Crime / Brazilian Gang Leader Dressed As Daughter In Wonky Prison-break Attempt by wrightangle83(m): 2:27am On Aug 05, 2019
When “Freaky Friday” and “Tootsie” meet “The Great Escape.”

A Brazilian gang leader tried to escape a high-security prison by dressing up as his teenage daughter. Even planning to leave her behind in jail, according to authorities.

Clauvino da Silva, 42, pretended to be a 19-year-old girl Saturday to walk out of the front door of Rio’s Gericinó prison, with smooth skin, long black hair and a cute pink T-shirt with doughnuts and love hearts.

The convicted drug dealer’s amazing get-up was so convincing prison staff only stopped him at the end of visiting time because he started acting too nervously, according to authorities.

Da Silva, known as “Shorty,” was filmed standing awkwardly with his hands behind his back as his wild costume was slowly exposed, starting with officials removing his glasses and a long black wig.

The tattooed inmate then removed his shirt, showing a black bra underneath — and an amazing silicon mask giving him a smooth, teenage complexion.

Now only wearing tight jeans, he finally pulled off the mask, showing short-cropped hair and wrinkles and features befitting a 42-year-old man.

The inmate had planned to leave his daughter inside the jail in the western part of Rio de Janeiro, officials say. Police are looking into her possible role as an accomplice.

Another woman who is pregnant and able to avoid being searched is also being probed for potentially smuggling in the outfit, according to local reports.

Authorities say da Silva was part of the leadership of the Red Command, one of the most powerful criminal groups in Brazil that controlled drug trafficking in a large part of Rio.

After the failed escape bid, da Silva was transferred to a special unit of a maximum-security prison and will face disciplinary sanctions, officials said.

Many Somalis have returned to their home country in recent years to help rebuild the country

Crime / Abdirahman Omar Osman: Engineer Yarisow, The Mayor Of Mogadishu Has Been Killed. by wrightangle83(m): 2:46am On Aug 03, 2019
It was late afternoon in Mogadishu, a few years back, and a bleary-eyed man in a dishevelled uniform was blocking my way - and brandishing a grenade.

It seemed an odd choice of weapon. But that was hardly the point.

I reached, slowly, for my phone, and called a friend for help.

I knew Engineer Yarisow would answer. He always did. And I knew he would sort things out - that was his speciality.

At the time Engineer Yarisow was Somalia's presidential spokesman. But over the years he's held many important posts: government adviser, cabinet minister, and mayor of Mogadishu.

A charming, brave, dedicated, and ridiculously modest man, with a grin usually lurking beneath his hesitant moustache.

If his name - Engineer Yarisow - stands out, it's because it's a nickname. And Somalis take their nicknames seriously. Yarisow means small; engineer refers to the fact that Abdirahman Omar Osman once trained to be an engineer. Hence, Engineer Yarisow.

He lived for decades in London after fleeing Somalia's civil war. He was a local councillor in Ealing and a housing official, a pillar of the community - a British family man, as well as a Somali.

But then, in 2009, he went back to Mogadishu. Alone.

No-one sent him. No-one pushed him. He did it because it was the right thing - the courageous thing.

And yes, he told the man with the grenade to leave me be - and it worked.

Over the years I've met so many members of Somalia's far-flung diaspora, who, like Engineer Yarisow, have left families, careers, and security behind to return to help rebuild their native country.

All of them knowing the risks - knowing how dangerous Somalia still is.

Some have opened restaurants, or businesses, or hospitals.

Some, like the journalist Hodan Nalayeh, came back from Canada to try to show the world a different side of Somalia - its beaches, its culture, its food.

Hodan was one of the most energetic, most enthusiastic people I've ever met. Two weeks ago, she was killed by al-Shabab, when the Islamist militants attacked a hotel in the south of the country .

Then, last week, came the news I'd been half-expecting and dreading for years.

A suicide attack on the mayor's office in Mogadishu. Six dead. Engineer Yarisow was among the wounded. I rang some friends to find out more.

It was bad - the mayor was in a critical condition, his skull damaged. Later he was flown abroad, to Qatar, for surgery.

One of the people I called was Hodan Ali, who'd left the building not long before the bomb went off.

She's another Canadian Somali, from Ontario, a doctor and mother of three. Three years ago, she left her young family behind and flew to Mogadishu - a necessary sacrifice, she calls it.

