Goodday mr @wip7.
I got my acceptance letter yesterday from CIU and I want to apply for the student visa. I read your previous posts and saw the documents required but that was before the covid issue. Please i will like to know the present documents required and the estimated visa fee.
Thanks.

Hi,

Good afternoon family, please is Lockdown affecting giving out admission I apply for a month now. What is the way out man.

Admission is processed online and usually at EMU and CSU takes 1-3 days for undergraduate admission while graduate admission may take 7-14 days due to various departmental evaluations.

You can always call the school you applied to for evaluation. Each university have international office telephone you can call or email via the contact address.

So if I'm travelling on Friday I can't do my test today?

I believe my earlier post is clear enough; validity is 72 hrs counting from day test was taken. Check your flight and see when you will arrive your destination.

Because it takes 24hours to recieve the result

It’s is not a FIXED rule that results must be obtained after 24 h.

The time it takes to test your sample and receive results can vary based on the type of test that was administered. Some PCR tests may take only a few hours to yield results if the samples are tested on-site and or it may take a few days if the samples are sent elsewhere for testing.

So this will depend on the hospital, clinics or place you are doing your test; just ensure it’s the RT-PCR test not antigen test. Some of my recent students that traveled for studies from Nigeria got the results same day; don’t know how much but I remembered one did at Lagos airport recently.

Best wishes

Hello Wip7
please my uncle is claiming I just have done pcr test 72hrs before departure, I told him it was not making sense to me and I called one of our member in this forum to ask.
he told me it must not be more than 72hrs before arrival at ercan airport.
Then i told my uncle he just called back again saying he called EMU and the school said it should be 72hrs before departure.
I'm really confused because i read on emu site that the result should be valid within 3(72hrs) days on arrival

According to this latest category, individuals who are coming to the country from abroad must present a negative PCR test result (done within the last 3 days) to the Ministry of Health officer on their arrival.

Therefore, do your PCR just one day before your travel and get the result that day or on traveling date depending your travel arrival to maintain the validity. It must be valid upon arrival and they start to count from the day test was done not when result was issued.

Thank you ohh. Not a student tho but I hope restriction doesn’t affect tourists. Yes, one is ready to quarantine upon arrival . Thank you

Cyprus is on lockdown due to Covid, all touristic sites are currently on lockdown, and intercity travel is restricted; hence, not the right time for tourism.

please, something came to my mind; the website you posted is for Turkish procedure; can one use Turkish evisa to enter North Cyprus? so one wnt need to get to Abuja.

The site I posted is the only site to get a visa to travel to TR. North Cyprus. No, you cant use Turkish e-visa to enter Cyprus is only for Turkey.

then please, application is not for student so i hope tourists are not restricted. yes, we can quarantine on arrival.
thank you.

Travelers are currently not restricted; however, TRNC is on lockdown so no place the tourists will visit unless staying in quarantine and hotel after quarantine.

Hello,
Pls I have the following questions:

1. Is north Cyprus visa application made via republic of Turkey websites.. the attached site?

Yes, apply here https://www.konsolosluk.gov.tr/Visa/NewApplication

2. Is north Cyprus open to Nigerians now. I mean any restrictions?

Was not closed for Nigerians before. Students can travel and get quarantined upon arrival.

3. Pls who has traveled recently and what’s the estimated cost of flight now?

Flight prices depend on several factors including dates, airline, airport traveling from. Visit Turkish airline, Egypt, Emirate, Qatar websites to check flight prices its free to check price on airline websites.

Hello professor. First of all I am currently a Computer Science PhD student in China. My research is on Graph Neural Networks based Sequential Recommendation. I would like your input on something please. The requirements for graduation is basically 3 SCI papers then a thesis ofcourse. My concern is will 3 papers be enough to compete for a postdoc position especially in European Universities?

