A-29 is purpose built for close air support in low threat environment. If BHTs had the technology to bring it down, then our MI35m helicopters won't be carrying out sorties in the Northeast because they actually fly slower and certainly lower than the A-29.

The Afghans have been using this same platform against Taliban and ISIS for almost three years yet they haven't lost a single one against enemy fire. And Taliban is surely more deadlier and more sophisticated than BHTs.

USA is also considering fielding same platform.

The Super Tucano has been proven beyond reasonable doubts to be exactly what we currently need. All emotionally-bore criticism is unwarranted and pointless. This is s done deal, if you wail from now till next year nothing would change, so move on.

You guys are forgetting the most important tool against this problem which is intelligence gathering. As long as the dss simply continue their misplaced priorities and the nia and dni are sleeping, this problem isn't going to stop. We need to start gathering intelligence on the government itself. They have proved to be untrustworthy.

I don't understand why the Nigerian army havent placed an emphasis on border security and surveillance. You guys praising that super tucano don't know shit. We need aircraft purpose built for air support.

A10 warthog with its insane 30mm gau-8 avenger machine gun

Ah-64 and super hind attack helicopters

Fully armed Predator drones for 24/7 area monitoring, intelligence gathering and strike capabilities when the need arises

We need to upgrade our soldiers equipment. I rarely see these guys with manpads. And long range sniper rifles. Those would be effective against the terrorists and the soldiers would be able to hit them before they get dangerously close.

African values are low.

This is why a person will walk and spit mucus, throw rubbish, urinate and shit on the roadside. Is it religion that made an African do this?

Just the way Alan Turin, Ivan Pavlov and thousands of other great atheists who contributed more to humanity than you or any of your relative will ever do ended right?

One of the reasons I abandoned religion for reason is the idea of justice.
The idea of justice in religion is a joke. How can you say someone who did good all his entire life will end up in hell because he was born into the wrong religion.

Without religion (Christianity for instance) you cannot define good deed, as you adviced.

If not for Christianity, you could probably have been sold into slavery by not, may be to Jamaicans, or somewhere southern America, like say Peru...
Morality is beyond Christianity or any religion whatsoever. Our forefathers were good, moral and great people before the Abrahamic religion came to Nigeria.

Don't tell me the only reason you're not a criminal is because of your "fear of God".

And FYI, Christianity encouraged slavery.

If one-quarter of the world population believe in God and you call them foolish, then I don't mind being foolish
At a point in time almost all the people in the entire world believed the earth was flat. They didn't know better. They thought the sky as a sought of roof and believed a sky daddy watches over them all. He is a male, of course. He has huge ego, he is jealous and vengeful.
He determines when rain should fall and when drought should occur and host of other balderdash that can be better explained.

Now, as modern human we know so much. We have better explanation that would make people who believe in talking snake foolish. Definitely, people who believe that the earth is just 6,000 years, in face of overwhelming evidence that proved otherwise, are big idiots (note: according to the Bible the earth is around 6,000 years old). And people who believe the earth is flat are huge joke.

Someone posted this : I had a discussion with an Army officer posted to the North East

The young officer is tasked with protecting this nation from Boko Haram, he and his men could pay the ultimate price, this is why what he told me was important.

Somethings said I knew, others I did not, let me itemize what he told me

1. The Nigerian Army has no overall strategy to defeat Boko Haram He said there is no clear plan, just reactions.

2. The Chief of Army staff deployed lots of hardware to protect his village Brutai, this deployment is similar to Maiduguri. The strategy seems to be to counter and hold Boko Haram

3. The Chadian Army are better managers of equipment. He said the Chadian military has far older weapons but that they ensure everything is working. The task force they sent over is 100% mobile, but the Nigerian Army struggles to maintain Hilux Pickups talkless of modern tanks.

He said the Chadians were suprised at the poor state of our army, that they doubted our ability to defeat Boko Haram, the said Chadians dont run from battle when Boko Haram attacks but that the Nigerians do.

4. The bulk of Boko Haram Haram weapons are captured from the Nigerian Army. He said the NA will declare trucks or Artillery as unservicable but Boko Haram will capture same assets and get then to work.

5. There are sufficient arms delivered to the NA. He said before he got to his post he read about "lack of arms" but found out that was not true....the army had lots of arms but did not know how to maintain or deploy them

6. There is zero air cover. I asked him about the attack helicopters, he said they were grounded. He said Nigerian Army preferred the Niger Airforce (not Nigerian) and Chadian Airforce to conduct close strike Air to Surface operations because the have better and dedicated ground attack planes like the Sukhoi flown by Eastern Europeans.

7. He said the recruits coming out of training to join the Nigerian Army are sub par training and standards have really fallen.

8. Many Forward Operations Bases have been overan by Boko Haram. The Nigerian Army has been forced to destroy their own equipment as they flee, including our modern T72 tanks

9. He says money or even equipment is not the problem, he says there is no leadership of purpose and that many military men are "breaking protocol" just to survive

I think we get the picture. I am just posting this with the hope that something good will come out of this.

Boko Haram has exposed Nigeria.

Please pray for all our soldiers fighting Boko
Prayers won't stop our problems.
The army leadership needs to fight the terrorists as if they were an invading country trying to kill our people, loot our resources and take over the land.
We need to have a time frame that this war must last otherwise it will never end...

Unfortunately, with the senile mitch we currently have in Aso Rock nothing is going to change. He is not even pressuring the army leadership to deliver because HE KNOWS NOTHING!

This particular MRAP (ARA 11) was made by PROFORCE not the NA though the NA had input.
the recent IFVs and LTIV that were displayed by the NA are IMHO still can be regarded as prototypes and like the ARA will be improved upon with time and eventually I expect the manufacturing will be handed of to a private company.
I wasn't talking about Proforce products. I was talking about the ones made by NA.

If you ask me I would say Nigerian army has no business making vehicles. Rather, they should state the specifications they want and allow different companies across Nigeria to bid for the project. Although, Nigerian army can assist this contractors with R&D materials so as to enable them do a better job.

However, if Nigerian army insist on making their vehicle themselves it should be a collaboration between DICON and other private companies not Nigerian army going in on it alone.

Ask the so called brilliant atheist to create the sun and moon, I will humbly drop my faith and follow them.
I don't intend to turn this important thread into a religious-mudslinging battleground but there are lot of issues wrong with your posts and I feel I have to address it.

Hardworking, luck and in the case of Nigeria, who you know, determine how far you go in life. It has nothing to do with prayers.

If it were all about prayers Nigeria won't be in the current mess we currently are in. Nigeria has the highest number of poverty stricken people in the world, how do you reconcile that with the number of religious houses and so called men of God that are all over the country.

In fact, it is pertinent to educate the future generations that prayers don't get answered but only hardworking, perseverance and luck that change societies.
