I no know watin to believe and she don dey worry me to define the relationship. When I wan propose to am wetin I go talk huh huh huh
Why would you want to propose marriage to a woman whose love and intentions toward you are in question? You be mugu? Is that the kind of woman you want to spend the rest of your life with? I'll say "don't propose marriage", at least not until you've cleared up all your doubts chei, i'm beginning to feel like a marriage counsellor already

Dalby:
Even if somebody batter somebody to marry, marriage na marriage lipsrsealed
Only one illicit gin (shnap) under the iroko tree too na marriage
LOL!! grin grin Anyway you have a point there. I guess we don't all have the same objectives when it comes to marriage. With some people, marriage by batter is the bomb! But to others, it has to be a rewarding experience o, and so a lot of emphasis is placed on choosing the right person. Different strokes, I'ld say. . .

chei, and I thought I was talking to person wey get small sense. E be like say you be under-age true true. We'll give you another 10 or so years until you're ready to get married. Until then, let's leave this matter alone.

The funniest aspect is - how many married women in naija ever received any sort of formal proposal?

True true, Mills and Boon and Hollywood don spoil some women head sotey them no fit reason well again.

Abeg, leave wetin them write for motor, enter motor - is it mode of proposal that determines the future of the marriage?
O boy e come be like say you dey dense small sha. The issue here is not the way the guy proposed, and no one is saying that the way he proposes determines how the marriage is going to be. It's the weight of the words "i've finally decided to marry you" that's the issue. A simple "would you marry me" would be far more appropriate, as opposed to using a sentence that gives the impression that he's doing her a favor. No one is saying it has to be elaborate, it just needs to come out right. And if "i've finally decided to marry you" is the best that could come out, then we have a problem o, because that says a lot, seriously!

Abeg forget that matter. Leave the 35 and face ya own. If you like make you go con or scare woman into marrying you. Your eyes go shine well well after the wedding  shocked shocked. You think say marriage na play play thing? Go and ask those men who've made that costly mistake and you'll hear nothing but tales of woe. Just make sure the woman that you're about to marry is marrying you because she truly loves you, not because you scared or conned her into marrying you. Na my 2kobo advice be that.

@post

we men are like wild animals, we would try and restrict captivity(marriage) worse than a falcon would

so when a man looks at a woman and feels hey' i want to captured by this person we need to give him some credit(agreed his proposal was a little TACKY to say the least) but the lady could just as well have put him straight

saying something along the lines i would answer when you get your proposal right

would that have being a bad reply?

or better yet why dint she propose grin
I don't understand why the man should be given credit for proposing. He's trying to get something he wants and should therefore do what needs to be done in order to achieve the objective. That's common sense. He might as well put some finesse into it na. Abi is that too much to ask? It's not like he'll just marry the woman by force na. The proposal is a necessary step in the process, so he might as well get it right. Credit for what again?

AJ,

You don try well well to educate the small girls wey dey yap anyhow for here. Abeg, go rest as them no wan hear sense. Fly wey no wan hear go follow dead bodi enter grave.

Shebi all of them na under-18? No wonder dia mouth dey sharp anyhow for nairaland. Make we see weda in real life, by the time they reach 30-plus, weda them go dey front all this front wey them dey front now.

One thing I have learnt in life is that the guy or babe who is urging u to 'don't tolerate any nonsense' from your friend/wife/hubby is receiving even bigger bullshit at home from their own friend/spouse. But they will come out in public to encourage you to destroy your own relationship while they stomach all kinds of nonsense in order to keep theirs.

The guy is clumsy - perhaps issues with command of English language. But is that a good reason to risk throwing away 4 years of relationship just like that? What if the guy took offence and walked away? Who is the loser? Aisha's friend. But Aisha who is running her mouth here anyhow will prolly swallow even greater nonsense to keep her own relationship.

