ANSWERS TO RAMADAN DAY 5 (FIVE) QUIZ 1) Who amongst the mother of the Believers had the longest hand? (Zaynab bint Jahsh) Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 24, Hadith 24 Narrated '`Aisha: Some of the wives of the Prophet (pbuh) asked him, "Who amongst us will be the first to follow you (i.e. die after you)?" He said, "Whoever has the longest hand." So they started measuring their hands with a stick and Sauda's hand turned out to be the longest. (When Zainab bint Jahsh died first of all in the caliphate of `Umar), we came to know that the long hand was a symbol of practicing charity, so she was the first to follow the Prophet (pbuh) and she used to love to practice charity. (Sauda died later in the caliphate of Muawiya). 2) A Surah of the Quran that's also known as "The preventer" was also revealed in the Torah (before it was distorted) which Surah is this? Surah Al-Mulk Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud reported; "While a person is in his grave, The first place to start with punishment is his feet yet his feet prevent this punishment from happening by saying: "You cannot punish me in anyway as this man always recited Sura Al-Mulk". Thus, it (the punishment) approaches him from his chest (stomach) side yet his chest prevents the punishments from happening by saying: "You cannot harm or punish me as this man always recited Sura Al-Mulk." Then the punishment of the grave turns to his head but his head prevents this punishment from happening and says: "You cannot punish me because this man always recited Sura Al-Mulk." This Sura is indeed called the preventer that prevents the occurrence of punishment. It is stated in Torah that whoever recites Surah Al Mulk at night, he would be doing very good acts. (Hadith scholar, Al Munthiri declares this narration to be saheeh (authentic) or hasan (good) in his book Al Targheeb Wal Tarheeb, Volume 2, p. 320. Sheikh Albani also affirms the authenticity of this narration in Saheeh Al Targheeb, hadith no. 1475) 3) Musafi Ibn Safwan is to Jawayriyah bint al-Harith, and Abu Halal hind ibn Zararah is to? Khadeejah bint Khuwayleed, Abu Halal was her first husband. 4)Which are the mosques that are mentioned in the Qur’an 5 mosques: a)Masjid-ul-Haram. b)Masjid-ul-Zirar. c)Masjid-ul-Nabawi. d)Masjid-ul-Aqsa. e)Masjid Quba. 5)The name of which angels are mentioned in the Qur’an? 4 angels: a)Jibraeel Ameen.Alaihis salaam) b)Meekaeel.(Alaihis salaam) c)Haroot.(Alaihis salaam) d)Maroot.(Alaihis salaam). |

ANSWERS TO RAMADAN DAY 4 QUIZ 1) The Prophets are brothers. All believers are brothers to one another(Q49:10). Uthman ibn Affan (may Allaah be pleased with him) is not a brother of the Prophet. TRUE or FALSE. Explain. Muslim narrated in his Saheeh (367) from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to the graveyard and said: “Peace be upon you, O habitation of believing people. We will join you soon, if Allaah wills. Would that we had seen our brothers.” They said, “Are we not your brothers, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said: “You are my companions. Our brothers are those who have not yet come.” They said: “How will you recognize those among your ummah who have not yet come, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said: “If a man has a horse with a white blaze and white feet among horses that are all black, don’t you think that he will recognize his horse?” They said: “Of course, O Messenger of Allaah.” He said: “They will come with white foreheads and white hands and feet because of wudoo’. I will have reached the Cistern ahead of them and men will be driven away from my Cistern as stray camels are driven away. (I will say), ‘Let them come,’ and it will said to me, ‘They changed after you were gone,’ so I will say, ‘Away with them!’” The understanding of the Salaf , given the above,is that those Muslims who existed at the time of the Prophet, who believed in him and died as such are to the referred to as his COMPANIONS and not his brothers. So, the likes of Abubakr as Siddeeq, Umar ibn Al khattab, Uthman bin Affan, Ali bin Abi Talib, Aisha Bint Abubakr, Ummu Salama and host of other Sahabah, men and women(may Allaah have mercy on them all) , are to be referred to as his COMPANIONS. The status of COMPANIONSHIP is restricted to the earliest believers and this is in honour of them. This does not negate the broad meaning of the verse in Suratul Al-Hujurat ("Verily, the believers are brethrens...) as there are hosts of other verses whose general meaning does not apply to the Prophet (peace be on him). An example is the verse restricting maximum no of wives to four ( Q 4:3), just like Tahajud is made compulsory on him alone (Q 73:2) and he is exempted from taking Zakat of (Q9:60) and his wives cannot be married and just like it is prohibited that his beloved daughter Fatima becomes a co-wife(according to some scholars). In Surah Al Ahzab, Allaah specifically mentioned that the wives of the Prophet are not the same like other women( Q 33:32) and as such should be referred to as "Mothers of the believers" (Q33:6). This is also restricted to them only. Uthman bin Affan( may Allaah be pleased with him) is a COMPANION of the Prophet( peace be upon him)and not his brother. 