Politics / Why Are Most Peter Obi Online Supporters So Intolerant Of Others' Choices? by WisdomFlakes: 9:32am On Jun 01, 2022
I have been observing a disturbing pattern of bullying, intimidation, and tyranny from a large number of Peter Obi's online supporters. I call it disturbing because if they can be doing this to people that don't share their views and positions now, what happens when/if PO becomes president? Will they morph into 'Gestapo' or 'thought police' harassing the opposition?

Ad hominems are the first and last resort of the clueless. My fault was in treating you as if you were someone with an IQ above 70, rather than the pathetic creature of hate and frustration you've revealed yourself to be.

Don't worry, I'll never be that generous to your likes again - you keep on with your fact-free slandering of Tinubu as a "drug dealer", as if you were privy to information beyond the reach of the American DEA, the London Metropolitan Police and Interpol. If it helps you and other embittered souls of your ilk to sleep at night, good for you, but you aren't fooling anyone about your real agenda, which is to blacken Tinubu's name beyond repair, as if he were any worse than thieves like Atiku, Jonathan and Peter Obi with whom you have no problems.

I think that guy knows your argument and points are sound, logical, and true, but he doesn't care because he's attacking from a political angle. People like that don't care for facts, because the basis of their argument is political. So they'll not hesitate to bandy about obvious lies to score political points, in the hopes that if they repeat those lies often enough, people might just come to accept them as true.

This is not surprising. Ipob recruited tens of thousands of jobless and desperate able-bodied men as foot soldiers. These guys were expecting to get paid somehow for driving the group's agenda. I can imagine they aren't getting paid to put their lives on the line for ipob ideology.

The only natural thing they'll do under such circumstances would be to start engaging in shoplifting and armed-robbery activities, mounting road-blocks, and terrorising the local population for monetary gains. They're only human. And they've come to understand the power of the gun.

Politics / Re: This Is Why I Don't Argue About Nigeria's Breakup by WisdomFlakes: 1:33pm On Nov 17, 2021
Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria. And even after they've split the country into smaller parts, the problems would still persist because it'll be the same mindset that would be carried into the new countries. The greed, avarice, selfishness that Nigerians of today are known for would persist in the new countries that succeed presentday Nigeria. If subsidy is removed today, fuel would become unaffordable due to the greed of a few, for the the exact same reason why gas is so expensive in a country that has so much gas reserves and exports gas. It's the same reason why Benin Republic which Nigeria supplies gas and electricity enjoys better and more stable electricity than the Nigeria that supplies it.

Peter obi already spoke of this.

The shares are not his.
He invested it on behalf of the State.
He is a rabid capitalist. He saw an opportunity and he invested for his state.

The revenues goes to the state.

And Obiano has not come out to refute it even though they are now enemies.

Indeed. You are no different from those you criticise. You will always find reasons to defend your thief while pointing accusing fingers at others. Just get used to the fact not everyone can be bamboozled by your false hype.

You made valid points but why must we depend on an intellectual who would probably intellectually sell us out......we Yoruba's are too book oriented, will an intellectual save you when herdsmen or bandits come and attack your villages, one of our intellectual who is a professor of law and a SAN is currently serving as vice/assistant to a school cert holder, what has this intellectualism gotten us as yoruba's when majority of our graduates are unemployed and without jobs yet bandits, militants and terrorists are being given armnesty and special treatment....I hope this intellectualism won't kill some of us.

So are you suggesting that touts and rabble-rousers should be the drivers of the agitation for an independent Yoruba nation? Why can't every section of yoruba society be equal stakeholders in this? Una never ready. I am tired of talking abeg. Maybe you guys should go and clone Nnamdi Kanu and then copy and paste his template. I'm done here.

Exactly.
I am in support of Oduduwa, but Majority carry the vote.
Its not a must I impose my knowledge or agitation on everyone, No Yoruba man is an island of knowledge and One person cannot be the sole final decision maker for all Yoruba's.

Even in the Olden days.
There are checks and balances in the palace.
The King doesn't have the final authority on some matters except if it has been widely consulted and agreed upon by the Chiefs, Ogbonnis etc.

Even the Balogun cannot go to war without consultations and cannot go to war alone without approvals.

In All I'm in support for whatever is best for my People.
Everyone cannot think the same way, reason why we go for the one that will benefit us.

Thinking one way reasoning is bad for us.

Waa gbayi. Me sef I want Oduduwa Republic. But it must be by consensus and buy-in of the overwhelming majority. Those that don't yet agree with it should not be called names like 'slaves' or other epithets, but rather reasoned with, because if dem plenty enough, they can end up becoming spoilers and scatter the whole objective. Believe it or not. I can't claim to be more yoruba than them just because they don't yet see things from my vantage point. I also think the agitation needs more intellectuals that can sell and make it more attractive to more Yorubas.

Yorubas are very educated, intelligent, and dynamic people. You can't just expect to appeal to them via emotions alone. Some may fall for that, but many, if not most, are very rational, and would therefore ask thought-provoking and valid questions, because the project is meant to be about our collective future and therefore can't and should not be left in the hands of an incompetent lot.

