Add another zero to soccer’s most expensive rivalry. Cristiano Ronaldo earned $105 million after taxes and fees in the past year despite taking a pay-cut at Juventus, landing him at No. 4 on the 2020 Forbes Celebrity 100, one spot above his top rival in the sport, Lionel Messi, and making him the first soccer player in history to earn $1 billion in salary across his playing career. The 35-year-old striker is only the third athlete to hit the mark while still playing, following Tiger Woods, who did it in 2009 on the back of his long-term endorsement deal with Nike and Floyd Mayweather, who did it in 2017 and has made most of his income from a cut of pay-per-view sales for his boxing matches. Ronaldo, the first to reach the earnings milestone in a team sport, has made $650 million on the pitch during his 17 years as a pro and is expected to reach $765 million in career salary with his current contract, which ends in June 2022. Messi, who began playing at the senior level three years after Ronaldo, has earned a total of $605 million in salary since 2005. The only team athlete to even come within striking distance of those figures was former New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, who retired in 2016 after 22 years in Major League Baseball having earned $450 million in salary. Not even soccer legend David Beckham came close, ending his career with total earnings of $500 million, half of which came from off-the-pitch endorsements. “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time, in the world’s most popular sport, in an era when football has never been so rich,” said Sporting Intelligence’s Nick Harris, whose Global Sports Salaries Survey ranks teams worldwide based on total salary expense. “He’s box office.” Ronaldo and Messi’s head-to-heads heated up in 2009 in Spain’s La Liga, where Ronaldo played for Real Madrid and Messi for Barcelona. Their faceoffs on the pitch ignited a nine-year battle for bragging rights as the best—and top-paid—in the sport, a highly personal tit-for-tat that had them re-negotiating contracts in lockstep and monopolizing the game’s highlight reel. The rivalry was as entertaining as it was profitable, coming just as clubs around the world were seeing soaring attendance and an influx of television money. The two were perfectly matched for battle, on and off the pitch: Ronaldo perfected a shirtless, stylized showmanship while Messi played the quiet game, always a tad unkempt and as prolific a scorer as he was a wingman. Ronaldo strutted after every goal. Messi was a master at thanking his teammates. Both backed it up. Barcelona won La Liga’s title six times and two Champions Leagues trophies with Messi on the squad. Real Madrid won the Spanish title twice and the Champions League four times with Ronaldo. During their years in the league, each player nabbed the Ballon d’Or (soccer’s MVP award) four times, and El Clásico, the nickname for their clubs’ fierce clashes, was a record-setting television event worldwide. But when it comes to leveraging celebrity, it has been no contest. Guided by Jorge Mendes of Gestifute, one of the world’s most powerful agents, Ronaldo has amassed an ever-growing following of fans and consumers drawn to his poster-boy good looks, his trend-setting hair styles, his impeccable fashion sense and, lately, his softer side as a family man whose toddlers pop up on his social media posts. In January, he became the first person with 200 million followers on Instagram, part of a social media army of 427 million across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that makes him the most popular athlete on the planet. Nike pays him upwards of $20 million annually and signed him to a lifetime deal in 2016, making him just the third athlete, after Michael Jordan and LeBron James, hitched to the Swoosh for eternity. In May, the footwear maker announced the release of a ten-year-anniversary edition of his first signature Mercurial Superfly and a child’s version to celebrate his son’s 10th birthday, complete with his famous celebration stance, signature and logo. Pitches for Clear shampoo, Herbalife and pharmaceutical maker Abbott help raise his endorsement tally to $45 million. Keke Palmer implored members of the National Guard to march with Black Lives Matter protesters on Tuesday. The Strahan, Sara and Keke TV host, 26, made her impassioned plea to the National Guard officers during a peaceful protest in Los Angeles. 'Stand together with the community, with society to stop, stop the governmental oppression,' she said. 'We need you. March with us, march beside us,' Palmer then went on to ask the soldiers. While they said they couldn't leave the intersection to march with the protesters, the men eventually knelt with them instead. The video was retweeted by Get Out director Jordan Peele, along with the caption, 'Your move, Bone Spurs'. The pejorative is a reference to US President Donald Trump's infamous avoidance of active service in the Vietnam War because of a supposed foot problem. The nationwide protests are in response to the killing of Minneapolis man George Floyd last month. In the May 25 incident involving Floyd, arresting officers said he matched the description of a forgery suspect, and subsequently resisted them when they took him into custody. In an accompanying clip, Chauvin was seen pinning his knee into the back of Floyd's neck as Floyd pleaded with him to relent. 'Please, please, please, I can't breathe ... please, man ... my stomach hurts, my neck hurts, everything hurts ... I can't breathe,' said the African-American man, who later died in police custody in a nearby hospital. Chauvin faces charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in connection with the incident. Minnesota state and the Minnesota Department of Human Rights on Tuesday put in a human rights complaint against the Minneapolis Police Department. 'We know that deeply seated issues exist,' Gov. Tim Walz said. 'I know it because we saw the casual nature of the erasing of George Floyd’s life and humanity. We also saw the reaction of the community. 'They expected nothing to happen, because nothing happened so many times before.' In the wake of the jarring sequence of events, riots began in Minnesota and spread both nationwide and internationally, with thousands of protesters taking to the streets, even amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The events have drawn parallels to the Los Angeles riots of 1992, which broke out after four police officers were acquitted in their trial over the beating of Rodney King, which was caught on video camera. In the five days of rioting, more than 60 people died, 2,000-plus were hurt and damages to destroyed property topped $1 billion. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8382515/amp/Keke-Palmer-convinces-members-National-Guard-knee.html?espv=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrqxZLTSvIM Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44 Seun

5. Trent Alexander-Arnold Age: 21 Club: Liverpool FC Listen, you've got to be really bloody good to come in at number four while playing exclusively as a right-back. Fair play, Trent Alexander-Arnold. So often the catalyst behind Liverpool's attacks, whether through via a delightful cross-field ping or a pinpoint cross, the 21-year-old is one of world football's most feared offensive weapons already, a key component behind Liverpool winning the Champions League.

3. Mason Mount Age: 20 Club: Chelsea FC After spending last season on-loan with Derby County, Mount followed new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard back to Stamford Bridge and has since been a star for his boyhood club, scoring three times in nine games.

3. Rodrygo Age: 18 Club: Real Madrid Rodrygo made quite the mark on his Real Madrid debut last month when he came off the bench to score a scorcher in a 2-0 win over Osasuna. Zinedine Zidane will be hoping for plenty more of the same in the future from his $49.3 million talent.

2. Jadon Sancho Age: 20 Club: Borussia Dortmund Sancho was Europe's top provider last season with 23 assists, and he's already added another six this term, as well as four goals in what's been a blistering start to the new campaign.

1. Kylian Mbappé Age: 21 Club: Paris Saint-Germain What more can be said about the lad that hasn't been done to death already? Kylian Mbappé is the most obvious candidate who would still need to be ID'd at Tesco if they were buying a six pack of Stella Artois to win a Ballon d'Or one day, and despite some truly generational talent appearing on this list, it isn't particularly close. 39 goals in 43 games in all competitions for PSG during the 2018/19 season is all the proof you need that his development is well on track, and Nike have spent the last year showcasing him around the globe before eventually releasing his signature collection in December. Forget being a global footballer, the guy is a global celebrity. https://newsnaira.com/73912/10-most-handsome-football-youngsters/amp