She's now an adviser in the mayor's office, focusing on the humanitarian needs of the city's poorest.

"Since the attack, my family in Canada text me every day," she told me. The message is always the same: one word - "leave".

But she won't.

"We can't," she said. "That would leave a vacuum for the extremists to fill."

She's been left feeling numb, wondering who she can possibly trust any more. The bomb was detonated, it's thought, by a blind woman who'd been working in the office next to Hodan's.

I didn't mention the words screamed last month by a crowd of Trump supporters in the US, the words aimed at another Somali immigrant - a congresswoman. The words: "Send her back."

But I didn't need to mention them. They still hang in the air.

"Back in Ontario," Hodan said, "People always ask me where I come from. My kids get asked the same question, all the time. At least here, no-one asks that. It's about finding your own space in this world, where you don't have to justify your existence."

We talked about Engineer Yarisow - about how he was one of those rare politicians who actually got things done, who knew how to navigate Somalia's poisonous factionalism.

And then, a few hours later, I got a short text message from someone else in Mogadishu: "He's gone."

Engineer Yarisow died of his injuries on Thursday.

He was a relentlessly optimistic man. Any chance he got, he would talk about Mogadishu's glory years in the 60s and 70s, before the civil war. It was, he'd say, a jewel of a city on Africa's Riviera. It would be so again one day.

The last time I saw him was, I think, on the terrace of a new restaurant on Mogadishu's Lido beach at sunset. In front of us, crowds of young Somalis, many back from the diaspora for the holidays, playing in the waves - a riot of accents from all over the world.

And Engineer Yarisow sitting at a long table, tucking into a fresh lobster, enjoying the view. A hopeful smile on his face.

Science/Technology / From Symbol Of Wealth In Nigeria, To Symbol Of Poverty, Haba Technology. by wrightangle83(m): 4:30pm On Jul 25, 2019
In the 70's, 80's and even late 90's, owning these properties in Nigeria signifies wealth, success, affluence and riches. Innovations with time, and technological advancements has relegated them to poverty symbols in Nigeria. They are only used in most rural areas if any. People were killed, and people killed because of these properties. Women were slayed just to enjoy these properties. People travel distance just to feel these properties. But today, they are just trash and good for nothing properties. In today's Nigeria, people can even reject brand new ones, if given as gifts no matter the cost.

The big questions is, what happens to our present brands of choice properties we are struggling under sun and rain to own in 2060's. forty one years from now. Haba Technology.

Health / 55 People To Benefit From Organs Of North Carolina Man Killed In 'freak Accident by wrightangle83(m): 5:37pm On Jul 24, 2019
OAK ISLAND, N.C. -- Fifty-five people are expected to get organs from a Raleigh man who died in a freak accident at Oak Island beach in North Carolina last week.

Lee Dingle, 37, was in the ocean playing with his kids last Friday when a wave pushed his head to the ground and broke his neck.

Shannon Dingle, Lee's wife, said swelling from the injury caused the father of six to suffocate.

Shannon told ABC 7 Chicago sister station, WTVD, that, though she wishes Lee were still alive, she's glad his organs are helping others.

Carolina Donor Services said the organs should save four lives, give sight to one or two people and ultimately help 55 altogether.

"I think it's important for people to know that their next of kin is the one who ultimately makes the decisions, even if you're registered as an organ donor, you need to make sure your loved ones know your wishes because they will ultimately make the decision," she said.

WTVD first met the Dingles in 2016, when a story covered the moment a Durham medical supply business gifted their daughter Zoe an electric lift for her motorized wheelchair.

The support was a relief for the family who said there were state funding delays and obstacles.

Dingle's freak accident was no doubt a financial set back for his family.

However, more than $245,000 has been raised for his family on GoFundMe.

Algeria showed more desire for the AFCON cup than any other country. So they deserve it.

It all started like joke, but later turned into reality. They said lightning don't strike twice, but we all saw it happen. The Desert foxes of Algeria defeated the Taranga lions of Senegal twice, with same scoreline in this 2019 AFCON. 1-0, 1-0. Despite Senegal parading an array of stars, and were bookmakers AFCON favorite for the cup.

I say well-done to Algeria, they are truly the deserving AFCON Champions.

