In other news, a giant manifestation of The Great Phallus was once again seen in the sky

Note the difference in size and sheer, unbridled awesome. The Phallus literally has the largest sack in the universe.

Iirc similar to naruto in many ways. I'm not much of a fan personally so can't really comment on how good per se, but i can see how it would appeal to traditional shounen fans

There's also d. Grayman. I never saw the anime but read a lot of the manga. It was good, clean fun for me, if not totally epic. Anime supposedly stays true to that form. I'd say it were more similar to FMA

Also read some oh great: tenjou tenge and air gear. Both are written as if he was on some of the best high one could possibly attain, convulted messes as plots, but with excellent artwork and great action. The animes are supposedly true to their sources as well, and I'd have them as similar to bleach

Eva is supposed to be shounen, but the mc here is most definitely NOT your typical shounen hero

Let's just say he has issues, as do the whole main cast. And the main draw of the show is how they (don't) deal with them, not the giant monsters (despite their awesome)

Through the show sef they don't even give you details of what's happening. Rather bewildering considering the plot is excellent. As a hint though: humanity are essentially the bad guys. The giant monsters aren't called angels for no reason

Plenty action and explosiveness in the rebuild movies, try them. If curious then you can then go back to original TV series. Rebuild isn't finished yet. 3 movies out of 4 so far. If you've seen the first 2 and they aren't your cup of tea then just dump the series

Eternal Fire means Fire of God since God is eternal.
He has also held in eternal chains those angels who did not keep their own position but
abandoned their assigned place. They are held in deepest darkness for judgment on the

Look at the use of eternal in this verse, doesn't it make sense that they are going to be untied in order to be punished, yet it is adjudged to be eternal!!!
Bros, I'm sure the talking donkey from your book of fables, even though controlled by Yahweh, would make more sense than you ATM.

Currently watching fate/stay night: unlimited blade works 2. That's the only thing I'm following this season. Dont know what else is on, tbh, dont follow like i used to. Any recommendations?

From just concluded season, followed aldnoah.zero 2 and log horizon 2. Az very disappointing (save some battles, but that's to be expected). Lh2 decent but nowhere near as good as lh1

Will post mal later, but tentatively would say my favorites are evangelion, code geass and planetes

Evangelion most superior anime ever conceived. Prove me wrong

Christianity EtcRe: Faith In Science? Evolution Of The Gaps?! by wiegraf(op): 3:33am On Apr 09, 2015
With evolution, the assertion is that faith is involved. That similarly to how creationists assert there's a god of the gaps evolutionists (not sure why that is even a word, but meh) invoke an 'evolution of the gaps'.

"How do you know so and so feature evolved when you cannot yet show how it evolved? How do you know it wasn't spiritual"

This question is as silly as asking

"How do you know ailment x was not caused by germs when you cannot show which germs caused it? How do you know it wasn't spiritual?"

I'm well aware many of you ask this question, but surely you can't expect the rest of us to take you seriously. I hope...

If you think Ebola is a result of spirits powah then there's little i can do for you, and good luck to you

Evolution is just as solid as germ theory, if not more so (its certainly much more solid than say gr). It's been confirmed across multiple disciplines (provably more so than any other theory) making predictions and what not. So no, unless you can show spirit powah in action, we sane will continue to work on the premise that natural processes are responsible. And we have a fairly simple framework that explain these processes; evolution

So when we see an eye, we don't say god. We go out and find why and how naturally, same as with germs. And the why and how of eyes has been done conclusively. Today, we still have mysteries eg, blood clothing, but what do you expect us to assume the source is?

This is not faith. It's fact..

More subtle is the allegation that evolution cannot be disproved. This is also wrong. It can be disproven fairly simply - all you have to do is show the central tenents are wrong. Show that gradual changes would not result in major changes over generations. Show that proposed changes could not have possible precursors in ancestors. Show life with 'alien' DNA on this rock, etc etc

Most critics tend to cling on a detail, or on the instances when scientists get a detail wrong, and milk that brazenly. They forget evolution wasn't proven using just the one fossil (in fact, it wasn't conceived with fossils in mind, they came in a bit later and simply confirmed what was already being ascertained). There's an overwhelming body of evidence that supports it, so if you're going to disprove it you better come with something solid.

And even if you do, that doesn't mean the whole theory will be tossed out, not necessarily. Look at the aforementioned gr, I already mentioned there are some serious reservations, but certainly no one's defenestrating it yet. Its simply thought to be incomplete or effective, in that it doesn't describe what goes on at a quantum level.

