Politics › Re: How Nigerians Reacted To $1.9b Kano-niger Rail Line Project Approved By Buhari by Wiseandtrue(f): 5:32pm On Sep 24, 2020
Shehuyinka:
“Tell me – where is the prudence & profit in this project? Is there serious commerce between Nigeria & Niger,” asked one Nigerian who identified as Lugard Tare-Out.

He further argued that the railway line is a waste of $1.9 billion, saying that there are more basic needs that could be addressed with the fund.

Another Nigerian, Olushola Olufolabi argued that a rail line connecting Nigeria and the Benin Republic or Ghana would have been a better decision rather than the Niger Republic.

“Won’t a rail line to link Cotonou, Benin be better? It should even get to Ghana. Why take a loan to pave the way leading to an unproductive destination, what’s our economic activities with Niger that will pay back the debt? Does the National Assembly vet and approve these loans at all,” said Olufolabi.

Politics › Re: Angry South Africans Hand Over List Of Demands To Nigeria's SA Ambassador (PICS) by Wiseandtrue(f): 3:38pm On Sep 23, 2020
YEBOmadiba:
Groups of protesters have demanded more stringent immigration laws while marching through South Africa's capital city of Pretoria directing their anger at African immigrants.

Under the banner of #PutSouthAfricansFirst, small groups of people marched from Church Square to the Nigerian Embassy.

They said government has failed to put South Africans first and have called for the mass deportation of illegal immigrants as well as the revoking of grants and other state benefits.

Various organisations including South Africa First and “Only One SA” have handed over a memorandum of demands at the Nigerian Embassy following a march through the Pretoria CBD.

Action for change’s Nandi Gachwari said their demands were clear.

“We demand an end to human trafficking in Pretoria and, broadly, South Africa; the deportation of all illegal immigrants; the exposure of corruption in flawed Home Affairs processes that grant citizenship to undeserving foreign nationals.”

High Commissioner Kabiru Bala said while he accepted the memorandum, it was unfair that only Nigerians should be blamed for South Africa’s social and economic ills.

The organisations vowed to return to the streets if their demands were not met.

The United States remains concerned with reports of some violence that did emerge during the election, and by reports of vote-buying and intimidation of both voters and civil society domestic observers. We will continue to encourage all stakeholders, including INEC, political parties, and the security services, to improve the electoral process in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.

The result represents the people's choice not that which is imposed!

Yes they did well, most especially the Federal Government for not using FEDERAL MIGHT to INTIMIDATE voters

Nigerians will NEVER forget the role the USA played, we didn't experience any death which is the most important

We however wish that the serenity we observed during Edo State elections continue

So that politicians will sit up and serve the people better or be kicked out!!!

The lawmakers including Caroline Cox, David Alton, Jin Shannon and Helena Kennedy, said thousands of civilians in the country had been killed and elements of the Nigerian Government may be complicit in the violence.

Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria's President.
Others, who signed the letter, are Lord Williams, Lord Carey, Dr Christopher Cocksworth, Phillip Mounstephen, Lord Stoddart, Lord Anderson, Lord Cormack.

Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, Ayo Adedoin, Ewelina Ochab, Mervyn Thomas, Dr Khataza Gondwe, Nevile Kyrte-Smith, Dr John Eibiner and Ann Buwalda.

They sought intervention on the killings in Nigeria, highlighting the helplessness of the current administration.

“We write therefore, to ask whether you are able to respond on behalf of The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group. We should be very willing to meet in person (or perhaps more practically, online via Zoom) to discuss how we might proceed.”

Given the initial press release by the their national publicity sec-Yekini Nabena that the Edo election was marked by electoral irregularities only for them to do this volte face. This still proves that the APC have no iota of integrity, lack cohesion as a band of chronic liars, scammers and anti-democratic people.

The eventual turnout of the Edo election really dazed these wicked people that have set the worst standard for anything but good governance. So that initial denial stage of grief was too much for them to handle.

“This blatant threat to all citizens from a master demolisher and crime king was spoken at the coronation of a king who many say was illegitimately installed by Tinubu and not legally a part of the royal family.
