Hezbollah threatened to launch a rocket attack on Israel if United States intervenes in Syria’s civil war, according to Middle Eastern news outlets.

Israel Hayom reported:

Following a U.S. attack on Syria, Hezbollah would launch rockets at Israel from the Syrian city of Homs to “keep Lebanon out of the war,” according to one source who coordinates activities between the Syrian army and the Shiite terrorist group.

“Hezbollah controls 8,000 square kilometers [about 3,100 square miles] near Homs and won’t hesitate to engage in a response by launching surface-to-surface missiles from within Syria,” the source told Al Rai.

Iran's president-elect Hassan Rowhani has brushed off threats of military action against the Islamic republic by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying such warnings only made him "laugh", media reported Wednesday.
"When some (the United States and Israel) say that all options are on the table and when a miserable regional country (Israel) says such things, it makes you laugh," Rowhani said in an address to Iran-Iraq war veterans, according to Iranian media reports.
"Who are the Zionists to threaten us?" the moderate cleric said, insisting that warnings of an Iranian retaliation had stopped Israel from carrying out its threats to launch strikes on Iran.
Netanyahu on Sunday renewed his threat to take unilateral military action to halt Iran's nuclear programme, disparagingly referring to Rowhani as "a wolf in sheep's clothing" who would "smile and build a bomb".
"We're closer than the United States. We're more vulnerable. And therefore, we'll have to address this question of how to stop Iran, perhaps before the United States does," Netanyahu said on CBS News's "Face the Nation."
"They're edging up to the red line. They haven't crossed it yet," the Israeli premier said, referring to the point at which Iran would be able to make its first nuclear weapon.
"They're getting closer and closer to the bomb. And they have to be told in no uncertain terms that that will not be allowed to happen."
Israel is the Middle East's sole but undeclared nuclear power.
Iran for years has been at loggerheads with world powers over its nuclear drive, which Western nations and Israel believe is aimed at developing an atomic weapons capability. Tehran insists its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful.
Rowhani will succeed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as Iran's president on August 3.

Asiana Airlines says the pilot of a plane that crashed Saturday at San Francisco airport was still in training flying a Boeing 777, and was trying to land that type of aircraft at the site for the first time.

TheSouth Korea-based airline said Monday the pilot had 43 hours of experience in the 777, and more than 9,000 hours of flight time overall. A pilot more experienced with the aircraft was acting as a trainer and co-pilot on the flight.

U.S. investigators say it is too early to say what caused the crash, but that the plane was flying "significantly below" its target speed as it approached the runway and that the pilot tried to abort the landing.

National Transportation Safety Board chair Deborah Hersman said Sunday the verbal "abort" request came just 1.5 seconds before impact -- too late to avoid the crash that killed two people and injured dozens more.

Seconds earlier, she said, "engine stall" warnings sounded in the cockpit.

The two passengers killed were identified as 16-year-old Chinese girls who were among a group of 30 students and their teachers headed to a summer camp from east China's Zhejiang province.

The flight originated in Shanghai and stopped in South Korea before heading to San Francisco .

Witnesses say the plane's tail appeared to hit first as it sought to clear a sea wall at the base of the runway. After the crash, much of the cabin burned through and debris was scattered along the runway.

Asiana Airlines officials say there is no indication of mechanical problems with the plane or its engines at the time of the crash. The weather was clear as the plane made its approach.

Asiana is South Korea's second largest airline after national carrier Korean Air.