Today, one of the holy Grails is to merge qm and gr, perhaps leading to the grand theory of everything. Should similar concerns be found with evolution I imagine something similar would occur, rather than throwing the baby out with the bath water. But note that evolution has no such concerns, at all. Seeing it shot dead like ether is nigh on impossible. And I make this assertion without using faith. All you need do is provide your facts and evidence and evolution will go the way of the dodo

Phew...youre still reading? U try. .. That's it...I hope
Christianity EtcRe: Faith In Science? Evolution Of The Gaps?! by wiegraf(op): 2:03am On Apr 09, 2015
Now, most of the results coming in backed up the quantum scientists, but the geezer did have some valid scientific points. So one of them, even as he himself found quanta weird as well, came up with a test.

How would you test a claim that is rather similar to something from nothing, in other words similar to most supernatural claims which assert that something undetectable (or your spirit powah) is responsible or has a hand in physical, natural events? Apparently, not too dissimilar to other tests for the supernatural like prayer; by using statistics

He showed that in Einstein's (the curmodgeon) proposed scenario, if the qm scientists were indeed correct, then the results of repeated tests would fall within a particular range. Whereas if Einstein's insunuations, that there were certain hidden physical elements we simply cant detect responsible for all this jazz, then the results would fall within another range. It is rather relatively simple math, which for the most part can't really be argued against.

Took them a few decades to gain the tech to finally perform the tests and the results....since then.....confirm what qs asserted. Same simple statistics used to deny prayer confirm the more unintuitive qs

That is the point of all this story; even when scientists make seemingly bizzare and unnatural claims they do not require you believe them based on faith. No. They provide objective evidence anyone invested enough can verify himself. And they follow the evidence - they've no choice in the matter - regardless of where it takes them.

Religion is of course very much the opposite, to the point of many times making demonstrably false claims, then asking you to believe on faith. Please don't mix up the two, they are in no way the same

And finally, we get to how this relates to evolution...
Christianity EtcRe: Faith In Science? Evolution Of The Gaps?! by wiegraf(op):
So to some up the weirdness;tl Dr; when not being observed the particle will be - seemingly - at multiple places at once (theoritically, possibly through the whole universe!). It only gains a (genuinely random but) definite destination when you observe it.

So yes, when you're not watching it the moon isn't really there (but no, as you don't need a conscious observer, just an observer. Any system complex enough qualifies as one, and that includes basic macroscopic systems let alone the moon)

Indeed, you could even set up to observe the particle, therefore forcing it to choose a path, but then delete that data after the event has supposedly taken place, thereby ostensibly altering the past

This, amongst many other things, was no good to classical physicists. One particular curmudgeon refused to desist, and came up with a typically brilliant curve ball against this voodoo. He pointed out that if all the quantum scientists asserted were true, then another of their conclusions - of which the details we need not be too concerned about - would require, sort of like the above, some sort of instantaneous or faster than light communication. This would mean general relativity was wrong (or at least, rather incomplete) for starters. And gr, though of course complex to us mere mortals, really is just simple, near on irrefutable common sense. The subject of interest is the response of the quantum physicists

And

Stalin wasn't inspired by atheism as, and this may be beyond you, there's no such atheistic dogma. There is such a thing as communism though (or Bolsheviksm, or whatever nonsense he prescribed to), stalism which is built, conveniently for him, around his cult of personality. Weird wiegraf.... Expanding the frontiers of s*tupidity!!

If those Muslim 'ogas' subscribe to killing as punishment for apostacy, it's a cause for worry in the sense that they've been blinded by their own thirst for violence, NOT because Islam taught them to. Even though apostasy happened right under his nose, Muhammad (PBUH) N-E-V-E-R killed anyone for apostasy in his lifetime, and THAT IS the 'oga', whose example I am meant to follow.

I suppose that this 'cancer' you talk about was also contacted by one of your ancestors in atheism- Joseph Stalin! He killed tens of millions of people and starved another tens of millions to death!! Guess what? He didn't get his inspiration from the Quran!!!

This is why I implore you to shake your head and allow your brain to fall back in place, so you can realize that the religion-blaming game doesn't solve the problem of violence but only takes attention away from it!

Read your own words... "Look at the xtians, their folly was once...well....." (Lol. You can't even express it well). Real atheists aren't partial, they knock out their opinions flat and bold, irrespective of the religion they're addressing!

