Hi everyone,

It's been a minute since I have logged in here. Phew! My 3.5-year journey to get a bachelor's degree is coming to an end in a couple of months smiley

I will be moving on to the next phase of my life and wanted to drop some helpful tips for anyone who may be interested. I have read how stringent the German embassy has become in trying to curb the number of students leaving for Germany but I think I may be able to give some helpful tips.

I will be done with my bachelor's degree in a couple of months and will be starting a dual-master program later in the year. The university is a private university so tuition fees must be paid. However, it will be a job-integrated program which means that you will also work and be paid for the entire duration of the program. The company is obliged to pay you a salary and also pay about 80% of the tuition fees and you will only have to pay a small amount to balance it which can be taken from the salary you earn.

This could be useful in bumping you from a Category B to Category A because the amount that is paid to you will be given to you in form of a scholarship and you can present that to the embassy. The university does not follow the regular German rules for grading and admission so no Uni-assist needed, no minimum GPA, no English test, and many others. However, note that what the university absolutely requires is some form of previous work experience prior to applying. If you have no work experience, I strongly do not recommend you applying because I am highly certain you will be rejected. I got in because I have been in working student positions since I arrived in Germany 3 years ago, but I do not think you need a lot of work experience to qualify. Also, note that they have a rigorous admission process and make sure they admit only the top 20% of applicants.

If you pass the interview process, you will then be admitted to their talent pool where they have many job offers from various companies in various fields that you can apply for. Once you apply and are interviewed by the prospective company and then offered a position, then you can use that to apply for a visa, stating that you have a scholarship. Also note that most positions advertised require German but you could be lucky to see job positions that do not require German like I got.

They have an International Management program and a double degree for a master's/MBA (which is what I applied for and was admitted).

If this sounds interesting to you, I invite you to check the school website here: https://sibe-edu.com/programs/

I wish you all very good success and hope your dreams of seeking a better life come to fruition. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email.

Adaobi.

God bless. ADA,!

Those under category B still waiting for visa appointment, you have to pray more now.
There are few bitter things you need to remember.

1. It usually takes 4 -8 weeks after interview for you to get approval mail. Infact during our time, some people's own took over 10 weeks sef.
And once your enrollment deadline passes before the visa decision, your application will most likely be rejected.
So your enrollment deadline and possibility of extension of enrollment deadline can play a big role.
Because my friend got an email then asking her to present evidence of enrollment deadline extension or the application will be rejected, unfortunately her school didn't give her any extension and the visa was rejected due to passing the enrollment deadline.
I heard it's possible to enroll online now, so you can also enroll online when it gets to that point.

2. After 31st September 2021 , embassy will no longer issue appointment for this year. Which means you need to get appointment in July or latest in August for you to stand a good chance of getting German student visa this year.

3. Though Corona situation is getting better in Germany and category B appointment should return to normal right now, but We are still doing our lectures online contrary to our expectations, which means they might assume that new students can still receive the lectures from their countries and therefore not in a hurry to issue appointments.

If you don't get appointment mail after August this year, then it will be extremely hard for you to meet up this year.
So pray more for the appointment, call them if you can, send emails, explore option B.
You barely have 2 months left
Basalt! Man it's been a while.

The ever energetic man... How you pushing things over there?.

Well done.

Hello people pls I will like to ask a few questions for a friend. He got an admission for a masters degree in germany and has secured an unconditional offer.however, he is been told he cant book an appointment at the embassy till next year. Please kindly advise if this is true as my guy is very confused at the moment as he has paid tuition deposit.
Damn. He should try ask for a refund.

He should have confirmed visa appointment date availability before paying anything. I paused my German application since last year cause of this terrible visa issue.

It's so insensitive of them to keep accepting applications and giving admissions when they know their embassy here isn't issuing visa to Nigerians!

All Bsc applicants are in category B,if without scholarship.
Bear it in mind that if he books now,he has to wait for over a year(July/August 2022)to be called for an interview (under probability too).
So,he has to shift his resumption date to next year(may be October 2022).
I was just about to ask this... Cause I haven't been hear since last year since the whole visa issue, how the thread is still active even when I knew then they stopped giving appointment date.

So now it' is to wait for one year and still under probability? Man this is mean and crazy

Are you in Nigeria? It is likely going to be difficult to use the asylum route if you aren't near or in Canada.

