Politics / 7 Interesting Ways Nigerians Celebrate Independence Day by XavierBlue(m): 6:42pm On Sep 30, 2015
Nigerians will be marking another Independence day tomorrow, October 1. There are different ways Nigerians are planning to mark the day. In celebrating Nigeria at 55, some citizens will mark the day in one or two of these 7 interesting ways.

1. Going to recreation spots

Some Nigerians will go to different recreation centres come Independence day. This include going to the beach. Others will go to amusement parks with their children.

2. Sleep and rest

Due to the stress some Nigerians pass through between Mondays and Fridays, they will use the public holiday declared for Independence to sleep. Such people will not leave their house.

3. Visitation

Nigerians love visiting themselves. Some people have not had the time to even say hello to their friends for some time now. The celebration will afford them to pay for this.

4. Engagement with social media

Lovers of social media like Facebook, Nairaland, Twitter and the rest will spend a good time chatting with their social media friends.

5. Partying

Nigerians love parties. It is not only when there are marriages, birthdays or naming ceremonies that Nigerians party. Some people will organise concerts and get together tomorrow to mark the Independence anniversary.

6. Watching Television
People will not just listen to the president’s speech or the march past, they will also watch different TV programmes to relax themselves. This is one of the 7 interesting ways independence day will be celebrated.

7. Sports

This is common with men and the youths. Neighbourhoods without football pitches will have the streets turned into football fields. This is a form of enjoyment and a way of felicitating that Nigeria is 55.
Which will you indulge in?

Politics / NHRC To Kayode: Describing Fulani Herdsmen As Tse-tse Fly Is A Hate Speech by XavierBlue(m): 12:30pm On Sep 30, 2015
Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on Wednesday, condemned erstwhile Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, over his recent widely circulated article titled:

‘The herdsmen from hell,’ where he (Fani-Kayode) described the suspected Fulani herdsmen, who recently kidnapped the former Secretary to Government of the Federation (SSG), Chief Olu Falae, as East African tse-tse fly, locust and leeches.

Fani-Kayode had in the article posted September 29, on his Facebook page, condemned the abduction of the elder statesman and June 12 struggle hero, Chief Falae, from his home-town, in Ondo State, by a group of Fulani herdsmen, stating that it was time to seriously consider the expulsion of all Fulani herdsmen from the southern part of Nigeria.

Read Fani-Kayode’s article here: http://www.vanguardngr.com/?p=565711
However, irked by the former minister’s article, Chairman of the NHRC, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu in a tweet via his official Twitter handle, @ chairmanNHRCsaid, eventhough Chief Falae’s abduction was a crime, to make that basis of a campaign against a race as done by Fani-Kayode is hate speech.

Odinkalu said: “Chief Olu Falae’s abduction is a crime, but to make that basis of a campaign against a race as Femi Fani-Kayode did is hate speech. It’s hate speech to leave individual responsibility and describe a race as tse-tse fly, locust, leeches, etc.

Celebrities / Incredible Photos: Meet Sexy Model Without Legs, Earns $1000 Daily by XavierBlue(m): 10:21am On Sep 28, 2015
Kanya Sesser, 23, defies traditional beauty standards by working as a model and hopes to prove that different is sexy. An aspiring model born without legs is earning more than $1,000 a day flaunting her toned body in racy underwear.

Stunning Kanya Sesser, 23, defies traditional beauty standards by working as a model, and hopes to prove that “different” is sexy.

From a young age the California girl was determined to overcome her disability and started modeling for sports brands at 15.
After shooting for a number of outlets — as well as being featured by Billabong — the beauty was soon scouted by underwear and bikini brands.

Now she combines her modeling career with motivational speaking and her love of sports — she’s currently training for the 2018 Winter Paralympics.

“I was mainly doing athletics shoots then as I got older I got into lingerie modeling,” said Sesser, who lives in Los Angeles.
“It’s something fun and it shows my story — I’m different and that is sexy, I don’t need legs to feel sexy.

“I enjoy making money from it and I love showing people what beauty can look like. These images show my strength.”

Politics / NLC Didnt Tell Saraki To Resign-wabba by XavierBlue(m): 7:12am On Sep 28, 2015
ABUJA – THE leadership of the organised labour has denied the report credited to the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, that the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who is facing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal over alleged false asset declaration should resign.

The factional President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba told newsmen in Abuja, Sunday, that the NLC, though fighting corruption, believed in the rule of law.

According to Wabba, as a law abiding institution, the labour movement believes in the rule of law and due process.

