Education › Re: To Flog Or NOT To Flog A Child... by xpac01(m): 11:33pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
I believe the rod should be made for correction and not as a tool for venting of anger on a younger one. When a child is been flogged, we need to expressly let the child know why he/she is being strapped with the rod. Also more importantly while doing this, let's mind the words used, cos, words has the power to destroy a child confidence forever. Words like, you are a 'stupid, hopeless child' is no no. This has made me withdraw my cousin brother from a school. The rod can be good and bad all that matters is the words and intent backing the usage. Please lets use the rod with love. Tank. |

Politics › Re: The Outrageous Cost Of Education In Enugu State by xpac01(m): 5:11pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
emirate22: Enugu is an important city of historical importance to Nigeria and Ndigbo in particular and their is no need making this article lenghty, by devlving into the historical importancy of this city.It is important to note that this city has played important role in the educational development many prominent Nigerians. It is however, unfortunate and dis-heartening that the present crop of leadership in Enugu, under Sullivan Chime, through its insensitivity to the economic situation of most Enugu people, has made it very difficult for an average parent to send their children to school, especially tertially institutions. A good look at the management of the university and politechnic, shows that the government is more interested in financial exploitation of student than improving the study environment or quality of education given in this schools. It is worthy to note that the tuition as at 2007,when Dr Nnamani was leaving office was 30000K for the state university and 17000k for the state politechnic.I cant say that the quality of education then was better, but I can say without fear of being corrected that the academic calender was stable and there was no disruptions to academic activities,as we witnessed under the present dispensation. The school fees have also increased to a minimum of 175000k to 70000k for both institutions. If a poor state like Ekiti can charge 50000k,which was recently reduced to 20000k by the state governor, why then should Enugu indigenes be made to go through hell to get tertiary education.Of course, the consequencies of this inhuman educational policy is the increasing level of social malaise such as:cultism, prostitution, armed robbery and other sumdry criminal activities in the state. Why the general public, the students union government, the students, parents and other stakeholders kept mute over these astronomical increases within a short period of have remained a surprised to concerned observers. 2015 is around the corner and it is expected that the electorates will use the opportunities to identify candidate that will help them in meeting their needs, especially their educational needs.Education is vital to life and we must all work together to ensure that no segment of our society is denied this basic right, because of their economic or social status in our society. I wonder if you have ever created a topic on the good infrasture being installed in the state which stands out among all eastern states combined. Look i know you want to 'call a spade a spade' but must you start comparing the present and former tenure? Am not from Enugu but i hear how outstanding Chime's rigim has been so far in the whole east. Why not try to balance your misgiving about the guys higher institution fees inflation... |

nairalife2013: fantasies? Why waste life over fantasies in such great numbers, even if it was one victim. I believe if the relevant things are conceded, like adopting sharia, the killings will reduce or stop. I mean, for bokoharam to be accorded all those aims you mentioned, will be just FANTAsy. They will only see it in their dreams worlds but never in a nation comprising of many religions. Now you also think those issues are relevant? No my brother. Its never pivotal for our development as a people. All we need is love. So someone should tell those guys to wake up and drop their weapons. |
