IslamThe Importance Of Sadaqah In Islam by Wizeboy(op): 9:49am On Nov 06, 2015
As salam alaykum wa rahmotullah wa baarakatuh

The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures` needs, All-Knower.
Surah Al-Baqara, Qur'an 2:261

The Holy Quran lucidly teaches that it is the moral responsibility of the capable Muslims to help the less capable and less privileged in the society. There are many examples in the Quran which underline the responsibilities towards a vast range of people. The following verse beautifully depicts the multiple social responsibilities of a person:

“…And do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess. For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious” (Surat An-Nisa, Qur'an 4:36).

Based on many verses of the Quran that talked extensively about helping the less privileged around us, we can all agree that one of the central principles of Islam is helping others. While most of us perceive Islam as a faith which is majorly to observe 5 daily prayers and maybe fast alone rather than positive contributions to society; the Qur’an and especially the hadith highlight how helping another human being is a fundamental aspect of Islam. Muslims’ primary goal is to worship God, but this is done not only through rituals like prayer and fasting but also through assisting the humanity and creating a conducive environment.

Before the Prophet Muhammad started to receive revelation, he would spend a great deal of time meditating in a cave outside of Mecca. One of the issues that he reflected on was how some members of his society–like women, orphans, and those without tribal protection–were treated. It is for this reason that there are many hadith that emphasize the importance of helping others.

One hadith in particular that underscores this message comes from a collection called An-Nawawi:

Whosoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Judgment. Whosoever alleviates [the lot of] a needy person, Allah will alleviate [his lot] in this world and the next. Whosoever shields a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the next. Allah will aid a slave [of His] so long as the slave aids his brother. Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather together in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, but tranquility and peace descends upon them, mercy envelopes them, the angels surround them, and Allah makes mention of them amongst those who are with Him. And whosoever is slowed down by his actions will not be hastened forward by his lineage.
[Sahih Muslim (4/2074) No. 2699, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/195) No. 2945, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/152) No. 225, Musnad Ahmad (2/252) No. 7421]

It is clear from this that helping others is connected to a believer’s worship of Almighty Allah. In other words, the hadith connects responsibility to people to other acts of worship like reading Qur’an with other Muslims and seeking knowledge. Moreover, there is a clear reward for a person who aids another, both in this world and in the next. This is important for Muslims, because they believe that each person will face God on the Day of Judgment and be asked about all their deeds. It is clear from the above hadith that helping others is not optional but a religious duty.

Messages like this one are often not highlighted. However, this idea is articulated in numerous hadith and Qur’anic verses. Moreover, the Prophet Muhammad is considered by Muslims to be the highest example and he would very often help others, even if it meant that he had to sacrifice something. So by his example also, Islam is a faith that makes helping others and society a core principle.

While many of us tend to chase after special offers and reduced prices in this dunya (world), we often overlook the fact that Allah  has offered us an even better deal that will benefit us both in this dunya and the akhira.

The following points show how helping the less privileged in the society can increase our rewards in this life and in preparing for the next.

1. Sadaqah is a guaranteed investment

Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply it many times?’ [Surah Al-baqara, Qur'an 2:245]

The above verse teaches us that by generously giving to the poor and needy, Allah will increase our wealth and blessings in this life, wipe out sin, increase reward and provide shade on the Day of Judgment and more insha’Allah!

What more could we ask for? Money back, profit, good health, barakah (blessings) in our wealth, shade on the Day of Judgement, sadaqah is definitely the best investment for our dunya and akhira.

Forget special offers, reduced prices and buy one get one free deals – a true Muslim knows the ultimate best way to spend his/her wealth – in the way of Allah.

2. Sadaqah is a means of gaining barakah in your wealth.

It may be hard for us to give sadaqah when we are barely able to make ends meet. However, it is reported in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet  said:

Charity does not decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people). [Sahih Muslim]

and

There is not a day in which the obedient slaves rise in the morning except that two angels descend, and one of them says: ‘O Allaah! Compensate the one who spends.’ The other angel says: ‘O Allaah! Destroy the wealth of the one who is niggardly. [Sahih Muslim]

If we truly believe and apply these hadiths, we will come to learn that we can never lose from giving sadaqah, but instead we gain immensely from it.

However, gaining from sadaqah may not always be in a physical form. When we give sadaqah, it doesn’t necessarily mean that our salaries will increase or we will miraculously stumble upon a goldmine. It may mean that Allah will put barakah into our wealth and possessions instead. By regularly giving sadaqah, we will quickly notice that although we are still spending the same amount of money on the same expenses, we will still have plenty left insha’Allah.

Giving sadaqah can also put barakah in our time and personal matters. We may find that after giving sadaqah, Allah will ease all our affairs.

Sadaqah is a special offer from Allah that stands as long as we’re alive. Make sadaqah an habit throughout your life before it’s too late!

You have the opportunity to start reaping huge benefits of sadaqah from Almighty Allah with the ongoing Back to School Project/IDP, the little you contribute towards this programme may be what will be your source of Barakah and gateway to Aljanah.

Let's try to assist our brothers and sisters who were affected by the Boko Haram menace and put smile on their face as a fellow Muslims: https://www.nairaland.com/2583157/nairaland-idps-back-school-project

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous; Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people – and Allah loves the doers of good” [Suratul Imran; Qur'an 3:133-134]

IslamRe: The Concepts Of Udhiyah (Animal Sacrifice For Eidul-hadhaa Celebration) by Wizeboy(op): 4:17pm On Sep 18, 2015
AbuuUthaymeen:
Nice and useful post akhee. May Allah increase u in beneficial knowledge. Pls bro, can u benefit me with hadith or athar that talks about the condition of having a certain amount of silver or its equivalent before being eligible to perform the udhiyah.
Though there's no hadith on the condition of having certain amount of silver or its equivalent before being eligible to perform Udhiyah/Qurbani. Scholars are of the opinion that it's mandatory for anybody who possessed such amount and above while it is Sunnah (not obligatory) for those who has below the stated amount.

Some Muslim scholars state that Udhiyah/Qurbani  is an obligation (Wajib) on Muslims who are sane, mature, and possesses an amount of 612.36 grams of Silver or equivalent wealth, which is in excess of one's basic needs, however the majority of them classify it as a Sunnah.

Udhiyah/Qurbani' is 'wajib' (compulsory) according to Imam Abu Hanifah (and sunnat - e - muakkadah according to other Imams) upon every 'mukeem' (domiciled) and who possesses 613.35 grams of silver or its equivalent in money, personal ornaments, stock in trade or any other form of wealth which is surplus to his/her basic needs. Each adult member of a family who possesses that much wealth must perform his/her own 'Qurbani' separately.