But at least you agree that the christians' innumerable gruesome killings have been exposed. Christianity EtcRe: Faith In Science? Evolution Of The Gaps?! by wiegraf(op):
For the (thankfully now few, due to the internets and education), uninformed (from a slightly less uninformed layman with permanent retardation whenever math shows up), the rest can ignore this

Quantum Physics posits that the moon isn't really there when you're not watching it (well, sort of). It posits matter is both particle and wave. It posits there are certain values that can never really be known. All this weirdness is connected, and it can be said to begin with this (simplified) premise; you can never really be sure.

Science is all about knowing stuff for sure, so that can't be right, no? Well..

An example of this weirdness would be the (by the standards of the modern scientific community) age old double slit experiment. Quanta are both wave and particle-like, that alone is strange but somewhat ignoring that, fire 2 separate light beams at a board through thin slits and observe the results. As light diffracts, similar to how you can hear sound through a closed door (the sound wave moves 'around' the door), you'll get a pattern on the board which would be similar to what you'd expect from say, waves on a beach. They'll clash and alternating bands will show up where they hit the board. Something like this

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c2/Single_slit_and_double_slit2.jpg/350px-Single_slit_and_double_slit2.jpg

We're concerned with only the second image. I'll call this an interference pattern. Note that while each individual particle floats around like it's surfing a wave, it only makes one dot when it hits the board. So that pattern indicates many different particles bumping into each other and hitting the places you'd expect them to hit if they were interfering with each other in a particular way (note randomly that you cannot exactly determine where a particle will land, only an approximation, in other words this is a truly random process, but let's ignore that a little).

So cool, the particles are all wavelike and bumping around. What happens when you fire just one laser, or better yet just one particle at a time, through the slit? You'd expect the particles to hit the board somewhat arbitrarily, but no. Instead you get the exact same interference pattern. So, somehow, the particle passes through both slits and begins to handle itself (something intended, sorry)

Alright, this is all fine but we already get quanta behave both wave and particle-like, so why not observe what is actually happening? That is why not observe how the particle splits and follows both slits?

When you do that, when you try to observe the particle do juju, it does more juju; nothing special happens. The particles pass through one slit and the interference patterns disappear.

Even weirder, if you setup so that you can observe the particle, thereby making the particles choose one slit and getting rid of the interference pattern, but instead destroy the data of the already made observations, the pattern reappears.....

That's some f.ucked up $hit

not to worry. there's a pont to all this

Prayer, despite all the claims it relies on faith (or whatever nonsense) can be and has been tested by using a simples; odds, probabilities, whatever. You carry a group of ill receiving gigawatts in prayer power and compare them statistically to those not on the end of such effective treatment and compare them, you'll note the prayers make absolutely no difference. However, if you compare the ill that receive solely prayer as treatment to those receiving no prayer whatsoever, just plain modern medicine (brought to you modern science), you'll note the differences, clearly.

So, yeah, we can basically discard prayer as hokum. It's nonsense, and this has been objectively verified, but whatever floats one's boat so meh. You can claim otherwise but you really can't expect others to indulge you. But I mention prayer for a particular reason. The way described here to verify the efficacy of prayer is similar to the way used to verify some really jazzy physical theories, Quantum Mechanics. QM illustrates how open minded science is, as it really implies some fairly far out stuff, more so than most religious hullabaloo, and it demonstrates how science must go with the evidence regardless of how absurd it may be.

Reading some scarily foolish statements prompted this. Seems many of you seem to think science is subjective. That it's somehow the white man's thing.

........

Na wa

As there might quite a few of you out there, better to address all here

Anyhow, no. It does not rely opinons, faith and so on, therefore claiming science is the white man's thing is as silly as saying the color blue belongs to the white man. See? Folly

It's really simple with science; even when one is at the stage of conjecture or hypothesis, if your claim is not falsifiable, in other words it isn't objectively verifiable, then it isnt science.

The color blue was not created by man (unlike say Jesus or Yahweh), it freely exists in nature. Same thing with scientific theories, obviously. All natural. In fact, that is their very definition as science is a study of the natural. So going about claiming germ theory belongs to the white man is impressively foolish. You might as well go around claiming that 1+1=2 belongs to the white man as well.

I won't elaborate anymore on that. If you can't see the glaringly obvious, then you need a special needs teacher to help you

Now, if we leave the domain of the harebrained a more nuanced and related allegation of faith in science plays out thus; how do you know every cause in the universe is natural? How do you know everything around you is natural?

Simple, logic demands it is so. Call it the logic of something from nothing but it's a bit more than that. And, importantly, history backs it up.