Husband scarce well well for naija - if you like dey dere dey deceive yourself grin
Abeg leave that matter. Husband scarce ko, husband scarce ni  tongue. Of course I don't agree with the girl's reaction, but let's leave that matter for a moment. Why would a guy come and say "i've finally decided to marry you"? That would totally freak me out. Does he think he's doing me a favor or what? And if that's his thinking, then I better run for my dear life. What woman wants to marry a man who thinks he's doing her a favor by marrying her? Is that same man going to be the father of her kids? or the same one she's  going to be spending the rest of her life with? God forbid bad thing! A lot of the responses i've seen here seem to suggest that the woman should count herself lucky that a man is proposing. Is that anything serious? Just as he's looking for a woman that meet his ideals of a good wife, she's also looking for a man that'll meet her ideals of a good husband. I don't suscribe to using scare tactics (such as "better accept now otherwise you'll become an old maid"wink to con people into doing something as serious as getting into a marriage relationship. That's silly. What happens after the wedding? Then one day he'll get up and say "i've finally decided we move to the village". Then after the kids come, it'll be "i've finally decided that this one should study criminal justice or that one should become a mechanic". Then what next? "i've finally decided bla bla bla" grin Who wants to live with a husband like that  shocked shocked OMG, just thinking about it is giving me a headache already  shocked

OK let me get serious. If I were in the girls shoes, considering that the relationship has been going on for 4years, I would first put that statement in the context of the guy's behavior. If hitherto he's been a control freak, this statement would definitely be the last straw that'll shatter the camel's back. I'll be out of that relationship in a hurry. If I consider that it's just a matter of tactlessness on the guy's part, then we'll certainly be having a discussion. I'll certainly want to know what had been going through his mind -- was he having doubts, or struggling with the idea of marriage? I certainly wouldn't want to tie the knot with someone who's having second thoughts. It's better to give him time to make up his mind. Conversely I certainly wouldn't want to marry someone I'm having second thoughts about either and I'll take all the time I need to make up my mind too.

To all you guys who like to deceive people into believing that men are scarce, abeg shut it for now. That statement is the oldest trick most gullible folks have used to try and get a cheap commitment out a of woman they desperately want to marry. It doesn't work -- at least not for those women who know what they want in a husband. So let's hear word abeg.

"i've finally decided to marry you"huh who says thathuh chei, sounds really wierd walahi.

I thought the local rates alway better, but in this case it wasn't. The $ rate worked out cheaper. The name of the hotel is Sofitel Moorhouse in Ikoyi. This was an executive room, but quite honestly, was the size of a standard room anywhere. I bet there are cheaper hotels though,  but I prefer to stay here, protea or Eko hotel which I'm used too,

I really need to get a good apartment on the Island ASAP. First thing I'll do before relocating,
Chei, looks like hotels have become expensive o  shocked shocked. The apartment on the island is a good idea. UAC-prop was selling apartments in 1004 estate at one time. Not sure if the sale is still going on. IBTC is also selling some near the walter carrington area. Might be worth checking out.

The new PO shares are eligible for bonus and dividends. So we are sure that there will be no bonus and the dividend will be very tiny. There is no other combination that annoys shareholders more.

There's room for profit taking plenty plenty after we don take profit finish i go enter again the fundamentals are bam. Dont forget that the FYE is March and if they deliver what i expect you can be sure the free-fall will be temporary as there will be buying spree in readiness for Q1 action so that should stabilize the price and hopefully it will reasonable enough for me to enter

WHEN do i take  PROFITS? the $1M question cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
Yes o, that's the million dollar question. OK let's do a little scenario analysis here: from the prospectus, they say they'll list PO shares on March 13. From the other companies we've seen do PO, we can safely infer that the PO shares won't actually be listed until like 2wks later. So sometime toward the end of march may be a good time to sell. But make I tell you o, bam or no bam result, someone who bought at 13 and has had to wait for like 3months between the time they submitted their application and when they're able to sell their shares, will sell irrespective of the bam-ness of the result. This especially applies if the current market price is already more than twice the cost price. So expect a lot of selling - unless of course most of the shares were taken up by institutional investors who'll be holding for the long term. My opinion though. For you, I no need to put any caveat empty  cheesy

Thank you God!
my dear naijadr, you watch out for when the PO shares will be listed ok? you'll see some massive free fall once PO-ers begin their rampage. The PO shares were sold at 13, so at today's price you can imagine that even 30 will be a good margin for anyone who wants to sell. Sell before then, reassess fundamentals and then buy back (if you still like the company) at the give-away price (could be as fun as "buy-1-get-2 0r 3-free" compared to today's prices) cheesy. According to the prospectus, new shares should be listed March 13.

