Congratulations... hope you find the response you need.

lumley:
Hello house,

Our application has been approved and CoPR is valid until October. However, I don’t think we can land before then. We are expecting a baby in July. With the current restrictions, the baby might need to be born before we land. Also we are not ready to move permanently because I’m still studying so I’m not sure we can soft land. IRCC advised that if family composition changes then our application will be reevaluated. Does anyone have a similar experience? And does anyone have an idea what the reevaluation be based on?

Thanks

Watsapp speaking group idea supported.

MNTS0:
Salut!

I started my classes with a French learning center last week. It's scheduled for 6 days per week.

And it's been fun so far!

I'm planning on writing TEF the last week of June, so I'm trying to improve as fast as possible. Here are some things that I find helpful;

1. Reading.

2. Listening to French podcasts on Spotify.

3. Watching Netflix movies with French audio and English subtitle or vice-versa.

4. Listening to the test practice recordings

5. Learning with the Duolingo app.

6. Switching my phone's language to French.

I hope I'll be prepared by then and everything turns out well.

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in exchanging contacts?

We could keep in touch and speak the language with each other to help us improve faster. Or maybe a Whatsapp group or something.

Thoughts?

I've been looking for this. Thank your for being so resourceful. God bless you.

Mmamaroon:

It's the CLB or your exact numerical score you need to be worried about...NOT B1, B2 or C1.

C1 spans CLB 8 and CLB 9. CLB 8 = 3 CRS points and CLB 9 = 6 CRS points.

6 CRS points is the max that IRCC will give..... so if you have 4 CLB 9s you are good. CLB nomenclature goes all the way to CLB 12...in other words you don't need a CLB 12 to get MAX CRS points from TEF. CLB 9 = 6 points each, 24 points from the exams plus 50 bonus taking you to 74!

Very educated post✅

I relocated to Canada through the express entry mode 2 years ago, one major advice I give everyone is follow all the steps laid down by Canada and you’ll be fine. When they say come with proof of fund of 6million naira for a family of 3, please try to get at least more than half of that money when landing, it’ll make life easier for you. I’ll be honest with my story by sharing breakdown of life and how we survived.

To conclude, don’t let anyone discourage you from relocating, but do so legally, forget pride and take on minimum wage jobs while you look for professional jobs in your field. Don’t just sit around to wait for it to come, it took some people more than a year to get one, get busy, get certified and you’ll land one. Good thing is to be eligible for express entry, you must have relevant qualifications and experience so it’s easier to search for jobs with your certificate when you land.

By the way, a lot of people live comfortably on minimum wage jobs and never transitioned to professional jobs.

Beautiful.
Madcow:
We oftentimes have amnesia as it relates to Gods faithfulness and how he has helped even with things that seem so little and insignificant. I write this to hopefully encourage whoever reads to firstly trust God that although you may not be where exactly you want to be, trust God and he would comfort you and help you.
The novelty of being close to my wife and kids soon faded tongue. I tried to pray but nothing was coming out. Later that day, I came across an old friend’s testimony on his wife’s Instagram page #healo’clock. He was speaking about faith in the fire and how he turned to worshiped whenever he found himself in a dark place. There and then I began to worship, and the Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance Gods promises to me that He had prepared and is bringing me into a beautiful future.
final interview with the CEO. Initially, I was sad, but I refuse to have amnesia. I remember Gods promises and how He has helped and blessed me in the past and I have hope in the truth that He will bless and help me again. My story has encouraged me and I hope it will encourage someone else that although this journey not appear to be easy nonetheless God is omnipresent and he is still in the background working things out for your good.
I cannot wait to come back to tell you that God has done it!

There is nothing on WES' website requiring DOB on transcript. In fact it might actually be a plus for you if DOB is omitted due to the DOB mismatches many have experienced and the length they've gone to have it corrected.

Spot-on.

Goodnigga:
YES, but live online. Good question, I had same concern then because most online tutors use pre-recorded videos and/or just give you a foreign textbook to teach from and ask you
It's actually just like a normal school though online. They use their personally written textbook(my favorite) which made French so much very easy to understand. Also, they will give you a software to install that will make both you and the tutor work together in real time. E.g. if you are doing a class work/assignment the tutor can mark it or correct it on the same screen page that you are working and at the same time you are writing.
They are tech savvy sha and they will help you program everything that it will appear as if you are in a physical class.