Phones / Apple Pay Reportedly Launching In Austia Tomorrow by wrightangle83(m): 4:16pm On Apr 23, 2019
Apple Pay has been gradually making its way across the globe. After debuting in Saudia Arabia and Czech Republic, the contactless service is now expected to launch in Austria tomorrow, Wednesday 24th April

That’s according to The Standard newspaper in Austria at least.

Apple Pay will be available on all Apple devices for Austrian customers, where the feature is supported. That means any iPhone, iPhone 6 or later, or Apple Watch, can pay at compatible merchant terminals at brick-and mortar stores.

Apple Pay is also available at many online checkouts, so Apple users can pay with Touch ID or Face ID on iPhones and iPads. Mac users with a Touch Bar can pay with their fingerprint directly. Users with other Macs can still use Apple Pay by authenticating with a nearby iPhone or Apple Watch.

However, Apple Pay also requires agreements with banks. The Standard cannot confirm which Austrian banks will be signed up on day one. However, N26 and Erste Bank Sparkasse teased that Apple Pay was coming soon back in March, so it’s all but confirmed that they will be onboard.

Contactless payment terminals are reasonably widespread in Austria, so Apple Pay should see high utility as soon it’s available.

Politics / You Manufacture Falsehoods, Paint A Non-existing Picture, Dogara Tells Tinubu by wrightangle83(m): 3:56pm On Apr 23, 2019
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu manufactured falsehoods, painted a non-existing picture when he said “Just look at the way Saraki and Dogara and their ilk hijacked the Budget Process these past four years. National budgets were delayed and distorted as these actors repeatedly sought to pad budgets with pet projects that would profit them”.

Dogara reacting Tinubu’s allegation in a statement issued on his behalf by Turaki Hassan, his spokesman, said Asiwaju Tinubu dwell on brazen mendacity, much less murder facts and decorum in his rabid bid to justify his patently clear facist agenda of controlling all levers of power in Nigeria. Asiwaju Tinubu’s nocturnal agenda has no parallel in the history of any democracy and it is more loathsome when he throws caution to the winds and maligns government officials who are doing a yeoman’s job of stabilising the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, even in spite of political differences.’ Dogara also said ‘Asiwaju shouldn’t take better informed Nigerians for fools. Otherwise, when he sought to take control of the 8th Senate and 8th House in 2015, was it because of any Budget Saraki and Dogara had delayed or pet projects they had inserted into any Budget before 2015? Asiwaju must come clean on this matter. He should let Nigerians know why he wants to install both the Senate President, the Speaker and leadership of the 9th Assembly. He may yet win the support of some of them if he comes clean on this matter.’ Dogara statement read thus Only the ignorant with dubious academic certificates will say the maker of a document has padded the document that only he can constitutionally make We have noted the statement issued on April 21, 2019 by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wherein he stated his reasons for sponsoring or supporting some aspirants to various leadership positions in the forthcoming 9th Assembly. Ordinarily, this would not have elicited any response from His Excellency, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara, as Asiwaju is entitled to sponsor those he believes will have no choice but answer to his dog whistles anytime he blows same in his capacity as the self acclaimed National Leader of his party. 2. If Asiwaju had confined his intervention to stubborn facts, this response would not have been necessary. He, however, used the opportunity to manufacture falsehoods and paint a non-existing picture of the stewardship of Mr Speaker and the work of the 8th House of Representatives under his watch. It is therefore, incumbent on us to set the records straight for posterity. 3. Asiwaju Tinubu accused the leadership of the National Assembly of stymieing “the APC legislative initiatives while attempting to hoist noxious reactionary and self interested legislation on the nation”. He said further: “Just look at the way Saraki and Dogara and their ilk hijacked the Budget Process these past four years. National budgets were delayed and distorted as these actors repeatedly sought to pad budgets with pet projects that would profit them”. He continued, “Even worse, they cut funds intended to prosper projects that would have benefited the average person. After four years of their antics halting the progress of government, we should do all we can to prevent a repeat of their malign control of the National Assembly”. He generously used the usual unexplained words like installing a progressive leadership and so on.

