Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 9-5 Jobs Are Not For Tall People In Nigeria by wolexy2020(m): 11:04am On Dec 26, 2023
Babysho:
I'm 189cm tall, fresh out NYSC and I've recently began working my first 9-5 job in Lagos and inorder to cut costs, I've had to opt for public transportation and I've found that the leg room is never enough in both those yellow buses and the BRT. I'm tired of folding like jeans in suitcase, my back won kpeme and I'm not 30 yet. It's even worse in traffic.

First of all, I don't think 189cm is that tall. Also, I'm suspecting most of these buses are shipped in from Asia where the minimum height is the lowest in the world.

Tall Nigerian working class, how do you cope?

If you can’t afford a car, buy a motorcycle.
You’d get some early 2000s motorcycle for about 1m and lesser in Ladipo or Oyingbo(What Nigerians call power bike).Register in a riding school. Get used riding gear and rain gears too. You can join those people doing contributions to help with saving.
Back problem is something you don’t wanna have early in life. It never goes away. In the meantime , dedicate time for yoga and other forms of stretching.
Thank me later.
Just so you know, the average height of the Japanese is about 171cm while that of Nigerians is 167cm.

Those mini buses are called Kei cars and aren’t meant for public transportation. We only converted them into such because it’s cheaper in maintenance.

Politics / Re: Union Reject As FG Increases Hazard Allowance From ₦5,000 To ₦40,000 For Doctors by wolexy2020(m): 10:40am On Dec 25, 2021
The replies I see here speaks so much for us as a country. No wonder the country keeps falling apart and we can’t stand up for ourselves.

The myopic views of people is part of what’s killing the country. It’s so sad. I know for a fact , if you do have a doctor or nurse in the family, you’d understand better. The dangers they go through, the emotional trauma.

Doctors are not wicked, Lecturers are not wicked, Police are not wicked. They are all victims of circumstances molded by the conditions they find themselves in this country.

Do doctors in private hospitals act better ? Yes.
Do lecturers in private Universities act better?. Yes

When you work so hard and get so little, it molds you and changes your behavior. A bag of rice is 27k and police officers are paid from 50k upward probably.
Na one bag of rice family go chop for one month ?school fees ?house rent ?

Imagine you are sleeping and a nurse comes to wake you up to attend to accident victims at 2am(probably people like you coming from a club and driving recklessly),Severed limps, fractured skulls and blood everywhere.

You are in your house right now probably lying on your bed while doctors are there in the hospital doing their best to keep people alive and to make it worst, Most states are owing doctors 2- 12 months salary.
My mum’s friend retired as a nurse. She died last year from complications of HIV she got as a result of a needle stick injury(From an erratic patient). She never got her gratuity. She worked for 35 good years. She could have gotten her drugs with that gratuity but the government never paid it.

She was paid 5,000 Naira as hazard pay and ended up getting HIV. A medical doctor doesn’t just save lives , they get to live with your pain too.

In Nigeria , it’s like 1 doctor to more than 1,000 patients.

Last year December to new year, I was at the hospital because of a sick relative. There was only one doctor on call, it was obvious he was tired, mosquitoes was everywhere, he was running around , attending to people here and there at 2am.
I slept in the car that day , the next morning at 8am, he was still there , sitting at that same position attending to patients.
I went home, showered and came back with food for my relative around 11am and he was still there, same clothes, same shoe, eyes bloodshot, fatigue written in his eyes….
At the end of the day, he gets to go home with 200k while your so called politician sit in their air conditioned Lexus LX570 and you come here to call doctors ingrates.
I hope you were delivered at home as a baby and not at the hospital. Try to volunteer for a week at the hospital then you’d understand that 500k per month can’t even do justice to the work they do.

Please reevaluate your misconceptions about medical personnels.
PS: forgive my typos.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Please Help Me Check If This Job Post Is Real At Cameroon by wolexy2020(m): 3:35pm On May 01, 2021
It’s pretty much a scam but on a petty basis.

The scam here is for you to pay for accommodation before leaving Nigeria.
That is why they placed emphasis on not wanting any hotel reservations from “booking.com”.
Play this scenario in your head.
They send this out to 10,000 email addresses.
600 people fall victim, all paying a deposit of 100 dollars to secure their accommodation.
That’s a total of 60,000 usd (that’s almost 30m Naira)

The Mercedes Benz C300 is a 6 cylinder engine with a “V” formation. The 300 means it’s a 3 litre engine. Try to know your onions first before pushing it to other people. Google can also be a of great help too.