It should not just be about being free from Fulani herdsmen and their atrocities. We need to start hearing more about how the new country would be structured, have debates about economic models, etc. We can't just say we will leave all that planning till when we get independence. The planning has to start NOW because those that fail to plan, plan to fail. South Sudan is a typical example. They spent so much time fighting for independence, only to turn against themselves after getting it because they just weren't prepared for the task and challenges of nation building. The best and brightest of the Yoruba race need to be persuaded and coopted into the project/agitation, so that we don't export Nigeria's problems into the new country.

Oga, what are you saying The politicians that are selling you to fulanis do they consult or dialogue with you. How many of your senators or governors have taken any real action concerning what is going on in yorubaland Can a yoruba man try what the fulani criminals are doing in the north Do you want to be slave to anyone forever? Tinubu doesn't care if you or any member of your family is next victim of fulani atrocity yet he wants your vote because he is yoruba.

Majority of nigerians foolishly submit their freedom or destiny to very few people and will never question their action or inactions - but they will hope things will change. Now your parents have told you Nigeria will be better, their parents told them same thing - you are about to tell your children same thing who is fooling who?? Look at happenings in the north, look at Pantanmi and Gumi are those the kind of people you want your children to share the country with? Are you not seeing all the injustice around you in your so called useless Nigeria.

Do I agree with everything he is doing or stand for, ofcourse not and for the fact that he is or once a political thug, that do not make me his fan. But I base my judgement on message and not the messenger. I could relate with his message to a very large extent. Now tell us what your problem is with his message instead of looking at his personality.

I am yet to see any constructive criticism of his message except some fools that don't know what a good country should look like. Is this a country to you The future of the country has been stolen yet you see nothing wrong with that but everything wrong with a man that started what the useless supposed learned are supposed to start.

You guys still don't get it. Any and every yoruba man is entitled not to even want to be part of Oduduwa Republic without getting threatened or intimidated by its proponents. That is the point some of you don't get. You are turning this into a 'us vs. them' thing, even amongst Yorubas, when in fact ALL yorubas are supposed to be treated as equal stakeholders in the agitation. And this will end up working against the whole agitation until you all accept that you don't have a monopoly of knowledge.

There are Yorubas in Benin Republic and Togo, and they are ok with where they are, even though some Yorubas here may feel they will be better off in one single country with other yorubas. But in the real world, we all can never think alike, that's the essence of freedom, democracy and independent thought.

The politicians you are vilifying for being bad, corrupt, and whatnot, they also once spoke like you are doing right now, condemning others before getting to the position themselves. And whether you believe it or not, in Oduduwa Republic there will still be corrupt politicians, there would also be opposition parties that will oppose the ruling party in power because it is human nature to disagree on positions and in principle, and no one deserves to be blackmailed for that.

Some clans may even later feel marginalized and decide they would be better off on their own, even after getting Oduduwa Republic. Yes, it can happen. Why? Again, because it is human nature. That desire for separation is what led to the creation of several states in every region in Nigeria today.

Or what if the Yorubas in Lagos decide to opt out of the Republic? Or if in a referendum some yoruba clans (or Muslims) decide not to be a part of the new country? Or you think that's farfetched? That can certainly happen if the hardline promoters continue acting like they alone know what's best for everyone else without taking other opinions into consideration.

Bottomline is, some of you guys should quit thinking your position is the only valid one. You can't force all Yorubas to think the same way through blackmail and threats, no matter how valid you may feel your position is. Kole ever work.

That's why its impossible for one person to be leading or trying to lead the whole Yoruba or trying to command a large fellow of Yoruba's without consultations.

Exactly. Know that and know peace. Or else we will end up fighting another civil war amongst ourselves before any Oduduwa Republic will see the light of day.
The Kiriji civil war that was fought between yoruba clans lasted for 16-years for the same reason. You can't just come from nowhere with a 'hero complex' and expect 40-million+ people to submit their brains to you because you feel you are fighting for them, when they are not zombies. No single person can command such loyalty by fiat, besides, such blind loyalty ends up breeding dictatorships. You have to consult, dialogue, compromise, and persuade others to accept your position, not blackmail them with propaganda, lies, and threats, just because they see things differently from you.

Sunday Ighoho and his supporters are fond of resorting to blackmailing other Yoruba personalities that don't support their methods with the accusation of being sponsored by politicians. They must understand that they cannot browbeat or intimidate other Yorubas into supporting them by force and through blackmail.

Tinubu is NOT the Asiwaju of Yorubaland, he's Asiwaju of Lagos. There's a difference. A very big one at that. And he has never claimed to be leader of the entire Yorubas. Politically no single yoruba person can command the loyalty of all Yorubas because we operate a multiparty system therefore opposition will always exist. Don't expect yoruba PDP supporters to ever like Tinubu. Even Awolowo had opposition within yorubaland.