4. We do not expect Asiwaju Tinubu to dwell on brazen mendacity, much less murder facts and decorum in his rabid bid to justify his patently clear facist agenda of controlling all levers of power in Nigeria. Asiwaju Tinubu’s nocturnal agenda has no parallel in the history of any democracy and it is more loathsome when he throws caution to the winds and maligns government officials who are doing a yeoman’s job of stabilising the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, even in spite of political differences. 5. It is on record that the Rt. Hon. Speaker has done more to stabilize this government more than Asiwaju Tinubu and his ilk whose stock in trade is scheming, manipulation and subversion especially when they feel they cannot be caught. When the history of Buhari’s administration is written by those who know the truth of what really transpired in the last four years, Asiwaju’s pretentious loyalty to President Buhari will then be exposed. We won’t say more but no matter how long it may last, the truth will one day overtake lies. Perhaps, Asiwaju is still bitter about the leadership contest for Speakership of the 8th Assembly, even though the actors have moved on culminating in Speaker Dogara magnanimously facilitating the appointment of his opponent in the race and Tinubu’s protege as House Majority leader. 6. The chief cause of delay in enacting the budget is the persistent refusal or neglect of the Executive to present it in good time. For the records, in the last four years, there was no urgency or plan by the Executive to achieve a January to December budget cycle. For the avoidance of doubt, we will show the dates the Budget estimates were submitted by the Executive in the last four years below. -2016 Budget was submitted on December 22, 2015, exactly nine days to the end of the year. -2017 Budget submitted on December 14,2016, just 17 days to the end of the year. -2018 Budget was presented on November 7, 2017, the earliest even though it also fell short of the 90 days stipulated by the Fiscal Responsibility Act. -2019 budget was presented on December 19, 2018 exactly 12 days to the end of the year. As if the late or delayed submission of budget estimates wasn’t enough, in most cases, Ministers and heads of agencies contributed to the so-called delay by consistently refusing to appear before National Assembly Standing Committees to defend their budget proposals in line with the provision of the Law. At some point, the leadership of the National Assembly had to take up the issue with the President who advised his Ministers to honour legislative invitations to defend their budgets. 7. What Nigerians don’t know is that the Executive, through the various Ministries, continued to propose additional projects to be included in the 2018 budget even as at April and May of 2018 which further delayed the passage of the 2018 budget. These were communicated officially and if anyone is in doubt, we will exhibit the letters with the dates they were written and received. In any case, the National Assembly inserted a clause in the Appropriation Bill consistent with S.318 of the Constitution which allowed the Budget to last for 12 months after Mr President’s Assent. This enabled the Executive to spend more of the capital component of the Budget as it still had 12 months protected by law. 8. As an activist legislature, the National Assembly effected an amendment to S. 81(1) of the Constitution to compel Mr President to present the Budget estimates not later than 90 days to the end of a financial year in order to solve this problem but unfortunately, very unfortunately, Mr President declined assent to the bill which was passed by both the National Assembly and over 2/3rds of the State Assemblies. 9. The National Assembly made a further attempt to make the Budget process much better by improving the institutional capacity of the Parliament to process and pass National budgets by passing the National Assembly Budget and Research Office (NABRO) Establishment Bill into law. It was loosely modelled after the American Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Again, Mr President declined assent to the Bill. 10. It is important to emphasize that the National Assembly is not a Rubber Stamp Parliament and reserves the right, working cooperatively with the Executive to interrogate projects unilaterally inserted by the Executive branch without the input of or consultation with Parliament. The legislature cannot be accused of padding a Budget it has unquestionable constitutional power to review. The Budget is a law and the Executive does not make laws. Therefore, it’s only the ignorant and those who hold dubious academic certificates that say the maker of a document has padded the document that only he can constitutionally make. In the words of his lordship, Hon Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High court, in suit No.FHC/ABJ/CS/259/2014 delivered on March 9, 2016, “the National Assembly was not created by drafters of the Constitution and imbued with the powers to receive ‘budget estimates’ which the first defendant is constitutionally empowered to prepare and lay before it, as a rubber stamp parliament. The whole essence of the budget estimates being required to be laid before Parliament is to enable it, being the Assembly of the representatives of the people, to debate the said budget proposals and to make its own well informed legislative inputs into it.” 11. The parliamentarians are representatives of the Nigerian people and you don’t expect them to rubber stamp budgets that are heavily skewed and lopsided against most sections of the country. It is their responsibility to ensure equitable and even distribution of capital projects across all the nooks and crannies of the country, if the Executive fails to do so. In any case, it is false to state that legislative intervention in the Budget Process is to benefit the legislators and not their constituencies. We challenge Asiwaju Tinubu to prove otherwise. He should also show in what way the 8th Assembly acted differently from other Assemblies of the past to warrant the kind of language used. In any case, all the aspirants to the Senate Presidency and Speakership he is sponsoring are majority leaders in the 8th Assembly and took part in the Budget Process that he made the chief basis of his crude attack. This proves beyond doubt the hypocrisy of Asiwaju’s stated reasons for supporting his candidates. He should find better reasons other than the lies being peddled about the Budget and obstructing government business. Asiwaju shouldn’t take better informed Nigerians for fools. He may yet win the support of some of them if he comes clean on this matter. 12. The 8th National Assembly is on record to have supported Mr President’s requests on critical issues of governance. We backed him by Resolution on the issue of fuel subsidy, we backed him on the National Minimum wage, even though we were more sympathetic to workers’ rights. In security matters, we never cut any proposal from Mr President save our refusal to rubber stamp a clear constitutional overreach of spending $1 billion in arms purchase without appropriation. We have passed more Bills than any Assembly before us including Bills that are helping the government improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria, and there were times we passed Bills within 2 legislative days. Is Tinubu genuinely ignorant of all these? 13. We challenge Asiwaju Tinubu to list out the Bills he claimed were not passed by the National Assembly. The oil and gas or petroleum sector is the most important and critical sector of our economy which accounts for over 70 percent of our earnings, the Executive didn’t forward a single Bill to the National Assembly to reform and reposition the sector in the last four years even when repeatedly urged to do so by Mr Speaker in his first year in office. The lawmakers waited in vain and had to take the bold initiative of crafting a Bill – Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PGIB) among others, passed it in record time and transmitted same to Mr President for assent. This Bill was vetoed without an alternative Legal framework proposed by the Executive. Did Asiwaju miss this also? 14. Asiwaju Tinubu should mention the so-called bills the Executive sent to the National Assembly and were delayed to show he is a man of honour or forever keep his peace. Could someone also challenge Asiwaju to list all the “ noxious reactionary and self interested legislation on the nation”? Can he name the bills that are reactionary and not in the national interest? Is this how wayward lust for power blinds the reasoning of people we should ordinarily respect? Is it not most unfair, unpatriotic and wicked for Asiwaju Tinubu to have resorted to factoids in promoting his known fascist agenda which he mistakenly thinks he is keeping secret. 15. Finally, we advise Asiwaju Tinubu to be circumspect in his use of language. In this case, he spoke as a spokesperson of depravity. Our reaction must therefore be seen as a provoked counter-punch. Any one can descend into the gutter if he so wishes but no one has a monopoly of gutter language. We won’t run an adult day care centre anymore on matters like this.