2) The Prophet (peace be on him) was given 6 things no other prophet was given. What are those? Two Ahadith captures this. One mentioned 5 things while the second hadith added an extra. Hadith 1: Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "I have been given five things which were not given to any amongst the Prophets before me. These are: 1. Allah made me victorious by awe (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey. 2. The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum. Therefore my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due. 3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me (and was not made so for anyone else). 4. Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation exclusively but I have been sent to all mankind. 5. I have been given the right of intercession (on the Day of Resurrection.) (Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 8, Number 429) Hadith 2: Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) said: "I have been given superiority over the other Prophets in six respects: 1.(JAWAMI AL KALIM) (amazing ability to speak)-I have been given words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; 2)I have been helped by terror (in the hearts of enemies), 3) spoils have been made lawful to me, 4) the earth has been made for me clean and a place of worship, 5) I have been sent to all mankind and the line of Prophets is closed with me. [Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith #1062] 3) Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid, the Prophet's beloved wife has some virtues no other woman on Earth posseses. What are those? Once the Blessed Messenger peace be upon him) mentioned Khadeejah (may Allaah be pleased with her) before Aisha( may Allaah be pleased with her), the latter responded: “She was not but a such and such of an old lady, and Allah replaced her with a better one for you.”He replied: “Indeed Allah did not grant me better than her; *she accepted me when people rejected me, *she believed in me when people doubted me, *she shared her wealth with me when people deprived me, *and Allah granted me children only through her.” Aisha(may Allaah be pleased with her) says, after this incident, “I learnt to keep quiet, whenever Khadeejah’s name was mentioned by Muhammad.” (Sahih Muslim) It is then no small wonder that one day, Jibril (alayhi salaam) came to the Prophet (saw) and said: “O Allah’s Messenger! This is Khadeejah, coming to you with a dish having meat soup (or some food or drink). When she reaches you, greet her on behalf of her Lord (Allah) and on my behalf, and give her the glad tidings of having a palace made of Qasab in Paradise, wherein there will be neither any noise nor any toil, (fatigue, trouble, etc.).” [Al-Bukhari 3610] 4) What were those worships and prayers that were ordered by Allah to the community of Bani Israeel and which were continued by the Muslim Ummah also? Salaat and Zakaat.(Al-Baqarah:43) 5a) In Qur’an mankind is divided into two groups.Which are those two groups? Believers and disbelievers. 5b) Who is the man about whom, Allah has said in the Qur’an that his body is kept as an admonishing example for future generations to come? Fir’aun.(Pharaoh) |

As salam alaykum warahmotullahi wa baarakatuh Apologies for not posting Ramadan Day 3 questions. Ramadan Day 4 questions will be posted by 5pm tomorrow In Shaa Allah. We are very sorry for any embarrassment and inconvenience caused. |
RAMADAN DAY 2 (TWO) ANSWERS (1) What is the wisdom behind phased revelation of the Quran? What verse (s) of the Quran mentioned this? *To strengthen the heart of the Prophet constantly whenever the need for guidance arose ( See Q 25:32) * To lesses the burden that accompanies revelation on the Prophet since it was always a difficult experience for him. " Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect." Q59:21 * To ensure gradual and systematic implementation of Allaah's Law. Q 17:106 * To make comprehension and preservation (through recitation and mememorization) easier for the believers. Q75:16-19 (2)What distinguishes the Qur'an from other revealed books? (Notes: Most posts were comparing the Quran with today's Bible and other handwritten scriptures. However, what was intended(and the proper way to approach such questions like this) was to look out for the fundamental differences between the Quran and