dearpreye: I'm yet to see the sense and rationale behind the terrible manner with which he handled these mad guys. I'm still seeking it.
I knew he's shameful outlook of trying to be good man to all and sundry was eventually going to catch up with him. Truth remains that if I were in Jonathan's shoes, I won't jump in and start bombing people knowing there are lots innocents among the rogues...He is not a seer to know the extent of support both local and international which boko haram had...He can only act within the confines of information available to him...while engaging the locals whose brothers, uncles, father's, relatives, and neighbors are boko haram... Unless you are supporting another Odi or Zakibiam treatment, otherwise there's no other option here...hence I feel your caption is offensive here... If he gave them an Odi treatment, by now case files to ICC would be circulating...Even with the kid gloves you're lamenting about, how was Ihejirika and co not blackmailed with ICC whence Ohaneze dusted their own files from Biafra war before calm returned... |

Buhari should forget 2019 and deal with our immediate problems. However you should realise that most Northerners believe Gej is behind Boko Haram as a result of his lacklustre attitude towards it. Even Obasanjo and world powers were mad at the kid gloves he used. TRUTHTOPOWER: You ought to find it paradoxical that we have similar monikers relating to truth. but when we address the same issues in politics, we are poles apart. PMB promised to hit the ground running, but late submission of hand over note made it impossible. Be calm, the state ship is operating in a stealth mode for now and vital agencies of govt are roaring to life: Defence, Police, EFCC, Accountant General, EFCC, refineries, etc. The policies are being retooled to reflect the facts and figures given by GEJ admin. once the MDAs get their briefs through their ministers, many corrupt desks will be cleared for fresh ideas to have breathing space. let this be enough for now, fellow Nigerian. 1)Yes...we have similar moniker...but while I dwell on reality you deal on fantasies... 2)You keep talking about Eldorado for a man who's yet to even figure out the nucleus of his cabinet...if he can't get the little things right how about bigger challengez... 3)I ask again what fatal obstacles is buhari clearing |

kITATITA: America has extended assistance and reestablished relationship with Nigeria on the fight against terror. Ditto European Union. There's some policy direction within the Multinational Joint Task Force on terror, with Nigeria retaking leadership responsibilities. The EFCC is suddenly gaining some traction; interrogating NNPC officials involved in the crude swap infraction. NNPC suddenly remembered that the refineries were built to refine hydrocarbons. Buhari was the most scrutinized presidential candidate ever; and it worked in his favour eventually. He seems to be in line to exceed GEJ as the most criticised. Change is not about Buhari. It's about the personal commitment to do what is right. I'm eager to see things work but I'm willing to contribute my quota and patiently wait for the President to do his bit. A committee is working out how many ministries we should have and people want ministers appointed before we know how many offices are vacant. Change is about you and I 1)Did TAM start because Buhari was elected president? 2)MJTF leadership has always been from Nigerian military... so how did it suddenly become an achievement or part of policy direction? 3)What's buhaei development agenda or blueprint? 4)At what cost did USA and other European nations support come to us ...because I know they were jilted by Jonathan for which they felt slighted and sort for his ouster using dangerous propaganda like used in Libya to oust gadaffi...At what cost are they supporting us?...Is it for us to cut ties with China?...or to accept European open bilateral trade agreement?... or repeal anti-gay law?...or allow their forces entry into west Africa soil?...or what exactly?.... because nothing is free even in freetown... 4)What has buhari done differently from what Jonathan did to show change or better leadership? |

Imokay: You have a point but the report says they were defending a buget for 18 months
NNPC also disclosed what they planned to spend monthly for 18 months :
So out of the planned $550 million they have so far spent $320 million and the job is done, this is good on paper but what really happened, duration cut by 50% and expenses by 40%, immediately after change of government. I think that is the crux of the discussion
http://thenationonlineng.net/new/nnpc-to-repair-refineries-with-550m/ 1)They are defending the budget to show why funding of an ONGOING project has spilled over from 2014 to 2015...not same year hence cannot be same budget... 2)When is first quarter of 2015 for which the said projects would be ready 3)An average of $10million monthly does mean that they spend above or below that figure depending on need... 4)Don't shift the goal post...passingshot who's the ridiculous op of this thread said that buhari should be ascribed the success of a project for which he never participated in by way of policy or fiat or funding or anything... how partisan and ridiculous can one get? 5)$550million for local engineers as against what recommended group gave...pricing is fixed before such contracts...how much paid during or as mobilization once it does not jeopardize the work isn't an issue...compare amount paid so far and work done... |

Yet TANoikds can say the FG has funding challenge, i wonder what should be a priority if not this. there are more olodo than I imagined around here... 1)Issuing bonds is same thing that will trigger increased debts...A reason for which APC has been making noise notwithstanding states controlled by them owe and borrow more... 2)NNPC by the law setting them up finance their projects from their income while sending the balance to CBN as revenue for all tiers of government...so FG cannot borrow money and send to them so to say... 3)Raising bonds isn't a question of days...rather lots of calculations of short; medium and long term pros and cons are involved... you can use borrowing from commercial banks to understand my explanation better bro... 4)1 trillion ...do you know how much our total budget is? and even our total subsidy package?... nawa for una...all these beer parlour boys here sef... 5)Why not understand the basics of economics and elementary governance procedures before engaging in such discussions are these... |

Imokay: Can't you see the angle the OP is taking? it is so simple nah, the refinery required to TAM at least by the end of last year. It seems no contract was awarded and no payment was made since the last announcement by NNPC in February 2015, yet the refineries, all 4 are st to work by July. From other reports it seems the refinery were simply denied crude oil thus the units are mothballed.
I suspect they had no plans to meet even the 2016 date, as they will come with another story if Jonathan was still in power Go back and read to see that February reportage was mere statement of past event...he was simply reiterating the point that they have already outsourced the TAM to local engineers already and not that they are about to... |