Health / World’s First Malaria Vaccine Launched In Malawi by wrightangle83(m): 3:30pm On Apr 23, 2019
The world’s first malaria vaccine, RTS,S pilot programme was launched in Malawi on Tuesday.

This makes Malawi the first of three countries in Africa in which the RTS,S vaccine will be made available to children up to two years of age.

RTS,S is a scientific name given to the malaria vaccine and represents its composition; the ‘R’ stands for the central repeat region of Plasmodium (P.) falciparum‘circumsporozoite protein (CSP); ‘T’ for the T-cell epitopes of the CSP;and the‘S’ for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg).

The other two African countries, Ghana and Kenya, will introduce the vaccine in the coming weeks.

Malaria remains one of the world’s leading killers, claiming the life of one child every two minutes, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Most of the deaths are in Africa, where over 250 000 children die from the disease every year.

Children under five are at greatest risk of its life-threatening complications. Worldwide, malaria kills 435 000 people a year, most of them children.

According to WHO, the vaccine, RTS, S is an innovation milestone of three decades in development

“Thirty years in the making, RTS,S is the first and to date the only, vaccine that has demonstrated it can significantly reduce malaria in children.

“In clinical trials, the vaccine was found to prevent approximately four in 10 malaria cases, including three in 10 cases of life-threatening severe malaria,’’ a WHO statement said.

Also, Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, said: “Malaria is a constant threat in the African communities where this vaccine will be given.

“ The poorest children suffer the most and are at highest risk of death.

“We know the power of vaccines to prevent killer diseases and reach children, including those who may not have immediate access to the doctors, nurses and health facilities they need to save them when severe illness comes.

