Normal legality or strict adherence to due process Odinkalu cites is null and void over matters of serious threats to national security. El Rufai can legally be detained for a long time as it is the right of our security leaders to do so.

obonujoker:My well-meaning advice is for you to spend more time educating yourself than cursing those not guilty of your claims against them. If you are too lazy to read then watch CNN, BBC news, Sky news or similar for at least an hour a day because no God will support such wicked cursing of others wrongly. Rather the curse will return to you. |
jamafa:Bros, I tire for some people. Imagine saying the ignorant drivel below with his full chest : And if the price of petrol goes up because of that, isn't Nigeria supposed to be making more money to cushion the effect on the citizens?Which adult should not understand that removal of fuel subsidy and full deregulation of the oil and gas downstream sector of Nigeria means Government hads are fully off any anything to do with the downstream sector? "Cushion the effect" how exactly? Obidients are just something else. Yet they believe they know it all. |
Brendaniel:He is right though. Your not bright at all. If humble, ambitious and truly seeking to better yourself then you'd learn from others instead of arguing ignorantly and senselessly. I don't know how anyone with averagely okay intellect can believe conflict in the middle East, a major hub of petrol and crude supply to the world, is going to spare Nigeria. Our oil and gas downstream sector is fully deregulated meaning Nigerians with the means can import PMS into Nigeria and Dangote too can sell PMS at prices he desires as a private business with the caveat that full deregulation frees the government of the punitive and financially draining burden of fuel subsidy and will beneficially spark healthy competition that will thrive PMS price down. Now, with conflict in the middle East, our importers pay more to bring us PMS and they must therefore charge you more. Dangote too must charge more because he imports crude, as he cannot get the quantity he needs from FG, so he will be affected by global hike in price of crude. He must also sell PMS , for purely business and profit reasons, around the price his competitors do. They cannot sell at 1050 Naira and you expect Dangote.to sell at 730 Naira. To then be lashing out at Government and Tinubu, as many have done on this thread, is sad for knowledgeable folks to witness because it is worrying you don't even know why fuel cost has gone up which means you are probably unfairly and ignorantly blaming the government for a myriad of things not Tinubu or the APC's fault as virtually Obidients do. |
occfx:Whatever. Na you sabi. |
IBB007:She is a strikingly beautiful woman. Intelligent too. |
festacman:You are wrong. Your talk applies to men who are not self-assured and confident. Confident, intelligent and self-assured men, especially if successful, appreciate beautiful women but are not starstruck by them as you suggest. |
Amotolongbo:Dont mind these guys. Some of them relate sex to everything and everyone as if they have sex on their mind 24/7 and have never seen a naked woman before. Disgusting. |
seunmsg:Same things I was thinking. Some Nigerians are so mean-spirited and allergic to positivity. |
occfx:You think you're being cute but intelligent and knowledgeable people will simply find your ignorance amusing and a shame for you. |
EPIJOE:Does the Nigerian Government have the volume of PMS, to sell, as Dangote refinery and importers do? How can we sell at "moderate price" when the downstream sector is fully deregulated meaning the PMS supply sector ia now largely controlled by independent importers and Dangote refinery? Dangote, the only operator of a commercial and larger scale refinery we have in Nigeria, must sell at peices around what importers of PMS are selling for or face financial losses? Do you know what a fully deregulated oil and gas downstream sector entails? Start from there bro. |
chopnaira:Don't mind them. A fully deregulated downstream sector also mean importers of PMS into Nigeria will charge more. The gap in knowledge of so many Nigerian adults is really worrying. |
yinkus6750:Thank you for taking time to explains matters eloquently. Sometimes I wonder if we are all educated adults on Nairaland capable of reading, doing basic research and keeping up with international events that affects Nigeria. I have been watching CNN, Aljazeera and Sky news since morning and global hike in oil price, caused by the USA/Isreal V Iran conflict, which has seriously affected the Middle East oil sector, is a a major issue in most nations of the world currently. Americans are complaining bitgerly but many still see it as a worthwhile sacrifice to support Trump destroy the "enemy' of rhe USA. Yet Nigerians are shouting Tinubu when he has nada to do with this. THe simple fact that our downstream sector is fully deregulated means importers of PMS into Nigeria will charge Nigeria more because they are paying more to import PMS due to the ongoing conflict. Dangote too must sell higher to be competitive. Overall, a situation we have no hand in has created tbis problem.yet some are screaming "Tinubu" ignorantly. I really despair for Nigeria because her human resources tasked with finding solutions to make her great seem hideously inadequate. |
Our armed forces personnel need greatly improved salary and welfare packages that will adequately cater for their real cost of living. If this happens many will have greater focus, integrity and motivation to perform commendably while our armed forces will find it much easier to attract recruits. Not Rocket science. |
Nigeria has launched an ambitious $750 million renewable electrification programme aimed at expanding electricity access through solar mini-grids and off-grid power systems, a move officials say could unlock over $1.1 billion in private investment and reshape the country’s energy landscape.https://africa.businessinsider.com/local/markets/us-uk-china-investors-on-alert-as-nigeria-rolls-out-dollar750-million-mini-grid-solar/mt4s49t

anonimi:You hav to worry about thr North because they lag behind the South horribly and that is a problem for Nigeria. Yes Southern education is inadequate and efforts must be made to make it world class if possible. Yet my overarching point is that the abject poor uptake of education in the North has directly contributed to the Northerners of Nigeria having some of the worst human develolment index known to man. |
Guestmale:You dont get my point at all. I have no problem with religion. When you love religion dogmatically and radically, especially religion imported to your terrain and not native to your forefathers, then war, terrorism, anarchy , chaos, human suffering and misery are the results. Worship your God privately but never let it creep into your relationship with your fellow men, job, obligations, nation, other nations and decision-making that affects others. I have no interest in any back and forth discussion over religion with you so drop the Christian sermon. I am mainly interested in progressive considerations that advances/evolves man, his society and the world at large. This is why you will find me in the politics and never religious section of Nairaland. Only a dishonest person or religious bigot will deny Christianity and Islam, for different reasons, have become very major problems of Nigeria.