Hazrat Ibn Umar may Allah be pleased with him reports that the Messenger of Allah peace and blessings be upon him lived in Madinah Munawarah for ten years and performed 'Qurbani' every year. (Tirmizi)

Despite the fact that the Prophet (SAW) was not obliged to sacrifice as he never possessed the required amount of wealth, he still did so as can be conceived from the above Hadith.

The most important thing is that, it is stipulated that the one who offers it should be independent of means, in that the price of the udhiyah is surplus to his needs and the needs of those on whom he spends. If a Muslim has a salary that comes to him every month, and this salary is sufficient for him and he has surplus money which which he can afford the price of the udhiyah, then in his case it is prescribed for him to offer the udhiyah.

Allahu Alam... Allah knows best!

IslamThe Concepts Of Udhiyah (Animal Sacrifice For Eidul-hadhaa Celebration) by Wizeboy(op): 1:15pm On Sep 17, 2015
As salam alaykum wa rahmotullahi wa baarakatuh

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

As the Eidul-hadhaa approaches, one of the important (obligatory) aspect of the celebration is the sacrifice of animal for whoever has the capacity. As a muslim, it is very important to know the does and don'ts of the sacrifice, which is also a worship, in order to be accepted and be rewarded, by Almighty Allah.

WHAT IS UDHIYAH? [b]

Udhiyah refers to the animal that is sacrificed as an act of worship to Almighty Allah during the period from after the Eid prayer on the day of Nahr (Eidul-hadhaa, 10th day of Dhul-hijjah) until the last of the days of Tashreeq.
Allah says, "Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only)". (Surah Kawthar 108:2).

Qurbani (Udhiya) is a practice commanded by Allah and it is a prescribed duty for each sane, capable and mature Muslim.

[b]WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF UDHIYAH?

This act of Udhiyah is to commemorate the unparalleled sacrifice offered by Prophet Ibrahim. When he, in pursuance to a command of Allah communicated to him in a dream, prepared himself to slaughter his beloved son Ismail. But Allah, after testing his submission, sent down a ram and saved his son from the logical fate of slaughter. It is from that time onwards that the sacrifice of an animal became an obligatory duty to be performed by every well to do Muslim [As-Saffat 37: 102-111].

WHAT IS THE VIRTUE OF UDHIYAH?

Zaid bn Arqam reports that the companions of Rasulullah (sallalahu alaehi wasallam) asked him:
"Ya Rasulullah, what is this sacrifice?", He said; " it is the way of your father Ibrahim ", They asked; " what (reward) is for us therein? ", He replied; " There is a reward for every hair", They asked; "for then will, O Messenger of Allah?", He replied;" There is one reward for every strand of wook. [Ahmad, Ibn Majah].

WHO IS REQUIRED TO PERFORM UDHIYAH?

Every adult Muslim, male or female, who owns 612.36 grams of silver or its equivalent in money, personal ornaments, stock-in-trade or any other form of wealth which is in excess of one’s basic personal needs, is under an obligation to offer the ritual slaughter (Udhiyah).

Each adult member of a family who owns the above-mentioned amount must carry out his or her own Udhiyah separately. If the husband owns the required amount but his wife does not, then slaughtering will be obligatory on the husband only, and vice-versa. If both of them have the prescribed amount of wealth, then two separate Udhiyahs will need to be performed.

If the adult children live with their parents, Udhiyah is obligatory on each one of them possessing the prescribed amount. The ritual slaughter offered by a husband for himself does not fulfil the obligation of his wife, nor can the Udhiyah offered by a father discharge his son or daughter from their obligation; rather, separate sacrifices will have to be carried out for each individual possessing the required amount. A husband or father, apart from offering his own ritual slaughter, may offer another on behalf of his wife or son, with their permission.

THE TIME OF UDHIYAH

1) Udhiyah is only valid during the three days of Dhu’l-Hijjah, namely the 10th, 11th and 12th, and cannot be performed in any other day of the year.

2) Although Udhiyah is permissible on each of the above three days, the first day (i.e. the 10th of Dhu’l-Hijjah) is the most preferable and desired day.

3) Generally, Udhiyah is not allowed before Eid Salat. If Udhiyah is being done at a place where Eid Salat is not performed, the slaughter should commence after the completion of Eid Salat in the nearby town/city. However, according to the Hanafi School, in small villages where Eid prayer is not to be performed, Udhiya can be offered any time after the break of dawn on the 10th of Dhu’l-Hijjah.

4) Udhiyah can be performed during night time. However, it is preferable to perform it during the daytime.

CONDITIONS FOR THE SLAUGHTERED ANIMAL

1) The animals eligible for Udhiya are goats, sheep, cattle and camels, male or female. No other type of animal is allowed for Udhiya.

2) Castrated animals may be used for Udhiya.

3) Barren animals may be used for Udhiya.

4) Goats and sheep have to be at least one year old. However, a healthy sheep that looks like a one year old may also be used, provided it is at least six months of age.

5) Cattle (cow, ox and buffalo) must be at least two years old.

6) Camels must be at least five years old.

[b] RULINGS ON DEFECTS IN THE UDHIYAH ANIMAL

1) An animal that was born without horns or the horn is broken off from the middle is eligible for Udhiya. However, if the horn is broken off from the root, or the horn has been uprooted, then it will not be eligible for Udhiya.

2) An animal that is totally blind or has lost one-third or more of its eye-sight, or one-third or more of one of its ear is cut, or one-third or more of its tail is cut, is not eligible for Udhiya.

3) An animal which limps/walks on three legs and cannot put the injured (4th) leg onto the ground, or it is able to put the injured leg onto the ground, but is unable to walk on it, is not eligible for Udhiya. However, if it is unable to walk on it, but can still take support from it, then it is eligible for Udhiya, even though it is limping.

4) Animals having no teeth at all are not eligible for Udhiya. If an animal has lost some teeth only, and has most of its teeth, it is eligible for Udhiya. If most of the teeth are lost, it is not eligible for Udhiya.

5) An animal born without ears is not eligible for Udhiya. An animal with very small ears is eligible for Udhiya.

6) Thin and extremely weak animals, unable to walk to the place of slaughter, are not eligible for Udhiya.

7) If an animal sustains an injury whilst being slaughtered, the Udhiya is valid.

cool If an animal is purchased in a healthy and eligible state, and thereafter, an accident occurs which renders the animal unfit for Udhiya, then in such a case, if the purchaser is no longer wealthy (owner of the required amount) it will be permissible to offer the same animal for Udhiya. However, if the purchaser is wealthy, then it is necessary to obtain another animal in place of the injured animal.

