In 1978, under the leadership of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, the system of open reform was initiated, and since then, generations of Chinese leaders have been firmly committed to the policy, turning China into a vibrant economy so much so that it’s now the second largest economy. The West offshored manufacturing to China for capitalist exploitation - cheap labour. Western companies didn’t set up shops in China because they were benevolent towards China. No! They did it to make huge profits. And that’s why a pair of Nike trainers made in Putian for less than $20 is sold in the West for ten times their production cost. Is it China’s fault that Western companies choose it as one of the top FDI destinations? No! Western corporations in making a kill through their collaboration with China. So this brings me to an interesting question which I hope you’d answer. Considering Nigeria is a democratic state with democratic values (at least on paper); with a closer proximity to the West than China is; and with the largest population in Africa, why didn’t they offshore production to Nigeria like they did to China?

With regards to Nigeria, everyone knows it is a rich country (at least on paper). However the realities on ground are different. The average Nigerian is poor lacking the most basic amenities. We lack good roads, public schools, housing, electricity, critical infrastructures, hospitals etc. Worse is Nigeria does not even refine it’s our crude - something we have in abundance! No be juju be that? China has more functioning refineries that Nigeria! If you have ever been outside of Nigeria to some African countries you’d understand how greedy, rudderless and wicked our leaders are. Nigeria is my country, and I want the best for her. But should that stop me from being honest about the shameful state of Nigeria? No!

Your points are valid, but believe you me it’s the same everywhere except in Africa. I’m inclined to believe the Russians also portray America and the west as villains and evil in their movies. The same way Hollywood portray blacks most times as drug dealers, pimps, or the stereotypical entertainers, athletes or a struggling family grappling with life’s challenges; rarely are we portrayed as the people saving humanity. Arabs as terrorists scheming to unleash bombs in high density cities; or hijacking a plane or something. Russians as hackers, spies etc. Chinese / Asians as chefs, betrayers, stealers of trade secrets etc. Currently on various Chinese social media platforms, blacks (people of colour) are subjected to blatant racist comments for simply being black. Biracial kids are not spared from such nasty racist comments. The Chinese would say black people sell drugs, are carriers of HIV, and are generally mischievous. For someone living in Port Harcourt, to go to Lagos, they would have to fly there and back book hotel at least 2 nights, eat, Do you or can you imagine how much that cost? Your flight Tkt and accommodation will set you back nearly N200k plus. However now you can stroll in stroll out.
TSL office would lose at least 60% of its customers in Lagos and all those fancy Eateries i n front of it will lose customers too, while new Biz will bounce up in Abba road. I know that area, where presidential Hotel is, its already full of ABokis etc

I totally agree from an economic point of view, and the positive trickling effects the visa centre would have on small business owners. But we all know at the end of the day this new visa centre is a cash cow for the UK govt.

I can't sleep, even if i eventually do, i can't stay asleep, for example if i sleep by 2am, i will wake up by 4am and thats it for that night.
It has been going on for months now, and i hardly sleep in the afternoon too..
If you observe when i made this post, I slept around 3am because today is my birthday, i was answering calls and chats from well wishers, now i am up again around 5, thats why i made this post, i am fed up...

Please can you guys suggest a very strong sleeping tablet for me? I really need to sleep and stay asleep, i mean lock everywhere up, eat, take the tablet and sleep a very deep sleep, a kind of sleep that i will not know what is happening around...

Nigeria! Another life wasted by God knows who! Criminals commit heinous crimes and often evade justice because Nigeria is a highly disorganized country. If our leaders really care about the lives, wellbeing and properties of Nigerians, three very important factors should be addressed.

1: The government should ensure there’s a database of all Nigerians through the registration and issuance of national identification numbers, and national identity cards. China has a population of about 1.4 billion yet every citizen has their own unique identification number. When children are born, they feet prints are taken by the police station located with the hospital, and before they’re discharged from the hospital, they fingerprints are collected and used to generate their unique identity numbers.

2: The government should ensure every city, town and village has CCTV functional and efficient monitoring cameras. There’s hardly a spot or alleyway in China that isn’t covered by CCTV cameras in spite of its huge geographical size.

3: The police should be sufficiently equipped to fight crime. They should be paid salaries commensurate with their duties. Na person wey chop bellyful dey pursue thief!

These are my humble suggestions.