He said: “The NLC believes in the rule of law and we believe that whatever is right should be done. By our laws, the mere allegation that somebody has committed an offense, we don’t judge the person as guilty until it is pronounced by a court of law.

“To me that would be following due process and the rule of law than to midway begin to make pronouncement and criminalize people. I think what is right should be done rightly.

“I think those statements cannot be credited to us. You can consult the people that have issued those statements but certainly they are not from us. We believe in due process, we believe in the rule of law.

“We are championing the war against corruption, we also believe that we should follow due process in whatever we want to do. People should not be stampeded into making pronouncements on behalf of the NLC,” he said.

He said that the labour movement had well defined channels of making public comments on national issues, while also stating that the person who purportedly spoke on behalf of the union is not known to the NLC

Religion / 9 Types Of Pastor's In Nigeria by XavierBlue(m): 8:21am On Sep 27, 2015
Today, many lions and wolves roams the church in the pretense of being a man of God. Looking for prey to extort money from, abuse and even maim. I compiled a list of em below.

1. THE FUNKY PAST0R.

Lately, these set of pastor are becoming trending in our dear country, there are Worldly, carnal, ungodly pastors who watered down the gospel to please people.
They take advantage of people, women being their top targeted prey, immorality is the order of the day.

2. BUSINESSMEN PASTOR

These set of pastors are the kinds that seek the ministry simply because of revenue and money making. Much emphasis are laid on finance, prosperity etc as their top priority is making money. They function as the chief executive officers of their ministry and it being run with business principles.

3. THE ORATORS :

The vocational pastors are in the ministry not because God called them, they rather called themselves. The respect and honour accorded to men of God is what lured them in.
They posses great oratory power and verbosity, these great tools, they use to blindfold people.

4. OCCULTIC PASTORS:

Well! These are the people who have no business being in the ministry, but they are there all the same. Some are herbalist and magicians, or simply, they go to this evil forces to get their powers while some are quandom occultic members who claim to be born-again. With these powers, they convince the gullible nigerians to believe them.

5. POLITICAL PASTORS:

We all know them, their kinds were very much seen months ago during the election era. They were once servants of the Lord, but have now backslidden as they no longer have time to preach and nourish the sheep's of the lord, their time is spent running church campaign, meeting upon meetings.

6 . GROWING PASTORS

Rare species in this trying times, just like David, they are men after Gods heart. Called by God, commissioned by him. The ways of the world are not found in these great men of God as they posses truthfulness integrity and honesty, truly, these are the servant of God.

7. THE MINISTRY FOCUSED PASTORS:

Very committed to the ministry works, focused and determine. The work of God top their intenary and every other things appears secondary.
Their wives are lonely, bittered and not taken care of, offcourse with their children.

8. SICK PASTORS,

Physically fit but spiritually _retarded. They don't know their left from right and which path to thread, ungodly sinful and wicked.

9. TECHNOLOGY PASTORS:

City to city, nation to nation, making money from the gullible ones. These set uses laptops in replacements of the bible. Adorned with iphone and other latest technological appliances.
Don't get me wrong, am not saying they shouldn't use these equipments, No, afterall it aids quicken the work of God, but they tend to over use it. They sometimes preach from their homes, through social media eg skype, and fly around with luxuries private jet. And are proud owners of them. I no call person name o.

Politics / Ministerial Appointments: No Going Back On Sep 30- Presidency by XavierBlue(m): 1:05pm On Sep 26, 2015
ABUJA – Presidency has assured that the September 30 promise by President Mohammadu Buhari as deadline for the appointment of Ministers would be met.

The presidency spoke against the backdrop of a growing apprehension in the polity on the fact that it is only 5 days to the end of the month.

Of concern also was the current travails of the senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, which many Nigerians feared may make the deadline not feasible.

At the moment, the senate whose function it is to receive and screen the Minister nominees from the presidency is on vacation to resume on September 29, barley a day September 30.

But in an exclusive chat with the Senior Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on the issue recently, he stated that Nigerians needed not to worry as the deadline given by president Mohammadu Buhari to form his cabinet has not yet elapsed.

He said: “Time given has not yet elapsed and the president himself said of by September 30, there is no cabinet, you should come and ask him questions. That is it.”

It will be recalled that the president had in his visit to Ghana on September 7 told Journalists that he would unfailingly constitute his cabinet on or before the end of September.