9) If an animal purchased for Udhiya gives birth (before being slaughtered), then the newly born animal should also be slaughtered.

SLAUGHTER OF THE UDHIYAH ANIMAL

1) It is recommended (mustahabb) that the owner of the Udhiya animal slaughters it personally, provided he is able to slaughter properly. If the owner is unable to slaughter, it is better to delegate the task to another Muslim who is acquainted with the requirements of a valid Islamic slaughter. If the slaughter has been delegated, it is desirable that the owner of the Udhiya animal is present at the time of slaughter.

2) The Islamic slaughter requires that the throat, the external jugular veins and the wind-pipe of the animal is swiftly and clearly severed with a sharp tool, together with invoking the name of Allah Most High. If only two of the passages and veins are cut, the slaughter will be deemed incorrect. If any three of the four are severed, the slaughter will be valid.

3) It is Mustahabb to face the Qibla while slaughtering.

4) It is preferable to sharpen the knife before slaughter to ease the suffering of the animal.

5) After slaughter, the animal should not be skinned or cut up into pieces before it turns completely cold.

6) It is disliked to slaughter an animal in the presence of another animal, although the slaughter is valid.

7) It is preferable to read the following whilst laying the throat of the animal towards the Qibla:

“For me, I have set my face firmly and truly towards Him, Who created the heavens and the earth. And never shall I give partners to Allah. Verily, my worship and my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah; Lord of the worlds. O Allah this sacrifice is from you and is for you”

Whilst slaughtering the animal read, “Bismillah Allahu Akbar” (In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest).

If the above are not memorized, then make intention of Udhiya and merely recite “Bismillah” and the Udhiya will be valid.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN SHARE THE MEAT OF A COW OR CAMEL?

The majority view is that a cow or camel's meat suffices for seven people because of the report of Jaabir who said: "We sacrificed Al-Hud'hiyah with the Prophet (sallalahu alaehi wasallam), a camel for seven and a cow for seven" [Muslim].

Also, it is not a condition that all those coming together to buy a cow or camel must have the same purpose for the meat. A person's intention can be for Ud'hiyah, another for Aqeeqah while another for waleematun-Nikkah e.t.c.

MEAT AND SKIN OF THE UDHIYAH

It is prescribed for the person who offers the sacrifice to eat some of the meat, to give some as gifts and to give some in charity, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor having a hard time” [al-Hajj 22:28]

“eat thereof, and feed the poor who does not ask (men), and the beggar who asks (men). Thus have We made them subject to you that you may be grateful” [al-Hajj 22:36]

It was narrated from Salamah ibn al-Akwa’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Eat some, give some to others and store some.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari. Giving some to others includes both giving gifts to the rich and giving charity to the poor.

It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Eat some, store some and give some in charity.” Narrated by Muslim.

The scholars (may Allaah have mercy on them) differed concerning the amounts that should be eaten and given as gifts and in charity. The matter is broad in scope but the best way is to eat one-third, give one-third as gifts and give one-third in charity. What one is permitted to eat may also be stored, even for a long time, so long as that will not result in any harm being caused by eating it, except in times of famine, when it is not permitted to store it for more than three days, because of the hadeeth of Salamah ibn al-Akwa’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever among you offers a sacrifice should not have anything of it left in his house after three days.” The following year, they said, “O Messenger of Allaah, should we do what we did last year?” He (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Eat some, give some to others and store some, for last year the people were having a hard time and I wanted you to help (the needy).” Agreed upon.

With regard to the permission to eat and give away the meat of the udhiyah it makes no difference whether the sacrifice is voluntary or obligatory, or whether it is offered on behalf of a living person or a deceased one, or in fulfillment of a will, because the executor of the will takes the place of the person who made it, and the person who made the will would eat, give away and give in charity. And because this is the custom among people, and that which is done customarily is like that which is spoken.

In the case of one who has been delegated to offer the sacrifice, if the person who appointed him has given him permission to eat of it and give some as gifts and in charity, or if that is indicated by analogy or by custom, then he may do that, otherwise he should give it to the person who appointed him, who is then in charge of the distribution of the meat.

It is haraam to sell any part of the udhiyah, whether that is the meat or any other part, including the skin. And the butcher should not be given any part of it in return for his work or part of it, because that is like selling.

But if a person gives the butcher some of it as a gift or as an act of charity, then he may dispose of it however he wishes, by selling it or otherwise, but he should not sell it to the one who gave it to him.

Therefore, it is not haram to store Udhiyah meat once some has been given out to the needy and as a charity.

NO ALTERNATIVE FOR UDHIYAH

Some people think that instead of offering a ritual slaughter (Udhiyah), they can give its amount to the poor as charity. This attitude is totally wrong. In fact, there are different forms of worship obligatory on Muslims. Each one of them has its own importance and none of them can stand for the other. It is not permissible for a Muslim to perform Salat instead of fasting in Ramadhan, nor is it permissible to give some charity instead of observing the obligatory Salat. Similarly, Udhiyah is an independent form of worship and cannot be discharged by spending money in charity.

Almighty Allah will accept all our good deeds and worship as an act of Ibadah and grant us long and healthy life to witness many more of this season on earth and as a MUSLIM (Ameen)

I want to include it that people should be mindful of the items they will donate. They should not include worn-out materials. They should sacrifice some of their fancy ones in order to earn bountiful rewards from Allaah.
Jazaakallahu khayran for your suggestions...

IslamSunnahs Muslims Should Seriously Begin To Follow by Wizeboy(op): 7:43pm On Sep 10, 2015
As salam alaykum wa rahmotullahi wa baarakatuh

Quick question to refresh our minds: who was Prophet Muhammad ? As Muslims, we believe he was the last and final messenger of the Creator to mankind. His life is an example for generations after generations until the end of time on how to live in a pure and humble way, with the worship of Allah the Creator as our purpose and pivotal role.

The word “sunnah” is used to describe the life and teachings of the Prophet . The sunnah is an ultimate guidance for leading a productive, successful life. Sometimes we neglect the sunnah, however, and we find ourselves googling “how to be successful/productive”, while the sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) has provided us with gems on how to do just that. Better yet, the Prophet (SAW) said:

Whoever revives my Sunnah then he has loved me. And whoever loved me, he shall be with me in Paradise.” [Tirmidhi]

Not only for our personal gain but out of love for our beloved Prophet , we should try to live our life by the sunnah as much as possible. We should be active in learning about the life of the final messenger to mankind . While engaging in knowing about the life of a person, your love and respect for him grow. Similarly, when learning about the Prophet , you will find hundreds of stories, attributes and habits that will be beneficial for your life if implemented, In sha Allah.