@Roughcut, same applies o. cheesy

You see, you cannot sell every stock you have because it is shedding weight. You have to think it out properly. The main reason is that after selling, what is the guarantee that the stock you will buy next will not suffer the same fate?

This is the first question you have to answer. On what basis did you choose the ones that are losing and do you now have a different strategy which you believe will work when making your next choices? If you can answer this positively, then you can go ahead and sell. If not, stay put and watch the market.

UBA and Diamond are not stocks you should be looking at every day for now. They may not be heading north soon but they are not heading permanently south either.

Japaul is a lot more trickier but I predict it will still make a temporary bull run and you can at least minimize your loss. One important info you may want to get about Japaul in their authorized share capital now to see if in fact they can still accommodate a bonus.

Considering the margin between the PO price and the current price, and that fact that the PO shares don't qualify for dividends or bonus there is a perception that the share price will be diluted with a bonus. Frankly, most folks I know were piling up Japaul because of the bonus rumour but the rumour is weaker now because of this PP they were supposed to be doing for those that did not get full allocation.

I don't know if CICO always works as get in today get out next week for everybody else. It does not always work for me that way. See how many extra weeks I had to hold on to my Bank PHB before it finally hit N32. However, it eventually did and even higher.

I picked up IEI to do CICO about 2 weeks ago. One week CICO planned but here I am with it still staring at me in my CSCS account because I did not sell with 7% net gain the first week and now it is in the red. It happens sometimes.

Don't panic when prices fall because they can rise again. Re-assess the situation and see if you have better choices out there to use the money for before you sell.

This will not always help though. I'm sure this strategy would have failed someone with Capoil that was waiting for it to stabilize. Of course, there was substansive news to suggest that this may go on a free fall. In this kind of situation you have to sell at all cost.
You don hammer the nail right on top of the head! grin

But Pumping, you know say that your bank phb na the purple-eyed monster called "greedy" na im cause you to hold on too long abi cheesy I been warn you that time but you no hear cool

More info on bigtreat, from proshare:

For the first time in two weeks (10-trading days), Bigtreat Nigeria Plc stock price appears to have put in a bottom on very heavy volume (8.5 million shares). The stock opened at N10.77k, a price below yesterday's close of N11.30k, and traded up to N11.80k, the intraday high, and closed at the intraday.

Today's trading volume is the largest in the last 6 trading days. For the first time in 9 days, the stock price closed above the opening price, and for the second time in 9 days the stock closed above the previous day’s close. The aforementioned trading patterns are all positive technical trends.

Today’s intraday low of N10.77k is the lowest price in the last 42 trading days, and the price will act as a temporary support for the stock price. Reviewing the candlestick chart above, it is obvious that today’s trading pattern is first white solid candle in the last 13 trading days. The pattern indicates complete controls by the bulls.

Although the stock is below all its relevant simple moving averages, I will buy the stock at the current price, and put a stop loss at N10.77K. It should be noted that prior to today’s close of N11.80K, the stock has had seventeen (17) consecutive down days (see graph below).
I was finally compelled to send an email yesterday to one of the issuing houses that was part of the team that brought the stock to the capital market. I was really baffled to see a new issue have such consecutive days of downtrend.
It is nice to see a reversal trend, but I would want to see another bullish day to be convinced of the trend reversal. For now you stop loss price should be N10.77k - Chuck Biosah

Yes, it's not illiquid anymore. @Windywendy - Based on the restructuring at Niwicable as described below, I came up with 1.1B shares that will be oustanding. Is this any way near what you have?

-------
So when we finish the exercise of restructuring, the shareholding structure will be Truebond, 62 percent equity, Odua Investment, 15 percent and the remaining 23 percent will be held by15,640 Nigerians
--------
My figures are a bit higher. I came up with 1.7b (1.1b divided by 62%) and put the fair value at about 8, based on a projected P/E of between 27 and 30, which I believe is reasonable for a company with growth prospects similar to those of niwicable. Of course, I bought at an average of 7.2. The company has very outstanding growth prospects, so we wait and see how the market will price the stock once results get released.