Hope I didn’t come across too rude , if yes then I apologize. Please oh

Doublecheck:
I did not think the coil to be the culprit cause the engine runs smoothly, no vibrations and it idles perfectly with or without the A/c running.

However why I suspect the fuel pump is because the cause does hard start in the morning, also when the fuel level drops the car does not run smooth, when I top the fuel it runs smoothly for sometime.

But now that you mentioned coil it will not be a bad idea to check, please remind me; to check the coils I have to remove them one by one when the engine is running and if the car does not vibrate at any one pulled out that coil is bad Abi?

Thanks bro please I need your response.

Yeah, that’s exactly how to tell. If it takes a while before starting , I’d advice you just find a shop selling fuel pump,tEll then you wanna buy a fuel pump and have them test a complete fuel pump.

It seems the pump itself is weak so the lines have no pressure in the morning and you’d have to start the car twice before it picks up.

Another idea and probably the best is to have your car scanned. Any black smoke in the morning from the exhaust?.

I am not a mechanic, I am just advising based on what I have gone through before . You should probably let an expert check it out for you .

Doublecheck:
Seun do you seem to have any Idea why a car will not exceed 20mph even when the throttle is pressed flat? Could it be the fuel pump?

Did you check your coils ?
Had similar problem last month, 2008 Toyota Camry. Two coils were bad. Got used 6,000 Naira each.
Try to check your coil. If you can unscrew the bolt , you can actually check the coils in seconds
Business / Re: Where Can I Find Sellers Of Rice And Other Farm Produce Processing Machineries by wolexy2020(m): 1:29pm On Apr 18, 2018
Your best bet will be to source from China. There are thousands of companies that deal in this type of machineries.
Check alibaba.com
You can talk to their reps and make sure you are getting whatever you are buying at a good price. It’s best to compare 3 to 4 sellers before making a conclusion.

They can be shipped to people here on Nairaland that Deal with shipping from China to Nigeria. It takes about 50 days.
I wish you success.
Career / Re: Why Do Most Solar Street Lights Fail After A Year Period by wolexy2020(m): 7:37pm On Apr 16, 2018
Solar panels are about 90% maintenance free. They need to be cleaned once in a while to free the surface from dust.
The main issue lies with the batteries used. Most battery can only be recharged about 300+ times before they start failing.
Apparently, that’s like a year.
Another reason is the use of substandard products. Cheap LED bulbs that burn after few hours of usage, solar chargers that don’t last , and battery that are well below rated volt and Ah.

Politics / Re: How I Wish Most Of These Were Manufacturing Companies In Our Country by wolexy2020(m): 1:12am On Mar 21, 2017
Nobody said religion is EVil and nobody is stopping you from worshipping God. The problem is Religion has been taken to the extreme by Nigerians and Africa in general. This is the bondage that the white man has instilled in us to keep us in check.

A Canadian once told me that if Nigerians build companies and manufacturing plants the way we build churches and mosques, Nigeria will be the leading country in the world. Majority of Nigerians are gullible.

Imagine a Nigerian having headache, just go to the hospital or get Aspirin, but the won't. They will drink anointing oil and wash their head with holy water and starting praying. Like it was said , God only help those who help themselves.
Nigerians have been brainwashed and it will take a very long time before we can be free from this bondage.

Churches build Universities for profit when their average member can't even afford the fees. I have had the privilege of going to church in other countries and I must tell you, Nigerian churches are scams. All they talk about is money money money.
If we continue talking about this cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabric of our beloved Nigeria , it will take a long time .

This is my own opinion and I am entitled to it so don't quote me. If you have your own opinion about this issue, please say it.

Thanks bro . I just wanted to show that guy how the TV looks like. I never knew he was one of those closed minded people that buy mb just to quarrel with strangers online. The population of people using that TV in china is over 200million. Definitely more than the population of Nigeria. That's why people never learn. They are too close minded to see things the way they are. I pray he becomes mature sooner.

It's so heartbreaking that we Nigerians don't explore our talents. Most parents will even shout you down when you tell them your ideas. I don't really support what he did because he only welded two parts together but I admire his spirit and ability to go against all odds and take the risk.
And if I am allowed to criticize him a bit I think this is too much fuzz for a 200cc engine or thereabout. A lot of things are just wrong but I admire his courage. Nice one !

It's in the human nature to show off. When you buy a car , you'd do the same because even if it was given to you as a gift, it's not easy to own one. So when you buy yours and take a selfie in the mirror , no one will blame you. I was on the waiting line for the iPhone 7 and was the 7th person to buy it, first black guy, why won't I show the world I have it. shocked shocked. E no easy ! .