In this article, we will discuss 12 sunnahs of the Prophet that we must aim to revive, In sha Allah, in hopes of increasing our productivity, and seeking the company of the beloved Prophet in the Hereafter.

1. Sleeping and Waking Up Early

Our sleeping pattern plays a great role in our ability to function effectively during the day. The hours after Fajr are among the most blessed of the day. Starting the day off by praying the morning salah sets you in the right frame of mind to be the best you can be throughout the day. However, in order to rise in the early hours it is imperative to sleep early as your body requires an adequate amount of rest.

Aisha said about the Prophet :

“He used to sleep early at night, and get up in its last part to pray, and then return to his bed.” [Bukhari]

When you have a million things to do, it is easy to fall into a horrible cycle of sleeping late and waking up late. Due to our failure to wake up early, one day extends into the next in order to finish your list of tasks. Break that cycle today! Wake up early and sleep early to be the strong, successful you that you want to be, In sha Allah.

2. Having a Pleasant Smile Always

Ibn Jaz reports: “I have not seen anyone who smiled more than the Messenger of Allah .”[Tirmidhi]

Smiling has been shown to increase the natural antidepressant hormone, serotonin, causing the one who wears a smile to be happier. We underestimate the power of a smile on both ourselves and those around us. This characteristic is highly contagious and plays a massive role in building relationships with those around you. A positive mind and attitude is irreplaceable in the quest to be productive and achieve your goals in life. Smiling is a simple, inexpensive act that helps lift your mood and make you feel more grateful and content since our Prophet was seen frequently doing it. So, let’s follow along this great sunnah. Consciously take note of your usual facial expression: is your normal expression a happy one or do you always appear sad, exhausted, preoccupied or frustrated? It will take a bit of regular effort, but you can cut down on the frowning, smile more often and spread joy and peace around you as the Prophet instructed.

3. Using The Siwak

Abu Hurairah narrated that Allah’s Messenger said:

“If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation, then I would have ordered them to use the siwak for each prayer.” [Tirmidhi]

This hadith indicates the view of the Prophet towards the siwak. Siwak comes from the Salvadora persica tree and has many anti-bacterial qualities, making it a great way to maintain hygiene of the mouth. It can be said, given how often the Prophet  would have liked us to use the siwak, that there is a big emphasis on maintaining oral hygiene. It is narrated that the Prophet would use siwak upon waking. The teeth are delicate and when problems occur can cause tremendous amount of pain, so this sunnah introduces preventative measures against a problem that can have you rolled up in bed for days. Siwak is easily purchasable and relatively cheap, making it an easy sunnah to uphold. It keeps the mouth clean and fresh naturally and effortlessly all the time.

Abdur-Rahman bin Abu ‘Atiq said: “My father told me: ‘I heard ‘Aishah say, (narrating) from the Prophet : “Siwak is a means of purification for the mouth and is pleasing to the Lord.” [Sunan an-Nasa’i]

4. Oiling Hair

I heard Jabir bin Samurah being asked about the grey hairs of the Prophet . He said: ‘If he put oil on his head they could not be seen, but if he did not put oil on his head, they could be seen.'” [An-Nasa’i]

The act of oiling is something many of us do not recognise to be a part of the sunnah. This hadith alludes to the idea of using oil to prevent grey hairs being visible, highlighting that the sunnah of the Prophet encompasses every aspect of life. Oiling hair on a regular basis prevent hair loss and greying, promotes strong and lustrous hair by strengthening hair protein and rejuvenates and relaxes the mind by soothing the brain’s nerves and capillaries. We seek all this by spending a great deal of money at hairdressers and spas, yet this simple sunnah can save us a great deal of money, time and effort whilst we continue to live like our beloved Prophet .

5. Maintaining the 1/3rd Rule in Eating

Miqdam bin Madikarib said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah say:

‘A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third of food, one third for drink and one third for air.’” [Ibn Majah]

It is an underestimated fact that food has a dramatic effect on your body’s and brain’s performance. This hadith clearly highlights that overeating is a reprehensible quality we should stay away from. However, it is also important to remember that undereating is equally as harmful to a person. In order to function, we need to have a balanced outlook towards our meals; your level of food consumption should not leave you feeling tired or bloated as this is a state that leads to laziness, which is a vice we seek refuge in Allah from.

Can you conquer the world by sleeping? No. So, eat a nutritious, balanced meal that is sufficient in suppressing your hunger.

6. Speaking Good or Keeping Silent

The Prophet said:

“He who believes in Allah and the Hereafter, if he witnesses any matter he should talk in good terms about it or keep quiet.” [Muslim]1

We often find ourselves in situations where we sit and talk about things that do not concern us. We waste precious minutes, even hours, just by talking about matters that will not increase us in knowledge, character or anything for that matter. When speaking ill of a person or situation, the conversation becomes elongated, sadly due to the desire to gossip. The beauty of this particular sunnah is that it will help you save time and reduce the amount of energy used to contemplate over irrelevant matters being discussed. This energy and time could be well spent on something beneficial, such as reading Qur’an or doing vital tasks, or only speaking things that benefit oneself and others in dunya and akhirah.

7. Doing Hijama (cupping)

The Prophet said:

“If there is any healing in your medicines, then it is in cupping, a gulp of honey or branding with fire (cauterization) that suits the ailment, but I don’t like to be (cauterized) branded with fire.” [Bukhari]

The Prophet would be cupped on a regular basis. This form of treatment has been used throughout history in a number of countries. The benefits of cupping are vast, including the removal of toxins within the blood. Studies have shown cupping to be beneficial in the treatment of migraines, fertility and joint pains. This can be taken as a therapeutic measure against stress, helping to relieve a person of thoughts that impinge on their ability to complete their daily tasks.

8. Visiting the Sick

The Prophet said:

“Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and set free the captives.” [Bukhari]

The concept of looking out for others is found throughout the teachings of the Prophet . Sadly, we are regularly aware of people within our circle of acquaintances who are tested with an illness, big or small. Visiting and spending time with them has two major benefits. You demonstrate love towards another, instantly tightening the bonds of kinship/friendship. Also, to see someone who is unable to function as well as they normally can, is a strong reminder to us all of the blessing of health that we currently have and take for granted. The next time you hear of someone who is ill, try your best to go beyond sending them a ‘get well soon’ and practice a forgotten sunnah: make the effort to be physically present and comfort them.

