Abdulmumuni Danga, the Commissioner for Water Resources in Kogi State, has been charged to court for alleged raped and brutality.

The charges against Danga for alleged rape and brutalisation of one Elizabeth Oyeniyi in Lokoja, Kogi State, was perfected by the police in Abuja.

The police, in a seven-count criminal charge filed against the Commissioner alongside one Success Omadivi, 35, at a Federal High Court in the Abuja Judicial Division, accused him of rape and brutality among others.

A Nigerian medical doctor identified as Abimbola Bamgbose has died after allegedly undergoing plastic surgery in Turkey.

Her friends and family took to Facebook to mourn her death.

However, some claims began circulating that she had gone for cosmetic surgery without the knowledge of her family, adding that she lied to her husband that she was travelling for shopping.

The Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had re-arraigned the Chief Executive Officer of Complete Care and Aid Foundation, Aisha Alkali Wakil, popularly known as Mama Boko Haram.

Mama Boko Haram was said to have been re-arraigned on Tuesday before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri, on amended four counts bordering on conspiracy, giving false information, and cheating to the tune of N6 million.

Clement Akor, a suspected cannabis farmer, has cried out and pleaded with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEAto take his life rather than destroy his 10-hectare cannabis plantation.

Frank Kokori, former secretary-general of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has accused ex-President Goodluck Jonathan of failing to create a path for the emergence of an Igbo president.

The Supreme Court, on Monday, upheld the re-election of Yahaya Bello of Governor of Kogi State.

The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Musa Wada, which was filed to challenge the outcome of the gubernatorial election that held in the state on November 16, 2019.

In a unanimous judgment, the court’s seven-man panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko, dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Musa Wada.

The Federal Government has rescheduled the resumption of international flights earlier slated for August 27 to September 5.
The postponement of international flights was announced on Thursday by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Recall that the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, announced that international flights will resume operation on August 29.

Dr Jen Gunter, author of The Vagina Bible, warned against waxing or shaving pubic hair because it can cause “microscopic trauma” that can lead to infections.

A former bank staff, Oluwafemi Raji and two others on Wednesday appeared in an Ile-Ife Magistrates ‘ Court over alleged attempt to steal N1.3 million, belonging to customers.
The police charged Raji, 27, alongside Dupe Lawal, 27 and Blessing Akintade, 24 with two counts of conspiracy and attempt to commit felony.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug 18, 2020 around 12.05 p.m. at the Access Diamond Bank, Lagere, Ile-Ife.

An unarmed black man (Jacob Blake) was yesterday shot in the back seven times by a white police officer in front of his children after Wisconsin police were called to a domestic dispute.
The man identified as 29 year-old Jacob Blake, was airlifted to a Milwaukee hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition.

The shooting in Kenosha caused residents to gather and confront the officer at the scene on Sunday night.

A female political activist and doctor who led local anti-government protests was shot dead in the Iraqi city of Basra on Wednesday August 19.
Riham Yacoub, a 29-year-old anti-government activist and nutritionist who ran a women’s gym in the southern city, was killed on Wednesday evening after unknown gunmen on the back of a motorcycle opened fire on her car with an assault rifle. Three companions were also injured.

Her death comes less than a week after the assassination of another Basra activist, Tahseen Osama, who was killed on Friday. Two other prominent activists in the city, Lodia Raymond and Abbas Sobhi, survived an assassination attempt on Monday, with the latter being hospitalised after being shot in the chest.

Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi dismissed Basra’s chief of police and other security officials in response.

One of the relationships considered to be real among the 2020 lockdown housemates took another drama. Last night, Big Brother Naija housemate, Nengi Rebecca Hampson, bluntly told Ozo not to mistake their closeness in the house for a “relationship”.

Three teenagers have been arrested by men of the Katsina state police command for allegedly gang-raping and drowning a 13-year-old girl to death in a pond in the state on August 14.
Spokesperson of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, who paraded the teenagers before newsmen, said the suspects were aged between 15 and 16.

