Is it crack? CHUUKKSS: People are learning here, so don't use style and huff here. If I hadn't shared my experience, we wouldn't know it is totally unacceptable. Be wise and learn too. Tell the next person to do the right thing next time as I have been told. |

Thank you mumi blessedmumi: Spot on!! Networking has helped me a lot here in the USA and I'm willing to give back 100%. Information is key and I am yet to see that person (an immigrant) who can boast of making it in USA on their own. You grow by lifting others up. |

Thanks Predstan: Yes its different. Just visit the nearest Vio office. I think it's only 7k in naira. But as a Nigerian, you should understand the Nigerian ways of getting things done ASAp. |
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Wretch32: 5:46pm On Jul 24, 2019 |
Thanks DBELLEs: Go to the office of FRSC. It cost less than 15k and should be ready in 7 to 10days.
Please, avoid VIO in this matter. It isn't their job and if it found out that the international driver's license is fake while in the US you might not get away with it easily. |

How can one get this international drivers license, is it any different from our Nigerian drivers license? Educate me plis dear Predstan: The international Driver's license can be used for further 6 months abroad. |

I understand how you feel sir, but you have been very helpful on this thread, lagosismyhome has apologized and that should be the end of it Let’s move on and continue to help each other whatever way we can Please fairheart: You should know I will delete this account if need be. The thread will continue, but when you let people have their way in attacking the nature of an innocent soul like this, is that necessary? It hurts me to the bone to see those posts up. |

With all due respect fairheart, this statement this particular one, dead it!! It’s not necessary fairheart: It is funny to see new monikers asking someone who have been extremely active to take her words elsewhere. Very sad! Leave the thread for them. You have done enough already. |

The Indians someone talked about in my quote above, they are resourceful because they network and work together, same thing other Asians But Nigerians?? Nahh our case is different I’ve decided to rest my case and take the advice of others here... it will remain a dream and tbh I can do just fine on my own However, as soon as I’m settled in school I will like to change the trend and mentor two people from this thread (intending applicants) In 2017 I messaged lagosiamyhome by sending her a direct message through this platform Told her my study plans, Infact I was already expecting I-20 from the school then We exchanged a few emails that would swing my decision eventually and today I’ve reaped the rewards . She may not remember but I’m eternally grateful for the impact those 2 back and forth emails we sent each other has on me today I turned down my admission and went back to dig deep and prepare better That person I was in 2017 could be anybody here right now reading this!! I want to be part of a success story and I want to mentor someone as much as I’m needed This is a challenge to the rest of you? How many have you mentored and how many are you willing to mentor, it’s not easy to come here and scrutinize transcript true and that itself is a selfless service but for those who are capable, don’t shy from mentoring others not just academically but career wise Like a wise man once said “ a little empathy goes a long way” Let’s try to make the our worlds a better place by helping each other and guiding each other rightly and selflessly I rest my case... texrem: where are you going? Shoot!! |

Hmmmm.... deep Duly noted Thanks sire Leone26: Now's the time to begin cultivating a global mindset Bro. LinkedIn is an excellent tool for this. Also, search for "MS in US" groups on Facebook (especially yocket) and you'll get to see Indians sharing vital info.
I've learnt so much from Indian students currently at my school whom I found via LinkedIn; sorting out an apartment from here, estimate of cash to carry for the first month expenses before the GA stipend kicks in, etc. Most of them even run YouTube channels on studying in the US...
Just hope this helps ) |

Wonderful advice sir I appreciate this biikeys: One word of advice..don't limit yourself to just Nigerians. You'll learn a lot from people of other nationalities. I understand your concern about having someone to guide you through things, but also don't be too quick to make decisions about it. Lots of students have lost their way in the US just because of wrong friends, networks. Get here, focus on school while studying the system, don't make decisions based on rumors-verify every piece of information you get online and gradually you'll form your networks. |

U better take am easy and connect with your professors and collegues. Don’t network with anyone from Nigeria. When you get there, you can scrutinize for like minds and no go jam Agbako cus if you jam one, your body go kaako |

I’ve been on LinkedIn searching for them since after my visa interview and I’ve found none I don’t think my suggestion is entirely bad tho, I received very little assistance to be honest and only person I got any from was fairheart, and of course you responded as well when I reached out to you but yeah I just believe we can build a strong network (voluntarily) but of course, it’s not a do or die affair If nobody is interested, in the end we go all dey alright Porpor: You already have a network with the persons(s) that have assisted you up to this level. Your conversations with them can now grow beyond visa related issues, into much deeper issues. Have you tried to check the LinkedIn page of your school? That's a cool place to link up with Nigerians around your new neighborhood. |

Guys, I was thinking, and the older guys could help out if necessary Some of us leaving need support, (not financial ohh Infact anybody that makes such requests will be blocked ) instead of just being thrown into the deep end We need to network, keep in touch and share opportunities if necessary And help others too who come via this platform as well Information is power, there are lots of things we can learn from each other, solutions can be proffered, mentorship and career advices only for students in status, or resident graduates(there should be a means of verification before being accepted into the group) @lagosismyhome is this possible ma? I believe as one of the elder ones you would be in great position to champion such a good cause. Just an idea, I hope others like it tho Cos personally I’m already struggling with information, about going into a new country, no friends, and I’m yet to find a Nigerian student there, it helps having a mentor |

I doubt if that’s one of the criterion used in issuing or denial of non-immigrant visas However, obey the instructions going forward Please do share your transcripts so others can learn JohnnyAmhan: I just saw that it was written in the front of Abuja embassy, I did not know, now I am very worried . |

No JohnnyAmhan: Please, tipping a police officer at the gate after an interview..
Does it warrant a denial after an initial approval at the embassy? |