“This is a day to celebrate as we begin to learn more about what this tool can do to change the trajectory of malaria through childhood vaccination,” Moeti said.

According to Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s Director-General: “We have seen tremendous gains from bed nets and other measures to control malaria in the last 15 years but progress has stalled and even reversed in some areas.

“We need new solutions to get the malaria response back on track and this vaccine gives us a promising tool to get there.

“The malaria vaccine has the potential to save tens of thousands of children’s lives,’’ Ghebreyesus said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the pilot programme is designed to generate evidence and experience to inform WHO policy recommendations on the broader use of the RTS,S malaria vaccine.

It will look at reductions in child deaths, vaccine uptake, including whether parents bring their children on time for the four required doses and vaccine safety in the context of routine use.

The vaccine is a complementary malaria control tool to be added to the core package of WHO-recommended measures for malaria prevention.

These other measures include the routine use of insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor spraying with insecticides and the timely use of malaria testing and treatment.

Financing for the pilot programme was mobilised through collaboration among three key global health funding bodies, including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and Unitaid.

Politics / Nigerian National Assembly And Its Funny Characters by wrightangle83(m): 6:27pm On Mar 19, 2019
Call them whatever you like, they have huge population of followers and admirers. Just like every human, they are entitled to criticisms. But the funny thing about them is, Nigerians have little or no knowledge of them possessing this skills or characters until they are elected into the NATIONAL ASSEMBLY as lawmakers.

PATRICK OBAHIAGBON (THE GRAMMARIAN)

Patrick Obahiagbon is a Nigerian politician and legal practitioner. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2007. He Represented the good people of Oredo federal constituency in Edo state from 2007-2011. Obahiagbon established a cult-following among many Nigerians for his grammatical caricature when engaged in social and political commentary.

DINO MELAYE (THE SINGER/ACTOR)

Dino Melaye is a Nigerian politician, a Senator and member of the 8th National Assembly, representing Kogi West Senatorial district. Dino is a member of the People’s Democratic Party. He is currently the Chairman Senate Committee on FCT. He is a very good singer/actor to the admiration of his supporters and followers. He loves cars so much that he frequently flaunts his various car collections on social media. He is loved by his people as a grass root politician. Against all odds, he wasn't recalled by his senatorial district, despite being in detention and on a hospital bad at the same time. A multi-billion naira failed initiative that was spearheaded by Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello. Dino has even recently added salt to injury as he defeated the candidate of the powers that be, by winning his re-election bid as an opposition member, and cementing his place in the incoming 9th assembly against all odds.

ADEMOLA ADELEKE (THE DANCER)

Ademola Adeleke is a Nigerian politician and Senator representing Osun-west senatorial district of Osun State, Nigeria since 2017. He is from the Adeleke family of Ede in Osun State.

Adeleke is the gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party in the Osun 2018 gubernatorial elections. An uncle to one of Nigeria's music icons Davido Adeleke, and a father of two wonderful musicians B-Red and Sina Rambo. He is a very good dancer, who isn't shy to dance any day, any time and anywhere to the admiration of his fans and followers. he is fondly called and known all over Nigeria as the dancing senator.

As the tenure of this 8th assembly comes to a Holt in june 2019, the questions on the lips of many Nigerians are

(1) Have we elected funny characters into the 9th national assembly again that only time can unravel?
(2) Are we expecting more funny persons like Dino Melaye?
(3) Will the 9th national assembly be filled with celebrities instead of lawmakers?
(4) Will more lawmakers adapt the Dino strategy, To be vocal celebrity lawmakers, funny, but be loved by your people against all odds?

ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

This is not to say we forgot the likes of BEN MURRAY-BRUCE (COMMON SENSE SENATOR) and SHEHU SANI (TWITTER SENATOR)

Rotation is likely with goalkeeper Bernd Leno arguably the biggest name to be pushing for a start ahead of No 1 choice Petr Cech.

It was a day with monumental change for Arsenal as club CEO Ivan Gazidis' move to join AC Milan was finally confirmed by the club.

The South African became a hugely influential figure at the club having overseen the departure of Arsene Wenger and arrival of Emery.

Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham are the men effectively replacing the role of Gazidis at the Emirates.

As part of the afternoon shoot in St Albans, players posed for photographs in the club's iconic red home shirt as well as club-tailored suits.