SixSeven:I agree with you broadly because I feel good education can begin from the home. What I will add is that successive Government appear not to understand how education, done right, can truly drive the accelerated development of Nigeria far quicker and more wfficiently than anything else. Nigeria, put simply, need the most high quality and robust education, at every level up to University, anyone on Earth can recieve. Yes it will be expensive but the returns for Nigeria will be massive. Proof of my point is how Nigerians become world-class, highly lauded technocrats and some of the best solutions-provision specialists on Earth when they are exposed to the education system in the West. How is it then possible Nigerian leaders do not see let only appreciate the correlation between the finest education available with nations attaining developed status? If I were President I would simply tear up our current education system to replace it with a well-funded and no-expenses-spared model because of the immeasurable returns I expect Nigeria to gain from that. |
anonimi:The bolded I agree with and will always be passionate about because I am exposed enough to note how well-developed human resources, gained through provision of the finest and most robust education, is the biggest difference between a nation creating solutions for problem of society, to then become great, and a nation failing horrendously because she simply lacks human resources with ability to provide solutions. Yes quality education is key and I have said that always and continously as a beneficiary of it. That said, what do you propose Nigeria does with the North that prioritises religious Studies above formal education with the subset of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathemic) that delivers the greatest solutions and development foe society? |
chukwutee:Indeed. When you see a group of people who have never ever praise the good a goverment is doing, when there are many, and only focus on demarketing said government, with even lies and propagandist deception, then you are looking at a people who do not mean well for a nation and only wish to "hijack government" any way posssible. |
SisterAnn:Please take your annoying pettiness elsewhere. |
SixSeven:Totally agree with you. No other race on Earth as brainwashed as the black race with the African subset being the worst. We are virtually the only race who can be given a brand new identity and belief system we have zero indigenous, geographical or historical connection with yet become the most vocal advocates of those second-hand doctrines those who think they are superior to us believe it is their right to foist on us. |
mynd1:Bro, open your eyes. Forgot this shalaye while the North is the most poverty-stricken and backwards region of Nigeria per human development index. What you should be more worried about is how it is you Northerners who are willing to fight, protest and kill over a religion not native to your land and ancestry that, factually, has not translated to better lives and socio-economic fortunes for Northerners. |
DomPerignon:That guy you responded to is an example of the problem of Nigeria. You will notice that those viewing Trump a messiah of Nigeria would be those who, from time immemorial, have never understood dogmatic and radicalised hatred of their fellow Nigerians is not the way forward. Islam and Christianity, as the two major religions of the world, have serious issues. To defend radical champion of either, as messiahs, is for the losers and those who are foolish IMO. Look at China moving at the speed of life after rejecting over-religious devotion, which forces a man to rely on divine intervention rather than look at himself as capable of delivering solutions he need. The leader of China is even openly atheist and has led a period of exemplary success for his nation and her merited emergence as a world power that has stormed to the top finding human-driven solutions for their own problems whereas we still host Moslem and Christian leaders who tell us to pray for solutions we know human capacity can deliver. Is it a wonder Kagame has turned Rwanda into one of the prides of Africa with how he recognises the need to tame the influence of religious extremism. Kagame has instructed Pastors in his nation to have theology degrees so they are not exploitatively destructive as majority of Nigeria's 'miracle performing' and 'prosperity preaching' Nigerian pastors are due to how they have warped conventions of the Christian faith into 'pastopreneural' scams. Religion, pertaining to the wellbeing and progress of a nation, can be a destructive net negative if it is not managed well. Especially important for a very poor and third world nation like Nigeria that we begin to look at Countries that have developed spectacularly because they recognise secularity is a necessity for accelerated growth and development of ambitious nations. I don't understand this whole thing of Nigerians standing immovably behind Islam and Christianity that are two imported religions our forefathers had nought to do with. Those supporting Trump believe he can conquer and tame everyone and everything to do with Islam, that has billions of adherents, how? Ditto those who think Islamic Jihad can take over Nigeria with at least many million Christians. |
