Christianity Etc › Re: The Creation- How Compelling Is The Christian Narative? by winner01(m): 11:06am On Jun 28, 2015
omenka:
Good morning.

I'm not a regular on this board- in fact this is my first time ever of visiting and I see you guys are doing quite a great job here. Kudos. smiley

For some of us not so ardent in the "ways of Christ", there are certain questions that have been tugging at our minds for years and I hope bringing it here, someone knowledgeable could help put things into clearer perspective.

Now, I've been having some difficulty believing the Christian narative of how man came to being. I don't believe a hindered percent in the Big Bang or Darwinism as well, but if you ask me, so far, both seem to offer even better explanation as to the question of life and how it has come to evolve.

According to our religion, the first men were Adam and Eve and every other man is a product of their procreation. My questions then are:

1. What race was Adam and Eve??

2. It is said that after Cain killed Abel, he saw banished from Eden and went to live in some distant place (make una no mind me, I no sabi bible well well..) where he married and bore lots of children- question is, where did those people come from? Were they his brothers and sisters??

3. How did we end up with the different races we have today- where did Whites, Blacks, Asians, indians, Arabs, Hispanics, and Persians with all their genotypical/physiological differences come from??

4. If we were to accept the variations in "3" as products of genetic mutation, could we then extend to argument to explain the origin of man as a product of genetic mutation/evolution?? cheesy

I wish the pastors and evangelical scientists in the house could shed some light on this.

Thanks.

It is important to recognize that Cain and Abel were
both full-grown adults at the time that Cain killed
Abel. Both Cain and Abel were farmers, who tended
to their own lands and flocks (Genesis 4:2-4 ). The
Bible does not tell us how old Cain and Abel were,
but they very likely could have been in their 30’s or
40’s. The Bible does not specifically mention Adam
and Eve having any children between Abel and Seth
(Genesis 4:25 ). However, it is highly unlikely that
the two most perfect human beings in the history of
the world, Adam and Eve, would not have any
children over several decades. Adam and Eve had
many children after Seth ( Genesis 5:4 ), so why
would they not also have had other children
between Abel and Seth? The Bible does not say that
Seth was Adam and Eve’s first child, or even first
son, after Abel was killed. Rather, it states that Seth
was born as a “replacement” for Abel. Genesis
chapter 5 traces the genealogy of Seth. Prior to his
death, Abel was likely the “chosen” son that would
eventually produce the Messiah ( Genesis 3:15 ). It
is in this sense that Seth “replaced” Abel.

So, whom was Cain afraid of? Cain was afraid of
his own brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces,
who were already born and would be capable of
seeking revenge. The fact that Cain had a wife
(Genesis 4:17 ) is a further evidence that Adam and
Eve had other children after Cain and Abel, but
before Seth.

1. If the girl hit first. Any woman that act manly should be expected to be treated like a man.
true
2. If that woman disregard my pride by putting me in the situation where i will lose respect from people. I'll hit her. My wife can't abuse, or hit my mum in my presence and expect me to act cool na.
very true
3. Things my sister will do that will make me hit her just to correct her, if my wife does the same, i'll do the same.
Not necessarily, i can be more lenient with my wife
4. A woman can be hit anytime for her wrong doing, but the hit should be love-inspired and not anger-inspired.
which one is love inspired hitting? grin
Christianity Etc › Jesus Christ And The Old Testament.. by winner01(op): 5:52pm On Jun 26, 2015
The Old Testament prophets said "Thus says the Lord..." When
Jesus came, he never used this term. He said "Truly, truly, I say
to you..." (John 12:24), or "Moses said...but I say to
you..." (Matthew 5). And this is the glorious truth: The prophets
spoke FOR the Lord, but Jesus spoke AS the Lord. JESUS
CHRIST IS LORD! Nobody could and can speak like Him. Jesus
also said "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall
never pass away." (Matthew 24:35) Something more: The Bible
is the Constitution of the Kingdom of God. No two-thirds
majority of any parliament on earth can change it. Democratic
vote or consensus does not decide Bible truth. "Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven" (Psalm 119:89). Jesus said: I
AM THE TRUTH. (John 14:6)

Are you blessed?

ok, so how do you suggest we dont deceive ourselves?
Christianity Etc › 10 Reasons For Speaking In Tongues by winner01(op): 12:28pm On Jun 26, 2015
Most Christians—charismatics included—don't understand
the true benefits of speaking in tongues, nor why this gift is
so valuable. Here are 10 reasons to prove why we need this
wonderful gift.

1. The manifestation that came with the gift of the Holy
Spirit was speaking in tongues. It wasn't the wind, fire, noise
or feeling of God's presence that was evidence of the gift
being received but a spirit language—believers began
speaking languages of the Spirit they didn't understand. It
was God's plan for the gift to function as a spirit language
for His children (Acts 2:4, 11; 1 Cor. 14:2).