other revealed books like Torah, Injeel, Suhuf and other scripts) The differences between the Quran and other revealed scriptures are as follows: *The Qur'an wasn't revealed at once. Other books were. See Q 25:32 * All other scriptures were revealed entirely on Earth while some verses of the Qur'an were revealed on Earth and some in the seven heavens (e.g the verses of the Throne) * The Qur'an, unlike others, will forever be immuned and preserved against falsification. " Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)." Q15:9 (3) Lexically, Qura'an means "that which is often recited", what is full definition of the Quran from the view of the Shariah? The Qur'an can be defined as follows: The SPEECH OF ALLAH, sent down upon the last PROPHET MUHAMMAD, through the ANGEL JIBRIL, in ITS PRECISE WORDINGS AND MEANING, transmitted to us MATAWATIR (through numerous chains), both verbally and in writing. (4) What is "Naskh" , what is " Mansokh"? Give an example each. * The word Naskh = 'the abrogating', while Mansukh= 'the abrogated'. Technically, these terms refer to certain parts of the Qur'anic revelation, which have been 'abrogated' by others. Allaah says: " None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause it to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: knowest thou that Allaah has power over all things?' ( Q2: 106) The abrogated passage is the one called 'Mansukh' while the abrogating one is called 'Naskh'. Mansokh 2:240 Naskh 2: 234. Mansokh 8:65 Naskh 8: 62. Mansokh 30:50 Naskh 33: 52. Mansokh 58: 12 Naskh 58: 13. (5))"Wahy" (inspiration) is used in the Quran to capture different form of guidance from Allaah to His creatures. Mention a verse each to capture these? Allaah uses "Wahy": *Wahy as guidance through intuition in humans- "So we sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses . . .' (Q28: 7) *Wahy as natural instinct in creatures: "And thy Lord taught the bee to build its cells in hills, on trees and in (man's) habitations"(Q16: 68) *Wahy as Guidance from evil: "Likewise did we make for every messenger an enemy evil ones among men and jinns, inspiring each other with flowery discourses by way of deception ...' (Q6: 112) *Wahy as guidance from Allaah: "Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message) ..."(Q8: 12) UPDATE OF PARTICIPANTS' GRADES Laykorn : 40 + N/A Ummfareedah : 52 + N/A Dejt4u : 65 + 85 DrNiyi4u : 55 + 65 Lanrexlan : 50 + 95 Ankybaby2001: N/A + 40 Baba11 : X + N/A Mammangaddafi : X + 70 supremsuccess : X + N/A Mbamally : X + N/A Note: Time of response is also taken into consideration, refer to guidelines. May Allah make it easy for us to do a lot of good deeds and abstain from evil. Ameen |
The holy month of Ramadan unites all Muslims in fasting, feasting, worship and prayer. It is a time for contemplation, spirituality and brotherhood. It is also known and recognised as the month of the Qur'an Allah (SW) says: “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).” (Al-Baqarah 2:185) Have you ever wondered why it is difficult to concentrate in your prayer? Or why your faith throughout the year is not on a high like it is during Ramadan or through Hajj? Maybe it is because we usually jump straight from a phone conversation into Takbir or because we just go with the flow in Ramadan and are influenced by the environment around us and not our own ‘real’ feelings. A lot of us usually live life and have our faith dependent on an upcoming major event i.e. “I’m going to start reading a page of Quran a day as soon as Ramadan starts; I’m going to start praying Qiyam every night when I come back from hajj; or, I’m going to stop smoking when my child is born.” And because of this way of thinking we usually end up with an anticlimax; we don’t end up giving up smoking, we don’t end up praying Qiyam and we start reading Quran but then get back to our normal old self after a few days or weeks. This is because these ‘statements’ or ‘feelings’ are based on impulse and not a real thought out plan. We usually don’t prepare for Ramadan or hajj or have a plan for our faith to stay at the increase; we just go with the flow and expect it all to happen. Well, it doesn’t! Wouldn’t you love to enter the month of Ramadan on a real high and have the effects of this beautiful month be a permanent impact on your life thereafter? How can this be done? Below are the 8 steps for a Legacy of a Ramadan. Step 1 – Create a Ramadan Count Down Counting down for Ramadan (whether it is done mentally or by keeping physical signs around the home or office) will help create hype and buzz in your mind and amongst the people around you. When you and others are counting down to the same event, it becomes part of regular conversation and excitement spreads. Step 2 – Seek knowledge about Ramadan This will help you ensure you