vedaxcool: I believe brain washed is more appropriate, seeing that he refers to another human being as being meat . . .Vedax, you're still active! Still as brilliant as ever I see. Where do I do this, hmm? |
I haven't been following the details clearly per se, but from what I can see we've gotten 15 pages for the same inane god of the gaps in another guise; we don't know = spiritual. Worse, in this case we have a pretty good understanding of the source. Or has anyone here met someone thinking without a brain? A feat possible even without a heart, or just about any other organ that has functions that can be replicated by science for that matter. Even some that don't. I seem to remember anony at one time acknowledging brain physiology effects sexuality. Saying something to the tune of environment can affect it, so ghey can be cured. So he accepts that the brain's physiology can affect something that complex, then wtf is all this about? The 'soul' has no say on sexuality then? Or it's only responsible for some actions which you can arbitrarily choose? No, it's responsible for changing the brain itself? Ok, then wtf is this 'soul'? We do know that changing physiology can alter sexuality, that we know for sure. We are yet to have come across souls trolling people into ghey anywhere though. Ah, thoughts are perceived as non-physical, therefore: soul. Ok. Mathematics is spiritual as well I suppose. No? What of the bits in a computer responsible for the logic used to generate any post one is reading? Or the signals that race to a brain forcing any biological being with a nervous system to perceive pain, like say when it touches something hot? We don't understand how consciousness works does not equal spiritual, at all. It equals just that, we don't know. And yet, AI is certainly not an impossibility. We'll create some given time, even if some sort of biology would be needed to fully create some. Ie, to simulate forming new connections between neurons, or simulate stimuli from external sources, etc. Or maybe we should just give up as obviously we cannot create souls. Religion, drawing conclusions everywhere there is remote grey amongst the black and white. |
maclatunji: Of course, you have been programmed that way.How is this a cogent reply? You think I was indoctrinated in the ways of critical thinking? Different story, same issue, no? So, can you explain how what I said was wrong rather than trying to come off as someone remotely wise? You stick to one story only per thread in these parts? Wow. Ok, but that is frankly silly. The story usually is related to other stories for context or other reasons. The stories are usually posted to present a point, points demand context. I don't think I'll have to search far to find threads in this section that reference other stories, yes? Now, if the issues are the same, how is this 'muddling'? |
okeyxyz: Really? Can you name one field of endeavorer or discipline, occupation, life-achievement, etc that is not based on fear? Do you not study through the fear of failure? do you not work hard through the fear of poverty and hunger? Do you not take care of your health through the fear of disease & death? But I'm sure you believe those fears that spurred you to excel in life are good, but when it comes to christianity, common sense flies out the window. Why should the same principles as in practical real living not apply to spiritual people with spiritual quests? No, not fear motivates all of my actions, especially moral decisions. For instance, I don't do good because I fear hell, I do it simply because I want to be good. So I have no idea what you're on about. This is simple, look at it another way, dog training (wince all you want but it's an apt analogy). Basically you can train a dog to do anything without having to hit it once (and top pros without even having to raise their voices) with excellent results. The dog would be healthy, happy, and its behavior wouldn't be based around fear of a swift smack, but rather just because it wants to be good. It need not know fear or suffering, at all. That is another thing spread by many religions that puzzles me, that suffering is necessary. Anyways, not so with most of you guys, at all. It's all fear of hell fire, and when you start blindly fearing, the rest all falls into place. There's more, but I'll just leave it at that, for now... And a sacrifice entails giving up something meaningful for crying out loud. Giving up something easily replaceable? Lol, no. An omnipotent cannot provide a sacrifice, except maybe its omnipotence. Your definition of omnipotent may vary though |
maclatunji: Address one story at a time and don't muddle-up issues. They look the same to me; treating women like meat |
How dare you criticize a man for slapping meat? Even if that weren't his particular cut, he's still a man. The gall... www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2170503/Caught-middle-Taliban-love-triangle-The-moment-helpless-Afghan-woman-22-gunned-fighters-decide-her.html Some of the comments there are amusing. Ah, yes, islamophobia, abi? |
doubleDx: Even as a Christian, the idea that God actually sacrificed his 'only begotten Son for our sins' doesn't make any sense! Now, now, I think the silly is derper. But peace and love? Yeah, we can all dig peace and love. Fears, though, are the primary source of religions and decisions based on fear don't tend to be the best Ah, random |
musKeeto:No be our fault na! Which kind style? I'll deal with this...I must... |
Logicboy03: Are you crazy?Iirc it's not the first time. He shoots first then asks questions. |
^^^ But they're all fake prophets, so your arguments are void |
davidylan: Yeah which is perhaps why you practically live here spending all your days moaning about the religious inclinations of others? What is why I spend all day here? What exactly are you trying to do, look mature despite you pulling an invisible 'why' from your a$$? Sarcasm, you? But to correct you, I spend most of my time here correcting eediots who make claims like atheists can't be moral, or are fo.ols, or want to kill teh gheys, etc. Most of them pompous, hubris filled hypocrites no less. It's a dirty job, but someones got to do it, no? |
davidylan: Ok... my points are genuinely eediotic but you are unable to point out why? Why dont you find something else to do with your time?Well, you were on about me bothering peoples beliefs earlier on (I rarely do in case you didn't notice, or do you see me in xtian only threads? but baseless accusations from you shouldn't be surprising) yet you now suddenly have an interest in how I spend my time? How in the hell is that any of your business or your concern, hmmm? |