2. Jesus commanded us to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
When Jesus commissioned the disciples to wait in
Jerusalem until they received the promise of the Father, He
didn't say, "Do this if you feel led to do so, or if it fits in your
doctrinal or denominational beliefs, or if you have the time,
or if you are so inclined, or if you feel comfortable about it."
No! Jesus commanded them to wait until they received the
gift of the Holy Spirit. Since Jesus put such importance on
their receiving this gift, that's more than enough reason for
every Christian to seek God until they receive it too (Acts
1:4; 5:32; John 14:16-17; Eph. 5:18).

3. The Scriptures exhort us to be filled with the Spirit and to
pray in the new tongues of our spirit language. Our spirit
language enables us to live in the Spirit, walk in the Spirit, be
led of the Spirit, have the fruit of the Spirit, manifest the gifts
of the Spirit and go from glory to glory until we are
transformed into His same image (Gal. 5:22-25; Rom. 8:14;
1 Cor. 12:7-11; 14:15; Eph. 5:18; Acts 19:2; 2 Cor. 3:18).

4. A spirit language is the greatest gift the Holy Spirit can
give a believer. Jesus is the greatest gift God could give for
the redemption of the world, and the Holy Spirit is the
greatest gift Jesus could give to His church. Of all the
resources in heaven and the eternal universe, nothing is
more valuable, beneficial or important for the Holy Spirit to
give the individual child of God than her own spirit language
(1 Cor. 12:31; 14:4).

5. Our spirit language enables us to have spirit-to-Spirit
communication with God. Humans are spirit beings clothed
with flesh-and-bone bodies. While man's sin deadened the
spirit, Jesus brings the spirit back to life by imparting His
everlasting life into us. The Holy Spirit gives us a spirit
language so we can communicate directly with God (John
4:24; 1 Cor. 15:45; Gen. 2:7; Rom. 5:12; John 3:3-5, 16).

6. Praying in tongues builds and increases our faith. Faith is
the medium of exchange for all heavenly things, just as
money is the medium of exchange for all earthly things. A
major way to increase our faith is to pray in the tongues of
our spirit language (Rom. 12:6; Jude 1:20; Mark 9:23; Matt.
9:29).

7. Praying in tongues activates the fruit of the Spirit. It's
vital and beneficial to have each of the spiritual attributes
become active and mature in us. Praying in tongues helps us
fulfill God's predestined purpose for us to be conformed to
the image of His Son (Gal. 5:22-23; 2 Cor. 3:18; 1 Cor.
13:1-13; Rom. 8:29).

8. Praying in our spirit language is the main way we fulfill
the scriptural admonition to "pray without ceasing."
Christians can pray in tongues at any time. If we are in a
place where it isn't convenient or wise to speak out loud in
tongues, we can pray with our inner man without making an
audible sound (Eph. 6:18; 1 Thess. 5:17; Matt. 26:41; Luke
18:1; 21:36; 1 Cor. 14:15).

9. The Holy Spirit directs our spirit language to pray in
accordance with the will of God. Probably the only time we
can be assured that we are praying 100 percent in the will of
God is when we are praying in our spirit language. God
always answers requests that are made in alignment with
His will (Rom. 8:27; 1 John 5:14-15).

10. Praying in tongues quiets the mind. When Dr. Andrew
Newberg, a neuroscientist, compared brain scans of
Christians praying in tongues with Buddhist monks chanting
and Catholic nuns praying, the study showed the frontal
lobes—the brain's control center—went quiet in the brains of
Christians talking in tongues, proving that speaking in
tongues isn't a function of the natural brain but an operation
of the Spirit (1 Cor. 14:2, 14).

Bless you.

its the truth and i say it as simple as it is.

Look at all the men with successful and powerful in the world, they are not threatened by their wives. Its only a man with nothing to offer that feels he has to control someone else to feel significant.

Oprah has been in her partner for Stedman Graham for 31yrs. You dont see him going up and down the streets screaming feminism this feminism that.

Beyonce and Jay Z one of the most powerful couples in the world. You ever heard Jay Z making noise because his wife empowers women?

Chimamanda married to a doctor. He has his life going on for him and you will never hear him shouting anti-christ because his wife advocates for gender equality.

Come to NL and see what joblessness has caused for other men and you will see whats up. A successful man doesnt see his wife as a threat that needs to be kept under him. She is an asset that can equally contribute to their future and legacy.
moana, no sane man sees his more successful wife as a threat, look aroung ull find several instances.......
if u look well, ull notice that ladies can occupy even the topmost Nigerian office....and pls dont give me abduction and molestation scenarios cos it goes both ways.....