“On Friday 14th 2020 around 3:45pm, based on the tip off, the command succeeded in arresting the trio.

All from Danmusa town, they allegedly conspired, attacked and gang raped a 13-year-old girl from Dutsen-Dadi village in Danmusa Local Government Area in their farmland on August 14, 2020.

The suspects are Mubarak Lawan 16, Anas Ibrahim, 15 and Aliyu Mika, 15; all from Danmusa local government,” he said

Oil prices rose on Monday as China’s plans to ship in large volumes of U.S. crude in August and September outweighed concerns over a slowdown in demand recovery after the coronavirus pandemic and an uptick in supplies.
Brent crude added 30 cents, or 0.7 per cent to $45.10 a barrel by 0410 GMT while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up 34 cents, or 0.8 per cent to $42.35 a barrel.

Chinese state-owned oil firms have tentatively booked tankers to transport at least 20 million barrels of U.S. crude for August and September, Reuters reported on Friday.

This is as China ramped up energy and farm purchases ahead of a review of the Sino-U.S. trade deal. Record crude imports from the world’s top importer and the easing of COVID-19 restrictions globally have supported oil prices.

Although new waves of coronavirus outbreaks in several countries are expected to cool consumption again.

“Oil demand data was largely positive last week, with U.S. implied gasoline demand rising to just 3.5 per cent away from pre-coronavirus levels and China’s processed crude oil figure in July at a record high,’’ said Howie Lee, an economist at Singapore’s OCBC bank.

A former Presidential aspirant and former Deputy Central Bank governor, Obadiah Mailafia, has been invited by the DSS over his claims on Boko Haram.
The former presidential aspirant will meet with the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, after he recently claimed that a Nigerian Governor was a major sponsor of the Boko Haram Terrorists group.

In a radio interview on Monday, August 10, 2020, Mailafia claimed he had an intelligence report that a state governor is a commander of Boko Haram, adding that he got the information from talking to some former fighters of the terrorist group.

The former presidential aspirant also claimed that Boko Haram is planning an invasion of the southern region in a bid to trigger a second civil war.

A couple is facing first-degree murder charges after police say they lured a woman into their home, beat her, raped her and left her for dead.
52-year-old Sean Finnegan and his 22-year-old girlfriend Rebecca Dishman have been charged with the murder of Jennifer Gail Paxton after her body was found dismembered in a freezer on August 6.

The couple who are accused of kidnapping, torturing, sexually assaulting and murdering the woman they initially offered a place to stay, have both been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Finnegan also faces aggravated rape and abuse of a corpse charges while Dishman faces aggravated sexual battery and tampering with evidence charges.

Arrest warrants obtained by local station WATE revealed that the couple lured Paxton who was homeless, to their home in December 2019 by promising her a safe place to stay. They however held the 36-year-old against her will, chained her to a bed, shackled her with a dog collar and binded her arms with zip ties.

The Kano Council of Ulamas, on Monday, rejected a proposal by the Kano State House of Assembly that rapists should be castrated.
The Islamic scholars in Kano under the aegis, Council of Ulamas, have kicked against the decision made by state As­sembly for the castration punishment for the offense of rape in the state.

The state House of Assembly had on July 15, adopted the proposal for the castration of confirmed rapists following a motion sponsored by a member, Mr Nuraddeen Alhassan.

However, in a statement released by the Islamic scholars chairman Sheik Ibrahim Khalil and made available to newsmen in Kano, the Islamic scholars argued that the punishment of castration for rape is against the teaching of Islam. According to the Islamic scholars, the lawmakers need to go back and bring out Old Kano Sharia Law, which states the punishment for rapists.

Islamic scholars stated that there is punishment in the law for rape offenders and adulterers, which are all major sins in Islam.

Sheik Ibrahim Khalil said the Council of Ulama will visit Kano State House of Assembly to interact with the members on the matter.