The 3 papers requested are just a graduation requirement and you are not limited to get more. To answer the question; 3 SCI papers are not enough considering the current trend in the EU now; you will be competing with graduates from other EU, USA, Africa, and Asian universities with several papers. Considering my experience as an external jury/reviewer for postdoc and grants in many EU countries; some of the important factors the reviewers check are:

----Background skills and experience
----Number of reputable journals that are accessed in WOS (very important)
--- WOS citations (excluding self-citation)
----H-index (in WOS)
----Your percentage as the first author and as the corresponding author in your papers accessed in WOS

Each of these parameters is allocated a point which varies across universities.

At wip7. Hope you are doing great?

Please, explain this for me.

1) You are required to prepare a draft manuscript. ( Between 6000-7000 words)

2) The first step involves the submission of an abstract and the proposed structure (section and subsections you intend to cover)

3) After the approval of the structure, the first draft of the assignment is expected.

The topic is: Information Technology Application in the energy sector.

Hello,

All you listed seem to be a guide and it’s self-explanatory. Follow the steps and do as expected.

Nice to see suck thread.

PhD Accounting (Nigeria)

Was meant to conclude my PhD last year but sit to corona and strike still on my proposal defence.

Thank you for stopping by; this particular thread was opened to encourage, support, and guide intending and current Ph.D. students. You said you were meant to conclude your PhD last year but still on your proposal defence; seems very contrasting. I did not study in Nigeria but I don't think that's how it should be. A proposal must have been defended earlier before your commenced your Ph.D., unless the Ph.D. in Nigeria is different from what am conversant with

Three (3) publications, many seminars

For the sake of all of us trying to learn, can you give us the titles of your 3 publications and name of the journals you published them?

Wants to do another PhD after finishing my current PhD.

However, your profile here on Feb 09, 2021, is totally different from what you posted on this thread, below you stated you are going for Master in Education; https://www.nairaland.com/6321900/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/233#98891017

Am just curious how much you love education, like you are doing PhD, want to do the second PhD and you had a master in Accounting and Financial Management from the UK and want to do Another master or diploma in Canada. Kindly share your publication titles/journals so that upcoming education lover can be inspired.

Just Published (Feb 09): Reduction of chemical oxygen demand from olive mill wastewater

As part of ongoing funded research; the current study focused on the reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD) from phytotoxic polyphenol polluted olive mill wastewater via low-cost photocatalytic tech.

Note: Higher COD levels mean a greater amount of oxidizable organic material in the sample, which will reduce dissolved oxygen (DO) levels in the water which is highly dangerous. This research reduced the COD by nearly 99% making the wastewater useable for irrigation.

Researcher: Work solely carried out by WIP7 and published in JCIS having impact factor of 7.5 and indexed under SCI. The funding is aimed to study and design a 1000 L cost-efficient treatment system specifically for olive mill wastewater.

The earlier part of the research was published: https://www.nairaland.com/2044554/thread-phd-students/82#98437879

You can be admitted for admission, EMU is ranked around 400 among best universities globally (please visit THE or each university website for their recognitions and rankings).

The majority of hospitals in Cyprus uses Turkish language and the few foreigners have seen employed in private hospitals/clinics in TRNC speak Turkish fluently.

Morning great scholar, I have been invited for PhD interview for one of the school I apply. Please kindly share with me tips and what to expect during the interview. @prof wip7

Ph.D. Interview:

Generally, HR employees, heads of departments, and mostly the potential supervisors are people who interview prospective Ph.D. applicants.

Basic tips:

----All prospective Ph.D. students' interviews are different. Hence, when planning for your interview, be versatile and do not take the advice of others as definitive, but use it to build on.

----Respond to questions in a way that show that you are independent and original by engaging with fair statements in the discussion and supporting your claims.

-----Don't pretend you know stuff that you don't. If something is not known to you, admit it. It's better than providing a vague response that signals that you don't know what you're talking about.

---Don't get too emotional and don't try to be funny because the interviewers likely come from different cultures. It's fine for excitement, just not if it's exaggerated.

The common questions

General questions--like background and personal qualities: Your academic background and experience in research work and academic environments would interest any Ph.D. supervisor. Briefly, you need to show your experience of writing papers, your capacity to work on long-term and short-term research projects, and some demanding skills/experience.

Motivation: They're likely to ask you why you want to obtain that Ph.D. degree in that field. Since this will describe your dedication to the project, it is as vital as your academic skills.