will do things correctly and perfectly for Ramadan, it will create a hype as there are many motivational aspects and events in the month to look forward to and finally it is a reward reaper. The more you know about Ramadan the more you can apply, hence multiplying your rewards. Step 3 – Make a Ramadan plan Be it reading the entire Quran, ensuring you pray taraweeh every night or inviting families over for iftaar; make a list of things you would like to achieve in the month and then how you plan on achieving these goals. It is important that goals are realistic and it is better that your life doesn’t need to entirely take a different road in this month (i.e. take the month off work or change work hours etc.) so that you may continue to do these deeds after Ramadan. Knowing what you want to achieve in the month will help you stay focused. Ensure you plan your day every night before you sleep when Ramadan starts (try to continue this even after Ramadan). Step 4 – Know your life Be aware if Ramadan affects anything that is happening in the month or shortly after. Do you have exams during Ramadan? Or is there a major family wedding after Ramadan by a short time? Moving house? If so, plan for these events from now. Study now so that you are prepared for the exams before the month starts. Be packed and ready to go before Ramadan or plan that you do it after so that it doesn’t take time away from your worship. The last thing you want to do is spend Ramadan at the shopping centres. Buy any Eid presents and prepare for any wedding before the month starts. Step 5 – Prepare spiritually We all know that Ramadan is about Fasting, Praying, Reading Quran and giving in charity. Start these worships early; don’t expect to just click into it as soon as the first day of Ramadan starts. Start doing extra prayers from now, start revising and regularly reading Quran now, get used to being generous and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) and fast during Sha’baan. Step 6 – Prepare your mind Fasting is to refrain from more than just what we consume in our mouth. Start working on your patience; be extra vigilant with your conversations: ensure you are not backbiting, slandering or talking about useless things. Step 7 – Say ‘good riddance’ to bad habits Know what bad habits you have and stop them from now, don’t wait until Ramadan begins. If you sleep late, start sleeping early, if you are a Facebook junky start cutting down, have a coffee craze, slow it down etc. It might sound much easier said then done, but once you’ve committed yourself, purified your intentions – make sincere dua for guidance. Insh’Allah, these bad habits will be easier done with than you ever expected. Step 8 – Plan your life around your worship For instance; instead of working through your prayer or setting up meeting etc., at prayer times, plan that you have a break at prayer time. Don’t take your phone with you to the place you pray and forget the world as you stand between the hands of the almighty Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He). http://productivemuslim.com/8-simple-steps-to-help-you-prepare-for-ramadan/#ixzz3cpOC5NAJ

As Salam Alaykum Warahmotullahi Wa barakaatuh We are less than 13 days away from this year Ramadan, I believe planning and preparation for this year RAMADAN IFTAR should start earnest in order to create more awareness and for people to incorporate it in their schedule for the Holy Month as early as possible. BACKGROUND As those that have been around for some time already know, Nairaland Muslim Ummah organize Iftaar (Joint Breaking of Fast) on chosen day(s) during Ramadan. The first edition started in 2009, hosted by JARUS at Mama Cass Restaurant, Ajose Adeogun, VI, Lagos. We had two editions in 2010, Mainland Edition at Sweet Sensation, Allen Avenue, Ikeja and the Island Edition hosted by Majoroller at Mama Cass, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. The 2011 Edition also came up in two parts: Island at Mama Cass, Ajose Adeogun VI and Mainland @ Sweet Sensation, Allen Avenue, Ikeja – both bankrolled by Majoroller. The 2012 Edition (Season 4) was also in two places; one at Jarus residence in Ajah while the second was hosted by Majoroller at Surulere. The 2013 Edition (Season 5) was hosted by Jarus @ his residence in Ajah. The 2014 Edition (Season 6) was co-hosted by hrmkz, thirty and Dynamo1 and was held at Araromi Central Mosque, Gbagada, Lagos. The last year edition was assumed to be the biggest IFTAAR we would ever held with over 50 Nairalanders in attendance. SEASON 7: 2015 This year (2015) Ramadan is around the corner and Insha Allah, we are having Season 7 of Nairalnders' Ramadan Iftar. Bearing in mind that it is better held on a weekend, we have these possible dates: Saturday 27th June Sunday 28th June Saturday 4th July