Actually I have a name withheld who works directly with high commission and NGO affiliated with Canada Immigration. The NGO is the only organisation in power to certify an individual to be granted asylum in Canada and grants the visa and resident permit etc. They serve as a referee to the person(s). So Yada Yada Yada I just might have a good chance since I am...

Hence my question of life as an immigrant after landing. What it is like? And nature of the construction industry for a graduate professional like myself.

^^ Thanks bro. I came here almost 15 years ago as a single 21 year old girl, with a Resident Permit in my hands from Lagos. People find it incredible, but it was part of a covenant I made with The Most High.
In that time, I have taken a serious interest in immigration matters, and have some pet projects going on them. I see Nigerians who are mostly just regular hardworking joes and janes come here, raise hand and end up doing quite well. I am always one for giving people a chance, and for the most part it is honest people with degrees and even post graduate degrees looking for an opportunity that is sadly lacking at home. I wish the authorities would realize that; but since its hard to sift the good eggs from the bad, I respect their reservations.
In the meantime, I say good luck to the honest ones, and to those planning a life of crime, may the God that holds the keys to every border keep you locked in Nigeria, Amen grin
Wow its been 10 years since u wrote this... Are you still on nairaland?

There is no way on earth you can plant onion in south and generate profits. We in the north consume kolanute more than the south, but you don't see us bragging about we planting it, it grow here but the quality and quantity is not the same with the southern one.My advice for u guys is,concentrate on what your land can produce and increase the quantity of production.

Hello guys, I'm here to share my whole admission to visa experience on this German waka. I hope this lightens the mood here because I know the mood around here is down .

So I've been on my German journey since late 2018, I tried applying to many schools for Msc admission and got loads of rejection which dampened my mood but I decided I was not going to relent. So all through 2019 I was seeking admissions in public schools and I wasn't getting any, I guess because my course of study was in high demand (Data science) which requires the best Bsc result.

In the midst of this rejection offers I decided not to relent and was a follower of this German visa thread on nairaland. I began to notice that even with admission letters, appointment letters at the Embassy was not forthcoming and so I decided to leave Nigeria.

Early this year I decided on moving to Turkey, with the aim of staying six months and then moving to Germany, at this point I had no German admission yet but I decided on pursuing it. I came to Turkey in March and during the whole lockdown I started looking out for more schools to apply to in Germany.

My plan was very simple, I would come to Turkey , stay for six months with their residence permit and then apply for German visa after getting admission to Germany. So, I was sending applications here and there while I was in Turkey here and BOOM I finally got an admission to one of the best schools in Germany (top 10 percent worldwide). At this point I already had my Turkish resident permit and was waiting for my six months to complete before I apply for the German study visa at the Embassy here.

Finally, the six months elapsed, and then I began the visa application process which was very simple and fine .

The Process here in Turkey is very simple:

1. They have a third-party body (iData) that you book visa appointments through.
2. You pay about 69 Turkish lira which is an equivalent of (4500 naira) and then they tell you in two weeks you'll get an appointment to go to the Embassy. Mine came in 9 days.
3. They sent me the required documents and everything I needed to take to the Embassy which was not a problem at all. Required documents were blocked account confirmation ( I used expatrio), health insurance which expatrio provides, original copy of your degree certificate, visa application form and biometric passport photographs and most importantly 75 euros and motivation letter.
4. And so I went to the Embassy, guys it was very smooth there.. no stress whatsoever. I got to the Embassy on time . Had a wait time of 20 minutes and then it was time to talk to the visa officer.
5. The interview questions were smooth though plenty, I advice for preparation and calmness. So at the end of the interview the visa officer told me I will be given a visa decision in 4-6 weeks and so I left.
6. Guys, exactly one week after my visa interview , I received a call from the Embassy that my passport and other documents are being shipped by UPS and they are calling to confirm my home address. I responded accordingly and they said in 2 - 3 days I will receive my documents.
7. I am glad to say I received my passport with the visa stamped.

I can say I am ready to travel to Germany and start a new phase in my life..

Cheers Everyone!! For everyone still trying and hoping to leave Nigeria for Germany or anywhere else, I believe everyone's dreams and wishes will come to pass.

Would applying from Ghana work?