9. Sitting When Eating/Drinking

It was narrated from Anas : “The Prophet prohibited that a man should drink while standing.” (Qatadah said) So it was said: “And eating?” He (Anas) said: “That is worse.” [Tirmidhi]1

Those who stand to eat or drink always look like they are in a rush. Sitting down to eat slows a person in their eating habits, reducing the amount they are likely to eat and the unhealthy speed by which they do so. As mentioned above, eating consciously prevents a person from becoming fatigued due to their stomach size. Importantly, eating together as a family, which requires you to sit, is a crucial way to build relationships.

10. Sleeping on Your Right Side

“When Allah’s Messenger went to bed, he used to sleep on his right side.”[Bukhari]

One of the main points to consider when a person wants to have a productive, blessed day is to look at how you go to sleep. The Prophet was the most successful in how he spent his days; the way in which he took to his sleep plays a role in helping him to be like this. Following in his footsteps is the key to unlocking a fruitful morning.

11. Saying Salam/Bismillah before entering a house

The Messenger of Allah said:

“If a person mentions the Name of Allah upon entering his house or eating, Satan says, addressing his followers: ‘You will find nowhere to spend the night and no dinner.’ But if he enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, Satan says (to his followers); ‘You have found (a place) to spend the night in, and if he does not mention the Name of Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: ‘You have found (a place) to spend the night in as well as food.”‘ [Muslim]

None of us want shaytan to enter our homes; we are aware of the distractions he creates to lead to our destruction. That being said, it is fundamentally important to seek refuge from his evil ways. Upon entering our homes, it is crucial to utter the Name of Allah to prevent our doors being open for him. shaytan is an enemy of productivity and success; his ultimate goal is to see us fail in our journey to develop a relationship with Allah . Take the measures, as given in the sunnah, against him because he will squeeze into whatever gap visible to him. Never let the enemy win!

12. Untying the three knots

Waking up for Fajr is a battle many of us have experienced or are experiencing. The hours of the morning, as mentioned above, are a blessed time for being productive in studying and completing various tasks. The sad reality is, many of us miss out on this because we fail to wake up for Fajr on time.

Allah’s Messenger said:

“During your sleep, Satan knots three knots at the back of the head of each of you, and he breathes the following words at each knot, ‘The night is, long, so keep on sleeping,’ If that person wakes up and celebrates the praises of Allah, then one knot is undone, and when he performs ablution the second knot is undone, and when he prays, all the knots are undone, and he gets up in the morning lively and in good spirits, otherwise he gets up in low spirits and lethargic.” [Bukhari]

This hadith sets out the plan of action to be successful: wake up, praise Allah , perform wudu and pray fajr. Being lively and in good spirits are the perfect ingredients to having a productive day, and this is what you will achieve when you follow this sunnah, In sha Allah.

How blessed are we that our religion teaches us about all the ingredients of a successful life? Alhamdulillah!

Writing IDP in front of the depositor's name is to have proper account of the money due for this particular project. It is not however mandatory, you can send an email to nairalandmuslim@gmail.com to notify us of your donation if IDP can't be included on the depositor's name.

IslamRe: Nairaland Muslims donate relief items to Internally Displaced Persons In Abuja. by Wizeboy(m): 7:44am On Jul 14, 2015
Ma Sha Allah

It was a wonderful and eye opener for us (Nairaland Muslims) to do more towards alleviating the sufferings of those victims of Boko Haram and also less privilege in our Society. We can definitely do more!

As a Muslim, it is importance for us to always engage in Sadaqah from whatever Almighty Allah blessed us with at every point in our life... Alhamdulillahi we are making progress towards obeying what we were enjoined by Almighty Allah in the Qur'an: Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity); for them is a great Reward. Suratul Al-Hadeed Qur'an 57 : 7.

I hope we will continue to do more than what we have done to the IDPs and less privilege in general, because this should be a continuous process and not once in a while thing.

JazaakAllah Khayran to the initiators, facilitators, contributors and everybody who partake in one way or the other in making it a success. Almighty Allah will accept it as an act of Ibadah and continue to lead us towards the right path (Ameen)

As salam alaykum warahmotullahi wa baarakatuh

Alhamdulillahi rabbil 'alameen for the successful holding of this year RAMADAN IFTAAR which was the 7th Edition.

Jazakumullahi khayran to everybody who participated in this year RAMADAN IFTAAR, your attendance and contribution really makes the event a success. Brothers and Sisters arrival before time was really commendable and appreciated, as this help us to start the programme at the time stated (I hope we will keep this timely arrival up in our subsequent meetings). This year RAMADAN IFTAAR was somehow bigger than that of last year with the attendance which stood at almost 60 people. May Almighty Allah accept it from us as an act of Ibadah (AMEEN) and I pray next year programme will be more elaborate and successful than this edition Inshaa Allah.

The lecture which was delivered by Ustaz Sheriffdeen Folarin Al-Mustafaa on "Zakat and Sadaqah as a catalyst to empowering Muslims and building a better society" was inspiring and fascinating. We should not however forget the lesson learnt on how we can calculate our Zakat and also to realise that Zakat is not the only way we can help the less priviledge and the society in general, as Sadaqah can also go a long way in liberating and alleviating the needy in our community/environment if we all can come together to donate the little amount of money we might be able to afford at every point in time. We should endeavour to donate more towards helping the destitute, motherless, less privilege and needy Muslims around us. May Almighty Allah continue to strengthen us toward the deen and on the right path (Ameen).

Inshaa Allah, I believe we will always try to invite some other good lecturers in our subsequent programme to learn more about our deen and enjoy new experience at every point in time.

Even though the programme was rated high, I am using this medium to say, I am very sorry and also accept responsibility for any flaw that might be witnessed by any Nairalander’s Muslim and Non-Nairaland Muslims that attended the event.

Some pictures that was took at the event yesterday has been posted above.

FINALLY, JAZAAKUMULLAHI KHAYRAN to the hosts, organizers, everyone of us that attended and those that showed interest to attend but which one way or the other couldn’t make it to the event. May Almighty Allah continue to guide everyone of us to the right path and also accept our intention in this holy month of RAMADAN as an act of Ibadah.

We hope next year RAMADAN IFTAAR will be more elaborate and wonderful than this year. Almighty Allah will grant everyone of us good health to witness many more of this HOLY MONTH on earth (Ameen)

Maa Salam

IslamRe: What Is The Main Criteria For Choosing A Spouse In Islam? by Wizeboy(m):
The hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari (4802) and Muslim (1466) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who said: “A woman may be married for four things: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty and her religious commitment. Seek the one who is religiously-committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may you prosper).”

