Deborah Riley is looking forward to the end of “Game of Thrones.”

Riley has served as the hit HBO fantasy series’ production designer for four years, and says its last season “does not pull any punches.”

“The final season nearly killed me,” she admitted to Deadline. “I realized at a certain point that all of the work in previous seasons was just a warm-up for Season 8.”

She added, “By the end, I had nothing left to give and finished knowing I had done everything I could. Season 8 … is raw and honest and important. I can’t wait to see it.”

The eighth and last season will have just six episodes for fans to devour. Season 7 consisted of seven episodes.

This year, Riley submitted the “Dragonstone” episode for Emmys consideration, with the production designer calling the episode “such a pivotal moment” in the series.

“For the art department, it is the episode in which the whole tapestry of sets of Dragonstone island and castle are seen for the first time,” she explained.

– As the 2019 general elections approach, a civil society organisation says it will set up a support for political aspirants among the youths

– The organisation identified as Youth Empowerment Solution, says it will reach out to its partners for the support

– According to the group, the youths need the space to freely express themselves

Youth Empowerment Solutions (YES) Project Initiative, a civil society organisation, on Sunday, August 12, said it would set up a support fund for political aspirants among youths ahead of 2019 general elections.

NAN reports that the executive director of the group, Precious Oche, made this known at a news conference in Abuja to commemorate International Youth Day, with “Safe Spaces for Youth’’ as theme.

NAIJ.com gathers that Oche said that with the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Act, the stage had been set for youths to vie for elective positions and participate more actively in Nigeria’s democratic process.

According to him, the issue of godfather in Nigeria’s politics is a great challenge for youths to grabble with and if not addressed, will limit youths in 2019.

He said that YES was aware of the challenge, and that it was the reason it would reach out to its partners to get support for youths vying for elective positions.

Oche said: “We don’t want one godfather somewhere to sponsor someone and then start demanding that 50 per cent of whatever is in the office must go to him.

“As a youth-oriented organisation, we believe that there is no better time to create safe spaces for youth than now, especially in our political environment.

“Youth needs safe spaces where they can participate in decision-making processes and contribute meaningfully to the democratic process that engender good governance, equity, justice and respect for human rights.

“They need the space to freely express themselves, where they can maximise their potential and opportunities and where they can dream and pursue their dreams to the point of actualisation.”

Oche said that youths were faced with many challenges, especially unemployment which if addressed, would lead to productivity rather than vices.

He said that youths were in the majority in Nigeria’s close-to-200 million people, adding that the 2019 elections was an opportunity for them to exercise their civic power.

He urged youths to collect their voter cards, vie for positions and also elect credible leaders into office.

The director said that the organization was committed to supporting more youth candidates with character and leadership quality to vie for positions.

The actor’s life and legacy are celebrated in an upcoming documentary, “I Am Paul Walker,” and in honor of the touching tribute, ET is taking a look back at our own greatest moments with Walker.

ET first met Walker in 1998, when he was a spunky young actor starring in “Varsity Blues.” He was about to get his big break in Hollywood — but he made it clear he planned to do things his way.

“People are so afraid to offend, or say something. You know, ‘Maybe I won’t get another job, I don’t want to bad mouth this person or bad person,'” he said. “Personally, I like to be straight up. If I had some smack, or some trash to talk about someone, I’d be tempted to give it to you right now… I don’t have any, and that’s the real story.”

Then, in 2000, ET was with the actor on set of “The Fast and the Furious,” where he starred as Brian O’Conner, one of his most and iconic roles. Back then, however, Walker confessed he wasn’t nearly the driver his character turned out to be. “We went to this racing school in Vegas,” he admitted. “I learned a lot. I learned just how little I knew about driving!”

Walker was a quick learner, but sadly, it was also a high-speed crash that killed him nearly five years ago, on Nov. 30, 2013. ET spoke with the father of one just six months prior to the accident, where he said his love for cars evolved throughout his life. “I grew up hunting and fishing, and I’ve always been into archery. I’ve always been into cars, and it’s like they’re associated, it always comes down to, oh, those are macho, those are real guy things to do. In my family, that was just stuff we did, that’s just the way it was,” he explained.

And then he started racing Mustangs and I think it’s just a part of my [DNA],” he continued, before praising “Fast and the Furious” as his “dream job.”

“They formed together this like, dream job, so I’ve been living it for awhile now,” he expressed. “The dream is to have it all. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? … You only live one time. I want to get it all in.”

The director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen Zakari Kazaure, has warned that travelling out of camp or places of primary assignment without obtaining permission remained an offence.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kazaure spoke at the Ekiti state permanent orientation camp, situated in Ise/Emure, in Ise/Orun local government area.

The report said Kazaure was on a visit to educate corp members on dangers inherent in playing with their health and security.


He said the standing rule of the agency is being repeatedly ignored in a manner that suggested that authorities had abdicated their roles of looking after the well-being as well as the welfare of the corp members.

It was learnt that Kazaure arrived in the Ekiti state camp in the evening of Tuesday, August 7, and expresssed deep regrets over the tragic death of nine corp members in Taraba state during the weekend.

He described the incident as a huge loss to him personally, and the nation in general.

Kazaure claimed he passed through the NYSC mandatory programme over 30 years ago and added that the sad incident was highly regretted and called for a minute silence to honour those who lost their lives.

According to him, there is also the need for corps members to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities.

Kazaure said that any corps member in the country was free to call his personal number on 07042542779, in case of any emergency that the felt their immediate supervisors could not handle.

The director general warned them, particularly the females, to avoid dressing irresponsibly and also away from sharp practices such as engaging in Iinternet fraud among others.

The wtate director, Aniefiok Okpongete, told the director-general that a total of 1,809 corps members were currently registered, comprising 1,109 males and 700 females.

She said that a total of 187, among them, 149 females and 38 males had been advised to leave camp on account of being either pregnant, nursing mothers or facing critical health challenges.