Sunday 5th July Saturday 11th July Sunday 12th July HOST/SPONSORSHIP Individual, Group or part sponsorship will be welcomed. Contribution is also welcomed. Any member may as well decide to host us in his house or any convenience venue. From past experience, budget will be around 50 - 60k depending on attendance. Assembling will start by 3pm at the chosen venue and lasts till after break of fast and moghrib, or we wait till 8pm for Ishai. Programmes lined up for the event include: opening remarks by the moderator(s); faces behind the IDs(introduction); general discussions; short lecture; breaking of fast with fruits; main menu etc. Its going to be fun, Insha Allah. People that attended past editions will tell you. Muslim Nairalanders in other parts of Nigeria and outside can also plan to organize their own at their locations on this thread. Page9 has shown his intention to host us this year. We are also expecting to hear from others that may be interested in hosting, co-hosting, contributing or sponsoring one of the IFTAR for this year. The earlier we show our interest in hosting/sponsoring the better for everybody to schedule their programme for the wonderful event. MODS: Sissie and Mukina2 should please help in making sure that this thread hit the front page as early as possible and also, assist in ensuring that this thread make it to the front page every Friday as well, in order to create more awareness for this programme, so that it wouldn’t be like last year when some Nairaland Muslims said they were not aware ontime. Lets encourage more Muslims to join this thread and also participate actively too. Let the planning, deliberation and preparation start now! May Almighty Allah accept it has an act of Ibadah and spare our lives to observe the forthcoming Ramadan and beyond in good health (Ameen). |
usqoh:Wa alaykum salam warahmotullahi wa barakaathu I believe there are still many Muslimah that are virgin; so you can always get your choice of Muslimah. I saw this below on a nairaland thread:Most of these are simply fallacy... Even though I support getting marry to a virgin any day, but that doesn't mean those who are not virgin are totally bad. The society or University made some people commit some atrocities, which they might have later repented on. I can tell you that a sister who has made mistake in the past either out of ignorance or peer pressure and has taken up a better moral/behaviour are also very good to marry. Most of these sisters might even be more pious than the so-called virgin who had not engaged in intimacy but are full of very worst behaviour. Putting more emphasis on virgin might get you disappointed later on rather than praying to Almighty Allah to grant you, your own rightful partner. There are some sisters who pretended to be a virgin only to be discovered on the night of Nikkah that they are not (will you divorce her?) and there are some as well who are truly virgin but which their character might make life to be a hell for you. In your search for that special person, remember the four qualities Prophet Muhammad (saw) implored us to seek from a woman: Religion, Beauty, Background and wealth.. I believe these are the qualities you should rather be looking for (especially religion and character) rather than basing yourself on a virgin. Been a virgin doesn't equate been religious or having a good character. The most important thing is for you to pray to Almighty Allah to grant you a spouse who will be coolness in your eye and that both of you will strive hard towards Aljannah. Almighty Allah will grant everyone of us the best of partner that we will both strive toward Jannah and continue to receive the favour and blessings of Almighty Allah (Ameen). |

1stimpression:Wa alaykum salam warahmotullahi wa barakaatuhu Firstly, it is haram to visit fortune teller or soothe sayer in Islam. We should all learn to do Istikhara by ourselves and trust Almighty Allah decision on that particular thing. Secondly, it is not compulsory for somebody to dream after doing Istikhara. Istikhara is just a means of asking for Almighty Allah guidance and sometimes the result might be that "the heart will just inclined towards that particular thing after Istikhara or heart might deviate from it. Thirdly, I can't really say his/her dream is the result of his/her Istikhara or not because it might be that, what the sooth sayer/fortune teller told him/her is still in his mind, which he/she is likely to dream about as well. My advice for the person is to do the Istikhara again and hope for the best guidance from Almighty Allah without putting his/her mind on what have been said to him by the fortune teller in the past. Istikhara can be done more than one time, just to be sure of Almighty Allah guidance towards a particular decision. Almighty Allah knows best. |
