Thank you.
Yes, I guess the rent is a bit on the high side. I have seen rent as low as EUR 250 for one occupant so are they saying it is better to rent two separate rooms? Of course I know there are other more expensive single rooms but It should be possible to get a room around EUR 600 or less with no additional charges for 2 occupants.

I'm already in Germany but currently in Hamburg for German Language training. Anyone with useful/relevant information in this regard should kindly get across to me through my email address - tellmemhore@gmail.com.
I think it depends on the following among others:
1: How modern the apartment is especially in terms of amenities.
2: The location within the city also matters. If it’s quite inward, rent is usually cheaper.

Your overall goal should influence where/what you eventually settle for. You could stay away from the major parts of the city, get a decent apartment and still be able to commute to school in good time.
As you search, please beware of scammers even on “verified”/“reputable” sites and please as always, if it’s too good to be true, it definitely is. Before making any payment, it’s always better to see the apartment in person, that way, you can put things in perspective.

Hi fam, how long does the appeal take? Made a family reunion appeal for my spouse since Dec 2022 and no word from the embassy and the Auslander authority in my city.
If by appeal, you mean an appeal to get an earlier appointment date, then you may have to write them again. Usually, they either respond same day/almost immediately or they send an interview/appointment email to your spouse.

Congratulations, this is really encouraging and your persistence is challenging!

Hopefully, my spouse will not have to wait for more than 4 months, too🙏
Thanks for your kind words! I’m hopeful your spouse won’t have to wait longer than that. Just be prayerful and be sure to “prod” them from time to time.

Hello All,
Thought to share my update here as I’ve benefited from others here as well.
7/7/2022: My spouse(Blue Card)and I(Family Reunion) applied for an appointment/interview together. My Husband got a date immediately while I didn’t.
28/9/2022: My spouse arrived Germany on a blue card visa.
24/10/2022: My spouse wrote the German embassy in Nigeria on my behalf to appeal the 14 month waiting period for an appointment on health concerns. We waited this long so my spouse could attach exit and entry visa stamps in the email just so they know we’re no longer together in Nigeria.
25/10/2022: Embassy responded to the email saying the “embassy no longer grants priority appointments to spouses and children of researchers, blue card holders, scholars, students e.t.c
We were sad to say the least but decided to try again at a later time.
15/11/2022: My spouse reached out to the embassy again on my behalf on health grounds and they responded almost immediately with the same response as before. We were determined to try again, still.
16/11/2022: To my utter amazement, I got an appointment email from the embassy. This was after they rejected our previous appeal barely 24 hours earlier. They even gave me a date less than 2 weeks from when they responded.
29/11/2022: Went for my family reunion interview at the embassy. No hassles. Went with all my documents except 1 as my spouse was yet to get a blue card in Germany. The interviewer said my visa may take a while as I didn’t have my spouse’s blue card at the time but requested I send it once we get it.
16/12/2022: Sent my spouse’s Fiktionsbescheinigung to the embassy.
The rest of December: Waited with bated breath with no response from the embassy. Called their lines in Lagos to no avail. Was only told to wait.
18/01/2023: Got a mail from the embassy requesting my travel date.
19/01/2023: Submitted my travel documents to the embassy.
25/01/2023: Received my stamped passport.
8/02/2023: Arrived Germany.
In all, i was only separated from my spouse for 4 months as against the standard long waiting period.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my enquiries here. It’s a journey that requires a lot of patience indeed.

We got our family reunion visa for my wife and kids. So glad we didn’t have to wait for an eternity. Here’s the timeline:

Applied for appointment - July 23, 2021
Got appointment date - August 10th 2022
Appointment - 6th September 2022
Email to submit passport & travel ins - 31st October 2022
Submitted passports - 31st October 2022
Got passports with visa and docs - 4th November 2022

Caveats
1. Myself, as the principal, is on a Blue Card in Germany, so there was no need for verification.
2. We had to call the Lagos consulate, write the LEA as well as the Federal Foreign Office due to health and safety issues of my family.
3. All documents checked out from the appointment, so that aided smooth transition.

Wish others still expecting good-luck and Godspeed.
Hello,
Please at what point did you write to the Federal Foreign Office and LEA due to health and safety issues of your family?
I’ve been waiting over 1 month post family reunion interview(blue card spouse). I just want to know if there’s anything that can be done to get a faster response from them.

Bro I want to be sure about something

For blue card, there is no lawyer verification in the family reunion process yeah? Like the lawyers don’t get to go to your origin and do all those long check?

Secondly will the embassy only accept court wedding documents? Do they require evidence of traditional or white wedding (for blue card holders)
JahBwoy:
For the first question, ideally, spouses of blue card holders are exempt from verification. However, I’ve heard of a few cases here where some were required to pay for verification even though their spouses were blue card holders. I’ll advise you go with the fee for your interview if you can. I didn’t go with it for mine and I sure got tonguelashed by Paulinus. If you can’t go with it, it’s absolutely fine. Just tell him you’ll sort it if it’s required. That’s what I told him.

Secondly, your marriage certificate from the court is part of the requirements for family reunion. In addition to this, you’re required to take along pictures from the wedding(civil, at least). If you had other types like church wedding and or traditional marriage, it’s advisable you also take a few copies of those along. They’d like to see enough to ascertain that the marriage wasn’t arranged. Be sure to include pictures of crucial moments like the signing of the marriage certificate in your pictures. I hope this helps.

Lol, my spouse did hers since September.

Although lawyer came around December before Xmas.

Still waiting for Lagos to issue the Visa
Na wa o. My spouse is a blue card holder, though, so no need for verification. Hence, why I’d thought the process would have been faster.
September is a long time sha.

Please has anyone who went for family reunion interview in November, 2022 heard from the embassy yet?

Softy1407:
I was required to provide only one document which I did within that same week of the interview.
Oh alright. I was required to provide a document which I did 2 weeks later. I’d thought that was the reason for the delay. Apparently, I don’t think it is.

Been waiting for 3 months post family reunion visa application and my Husband(A blue card holder) who’s already in Germany wrote to the embassy on my behalf a few weeks ago and they responded saying we’ve to wait for a year.
I’d appreciate any help you can render, please.

Can anyone that recently moved their family (wife and kids) on an EU Blue Card share the duration they waited after the family reunion interview? My wife and kids had their interview on the 6th of September with all documents checking out fine, no need for verification, apartment size confirmed okay, and all things checked out, but we are yet to get a feedback. I’ve emailed the visa back office but no response. I’ll appreciate your help.
Please how long did it take your wife and kids to get an appointment? What was the duration between their application and interview date?

Mine is under Blue card category for family reunion visa. My interview was on 30-Jun-2022 and I got email on 15-Sep-2022 to provide additional docs. You will get reply within 3 months.
Please when did you apply before getting an appointment?

Hello All,
I applied for reunion visa on July 7,2022 same day as my spouse who is a blue card holder. My spouse got his visa in September, but till now I’m yet to get an appointment date for interview. It’s getting frustrating waiting without direction.
Please is there a way to fast track the process for spouses of blue card holders?
Also, can anyone who applied for reunion visa(whose spouse is a blue card holder) recently give an idea of how long it took to get an appointment and how long the whole process took entirely.
I’ll appreciate as much help as I can get. Thanks.