Not once in history has phenomena attributed to supernatural causation been shown to be so. Not once. The reverse is very much untrue. From your grannies assuming an invisible man (usually, sorry females) with a sprinkler system was responsible for rain to those thinking disease was a result of spirits mocking about, history is replete with examples of supernatural causation being pissed all over on by natural, read scientific, explanations with evidence to back them up.

And the claim that the supernatural cannot be verified, perhaps even by definition, is usually off. They largely can be confirmed, eg the giant sprinkler in the sky. Even those more involved, eg prayer.

So, while electioneering

guardian: Bangladesh blogger becomes second to be murdered in a month

Washiqur Rahman’s murder is latest attack on progressive activists following similar killing of American atheist blogger in February

A blogger known for his atheist views has been stabbed to death in Bangladesh, in the latest of a series of attacks on independent writers in the developing south Asian nation.

Washiqur Rahman, 27, died of serious injuries inflicted in the assault on Monday morning in Dhaka, the capital.

Police have arrested two men for the murder, which comes just weeks after an American atheist blogger was killed in Dhaka, in a crime that triggered international outrage.

Local police chief Wahidul Islam told Agence France-Presse the victim had been “brutally hacked to death this morning with big knives just 500 yards [460 metres] from his home at Dhaka’s Begunbari area”.

Islam said the two detained men were arrested immediately after the attack as they tried to flee the scene.

The suspects have so far been identified only as Zikrullah, said to be a student at a religious school near the city of Chittagong, and Ariful Islam, who police say was studying at the Darul Ulum religious school in Dhaka. Police are hunting a third man.

“Those who killed him differed on his ideologies about religion. He was not an atheist. He was a believer. But the way he followed religion was different from the way radical groups insist,” Biplob Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan police, told the Guardian.

However, Tamanna Setu, a friend of Rahman said: “He used to write a satirical column on facebook about against believers. He was an atheist. His killing has to be connected to his writing,”

One social media activist said that he used to write “against religious fundamentalism”.

“It appeared Rahman used to write using a pen name, Kutshit Hasher Chhana [Ugly Duckling],” Imran Sarker, head of the Blogger and Online Activists Network in Bangladesh, said. “He was a progressive free thinker and was against religious fundamentalism.”

Ibrahim Khalil, a fellow blogger who knew Rahman through events they organised, said Rahman was a “progressive” who wrote against religious extremism and repression of ethnic minorities.

“I can say he was a very humble man,” Khalil said.

The Dhaka Tribune reported that the dead man was a member of eight Facebook group pages including Atheist Bangladesh.

Rahman, who worked at a travel agency as an IT manager, is the third such blogger to have been murdered in the Muslim-majority country in the past two years.

Atheist blogger Avijit Roy 'was not just a person … he was a movement'

Police have also arrested a suspect over the killing in February of American atheist writer and blogger Avijit Roy.

Roy, an engineer of Bangladeshi origin, was killed by machete-wielding assailants near Dhaka University as he and his wife were returning from a book fair last month. His wife, Rafida Bonya Ahmed, suffered head injuries and lost a finger. She later returned to the US for treatment.

“While Avijit and I were being ruthlessly attacked, the local police stood close by and did not act,” Rafida told Reuters.

Roy’s death sparked uproar at home and abroad, with hundreds of secular activists protesting for days to demand justice. They also criticised the country’s government for not doing enough to protect secularist writers.

An adviser to Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister, appeared in comments earlier this month to pass the blame for the murder of Roy on to the police.

“Identify the black sheep among the force and bring them under law and justice to uphold your image,” HT Imam told senior officers.

A suspect in the killing, named as Farabi Shafiur Rahman, had previously threatened Roy several times, including on Facebook, where he said Roy would be killed upon his arrival in Dhaka. Rahman was arrested in 2013 for making threats to a cleric for administering Islamic funeral rites to another atheist blogger, Ahmed Rajib Haider, who was murdered.

Media group Reporters Without Borders rated Bangladesh 146th among 180 countries in a ranking of press freedom last year.

In 2004, assailants attacked Bangladeshi writer Humayun Azad, also with machetes. Azad survived the attack, but died in mysterious circumstances later that year in Germany, where he had gone on an academic visit.

Political violence in recent months has claimed the lives of more than 100 people and left hundreds more injured. Clashes have pitted activists from the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist party (BNP), which boycotted general elections a year ago, and other parties against security forces. The latest protests have been called by Khaleda Zia, leader of the BNP, who wants Hasina to resign and call fresh polls. Hasina has said her government would remain in office until her term ends in 2019. Allies of the BNP include Islamist parties.

The country of more than 160 million people has struggled to resolve profound disagreements over the role of religion in politics and society in recent years
