emmanick: I had a meeting on Saturday with one of the ministry of health/immigration scientists who happens to be one of my colleagues; according to her in the next two weeks Nigerian won’t stlll be allowed to come in. Meanwhile, if you check ministry of health and immigration site of TRNC you will see updates weekly regarding the nationals allowed into TRNC. I will also post update on this thread. Currently; TRNC is vaccinating the citizen and any person within TRNC. All Professors interested to take vaccines are currently being vaccinated with the hope that 90% of the population get vaccinated before next semester on September. Then, some new rule can come up which means travelers maybe vaccinated upon arrival. So if your semester starts in September 2021; no need to panic; there a rolling updates weekly! |

For students traveling to TRNC Every 2 weeks there are certain changes in this table below and travelers are encouraged to check before making the trips so they won't be returned upon arrival. Also; ensure you have a bank card that can pay online(cash not accepted); upon arrival to Turkey before proceeding to TRNC you will be required to pay for the Covid tracker band currently cost 750 TL and after your self-tracking quarantine some of the money is refunded. Check your country below and see which color you belong to: Those coming from DARK RED are currently forbidden to enter TRNC. Interested in studying at TRNC, contact WIP7. 1 Share

Joyce4lovelead:. I have replied your email regarding this in detail. To add more: As I have repeatedly mentioned on this thread both part 1 and 2 of North Cyprus threads. Applicants should deal with only attested and well-recognized agents. You can buy flight tickets, pay tuition and accommodation yourself without sending the money to your agent as university admission letters generally contains banking details to pay and flights are easily buyable online via the airline website. Best wishes! |

ejibaba: Senior lecturer. Abroad mostly European (Excluding the UK) and American system; Assistant Professor is junior professorship rank (the first level of professorship). Depending on countries, usually achieved either immediately after PhD or Postdocs if the applicants meet the qualifying score. While associate professor is obtained 2-5 years after Assistant Professor position then Full Professor 4-5 years after associate. Each of this professorship level has a qualifying score which is largely dependent on published paper (50-60%), books, editorial or management position, project and funding acquisition, graduate supervision etc. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

adigun98: The degrees from universities in Northern Cyprus is globally recognized with higher recognition than majority of universities in Africa which is reflected in number of accreditation bodies, ranking and profile and infrastructural development. If you visit Each university in North Cyprus; you will find a page that specifies organizations, accreditation bodies and institutions recognizing such university See below for a link to EMU recognition, you can read as well and many other universities in TRNC have shown on their website as well. To summarize; below are African graduates from EMU excelling in Nigeria, Canada and the UK. Note: Salihu earned UG degree at EMU and was among the youngest Assistant professor in the UK during his time. Visit the news article of EMU to read more. Best wishes

ghettonews: You need to improve your education quality-wise and read and respond with greater caution. I am a highly trained scientist, specifically a research professor; as a result of my education, I do not answer until I have fully comprehended the situation, at which point I will offer a solution or response. If you're well-educated, you'll see that I asked the poster two questions, which I'll repeat here: — Why do you still want me to shed light on it? —Why not you just apply to countries like the USA, UK or any European, Asian or African countries? When a question mark appears after some words in English, it denotes a QUESTION that requires an answer. When the questions have been answered and I have a clear understanding of the problem, I will respond if it is worth responding to. |

The embassy does not specify any fixed amount to secure a visa, however, in general the consular officer do maths with 1-2 years cost as stated above to see that you can afford studying abroad without overly dependent on working. |

ejibaba: Yes, I believe that is an excellent start. This will probably increase the chances of securing post-doctoral opportunities. I wish you the best of luck in your job search and encourage you to never stop growing. What justification does one have to claim multiple publication in a year most especially for social science disciplines and no funding in all? Is it what is obtainable? Would it not seem questionable? I don't understand this section. How would you respond to this reviewers comment: “ I doubt the data used for the analysis, as the authors failed to justify the process that account for the ease in obtaining a response rate of 75%”. I'll respond by providing the raw data's source, as well as the whole data set and an explanation of how the data were acquired. Finally, how do you approach scholars in your field for mentoring and not make a fool of yourself most especially when you have a PhD and there are expectations that you should know certain basic things but in all honesty, you don’t know them. Being a scholar entails more than just having a PhD or the title of professor. A genuine scholar is always learning from himself, others, objects, and the environment in order to grasp and understand the principle and laws of a specific or general thing. It is not a crime to ask questions in order to grow or to understand what he or she does not know, and it should not be viewed as a sign of inferiority. PhD is merely a degree; it does not provide the possessor omnipresence. It's simple: write whoever knows more than you sincerely, express your desire to learn something, and mention that you didn't have the opportunity to acquire it while doing your PhD for whatever reason. However, you realize that you must learn it in order to progress, and you will gladly be trained or directed in learning such skills/knowledge. 4 Likes 1 Share |

