seyi doesn't have that capacity bro.

He might have what it takes but he may end up not living up to the hype because Oyo people don't really value (infrastructural) development. Rather they prefer someone that will be sharing money. In that aspect Seyi will probably do well because he likes to throw money around. Those around him are more for sharing money than development. But time will tell.

Ooni invites Olugbo for clarification, insists Ndigbo’re not Jews

Igbo, original owners of Ile-Ife — Ohanaeze, Says Oduduwa means ‘last born’ (Odudunwa) in Igboland

By Chioma Gabriel & Gbenga Olarinoye

OSOGBO — Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has reaffirmed his position on the family ties between Yoruba and Igbo nations, that the Igbos are from Ile-Ife, saying the two major ethnic groups in Nigeria are inseparable members of the same family. Ooni Ogunwusi stated this, weekend at his Ile-Oodua palace in Ile-Ife, while receiving the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna who accompanied the delegation of African Farmers And Cultural Organization on a courtesy visit to the palace.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Moses Olafare, Oba Ogunwusi said: “I am so happy to have the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State here as part of this empowerment initiative.”

The monarch said: “Lagos is part of Yoruba land, we are all one, we are all the same, the history is there, the facts are there and we should actually put these facts out. Why are we fighting?

“This is your root. I said it recently, some of our Yoruba kinsmen with ignorance of our history came out to berate my position on the family ties between Yoruba and Igbo people. We have to say the truth and the truth must set us all free, we are blood brothers. We should be inseparable. Please feel at home in Yorubaland and respect your Yoruba brothers and sisters too. “We still have House of Igbo right in this palace till date. We call it Ile Igbo up till now. Our ancestors are buried and transfigured there. That is where kolanut was first discovered and nurtured. The Igbo are still the biggest consumers and users of kolanut which is only planted in Yorubaland till date. Can the Igbos do without kolanut?

“The ancient Igbo house is one of the most sacred places in the palace till date. One of my brother kings – Aka Arogundabi from Iremo quarters saw the mysteries of house of Igbo(Aka-ri-Igbo). Till date, Akarigbo of Remoland still sees house of Igbo as a common heritage of his forebears.

“He also maintained that he is a reincarnated spirit of his ancestors, asking Olugbo of Ugbo in Ondo State, Oba Fredrick Akinrutan Obateru to visit the Ile Oodua in Ile-Ife for proofs and evidences on the Igbo/Yoruba ties and also various tribes of Igbo ancestory in Ife.

“We have a lot of discoveries that the Igbo and Yoruba people once lived together as one family and this will be revealed to the public. We should look at things that connect us together, not those that separate us.

“I am a reincarnated spirit of our ancestors; my name is Enitan which means a child of stories and mysteries. I had come to this world before, that’s why I am Babatunde also and I am back again to establish the truth and nothing but the truth and the truth will set us all free.

“Let us all reconcile our differences and look at things that connect us rather than things that divide us”, Ooni added. In his remarks, the President of Ohanaeze in Lagos State assured Ooni Ogunwusi that the Igbo people hold him in high esteem and will always appreciate his efforts in unifying all the races in Nigeria to peacefully coexist as one inseparable family, calling him an uncommon bridge builder who is well loved and respected across Africa. Igbo, original owners of Ile-Ife —Ohanaeze However, reacting to the statement from Ooni’s palace yesterday, National Deputy Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu said Igbo people were the original occupants and owners of Ile-Ife before the arrival of the Yoruba.

The reaction by Ohanaeze read: “Odudunwa (Last born), later called Oduduwa was an Igbo Prince who occupied Ile-Ife, but the Yoruba saw him as a god because he was very powerful and had magical powers. “The Yorubas learnt and spoke Igbo language then and that is the reason for the similarity between Igbo and Yoruba language.”

we taught you people commerce. QED.

Dayum. You guys got mad issues. For real. So what now, you want a medal for 'teaching' Yoruba people commerce (on the strength of Ooni's words)? If by commerce you mean trading or buying and selling, look you can keep the title because unlike you lots, my life does not revolve around buying and selling/trading. Some of us aim higher in life. undecided I personally prefer software engineering and I am very successful at it. And the money I make from that is what traders depend on to make sales.