But keeping 28 players under control is a tough task for anyone and it quickly descended into chaos with England striker Danny Welbeck showing off his 'Zoolander' impression to team-mates.

The film starring Ben Stiller, who played Derek Zoolander, remains popular with people to this day trying to perfect the iconic 'Blue Steel' pose.

Arsenal's European campaign commences on Thursday night at the Emirates as they welcome Ukrainian side FC Vorskla Poltava.

Emery has a strong record in the Europa League and Arsenal will be expected to easily navigate a group that includes Sporting Lisbon and Qarabag.

Midfielder Grant Xhaka was in hysterics as he spoke with team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the shoot,
Danny Welbeck struggled to stay serious as he showed off his 'Zoolander' pose known as the 'Blue Steel',
Unai Emery's side are in fine form ahead of their opening Europa League match against Ukraine's FC Vorskla.

Rivals may be preparing to get their Champions League campaigns underway but there was plenty to smile about on Tuesday for Arsenal's squad at the annual squad photocall.

Unai Emery's side are in fine form after three consecutive wins and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Co could barely contain their laughter at the shoot.

Crime / One Of 'britain’s Most Wanted Fraudsters’, 44, Appears In Court Today. by wrightangle83(m): 5:15pm On Sep 14, 2018
One of 'Britain’s most wanted fraudsters’, 44, appears in court charged with a £12million scam against public bodies including an NHS trust after he was extradited from the US.

A Nigerian man who featured in the National Crime Agency’s top 10 most wanted alleged fraudsters campaign appeared in court today accused of a £12 million scam involving public bodies.

Bayo Awonorin, 44, was originally arrested in 2012 as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering involving public bodies, including Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, but he later fled the country while on bail, Lincolnshire Police said.

He was arrested in Maryland, US, and was successfully extradited after being charged with conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to launder money.

The Lincolnshire force said he has been a wanted man since 2013 in connection with the investigation called Operation Tarlac.

He was traced by Lincolnshire officers from the Economic Crime Unit to the US and through close collaboration with both the UK and US authorities, the force added.

Awonorin appeared in the dock at Lincoln Magistrates Court today.

Wearing a white t-shirt, Awonorin spoke to confirm his name and to give his date of birth.

He also confirmed his nationality as Nigerian and told the court he was of no fixed address.

The court clerk confirmed that Awonorin faces two charges of conspiring with others to defraud public institutions and to convert criminal property.

Both offences are alleged to have occurred between January 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012.

There was no bail application or indication of plea from Awonorin.

He was remanded in to custody and will next appear at Lincoln Crown Court on October 15.

Awonorin, previously from Bexley, London, had been the subject of a BBC Crimewatch appeal and the National Crime Agency’s 10 most wanted alleged fraudster’s campaign in 2016.

Investment / Chinese Debt, See What Nigerians Will Be To China In A Few Years Time. by wrightangle83(m): 11:45am On Sep 12, 2018
China is fast dominating the entire African continent, they now have a summit with Africa officially (CHINA AFRICA SUMMIT ) The main agenda of the summit is, promise for infrastructural development and loans. But we all know that nothing goes for nothing in this world. Our leaders are running away from the western economies who monitor human rights abuse, corruption and democracy stability before lending money to them. They are all embracing China, who cares less about those conditions. Liberal economist will advise you about Chinese loans and it implications, they will caution you to think twice before obtaining it. But here in Nigeria, we are so blinded by sweet talks to the extent of swapping our currency with China, yet we are so entangled with Chinese debt all around our neck. China has officially taken over a Sea port in SRI LANKA for 99 years and an Air Port in ZIMBABWE because of debt.
Nigeria is even the worst, because our main stay of the economy oil, is fast loosing is relevance in the world. We owe the Chinese more than those countries put together, and our currency has been swapped with theirs. If we continue to borrow our feature away from China, we will end up as slaves to them in a few years time.

Politics / A Month Without DSS Appearing On The News For The Bad Reasons Since 2015 by wrightangle83(m): 6:22pm On Sep 09, 2018
Guys, it's past one month already, and DSS has not been on the news headlines for the bad reasons since the inception of this APC government in 2015. A proof that LAWAL DAURA was working for a cabal within PMB's government, who had assured him of complete immunity and job protection. Hence his high-handedness and rascality.