The above hadith does not apply to woman alone but to man as well, you can marry a man for his religious commitment, wealth, beauty and lineage BUT it will be most beneficial if you can take his religious commitment as priority.

A religious commitment brother will definitely be bless with Barakah on the long run and will always deal and relate with you with the fear of Almighty Allah.

Almighty Allah will grant us a spouse that will be coolness in our eyes and enter Aljannah together (Ameen).

The best thing is for both of you to do the right thing by holding a Nikkah, you don't need big event or money to perform Nikkah. All you need is for your parents, his parents and witness to be present and give consent, which can be hold in a parlour or anywhere and he pays your Mahr.

Believe in Allah and His apostle, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity),- for them is a great Reward.

---------------------------

(51) 057.018

For those who give in charity, men and women, and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and they shall have (besides) a liberal reward.

---------------------------

(52) 058.012

O ye who believe! When ye consult the Messenger in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation. That will be best for you, and most conducive to purity (of conduct). But if ye find not (the wherewithal), Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.

---------------------------

(53) 058.013

Is it that ye are afraid of spending sums in charity before your private consultation (with him)? If, then, ye do not so, and Allah forgives you, then (at least) establish regular prayer; practise regular charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

---------------------------

(54) 063.010

and spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you, before Death should come to any of you and he should say, "O my Lord! why didst Thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity, and I should have been one of the doers of good".

---------------------------

(55) 064.016

So fear Allah as much as ye can; listen and obey and spend in charity for the benefit of your own soul and those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.

---------------------------

(56) 073.020

Thy Lord doth know that thou standest forth (to prayer) nigh two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so doth a party of those with thee. But Allah doth appoint night and day in due measure He knoweth that ye are unable to keep count thereof. So He hath turned to you (in mercy): read ye, therefore, of the Qur'an as much as may be easy for you. He knoweth that there may be (some) among you in ill-health; others travelling through the land, seeking of Allah.s bounty; yet others fighting in Allah.s Cause, read ye, therefore, as much of the Qur'an as may be easy (for you); and establish regular Prayer and give regular charity; and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan. And whatever good ye send forth for your souls ye shall find it in Allah.s Presence,- yea, better and greater, in Reward and seek ye the Grace of Allah. for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

---------------------------

(57) 075.031

So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!-

---------------------------

(58) 092.005

So he who gives (in charity) and fears ((Allah)),

---------------------------

(59) 098.005

And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight.

---------------------------

(60) 002.267
O ye who believe! Give of the good things which ye have (honourably) earned, and of the fruits of the earth which We have produced for you, and do not even aim at getting anything which is bad, in order that out of it ye may give away something, when ye yourselves would not receive it except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of all wants, and worthy of all praise.
---------------------------

(61) 003.092
By no means shall ye attain righteousness unless ye give (freely) of that which ye love; and whatever ye give, of a truth Allah knoweth it well.
---------------------------

(62) 002.003

Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what we have provided for them (i.e. give zakat , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allahs Cause - Jihad, etc.).
-------------------------------

(63) 002.277

Truly those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give zakat, they will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

-------------------------------

(64) 003.017

(They are) those who are patient ones, those who are true (in Faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allah. Those who spend (give the zakat and alms in the Way of Allah) and those who pray and beg Allahs Pardon in the last hours of the night.

-------------------------------

(65) 003.180

And let not those who covetously withhold of that which Allah has bestowed on them of His Bounty (Wealth) think that it is good for them (and so they do not pay the obligatory zakat). Nay, it will be worse for them; the things which they covetously withheld shall be tied to their necks like a collar on the Day of Resurrection. And to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is WellAcquainted with all that you do.

-------------------------------

(66) 006.141

And it is He Who produces gardens trellised and untrellised, and datepalms, and crops of different shape and taste (its fruits and its seeds) and olives, and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in taste). Eat of their fruit when they ripen, but pay the due thereof (its zakat, according to Allahs Orders 1/10th or 1/20th) on the day of its harvest, and waste not by extravagance. Verily, He likes not Al-Musrifoon (those who waste by extravagance),

-------------------------------

(67) 009.034

O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allah (i.e. Allahs Religion of Islamic Monotheism). And those who hoard up gold and silver (Al-Kanz: the money, the zakat of which has not been paid), and spend it not in the Way of Allah, -announce unto them a painful torment.

-------------------------------

(68) 009.035

On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver, etc., the zakat of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them):-"This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard."

-------------------------------

(69) 009.060

As-Sadaqat (here it means zakat) are only for the Fuqara (poor), and Al-Masakin (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and for to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allahs Cause (i.e. for Mujahidoon - those fighting in the holy wars), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.

-------------------------------

(70) 009.076

Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly (refused to pay the Sadaqah (zakat or voluntary charity)), and turned away, averse.

-------------------------------

(71) 009.103

Take sadaqah (alms) from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it, and invoke Allah for them. Verily! Your invocations are a source of security for them, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

I Think the answer here is also wrong. I haven't read any Hadith or seerah that says the people you listed above are among those commanded by the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) to write down the revelation. Amr bin Al 'As,Abdullah bin Zubair, Zubair bin Awwam and Said bin Thabit are people I know that the Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) commanded to write down the revelation of the Qur'an
as read and explained to me by my teachers.

These are few Ahadith to support my claim.

Sahih Al Bukhari Book 61,Haidth 507

Narrated Anas bin Malik: (The Caliph 'Uthman ordered Zaid bin Thabit, Said bin Al-As, 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair and 'Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Harith bin Hisham to write the Quran in the form of a book (Mushafs) and said to them. "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit (Al-Ansari) regarding any dialectic Arabic utterance of the Quran, then
write it in the dialect of Quraish, for the Quran was revealed in this dialect." So they did it.
You may say this was after the demise of the Proohet but there are evidences that Thabit was among those that do write down the revelation for the Prophet

Sahih al-Bukhari, Prophetic Commentary on the Qur'an (Tafseer of the Prophet (pbuh)) Book 65, Hadith 4725
Narrated 'Zaid bin Thabit Al-Ansari: who was one of those who used to write the Divine Revelation: Abu Bakr sent for me after the (heavy) casualties among the warriors (of the battle) of Yamama (where a great number of Qurra' were killed). `Umar was present with Abu Bakr who said, `Umar has come to me and said, The people have suffered heavy casualties on the day of (the battle of) Yamama, and I am afraid that there will be more casualties among the Qurra' (those who know the Qur'an by heart) at other battle-fields, whereby a large part of the Qur'an may be lost, unless you collect it.........................