“After I was sworn-in, I said I will have my cabinet in September. I expect that Nigerians should ask me questions after the 30th of September if I do not do so,” he said

Politics / Anti-saraki Forces Plans Mass Protest, Seeks His Romoval by XavierBlue(m): 6:44am On Sep 26, 2015
ABUJA- AHEAD of the resumption of Senate September 29, strong indications emerged yesterday that forces against the embattled Senate President,

Bukola Saraki are strateging on how to ensure that he leaves the position as number three citizen of the country.
Saturday Vanguard gathered yesterday that forces opposed to Saraki’s continued stay as Senate President have concluded plans to embark on what they termed, mass protests to drive home on whether he was moraly bound to continue in that office and the need for him to “resign honourably.”

According to a source, following the arraignment of Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal)CCT), some leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC have concluded plans to move the battle against him to the second stage, which would be carry out campaigns that was expected to catch like wild fire across the country, just as this was designed to weaken his public image and popularising the idea that there was the need for him to resign.

The source disclosed that the protests would be sustained until the resumed hearing of the CCT suit against Saraki on October 21.
It was also gathered that some groups of Protesters were already mobilized and would start their campaigns from Monday September 28, a day to the resumption of the Senate after a six week annual recess, just as this group was said to also be mobilising to ensure that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was removed.

Senate President Bukola Saraki is presently facing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT following a 13- count charge levelled against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, bordering on alleged corruption and false declaration of assets in 2003 and summoned him to appear before it on Friday.

But the President of the Senate through his lawyers, approached a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday to secure an exparte order to stop the tribunal proceedings. His Counsels actually got a ruling, summoning the Code of Code Bureau ( CCB), the Code of Conduct Tribunal, the Federal Ministry of Justice and Saraki himself to appear before it on Monday for hearing of the suit.

However, ignoring the order, the Code of Conduct Tribunal went ahead with Saraki’s trial, thereby resulting in the tribunal Chairman, Justice Danladi Umar ruling that no federal high court has any jurisdiction to stop the tribunal’s proceedings, claiming that Federal High Court and the Tribunal have coordinate jurisdiction.

The judge later issued warrant of arrest on Saraki for refusing to appear before it after two days of notification to that effect, just as Saraki’s counsels quickly moved to file an appeal against the ruling at the Federal Court of Appeal Abuja the same Friday.

But while answering questions from Journalists Monday, Senate President Saraki had vowed that he would appear at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT Tuesday to answer to issues raised by the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB and he actually appeared on Tuesday.

As part of moves to remove Saraki through s mass protest, a source disclosed that what happened at the Ilorin Prayer ground on Thursday when some persons led the attack on the Senate President and other dignitaries during the Eid prayers in the Kwara state capital was a rehearsal to the coming up protest.

It was also gathered that many of the protesters were to campaign on the grounds that Saraki’s continued occupation of the Chairmanship of the National Assembly and Senate Presidency would amount to a stain on the anti-corruption war embarked upon by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The source said, : “The real plan concerning the arraignment o Saraki was originally aimed at achieving two things. One was to enable him kept behind bars from Friday September 18, the first day the CCT suit was to hold and then pave the way for the Senators to remove him. The second was to orchestrate that campaign that his arraignment was bad enough for the anti-corruption war of the current government. But since Saraki did not appear before the CCT on September 18, the first leg was affected. Now the arraignment on September 22 has emboldened then to start the street campaign.”

According to the source, Senator Ekweremadu would come under special scrutiny to ensure he is also faced with threatening charges that would force him to resign, adding, “The target really is Ekweremadu. If he agrees to resign, it would be easier for Saraki to continue. But Saraki became the target when he refused to lift a finger when told that he should sacrifice his deputy.”

Politics / Eid-el-kabir: I Wasnt Stoned- Saraki by XavierBlue(m): 5:22pm On Sep 24, 2015
Following news reports that Nigeria’s senate president, Bukola Saraki, was attacked at the Eid Prayer Groundduring the prayers to mark the Eid-el-Kabir in Ilorin earlier today, Thursday, September 24, the embattled former governor has denied the reports.

Mr Saraki who spoke through his media office said he was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.

Saraki said he had earlier spoke with reporters at the prayer ground as he arrived in the company of the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ali Ahmad and a former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Alfa Belgore.

“We want to say that nothing can be further from the truth as the Senate President was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.

“We however observe that there was a protest allegedly staged by local government employees over purported non-payment of salaries which hoodlums attempted to hijacked but this development was immediately curtailed by security agents.

“Therefore, to say that the Senate President was attacked at the venue of the prayers is totally false and a figment of the imagination of those behind the story because the protest was never targeted at him, neither was any missile hurled at him,”the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has stated that majority of the workers in the state have received their salaries and that those yet to receive theirs will do so on Monday as Thursday and Friday of this week are public holidays.
