Feb 25 is about 4 months from now and electioneering seems to have begun. While the PDP has launched and commenced its campaign, the APC is putting finishing touches to its strategy. APC just released the amended list of its campaign council members and according to insiders, the campaign council will be inaugurated on Friday by president Mohammadu Buhari after which the campaign will fully commence across the country.

However, we haven't seen any clear campaign strategy from the following presidential candidates,

- Obi
- Sowore

While Obi managed to patch together a campaign council, we haven't seen anything from Sowore. Even the campaign council of Obi can't be taken seriously. Imagine appointing igbo men as the coordinators for Sokoto and Lagos. Some of the people on Obi's list have even dissociated themselves from Obi and his campaign council. So, we can assume Obi doesn't have anything called a presidential campaign council. A collection of political neophytes and people without any electoral value can't be called a campaign council.

Beyond this, Obi and Sowore don't even seem to know what to do next. They keep jumping at anything sensational to sway the sentiment of the people. Obi woke up yesterday and said presidential candidates should suspend their campaigns. Is Obi campaigning anywhere other than going around taking pictures with Ortom, etc? Has anybody seen Obi's campaign timetable? So, why suspend a campaign that hasn't started or for which you don't even have any plan? Maybe Obi should also ask INEC to postpone the election.

While Obi is shouting "suspend campaign", Omoyele Sowore is currently at Lekki tollgate for a procession. And ask, is this part of his campaign strategy? How many votes will a procession at Lekki tollgate give Sowore on election day?

These guys need to get serious or leave the race instead of wasting their gullible supporters' time and energy.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said those backing Iyorchia Ayu to remain as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have witnessed nothing compared to what’s next to come from him.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a section of PDP members, especially in the South, has been calling for Ayu’s resignation to pave way for a chairman of Southern extraction to take over since the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is from the North.

The aggrieved PDP members led by Wike have continued to boycott the PDP presidential campaigns.

It can also be recalled that on Tuesday, Wike endorsed the Second term bid of Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, who is of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking on Tuesday at the birthday celebration of his ally, Okezie Ikpeazu, the Abia State governor, Wike said: “You go and march soldier ant, anything you see, you take.

Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has said he will not run for elective public office or hold any political office after his tenure as governor in 2014.

In a statement in Awka on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, said Obi would retire to his family and private life after completing his tenure.

Obienyem, who was reacting to reports that Obi was having issues with his Imo State counterpart, Chief Rochas Okorocha, said the governor had a passion to serve his people faithfully.

The report said the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Umeh, had declared that Okorocha would replace the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu as the leader of Igbo, instead of Obi, many had suggested for the role.

Obi has also been linked with an aspiration to run as Vice-President in 2015 after his tenure.

“The governor himself has said it for the umpteenth time that after serving the people of the state that he would not go for any other political job, senate, ministerial appointment or any other,” Obienyem said.

He insisted that Obi and Okorcha were not at loggerheads, saying the reports of their brawling were unfounded.

He called on the media to reject one-sided stories and ensure that the views of all sides to a story were reflected in the interest of objectivity.

Obienyem said, “I am sure if the writer of that story had contacted either of the governors’ aides, they would have got the right position, except he was clearly out for mischief.”