Ph.D. study-related questions: They would most definitely want to make sure that in this field of research you have some background information. So a way forward will be to recognize the key people in your field, studies that you can use as a basis for starting the study you are going to use, and methodologies. Your research proposal will mention both of these points. But be able during the interview to express and expand on them.

Career plans: How the prospective Ph.D. influences your ambition and aspirations.

Your own question: At the end of the interview you are generally asked to ask questions. Ask intelligent questions that likely buttress your interest and dedication in the program, you may ask about the facility, funding, knowledge-transfer and research-to-market potential.

The requirement for OKTB:

----Acceptance letter from the university
----Payment of Tuition fee receipt/confirmation letter of payment from University.
----Academic results (does not require attestation)
----Flight (generally a return ticket from a Turkish airline)
---OKTB charge (this is not fixed since its a service, so different vendor charges different cost)

The process takes 48-96 hrs processing before flying.

Note:

OKTB is not a visa; it's just an approval code signifying the passenger is ok-to-board the flight. Just like a visa holder, someone traveling with OKTB can be denied entry if the entry immigration officer does not find the person having the required/original documents or passenger appearing to have ulterior motives.

Very important:

Cyprus universities do not undergo industrial strike actions and the environment is suitable for studies; however, all intending students must ensure they have financial capability or stable sponsor to study in Cyprus (including paying the tuition fee, living expenses, and maintenance cost). Jobs are relatively scarce.

OK thank u sir. I will apply with the statement of result from my high school. It has my principal's signature and everything. I'll notarize and attest it at the ministries. But i will still be getting a scratch card since the result is a 2016 one. I really hope CIU accepts it during registration proper and all goes well. When I travel back to Nigeria in august, I'll retrieve the original from the school. Hope that will be fine, sir?

Usually, the university will give you a form for missing original documents and time to supply the original documents which often ranges from 1-3 months.

Hello MR Wip7
First I must commend you on what you are doing, may the good lord be with you.
Sir,
I am an HND graduate "Agric Extension and Management"
33yrs, married with kids.
For the financial implications of studying I believe I can work it out.
But my questions are:
* Can I apply for MSc direct with my HND "UPPER CREDIT" (MSc economics, Management etc)

CIU admits students with HND for a master's program and you may have to take foundation courses and pay for them.

* Which is preferable Cyprus / TRCN

Preferable in terms of what? South Cyprus does not admit HND for master directly.

* What are the options for work will studying

Jobs are scarce in both TRNC and South Cyprus. Both countries are mainly for studies only, while some students have found jobs the salaries can only be for some supports. All students are advised to have full tuition or a stable sponsor.

I'll stop here sir, I await your responses, thanks to all the contributors.

Best wishes

Good morning wip7, please I have a question. My secondary school principal just told me that my waec certificate will be available on February 24th. What I have with me is the statement of result. Should I use that to apply for the admission on the 16th of next month into CIU? Or will it not be accepted at the airport by the officials since I plan on using OK to board? Please I need ur assistance as I don't want to waste my efforts. Thanks sir. And also, do I need to authenticate the result despite using OK to board? Can I present it like that to the immigration officers?

You have asked this question before on Jan 5th... The answer has not changed on January 14th. Kindly check the previous response.

You can apply for admission anytime with the statement of result and if your result is very new; get the scratch card, the results on your school letterhead with the original stamp, and notarized it, which will be fine with OKtb. Since the certificate will be out on 24th Feb, then no issues. Take note OKTB rules are not fixed so it changes based on the time of flying.

Best wishes

Goodmorning Whip! I just got admission to study at Near east university TRNC,(undergraduate program) I’m 30 years of age. I want to know my chances of getting the Turkish T-visa. Or is it advisable to apply for the Ok to board.?

Seems to be the same person with different userIDs. I personally have not worked at the embassy before and visas are issued by the consular office after evaluating your application. I can't comment on the chances of you getting or being rejected a visa; what I can say is the ministry of education and immigration in Cyprus has proposed age limits for undergraduate applicants in certain countries in which Nigeria is inclusive. So most of the universities don't issue admission above the age limit; since you have been admitted you can apply for a visa or OKTB.