Everybody cannot be a trader, so if you lots choose that as your area of specialization, fine, but it seems you are expecting Yoruba people to follow suit en masse like your people, but like I said, some of us have more ambition in life that's way beyond that. You can remain champions at buying and selling (and thump your chest about it if that gives your life meaning) while the rest of us pursue and excel at loftier and more rewarding ambitions. undecided

Damn. Slow your roll dude. Why must you always sound so bitter and angry? I hope you're not as miserable as you let on here in real life, for your own good. If anyone's on a rant spree it's you dude. But hey, it's a free world, and so you're free to believe whatever tickles your fancy if it makes you sleep better at night. undecided

But seriously, if you and your ilk so badly desire to become a part of Yoruba history, there are more noble ways to go about it than trying to buy into a lie that involves mutilating/denying the history your forebears handed down to you. Just saying. undecided

There is nothing like rubbishing historical authenticity. We don't have historical links with you guys we only taught you people commerce

I presume you are igbo, right? Don't you find it shameful as a proud igboman that a Yoruba monarch is the one now trying to rewrite your forefathers' history? Are Igbo historians so daft and incompetent that they couldn't unearth this 'history' until this particular Ooni is 'revealing' it? Didn't your forebears pass down your aboriginal history to you that you are now depending on the Ooni to tell you your history Like seriously.

I was really disappointed to hear the Ooni's attempt to twist history for whatever motives he may have. Olugbo is right to set him straight because the Ooni has been saying a lot nonsense lately. I am also surprised that igbos themselves are not saying anything about Ooni's attempt to rubbish their historical authenticity. Or do Igbos need Ooni/Yorubas to tell them their own aboriginal history?

Culture / Without Ifa’s Existence, There Wouldn’t Have Been Google, Says Ooni Of Ife by WisdomFlakes: 11:25pm On Apr 10, 2019
https://thenationonlineng.net/without-ifas-existence-there-wouldnt-have-been-google-says-ooni-of-ife/

By Agency Reporter April 10, 2019

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, on Wednesday said that the Google originated from the ‘Ifa’ also known as the oracle.

The traditional leader said that without ‘Ifa’, Google would not have been created.

Ogunwusi said this during the press tour of the tourists sites within the ancient city ahead of the Tourism Innovation and Development Innovation Conference (TIDA) slated for April 24.

The theme of the forthcoming conference is:” Impact of Sustainable Tourism Development and Marketing of Tourism Destinations on Host Communities”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that ‘ Odu Ifa’ refers to the verses of the literary corpus that are usually consulted by people who believe in its efficacy before embarking on any project or activity.

It is also a West African religion and system of divination

Ogunwusi said that ‘Ifa’ as a form divination was all about sourcing for information and knowledge through traditional consultation.

The traditional ruler said that Google could be regarded as the modern way of sourcing for past information and what was likely to happen in the future too.

He said that ‘Ifa’ originated several thousands of years ago and is seen as the voice of the almighty God referred to as ” Orisa Oke” which is supreme to other lesser gods.

” Without ‘Ifa’, there could never have been the google, so the google is the modern-day version of ‘Ifa’ .

” ‘Ifa’ is all about information, getting knowledge from the Almighty God.

“Whenever you search the google for information or knowledge, you are consulting ‘Ifa’; and without ‘Ifa’, there would not have been the google.”

He said that ‘Ifa’ was still relevant in contemporary time t saying that was why people were still consulting the oracle for information and solutions to their problems.

Ogunwusi explained that if the modern day youths and the educated wanted to know the date of any important event, they would search for it from Google.

‘That is part of the functions that Ifa’ does for its believers and followers; that is the truth but it may sound strange, ” he said.

The Ooni who is the custodian of the Yoruba culture and tradition called on Nigerians to embrace traditional worships peculiar to their communities.

He said that would not stop them from practising other modern religions. (NAN)