Good luck!

Thank you for sharing. We've almost similar start story. I'm also doing the night class due to my busy schedule, most times I do my assignments while working to meet up with the submission deadline and I've some of my class while on night duty at work. It's not an easy path but it's possible with dedication. It's now 300 words for every writing assignment.. grin

Goodnigga:

MY TEF STORY

Sorry guys @atoleybaba, @senoraaquila, @Wishlist & others for late reply, I have been busy with work schedules. I officially started learning French around December 2019 and wrote in August 2020. I am advanced in age and I am a busy man that wants to immigrate to Mapleland. I only have a B.Sc and no Masters, moreover even with masters, it is still not enough. So I opted for French. At that time, it was 30 points bonus for bilingual speakers.
I started from scratch with Tobidam, the school permits working-class people since they have a flexible time. I initially doubted, if an online school will work, but due to the testimonies I have heard about them, I joined. What I liked was that they have a principle of Speak, Write, Read and Listen from the first day. So, from the first day I was being forced to write , speak etc on every class day.
From day 1, I have many class works and a must-do assignments of at least 200 words for writing, also speaking assignments which have to be submitted the next class. Some other days, there are Listening practices on the scheme of work.
Since I must speak with my tutor every day, I practice speaking every 15 minute daily apart from class speaking. For every level from A1- B2, we must write DELF exam in each level and must pass at least 50% covering all the modules to be able to move to the next level. It was very tasking, cos I attended a night class, so I must always do my assignments while in the office to submit the following day as they don’t joke with assignments.
So I started getting used to TEF pattern from the beginning e.g. we were told to speak for 15 min from A1, speak with connectors etc. The grooming is kinda tough but, omo it is worth it and I enjoyed it. I have never worked hard like that in my life!
We used their personal text notes which is very easy to understand though Schaum Outline French was freely given to us. But I prefer their daily class notes.
At B2.2, TEF prep started officially, their TEF prep lasted around 2 months. To summarize I wrote 60 letters, 70 Fait Divers , all 22 CO (listening) , 102 CE text( reading part). I always got tired cramming those long texts as they are too long, but I was given a short cut for memorizing them. . I do daily listening practice with the audios( A1-B2) given us which are very helpful, it helped my hearing ability. I also have language exchange friends online from Speaky that I MUST practice daily with.
Also, I was told to check the last three months TEF exams and check what came out the most and focus on those ones first. Luckily, they all came out. Guys, knowing French is not a guarantee to passing TEF, if not for the TEF main strategies and tips I don’t know what will happen. Before the exam, we did several live simulated mock exams to ascertain my level till I was getting C1 in most of my exams. After much consistency I was told to book for the exam. I learnt for 9 months, though there are others who finished in 6 or 7 months. It depends on your rate of assimilation, dedication and the package you book for. I finally got C1,C1,C1,B2. In addition, the October 50 new CRS points bonus increase , now butter my bread with butter! That was what gave finally gave me the magic!

I also did a quick research for you guys, B.sc gives 30 pts, 2 or more certs gives 33pts, Masters gives 40 pts, PHD gives 55pts while TEF gives between 62-74 points( with IELTS).

Finally guys, TEF is doable, but I must tell you it is not for a lazy or indecisive mind. Let me stop here. For those who want to ask about the packages, other info about the school etc, I am not that current with the lastest info since I have left Tobidam since last year, but you can check their website.
I gotta go now guys, I am hungry.

Second attempt L7.5 R8 W7.5 S8.5
Third attempt L7 R9 W7 S8.5
Fourth attempt L8.5 R6 W6 S8
Fifth attempt L8 R8.5 W7.5 S8.5
I’m elated and over the moon.
First attempt I wasn’t prepared at all at all Due to work, I just went to write hoping for the best.
Second attempt I was very prepared but got lost during listening Cbt
Third attempt again got lost during listening cbt
Fourth attempt I took paper and made a silly mistake , I didn’t indent or paragraph my work in writing , I didn’t finish my reading test , tbvh the reading test was very tough this time.
Fifth attempt I put all my mistakes together and forged ahead. I used IELTS Liz mainly , IELTS fast track for listening tips. Then this IELTS master free module that idp gives I used it alongside Liz for writing and that thing was very very helpful. Watched all Liz videos .
Tips for speaking I got it from Don Oliver on the idp IELTS instagram page and that was it.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk. I’m still excited and over the moon.