Best wishes.

If you are European, Cypriot or have passport that is visa free or visa on arrival to Europe—-then you can travel easily. Otherwise you should have visas and no south embassy or consulate in TRNC and Vice versa.

And also is there any affordable good school u can recommend and enlighten me on how one can achieve this purpose...Thanks and God bless bro

As I had explained above, average medical tuition yearly are:

Cyprus medicine goes 15-20,000$ years

South America: 11-14,000$ / year

USA: 38–68,000$/yearly.

Many students have also found medical studies in Ukrain and Russia cheaper. However, since Russian and Ukrain medical schools are not structured in a way for students to take USLME/PLAB; those degrees receive lower recognition especially in USA, India and UK. There are general complain that they students are not directly exposed to pure medical training etc. Generally any foreign degrees are often acceptable in Africa while some will need to pass national exams.

So when it comes to medical studies; not just the tuition that need to be considered; will it be accepted in my country? Will I receive adequate training and practices ? Will be accepted in major developed nations? Those questions should be focused unlike those going to study tourism or business or engineering...

Good day mr wip7, please can a first year student in CIU transfer to another university in another country in the second year? Will his grades and cgpa be transferred too?

Cyprus universities and ministries are currently implementing strategies to only admit genuine students that will graduate from Cyprus not the ones that will spend just a semester or one year and transfer from Cyprus to another country.

Hence, If you currently interested in studying in UK, USA, CANADA or any European countries etc....just apply to these countries directly as increasing number of students perceived as non-geinune affects those that wants to study and complete their education in Cyprus.

Some of the proposed policy are:

—-inabilities to transfer grade/courses/transcript
—-consultation with embassies
—-payment of full 4 or 2 years tuition as the case maybe.
——other policies to limit those that will be using Cyprus as transfer zones etc.

So for your specific question; I will advise you to email or call CIU regarding your intention to transfer after 1 year they will be in best position to tell you.

Sir, please what's the least amount of cash a student can bring in?

The least amount is 1$ if such student already paid for tuition and accommodation before arrival. However, considering the fact that upon arrival students will need to buy a new sim card, buy some cooking kinds of stuff, or eat out, take a taxi, pay for medical tests and get some textbooks etc; from 1000-50,000$ will be fine to sort all possible things and be on a safer side. Also, sending money these days from Nigeria to abroad seems to get difficult as most banks will require a sender to get foreign currency which is now high on in black markets...while some banks may be able to process naira to USD/euro/GBP via Form A but this may take a long period and can put a new student into a real problem. So go as much as you can to cover immediate expenses.

And will the students pay for the hotel fees during the quarantine?

Currently, students are exempted from quarantined payments. Take note; the rules change all time. TRNC is waiting for vaccines according to recent rules so when it comes the rule can change as well.

Also, how long will a student that paid for the full package stay before he or she is given his or her accommodation in the dorm and before he or she starts eating in the cafeteria? Is it immediately after the quarantine or when?

This question is specific. Only the concerned university can answer that. On a general note from quarantine, students are delivered to or leave for their accommodation. You can email your university for a direct answer to this.

I hope this helps!

OK tnx.. I looked at CIU and their tuition fees but I'm kinda confused, I made a calculation of £1916. My confusion is will this fee be paid every semester or is it the fee for the entire year?

https://www.ciu.edu.tr/page/tuition-and-fees-10239

I'll be grateful if you could help me understand it better.

CIU undergrad fee/year for academic year 2021 is 2551 euro + VAT.

CIU master program if such master does not have a foundation course (deficiency courses) to complete before the master = 3141 euro + VAT (whole fees).

If the master student will need to take some foundation courses, each cost 120 euros.

Note:

—-Above is one academic year undergraduate fee.
——Above fees is for a full master program .

——Above fees exclude accommodation, living and maintanence fees.

—-These fees are actually 20% discounted because of pandemic, an undergrad is generally 4 years; meaning if the pandemic is over the above fees can go back to its previous level (20% more).