ejibaba: I believe there are opportunities to get faculty positions in practically any country that is open to foreigners, regardless of where the applicants received their education. However, these odds will vary depending on the country, the university's regulations for overseas applicants, and, most importantly, the applicant's verified profile. Must one have a degree abroad? To begin with, if you plan to work in a country where you did not graduate, your degree will be from another country (abroad, because if you want to work in the UK and graduated from Nigerian, means your degree is from abroad). And I believe your point is that if you have a degree from a country like the United Kingdom, for example, you want to know if it will be possible to secure a faculty position in Canada or the United States, or any other country. According to my experience, that of many of my students, and that of some acquaintances, having a foreign degree is not required for a variety of countries, but there are a number of countries that either directly or indirectly demand a degree from a specific country. For example, many countries in the Middle East, particularly Dubai, frequently mention in their job advertisements that they prefer applicants with degrees from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Some may not demand degrees from specific nations, but they have somehow come to believe that degrees from specific nations would be worthwhile to increase their profile or that someone from a given country is better equipped than someone from another set of countries/regions. Publication strength: what number? The majority of good schools in other countries hire depending on the applicant's profile. There are systems in place to analyze a large number of applications contending for a restricted number of slots. The most crucial aspect will be having a very competitive and verifiable profile. Some of the elements to be evaluated will be determined by the primary function of the academic position. If the job is mostly research-based, the employer will be seeking candidates with a big number of credible publications, experience managing financed projects, supervising a number of students, and research in areas that are in high demand. Some employment advertisements will specify the minimum number of publications, their index, and quality, as well as the frequency with which they are published. For example, a good university in Finland (LUT) is looking to appoint four faculty members; their advertisement states that: -- applicants must have at least 20 SCI-based papers that are searchable in WOS. -- applicants must have at least 10 papers in the last 5 years and must have supervised at least 2 graduate students. --applicants must have a minimum of 10 h-index. Only teaching positions that do not need research will have standards that reflect applicants with a good teaching background. Is age a barrier? I don't believe so, however, most universities favor applicants who have sufficient energy remaining in their bodies. So I believe would be much easier to employ someone less than 60 years than someone nearly 90 years unless that person has the key to unravel things that have never existed. What about conference attendance: Is it a requirement? The conference is part of the evaluation, although it has less importance in my opinion and from what I've seen. The conference is primarily intended to assess how applicants convey their research findings across numerous platforms. The reason for this is that, unlike published articles, books, or chapters, several conferences cannot be authenticated. I've seen a CV where someone listed 50 conferences but only 6 publications. It appears illogical to me. 3 Likes 3 Shares |

babyfaceafrica: Oh this attitude of these supervisors need to change so as to actually train the students they are supervising. When I was a student; my supervisor always plan for summer each year for us to travel and he will be the one reminding me all time that we should apply for conferences during the summer. I remembered we were in Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania one summer; I went back to the hotel I found like 10 bottles of Coca Cola stuffed in our bags. I was like boss why do we have so much cola he said he realized cola is cheaper than water in that location…I just laughed. So the relationship is like friends and that’s make everything possible. When I graduated and got job in the UK; and I told him I will leave, I can see him his face he feels bad. Not because he does not want me to progress but because we maintain good friendship which he feels will get lost with distance. Immediately he told me his wife younger brother is a professor in another UK university that he can convince him if I can work there rather so we can keep in touch. So supervisor relationship should not be a monster-vampire relationship should be someone trying to train or guide a student. Today my supervisor and myself owns a science-based tech company together in my university. When i told him am developing some conductive inks to some start-up on Canada; Immediately he told me I want to be there during opening speech so I can tell them am your supervisor ; he likes to show off like this. For me; both female and male students in my lab we maintain very similar cordial relationships. I believe that how it’s should be. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

Houston17: Good day! This is your supervisor who happen to be human just like you. To be able to work well with any person be it a supervisor, senior colleagues or others; you must be able to talk to them and clear things directly with them. If you don’t understand your supervisor message; kindly write back or visit your supervisor and let him/her know you don’t understand and ask for exact things he/she meant. Asking questions is part of learning. Also don’t assume you know something unless is exactly what it means. Best wishes! 4 Likes 2 Shares |