Madmohamed1:If you were not such a petty-minded hater, you would understand it is up to the rest of us to insist the North shape up by refusing to indulge their retrogressive antics. Nothing negative the North has become, or has done, the rest of Nigeria have not allowed. Instead of pointing fingers of blame and trying to demonize the North as "evil" the rest of us would be living peacefully and progressively today, with the North contributing positively to that, had we made the few evil and oppressive element oppressing ordinary Northerners to understand Nigeria belongs to all of us and they must conform to our demands over what is best for our entire nation. What the rest of us have done is to indulge the retrogressive policies Northern leaders embrace to assist them subjugate and impoverish the North not understanding we would eventually become victims of our own irresponsibility with terrorism, banditry etal threatening to sink Nigeria today. For example, why has the South never fought the almajiri scourge and menace troubling Nigeria with the insistence Islam must not be used as an excuse for two illiterates, with no capacity for family-sustaining employment to have 15 kids they cannot cater for and must send across West Africa to beg from as early as age two? Why have we never insisted, with one voice, the North embrace family planning and proactive education which will show the people of the region that breeding many children they cannot care for is unfair to other regions of Nigeria and a danger to society as many become street children who eventually transition into serious crimes like terrorism, kidnapping, banditry etal? The North does not need hate. She needs tough love and ultimatums from the rest of Nigeria that we are currently too disunited and cowardly to give her. |
Madmohamed1:What the people of the North need, especially young Northerners, so they are educated and trained properly from an early age, is liberated minds that will allow them to understand they must reject being used for religious extremism and hatred that achieves nothing for humanity (which needs to become more secular, STEM-focus and solutions-driven) in the long run. You are ignorant making Trump, a Christian fundamentalist and bigot in my opinion, the saviour of the world from what you believe to be a need to wipe out "evil Islam". I don't involve myself in what religion is doing globally because I focus more on our nation and what needs to be done to make Nigeria better. This is why you won't find me hosting an opinion on the current USA/Israel V Iran war. To that end, and as someone focused on his nation and people, I believe change begins with countering the indoctrination of young minds as the Hausa man reveals the need to do below. As long as the North is conjoined with Nigeria, it is self-destructive seeing Northerners as enemies we need Trump, a repellent and autocratic bigot, to wipe out. Much easier, effective and productive for the rest of us to stand our ground to insist the decent Northern leaders do the right things so the region becomes an asset to Nigeria through measures like peventing their desperate and oppressive leaders (Atiku, El Rufai, Tambuwal, Sule Lamido, Bala Mohammed, Malami etal) to grab leadership of Nigeria at any cost. whereas those same leaders have never sought to lead charitably at home in the North so their region stops being the huge deficit and existentialist menace to Nigeria it is today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn8m6JvitI0?si=wyAjwJt0gflgtxiF |
budaatum:Sincerest apologies. I did not understand you.🙏🏾 |
budaatum:Read properly. I did not say Khan is no longer Mayor. I said he "was voted" Mayor of London. Everything else you said really isn't clear because, whatever point you are trying to make, my point is that Londoners from all walks of life, who are the main stakeholders ok the affairs of the City, made the choice of voting Khan their mayor. Nigerians, with their intrusive and annoying ITK disposition, should learn to shut their judgemental mouth over what does not concern them |
Dotherightthing:So Trump is now your messiah and every opinion he has, or action he takes, is God-ordained? Why should a Moslem not be home Secretary of the UK? Was a Moslem, Sadiq Khan, not voted to be London Mayor also? What is your business's who the UK people and system choose to lead them? Please leave the choices and affairs of others nations to them alone instead of judging them ignorantly as many prejudiced Nigerians, never respectful of boundaries, are fond of doing. |
nairalanda1:Bro, no disrespect but you are flat wrong with all your talk by ten country miles. Nigeria, per her security challenges, need to work smarter and not harder. A concept State or regional policing will facilitate. I can't adress all your argument because that is not needed as it is sufficient to simply make the central point that Nigeria needs more intelligence-based policing and far greater DNA database profiing of crime, which State/regional policing will allow, than guns, drones and all else you mention. Look at the response of chatGPT below, citing London Met Police I know well having lived in the City majority of my life, to understand you simply need to consult successful world-class security expert who will confirm what I show below as behind the success of many developed nation regarding crime-fighting. Read the conclusion below and understand it well.