Sunan Abu Dawood, Jihad (Kitab Al-Jihad) Book 15, Hadith 31
Narrated ':Zaid bin Thabit said "I was beside the Apostle of Allaah() when the divinely-inspired calmness overtook him and the thigh of the Apostle of Allaah() fell on my thigh. I did not find any weightier than the thigh of the Apostle of Allaah(). He then regained his composure and said "Write down. I wrote on a shoulder................

If you have any proof to dismantle my claims, I am ready to learn.
I couldn't see anywhere from your claim which dispute that those four were not among the copyists, unless you prove otherwise.

You can as well name those you feel are the copyists of the revelations.

Only two mosques were mentioned by name and they were Masjid Al Aqsa and Masjid Al Haram[Surah Al Isra 17:1]. The mosque of Quba was not mentioned by name in the Quran but can only be known when reading the tafsir of the Qur'an and the verse that can referenced with it is Surah At Taubah 9:107-108. I can't even find where mosques of Nabawi and Zirar were mentioned or where references were made to them. That apart.
MOSQUES

Al-Masjid-al-Haram
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #144)
( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #149)

Masjid-ul-Zirar
The event is mentioned in the Quran verse 9:107, the verse states:
“And there are those who put up a mosque by way of mischief and infidelity - to disunite the Believers - and in preparation for one who warred against Allah and His Messenger aforetime. They will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good; But Allah doth declare that they are certainly liars. [Quran 9:107]"

The Muslim scholar Ibn Kathir's commentary on this verse is as follows:
“(If we come back from our travel, Allah willing.) When the Messenger of Allah came back from Tabuk and was approximately one or two days away from Al-Madinah, Jibril came down to him with the news about Masjid Ad-Dirar and the disbelief and division between the believers, who were in Masjid Quba' (which was built on piety from the first day), that Masjid Ad-Dirar was meant to achieve. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah sent some people to Masjid Ad-Dirar to bring it down before he reached Al-Madinah. `Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas said about this Ayah (9:107), "They are some people of the Ansar to whom Abu `Amir said, `Build a Masjid and prepare whatever you can of power and weapons, for I am headed towards Caesar, emperor of Rome, to bring Roman soldiers with whom I will expel Muhammad and his companions.' When they built their Masjid, they went to the Prophet and said to him, "We finished building our Masjid and we would like you pray in it and invoke Allah for us for His blessings
[Tafsir ibn Kathir on 9:107].[7]

Masjid al-Aqsa
Masjid al-Aqsa (المسجد الأقصى) is a sacred mosque in Jerusalem, considered to be the third holiest place in Islam.
Masjid al-Aqsa is referred to in verse (17:1) of chapter (17) sūrat l-isrā (The Night Journey):

Sahih International: Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

Masjid-ul-Nabawi
l-Masjid an-Nabawi (Arabic: المسجد النبوي) or the Prophet's Mosque is a great mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia. It stands on the site of a mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad himself next to his house and contains his tomb. The Prophet's Mosque is the second holiest mosque in the world after al-Haram in Mecca. (Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem comes in third.)
Read this link for better perspectives about it: http://www.sacred-destinations.com/saudi-arabia/medina-prophets-mosque

Masjid Quba
Quba is the place on the outskirts of Madinah where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him), accompanied by Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and first stayed after emigrating from Makkah. They arrived on Monday 12th Rab’i al-Awwal, fourteen years after Prophethood and this date marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar (Hijra), (16th July 622 CE). A masjid was established here by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him), the first to be built in Islam.

I believe there is always a proper way of addressing situation like this than jumping into conclusion that somethings are wrong.. We should learn to be modest in our approach rather than totally condemning somethings which we might at the end of the day been the one who is wrong.

lanrexlan:
This is wrong. The Prophet(Peace be upon him and his family) was addressed as O Prophet! in not less than 13times.
These are the places in the Qur'an.
Surah At-Tahrim 66:1
Surah At-Tahrim 66:9
Surah At-Talaq 65;1
Surah Al-Mumtahina 60:12
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:1
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:28
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:45
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:50
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:59
Surah Al-Anfal 8:64
Surah Al-Anfal 8:65
Surah Al-Anfal 8:70
Surah At-Taubah 9:72 X = Read this verse again, I couldn't find any there.

How the answer is 150 is what I don't know. The word Sadaqât was emphasized on in 14 places in Surah Al Baqarah 2;196,263,264,270,271,273, Surah An Nisa 4;114 Surah At Taubah 9;58,75,79,103,104 Surah Al Hadid 57;18 and Surah Al Mujadilah 58;12,13

Spending in the cause of Allah was laid emphasis on in 21 places and even if we were to add this to Charity and giving to poor, needy, wayfarer etc it doesn't amount to 150 in my calculation.
This is a compilation of verses in Quran, with Yusuf Ali's translation, wherein the word "charity" appears - includes zakat (zakah) and sadaqa, both, i.e., obligatory as well as optional "charity" prescribed for the believers by Allah. zakat also appears as "poor-rate" in Shakir's translation and as "poor-due" in Pickthal's.

NOTE: Take note of some verses where Zakat, Sadaqat, alms appear more than one time

(1) Quran: Surah # 2, Ayat (ayah) # 43 (represented as 002.043)

And be steadfast in prayer; practise regular charity; and bow down your heads with those who bow down (in worship).
---------------------------
(2) 002.083
And remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now).
---------------------------
(3) 002.110
And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah: for Allah sees Well all that ye do.
---------------------------

