The only reason I can understand if forex,any other reason is extortion.it is the demand for cement that is very high in Nigeria that makes him able to sell at such price

. U will understand better when u start a business.. More than 50 percent collapse within one year of start up, 80 to 95 percent collapse within the first five years in Nigeria. Too many issues u face as a biz owner...tax is just one out many..

FG need to bring taxes down to make business environs friendly. That's the global practice. Meanwhile, Dangote is the highest taxpayer in Nigeria.... if you run a business... u will know that consumer will bear any excess burden of taxes levied on companies. Maybe u are a salary earner.

A house is long term liability that will take decades to get to profit.

Land has a low maintenance cost that could be recuperated in a short time.

In actual real sense, even the house does not appreciate as it becomes outdated and structure loses value. It is still the land that appreciates the most.

Don’t waste your time on a long term liability. You still will be better if you dump that money in a mutual fund account and be reaping profits per annum. A 100M will still be getting you 20m per annum which real estate can NEVER give you.

. Every investment has its own cycle. Land may not appreciate irrespective of speculation... Mutual fund may give low return of less than 5 percent . Buying a house and pushing it for rent may be cumbersome... The key takeaway is to invest across different asset class so they can complement each other where any1 is not delivering the required returns.

Nobody can build a refinery today at 1500 naira to 1 dollar and compete with Dangote. (In case you dont know how business work)
Today he has succeeded in firing the regulator and oversight bodies
Tomorrow he will drop the price to force the other refineries out of business
Day after tomorrow he will make sure no new refineries are built.

After all that has been achieved he will now raise the prices.

. BUA is building its own refinery....we expect completion soonest. Other modular refineries are coming up...It's not going to be a Dangotes affair. Any private business can lobby FG the way Dangote does.it's not a crime. BUA is a typical example. FG under Tinubu won't allow outright monopoly...... Check. the cement sector.. we have Dangote .. BUA... Lafarge and Mangal.

This refinery was built on subsidized dollars from Nigerian CBN. This dollars were subsidized by all Nigerians. It was built at 350 naira to a dollar.

Now that 1 dollar is 1500naira. Nobody can build a refinery of that size in Nigeria. And no foreign investor will come to Nigeria and build a refinery. Because you cannot compete with one built at a cheaper 350 naira to 1 dollar.( By doing this he has established a monopoly)

Now this new puppet NMDPRA CEO will dance to Dangote's tune and petrol supply will be monopolized by him.

In a country like China, if Government gives you subsidized dollars and import waivers a portion of that refinery say 30-40% will be nationalized. It will be owned by the people. Because Nigerians revenue was used to subsidize the dollars.

Dangote built the refinery at 350 Naira to 1 dollar but will now sell petrol at 1500naira to 1 dollar......Do you see the scam ?

What kind of business man only thrives on government subsidies, government concessions,import waivers and monopoly of the market ?

. Anyone that want to compete with da Dangote should go ahead and establish his refinery. The sky is enough for everyone to fly.. .. BUA is already doing that..... and no one has chased him out. We have enough billionaires that can compete if they have the guts... Elumelu.... Ovia.. Otedola.. Adenuga etc. To continue to grant import licenses to kill local production is a simple No in this season. FG need to ramp up it's supervisory role in encouraging health competition and reduce monopolistic tendencies. We need to kick out cabals out of every sector in Nigeria...those guys are doing more harm by chasing out foreign investors.. .. No foreign investor can fight these cabals the way Dangote is hitting them hard.da

At the end of the day, the price and consumer preference should determine the market. Unless Dangote is trying to establish a monopolistic cartel. Which is what he is doing. After he is done chasing all of them away.....guess what ? He will raise the prices.
Dangote shouldn't be worried by the import licenses, he should bring his petrol to the market cheaper. If he is able to do that....Farouk and co can go and buy the expensive imported petrol if they like.
But Dangote wants to kill all competition form the jump. In a country as large as Nigeria, energy is like security. You cannot let one single man sell petrol to 250 million Nigerians. Thats a dangerous precedence.

Dangote did not chase Lafarge and BUA.. it will get better with time with entrance of other competitors. Let's hope for better FG to come up with policies to challenge monopoly practices. This is the best way to go... we have no business with import licenses.
