Ralphlauren: you are right. I know a white dude that was with LBG and was offered a contract with RBS. the offer was withdrawn all because he had ONE missed mortgage payment from years ago which he claimed was as a result of an issue with his bank.
most companies especially financial institutions do not joke with an untidy credit file. They are a crazy bunch. They don't waive it for anyone...since they dropped so many people after the failed Williams and Glyn project, I won't touch them with a large barge pole. The fuckeers spent £2bn on a project and decided to cancel it. |

Ralphlauren: passing credit job for a job that requires such really matters.
i know someone that had a job offer withdrawn just because of a missed telephone bill. apparently, he was sent an unusually high phone bull and he chose to dispute it. however rather than paying off the bill first and then disputing it with his mobile operator, he chose not to pay the bill. it went down on his file as a missed payment. RBS will withdraw any employment contract if you have a default on your credit file. |

Aphrodite007: For banks for instance, they want to know you are responsible and will not steal customer data/money. Once you have bad credit history, lai lai o, thy would rather take a prisoner over you. They believe people with bad credit history mostly gamble and can’t risk someone like that around people’s money/data. Like we were warned to not even share where we work on social media , you go fear secret service now! Who will take take people with criminal record? That is why everything you do in UK, you have to put your career path into consideration. If you are going for roles that require security clearance like DV and SC, they will want to know eveything about you including who you are having extra marital affairs with an so on...it is that intrusive and it takes like 6 months to process. During that period, if you are on site, you will be escorted everywhere including toilet breaks. In my last role, they had to escort one guy out of the site after a week cos they found something during his security checks. Please protect your credit and avoid criminal records even traffic offences. |

LagosismyHome: This weekend I had a family visiting from naija so decided to do tourist stuff... take the family to see Big Ben , London eye etc and generally walk around CL
a great shock there was an event by big Ben... some nudist event. I saw loads of naked men and women cycling . I didn't hear off the event before hand .. As in all their God given goods were on display .
My friend kids who are just 5 and 4 were like yuck aunty what is this..... giving me eyes like Is this how una dey do for London. I had to look for paper to cover their eyes . As in grown men things were in full display . Women the same .I didn't even know it legal to show God given gift in public and full display.
My eyes have seen it all .... shocked but amused . The pics i took are not as censored as this so went online to find a censored pic to show so mod wont delete They have been doing this for the past 10 years..It is called world nakeeed bike ride to protest for over dependency on oil and lack of care for bike riders. They said they are naked to get people's attention, I think they just want to get naked for the sake of it. |

Hacking is being used loosely. If you have a genuine access to a database, that is not hacking. That's abuse of privilege by a malicious insider. The banks internal control system is lax. Every transaction not initiated by the customer should be authorised. |

Looking through Job websites I see jobs with salaries of £30-40k per year but people here have talked about jobs that pay £500, £650, £700 per day and someone even said £20k per month.
Those with such info should please help us in demystifying the uk job market Abeg o
Thanks You only earn those higher daily rates with years of experience under your belt and you get into organisation and add value. It's really not for everybody cos you are taking a big risk. In contracting world, the end client might decide they don't need you again after a week on the role and you have to start looking for another. You can't just jump in there... For me it took about 6 years to get my foot in the door. To me it's a way of life and the ability to pick up new skills at various places whilst providing solutions to their problems. It is actually very cheap for companies to pay those humongous rates cos they don't have to deal with employees NI, flexible benefits, pensions and redundancy etc Everything is paid in bulk and they fire and hire as they like. With your case, if you start learning programming languages such as python or Ruby (they are easy to learn compared to others) you should be fine. |

Ralphlauren: That’s it @ bolded.
Buying a new car is quite a popular choice for many (both migrants and non-migrants), so I am surprised someone is taking offence with my suggestion.
Honestly, if you can afford it go for brand new. Do your search. It is not as expensive as people tend to perceive. Some manufacturers offer 0% interest and even pay a contribution towards the deposit.
With a new car, you pay no road tax for the first year, no MOT payments for three years, some manufacturers even throw in free annual motor servicing. Don't be angry bro...our mileage varies. It will be foolish to compare brand new car to fairly used. If I am a permie I will be driving a brand new SQ7 but I hate the fact I have to budget for financing a car during bench time...this is why I prefer to get a fairly used car. Mind you some fairly used cars are more expensive and durable than brand news, its all relative. But to advise you guys who want to buy a very cheap car, if you have been stranded on a b-road on a cold night where AA takes 5 hrs to reach, you will think twice, most especially with kids. You only live once...enjoy life! |

I find the site confused.com has got cheaper rates when it comes to car insurance. The area you live matters. Even if you have a lock up garage in Hackney central you will still pay muchore than someone living in a remote area in Scotland parking on the street. |

It's on comparethemarket that I got £680 as lowest offer... but coz they ask you to input different parameters I.e approximate amount of miles covered per year, insurance contribution etc... I want to know if the amount is fair or not. It might be that I sabotaged my search by minor things I inputed. And yes it's comprehensive. Shey u understand? Tainku Just be sure that all the creative information you provided can be supported with documentation cos they will insure and about a month of flenjor driving they ask you to provide evidence. Hastings did that to me.... I was happy I didn't put odu there. |

Aphrodite007: Thanks boss, I’ll keep this in mind. Maybe I’ll open the starling as my current account. I have just been weary of these small banks shutting down one day, haha blame my Igbo sense! This is not Nigeria aunty Aphrodite007..the banks are regulated by FCA / prudential regulators and depositors funds are protected upto 85k for each account holder should the bank go down same level with traditional banks. |

Aphrodite007: But is there anything wrong with using the the normal traditional bank? What advantage do these online banks have over the trad banks?
Just curious sha. Cos Oga said we should open our joint account in NatWest, it’s doing me somehow, like I’m betraying Barclays There's absolutely nothing wrong with traditional banks. I still maintain my accounts with Halifax, HSBC, natwest and nationwide. The analytics provided by these banks sold me.. The fact that I get notification for every transaction and the location of where the card is spent and the shop. One of their marketing slogan is that you get notified before the receipt of your purchase is out. I can freeze the card if I misplace it or stolen. These capabilities do not exist with traditional banks. I can spend overseas without charges too. You should never own just a single account in this country. The bank can tell you they will close your account if they so desire... I know people this happened to, they were in dire straits trying to open a new account to keep getting paid after the account closure. |

Ralphlauren: Another thing I have realised is that it’s best to pay the yearly premium in full upfront. Paying monthly is more expensive as the insurance company adds interest on monthly direct debit payments. I have never done monthly payments. I just get it out of the way once. Some insurance companies will do you a deal for upfront payment for 10 months to have a year no claims bonus |

I’m actually tempted to try them out based on your reviews. I have the three of them starling, monzo and revolut. They are very good. But my main bank now is starling. Go on your phone now and open atleast starling and try it for few days. You will stop using your traditional bank for daily spends. |