Preach it. Fast and fierce teachings at Tobidam. Had my DELF A1 exam within one month of starting. Checked my A1 competence with another school to be sure I was at par on all levels and it checked out. Gruelling but great practices happening at Tobidam

Anyways, I've been on the look out for your TEF story. Care to share.

Goodnigga:
I was also in your shoes last year as age was not on my side, but French saved me because they added 50pts extra. So, if you max out IELTS or just 8777, you can have at least 62pts with French. That was how I was able to get my ITA last year.If you care to know, I learnt my French from Tobidam, their site is www.tobidam.com, they are very efficient and they even have free lessons on their site that you can start with.

For express entry, degrees only add to points..
Yes, people without MSc are granted PR....

Is a Masters degree needed? Or does it just add to the points?

Hi. Yes I have. But I went with another private tutor. After much considerations, I decided on a faster module. It's a time & effort demanding French class though, you've got to be mentally prepared for the tasks & the tutor who is twice as fierce.

Yes, it is an online private classe. Very gruelling but very educative, productive & fast which is what I wanted anyway.

Whatever institute you decide on, make up your mind to start early. Passed time can't be gotten back.

Congratulations Lexy123

Lexy123:
Late PPR announcement but really better late than never. Very long post alert!!!

ITA 496 - July 2020 (Cant remember the date but it was the first all program draw after covid drama)
AOR - August 8 2020
Biometric - Sept 2oish dont really remember
PPR - Nov 18
Vfs returned passport - Jan 22 2021 (run from vfs lagos abeg)

Background

Started japa plans since 2018 but never took it seriously. I glanced through nairaland that period and decided to start with IQAS. Did that and the evaluation came in Feb of 2019. But by then I was more interested in traveling to UK. I sat down with uk visiting thread (I can give Justwise a big kiss here). It was so self explanatory and easy to do I was like haaaaa.. Bear in mind I already had 2 UK refusals before I stumbled on the thread. But I get coconut head I said the 3rd time would be the charm. I sat down with that nairaland thread and did the visa by myself. Visa came out, I travelled and came back.

Over confidence was worrying me and I decided to apply for Canada visit also immediately I got the UK visa. Canada bounced me and said family ties in canada bla bla bla. I said no wahala, I would come back from UK and reapply. Then almighty covid happened. Lockdown ensued.

My sis called me one day during lockdown and said oya go and continue your canada pr. That's how I registered for MOD in May. Wrote it after lockdown and had 9, 9, 7.5, 8.5. Used ielts liz, a bit of Jay, cambridge 1-13 and youtube videos on listening. Dived into the pool and got ITA.

Got reference letter from my present and previous place of employment to make up 3 years. Sent bi-weekly whatsapp msgs to my previous boss to ensure I was fresh in his mind incase ircc called. Before village ppl would want to take control. Important to note that I was paid cash here and I worked here for over 2 years. I just stated it in the reference letter that I was paid cash das all. I didn't do cash certificate. It felt like I would be trying too hard if I added that. At the end of the day it's whatever makes you sleep at night.

I had 3 separate pair of eyes look at my application. I looked at it from the point of view of the VO also.

Saved up majority of my proof of funds and got the rest from my dearest mama.

After biometrics, the plan was to request for gcms every month (wetin consine agbero with overload). I would disturb then until they answer me. Lo and behold, first gcms in October showed everything passed, security not yet started. I started dancing. I knew it was about to go down. I sha have not committed any crime.

Nov 18 golden mail arrived and vfs lagos started their drama.

This thread is a treasure trove and for the newbies I beg of you read page 1. Everything you need is there. Almost somebody has passed through whatever questions you have and you will definitely find your answers there. I learnt by force by fire when I sent DM and nobody will respond. I kuku respected myself and found my way to page 1.

Justwise is the real MVP. Also all the selfless people who answer question here, I doff my cap to you. Did the whole process from begining to end without any agent help

See y'all in cannyland soon!!!
