surprised at how much the city had developed compared to what it was in the '90's.

Looking forward to all the pics!
TravelRe: Pictures Of Juju's Road Trip To Enugu... by Whitehorse: 1:02pm On Jun 30, 2012
Tinyemeka: They've dualised most of the road now. The stretch from Enugu to 9th mile has been completed. The other road from 9th mile to Enugu is almost complete. The problem is NB, NBC, Dangote and other trucks that break down or even capsize frequently along that road forcing commuters to use only one lane.

That ugwu Onyeama is the scary part of the journey. A very bad, accident-prone spot. People feel an evil spirit might even be in that area.
The Ugwu Onyeama stretch of the road has been accident prone for as long as i can remember, i really do not know why

No, it was a private boat ride, boat belongs to a member of my family.
Well, as per the exact location of the Island, its unfortunate i did not take my GPS logger on that trip, i'd have given you exact latititude and longitude.

However, what the boat captain told me is that the Island is off the coast of Ojo. Ojo covers i believe from Trade fair to Maybe Alaba i think.
Sorry i really do not have the full location details

E b like say u don too watch animal planet o.lol. No offense meant.

Niaja is not Europe abeg. Have you flown over say UK or France? Do you see any natural forestation there? Its all portioned and patterned.
Now compare that with flying over any place in Nigeria.

I agree we have some ways to go in urban developments, but i definitely prefer the natural over the patterned.