davidylan: if my viewpoints are eediotic... why dont you take a stab at proving them wrong. For the most part... our viewpoints are eediotic simply because they are informed by a christian point of view that is anathema to you and nothing else. Say something else bro... the old tricks are getting old.No, your views are genuinely eediotic. But what does any of this has to do with my main point, hmmm? In case you missed it; you're an a$$, so I fail to see what gives you the holier than thou nonsense air you have. Discussing your silly "I don't know"="god!" arguments, especially considering you are supposedly a trained scientist, is obviously a waste of time, no? One would have thought you knew how the scientific method works, no? All those schools with paid teachers obviously failed you, so what do you expect a mere mortal like me to do against such brainwashing? Just you please make sure to let me know if you're working on anything that could affect me. Please, for the sake of your god even.... |
davidylan: making a point. you are free to counter with yours. simple.Ah shut up, hypocrite. You don't need the jara to make your point, mr mature https://www.nairaland.com/davidylan/posts From this evening alone davidylan: 1. Dropping religious belief does not take any courage... i have found it is actually WAY easier to have no belief than to maintain the discipline to keep one. davidylan: Obviously you post without thinking or even bothering to read what the entire discussion has been about. It is quite true that you have been making comparison to primates but again it exposes how little you know. The general atheist argument for some time has been that the remarkable similarities in the ape and human genome is proof that we evolved from a similar ancestor. Now that makes sense only to folks like you who dont think outside the box... we share a remarkable similarity in our genomes with the drosophila, maize plant and a mouse. Are we evolved from a similar ancestor as the last 3 too? davidylan: Again you have put your foot in your mouth. I merely used that as an analogy... there is nothing to say that the soul must necessarily be physical... the point being it simply employs the brain as an outlet to the physical world just the same way the brain uses the eye purely as an outlet to the world. And there's more. You presented alternate view points true, eediotic as they may be, but you are still quite the a$$ while doing so. And no, you weren't provoked at all the times, some times you clearly were the aggressor, like here. Some good davidylan in there, so I fail to see what suddenly gives you the moral high ground. Meh |
davidylan: as is usual with logicboy, no attempt to present an alternate viewpoint when ad-hominems would do quite nicely. Its getting old dude. And wtf have you been doing all evening? |
SNCOQ3: ^ Its a free world; you're free to explode if you want. You don't have to comment if you have nothing of worth to contribute.Heheheheh. No, really. So this is a troll thread? Why don't you answer the questions? Have you said anything of value with this nonsense? |
SNCOQ3: Every Philosophy has its political, economic, social implications; and Communism is a product of which? Please don't derail this thread. The highlighted below is a confirmation of what this post is about:Can you pls explain to me what I'm derailing? I'm finding it real hard to remain calm in the face of such silliness. What do you think atheism means? Or are you redefining the word as well? If so, you should state your definition clearly rather than claim people are derailing your threads. That's frankly stoopid. Also, pls explain to me how atheism or indeed theism can have doctrine? And wow at the bolded, again, wtf does that have to do with atheism. |
SNCOQ3: I think you should read the Communist Manifesto for a start.I did, the question still stands. Very much so. Do you know what atheism means? |
Mr_Anony: I don't know but perhaps you should ask these guys:Mmm, why? They are linguists or something? They can redefine the word to mean something else, perhaps? Like you enjoy doing of course |
SNCOQ3: So what is the ideal economic/political system that Atheist/Humanist economic thinkers always dream about? Perhaps you'd want to consult Martian. What does atheism have to do with any of that? |
Atheist:-D:They think all atheists are communists. Or that you can't have one without the other. Or that in fact, atheism does indeed have doctrine. But mostly, you just underestimate stoopid. |
bamto: What is it you've said now? Smh...For crying out loud brah, quit your trolling. It clearly states I think you're stoopid. Hmm? What do you think of BH leaders that insist the world is flat yet insult education, others as ignorant or f.ools, etc? |
TroGunn: That's a question for Anony and co.That's clearly a waste of time. Rather than say 'I don't know', many would give up a nut to say 'because god!'. Usually out of some fear or the other. Through history no less, and they've constantly proven wrong. We don't claim gods cause droughts these days anymore, do we? Ah, wait, we still do in many parts of this country. In fact, I remember a case of riots ensuing because of a drought. Mallam at mosque blamed teh gheys, xtians and beer parlors. My mom had dragged me to to her hometown. There were only indian films, the champions league and some good ghey cooking in that town, so without alcohol the ordeal was a tad more unbearable. Of course, mallam got away with inciting violence with a fair amount of praise. Not that I can fully blame him when sheeple behave like sheeple Oh, yes. Ignorance = 'god did it', sometimes even despite education (heheheheh). The ones that disgust me personally the most are the ones clearly motivated by fear. Either ways, again, a waste of time. |
TroGunn: Actually "thought" can be created in a lab- it's called AI - cpu- based systems do that all the time, making decisions based of inputs received. No, no, no. Thoughts are magical. I mean you can have thoughts without a heart, or just about any organ, but you can't have any without a brain. Why is that? |
Atheist:-D:Usually it takes me 10 sentences to say this. I'm copypastaing this in the future whether you like it or no. |
inurmind: I believe in the beginning there were many gods, not just god's wife. But something happened to the isrealites that made them cast away all the others, something catastrophic. It is thought by some that the one god was probably used by some priests trying to save their necks to explain one failure or the other. Presenting it as indisputably the most powerful being in the universe "Why did we lose so and so battle despite sacrificing the goats? Are the gods unhappy? We did everything they asked you t.wat. We will skin you alive now" "Wait! There is only one god silly. And of course he wouldn't let us lose unless it was his will. You're probably not tithing enough or something. Trust me, there are no other gods except yahweh so this must be his will" etc |
fellis: People like you should not be allowed to reproduce.I loled You coming around now? Our little hannibal lecter seems to be maturing nicely. He'll soon move from torturing ants and insects to small pets like kittehs. I suspect he might be at the kitteh level already though |
