Manitoba has a program and grant for opening a licensed daycare. They sponsor your early childhood education course too. I don’t know about other provinces.

Thanks for this info

Thats not true. If your resident permit is still valid, you can apply for your PR as an "Inland Applicant".
Please disregard that information as it not true.

cc Chelda

In a situation where you are unable to process your PR application within the resident permit validity, you can apply for extension. But when an extension is not granted, you have return back to your country and continue to process from there.

It happened to someone I know, he was denied an extension, he returned back to Nigeria, continued and was granted PR. He's back in Canada now

Licking the floor is good na, when my daughter was younger, i don't allow people carry her because her hand will go straight to the armpit. Just come and see me hiding my daughter from visitors, it was a nightmare. Thank God the phase usually passes. Armpit people! Imagine

@lovelywings thanks for sharing this story. It's an eye opener.... Running a business in Naija is far different from doing same abroad... Please let's all do proper research.... Please can anyone advise on African store business. I'm actually thinking about that.... Ideas are welcome. Thank you....

Requirements for creche business in naija is actually stringent...on paper, but you know how we get away with a lot of things without being punished na. Everything goes, but in a civilized country, you cant try that shi..t.

Would appreciate suggestions on jobs for mums with babies, with daddy in Nigeria grin grin grin. Thanks

I think there are some basic requirements too like cpr courses, the house must have two exit doors basement door not included, then if you stay in a basement you cant use it for daycare etc.

Planning to work in one, see what it takes before making my decision on if to take the plunge. Thanks sisterly

Before you establish a creche, please take a look at this https://www.nairaland.com/4402154/start-up-business-canadian-immigrants#65965900

Yeah, you are correct, creche business is actually a sensitive one, that I know very well but i'm not deterred. Will research the pros and cons, if it's not practicable, dump the idea.

I'm in this gang as well and the truth is I don't see him changing his mind. God help me

I hear a lot of people say they usually change their minds later. Lets hope for the best and above all, planning is key o, may we not be frustrated.

Its gonna be tough at first, but we are stronger than we think. There's no going back for me and that is why I'm looking for something I could do to cushion cost of living while my babies are well taken care of at the same time.

Also looking into all these sit at home jobs. I think they are called customer service. Never done that before. Whew!!!!

My sister in 'pleading with hubby' and 10 years banking. Wish i could take sometime off work and do something flexible but I am.so used to a regimented life. Working at a creche will be fun because I love babies too.

Anyone with any business ideas please chip in.

I'm bored of the so called regimented life my sister. I hope it all ends well.

It would be a bit tough but doable.
You have to find a job that fits into your schedule of picking up your kids from the daycare. Most entry or transition job have funny hours.

Dayhomes are flexible with time. You might want to find out if dayhomes supports subsidized payment.

I hope your husband would return soon. Depending on province (using Alberta as an example), when your 3.5 years old son starts KG, he/she would only spend 3hrs in school per day i.e 9am to 12 or 1pm to 4pm. That would further conflict with your work hours.

As per cost (conservative), rough calculation if Alberta:
Debits per month
rent: $1000
Groceries: $300
Diapers: $50-70
car insurance and gas: $120 (depends on province)
Electricity: $50
Phone and internet: $100
Daycare after subsidy for 2: $800
miscellaneous: $50

Credits per month
Your 2 kids: $1000 per month
Your wages: varies

Thanks for this info.

@ titiclassy, have you ever considered working in a creche? I love taking care of babies and I do this presently and voluntarily, once a week though. That takes care of this hassle "entry or transition job have funny hours", takes care of extra transport cost, and the stress involved in juggling a career with child pick up/drop off. Creche owner might further reduce the cost of care for your children as a staff (don't know if that works in Canny though, just thinking).

Lets just say we might be in the same shoes. I've got close to 10 years experience in banking and i'm ready to shift qualifications to one side to pursue a change of career that will fit around my children's schedule (both are younger than yours), at least until hubby decides to reside fully. We are still pleading grin grin grin.

I've wanted to seek more knowledge from the house on processes involved in establishing a creche in Canada too, but time never reach. I never even start research sef. Just in case you are interested or if anyone knows what it entails, lets begin to share notes.

We must succeed!!!

By all means i don't want to. But where i served is one of the most backwards states in the country. There's no assurance that i'll get the reference letter as i got information the school packed up. please do you know if i could just attach my dispatch letter to the school and back it up with my account statement.

Me thinks you can ply the route of those who couldn't get employment reference letter.
Draft letter on plain paper in CIC format
Get it notarized
Attach relevant proofs
Attach LOE stating your plight