(4) 002.177
It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing.
----------------------------
(5) 002.215
They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -Allah knoweth it well.
---------------------------
(6) 002.263
Kind words and the covering of faults are better than charity followed by injury. Allah is free of all wants, and He is Most-Forbearing.
---------------------------
(7) 002.264
O ye who believe! cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury,- like those who spend their substance to be seen of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. They are in parable like a hard, barren rock, on which is a little soil: on it falls heavy rain, which leaves it (Just) a bare stone. They will be able to do nothing with aught they have earned. And Allah guideth not those who reject faith.
---------------------------
(cool 002.270
And whatever ye spend in charity or devotion, be sure Allah knows it all. But the wrong-doers have no helpers.
---------------------------
(9) 002.271
If ye disclose (acts of) charity, even so it is well, but if ye conceal them, and make them reach those (really) in need, that is best for you: It will remove from you some of your (stains of) evil. And Allah is well acquainted with what ye do.
---------------------------
(10) 002.273
(Charity is) for those in need, who, in Allah's cause are restricted (from travel), and cannot move about in the land, seeking (For trade or work): the ignorant man thinks, because of their modesty, that they are free from want. Thou shalt know them by their (Unfailing) mark: They beg not importunately from all the sundry. And whatever of good ye give, be assured Allah knoweth it well.
---------------------------
(11) 002.274
Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
---------------------------
(12) 002.276
Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: For He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked.
---------------------------
(13) 002.277
Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
---------------------------
(14) 002.280
If the debtor is in a difficulty, grant him time Till it is easy for him to repay. But if ye remit it by way of charity, that is best for you if ye only knew.
---------------------------
(15) 004.077
Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were told to hold back their hands (from fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as - or even more than - they should have feared Allah: They said: "Our Lord! Why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite to our (natural) term, near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: Never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least!
---------------------------
(16) 004.114
In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men, (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value).
---------------------------
(17) 004.162
But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and practise regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward.
---------------------------
(18) 005.012
Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude."
---------------------------
(19) 005.045
We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers.
---------------------------
(20) 005.055
Your (real) friends are (no less than) Allah, His Messenger, and the (fellowship of) believers,- those who establish regular prayers and regular charity, and they bow down humbly (in worship).
---------------------------
(21) 007.156
"And ordain for us that which is good, in this life and in the Hereafter: for we have turned unto Thee." He said: "With My punishment I visit whom I will; but My mercy extendeth to all things. That (mercy) I shall ordain for those who do right, and practise regular charity, and those who believe in Our signs;-
---------------------------
(22) 009.005
But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
---------------------------
(23) 009.011
But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand.
---------------------------
(24) 009.018
The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity, and fear none (at all) except Allah. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance.
---------------------------
(25) 009.071
The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.
---------------------------
(26) 009.075
Amongst them are men who made a covenant with Allah, that if He bestowed on them of His bounty, they would give (largely) in charity, and be truly amongst those who are righteous.
---------------------------
(27) 009.079
Those who slander such of the believers as give themselves freely to (deeds of) charity, as well as such as can find nothing to give except the fruits of their labour,- and throw ridicule on them,- Allah will throw back their ridicule on them: and they shall have a grievous penalty.
---------------------------
(28) 009.104
Know they not that Allah doth accept repentance from His votaries and receives their gifts of charity, and that Allah is verily He, the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful?
---------------------------
(29) 012.088
Then, when they came (back) into (Joseph's) presence they said: "O exalted one! distress has seized us and our family: we have (now) brought but scanty capital: so pay us full measure, (we pray thee), and treat it as charity to us: for Allah doth reward the charitable."
---------------------------
(30) 014.031
Speak to my servants who have believed, that they may establish regular prayers, and spend (in charity) out of the sustenance we have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending.
---------------------------
(31) 019.031
"And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;

019.032
"(He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable;
019.033
"So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"!
---------------------------
(32) 019.055
He used to enjoin on his people Prayer and Charity, and he was most acceptable in the sight of his Lord.
---------------------------
(33) 021.073
And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).
---------------------------
(34) 022.034
To every people did We appoint rites (of sacrifice), that they might celebrate the name of Allah over the sustenance He gave them from animals (fit for food). But your god is One God: submit then your wills to Him (in Islam): and give thou the good news to those who humble themselves,-
022.035
To those whose hearts when Allah is mentioned, are filled with fear, who show patient perseverance over their afflictions, keep up regular prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have bestowed upon them.
---------------------------
(35) 022.041
(They are) those who, if We establish them in the land, establish regular prayer and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with Allah rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs.
---------------------------
(36) 022.078
And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the cult of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation) that the Messenger may be a witness for you, and ye be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector - the Best to protect and the Best to help!
---------------------------
(37) 023.004

Who are active in deeds of charity;

---------------------------

(38) 023.060

And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;-

---------------------------

(39) 024.037

By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed (in a world wholly new),-

---------------------------

(40) 024.056

So establish regular Prayer and give regular charity; and obey the Messenger. that ye may receive mercy.

---------------------------

(41) 027.003

Those who establish regular prayers and give in regular charity, and also have (full) assurance of the hereafter.

---------------------------

(42) 028.054

Twice will they be given their reward, for that they have persevered, that they avert Evil with Good, and that they spend (in charity) out of what We have given them.

---------------------------

(43) 030.039

That which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah. but that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah, (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied.

---------------------------

(44) 031.004

Those who establish regular Prayer, and give regular charity, and have (in their hearts) the assurance of the Hereafter.

---------------------------

(45) 032.016

Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which We have bestowed on them.

---------------------------

(46) 033.033

And stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display, like that of the former Times of Ignorance; and establish regular Prayer, and give regular charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah only wishes to remove all abomination from you, ye members of the Family, and to make you pure and spotless.

---------------------------

(47) 033.035

For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah.s praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.

Those who rehearse the Book of Allah, establish regular Prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, hope for a commerce that will never fail:

Free shipping from China to Nigeria usually take between 20 to 45 days. You can however, ask the seller to furnish you with the tracking number of the goods sent in order for you to always monitor the movement of the goods.

i want to believe even some sellers on amazon got their items from china,i notice some product with same pics, description and only price different. am i right? price on amazon is higher and my shipping coy only operated from usa.anyway, just want to know if they get items from china.e.g phone covers or cases
Not all sellers on Amazon and Ebay are located in either USA or UK. There are so many Alibaba, aliexpress, etc sellers on ebay and Amazon. They just increase the price of the goods once they list them on Amazon and Ebay.

So, there are some products that are better to be order from China than paying more for the same product in USA and UK.
InvestmentRe: How Can I Legally Invest #120,000 ? by Wizeboy(m): 9:19am On Jun 26, 2015
It depends on what you really want to do:

Firstly, if you are good in marketing, you can venture into importation business: carry out some feasibility study in your area and among your friends to see what you can sell fast, tablets, wristwatches, phone accessories, etc. and start importing.

Secondly, if you really want to invest the money, you can buy treasury bill or register with some Investment companies like ARM and the rest.

The choice is definitely yours.
BusinessRe: Please, What Business Can Be Done With N50,000-N100,000? by Wizeboy(m): 9:04am On Jun 26, 2015
Try to know what sell most in the area where you work or live and venture into importation... You can always make reasonable profit from importation once you venture into hot cake products.

To learn importation is not something difficult, there are so many threads on business section you can learn from.

All the best!
