Governor Rochas Okorocha handed $25,000 (over N9 million) cash to Miracle, in the event in which Mrs Uloma Nwosu made the presentation on behalf of Rochas Foundation. The money is reportedly meant for Miracle’s provisional admission as a student pilot abroad.

Okorocha also promised to give the Big Brother Naija winner, Miracle a plot of land in any location of his choice to enable him to build his own house.

President Emmanuel Macron of France conferred France’s highest national honour of Commander of the Legion of Honour on Globacom Chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga, Jr on Wednesday in Lagos.

Mr Macron bestowed the prestigious award on Dr Adenuga at the new Alliance Francaise Mike Adenuga Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Explaining why the French Government decided to confer the country’s highest honour on Adenuga, President Macron said the legendary business guru is “a true role model for Africa” who has contributed immensely to the growth of African and French economy.
Dr. Adenuga thus becomes the first Nigerian to be decorated with the award of Commander of the Legion of honour, a promotion from his previous honour as Chevalier(Knight) of the Legion of honour awarded to him in 2017.

According to the French Embassy, it takes 13 years to be promoted from Chevalier to Commander, but this higher order for Adenuga has happened in 8 months.
President Macron applauded Dr Adenuga on his promotion of the French language and culture in Nigeria, and also commended Bella Disu, Chief Adenuga’s daughter who conceived, coordinated and executed the Alliance Française project.

The French Ambassador, Denys Gauer, congratulated Dr. Adenuga, saying that ”his outstanding entrepreneurship and business ingenuity has today created so many jobs for Nigerians and, more importantly, value for the country.”

Mikel Obi revealed that his abductors demanded a ransom of N10 million before the operatives acting on intelligence information assisted in rescuing the two men unhurt.

Vusi passed away in a private hospital in Johannesburg on Sunday, after a short illness.

Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma is the youngest of five children born to the ANC leader and Kate Mantsho‚ who committed suicide. He is believed to have been born in 1993.

No fewer than 10 perons died at the weekend in two attacks in Plateau State.
The attacks in Mangu and Barkin Ladi local governments have forced the special military task force Operation Safe Haven to move its headquarters to Barkin Ladi to end the killings.

Six persons died in the Saturday night attack in Mangu. Four died early yesterday in the Barkin Ladi incident.

The attacks followed those of June 23 when scores died.


Confirming the continuous killings despite the curfew and heavy military presence, the media officer of the task force, Major Adam Umar, said: “The OPSH notes with dismay the continued attitude of some criminals in the state that are bent on making the state ungovernable through some unwarranted attacks on some communities and innocent villagers despite the tireless efforts of the task force.

“We regret to say that about 0300 hours Sunday morning of 1st July, our men at Dorowa received a distress call from a resident of Mararaban Kantoma of Barkin Ladi Local Government that they were under attack by some armed bandits.

“On receiving the distress call, our men mobilised to the scene immediately to repel the attackers. The assailants who were given hot chase by our men escaped with various degrees of injuries while four of them were arrested.

“However, It is regrettable that before our men could get to the scene of the attack, four persons had already been killed by the attackers.

“Consequently, in its avowed commitment to ensuring that the renewed attacks are promptly brought to an end, the commander of the task force, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, has relocated the headquarters of the task force from Jos to Barkin Ladi.

“The Commander has also relocated with all his principal officers to the epicenter of the renewed attacks. To this end, the commander will be coordinating the day-to-day running of the task force from the new operational headquarters in Barkin Ladi.

“We wish to call on citizens of the state especially the residents of Barkin Ladi Local Government, to continue to have faith in the operations. We are fully on ground to continue to discharge our duties of protecting everybody in the state and we remain resolute to achieving our mandate in the state.

“We therefore use this opportunity to warn any criminal making or planning to make life miserable for innocent citizens to desist from the act forthwith.”

Nigerians have been tragically overwhelmed by the frequency of accident reports in the past 30 days . From the Ojuelegba bridge accident to the Otedola bridge fire tanker incident, the Cross River tanker crash and others .

Another accident involving no fewer than 10 people dead has been reported on the Kaduna-Kano Expressway on Saturday.

The accident occurred near the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State, around 5.30am.

The state Head of Public Enlightenment, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Idris Yahaya, confirmed the incident in a statement saying; “The accident involved three vehicles: a luxury bus, marked GDD361YE, a car, marked SGR57XA, and an articulated vehicle, marked LND246XE. “There were 48 persons in the three vehicles. Nine people were burnt to death and one woman died in the hospital, while 31 persons were injured.

“The driver of the luxury bus is receiving treatment at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria.” The FRSC commander said the injured persons were also receiving treatment at ABUTH, while the bodies of the dead had been deposited at the same hospital.

A female corps member posted to Bayelsa State for her NYSC, is now under intensive care as Doctors are battling to save her life following her ordeal in the hands of robbers.

Newtelegraph reports invaded the ‘Corpers Lodge’ at Yenizue Gene, a suburb of Yenagoa, about 3a.m. yesterday and the corps member was reportedly assaulted and raped by a 15-man gang of robbers.

According to a resident of the community, the hoodlums went to the NYSC Corpers Lodge where they forcibly took away a female corps member and she was repeatedly raped by the suspects who took her in turns.

The police were alerted, there was little they could do because the area had been thrown into darkness due to lack of electricity. A vigilante, who gave his name simply as Tonye, said the security men were afraid of running into an ambush.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Asinim Butswat, who was contacted by newsmen however said he had not got a clear information about the incident.

A six year old boy has been reportedly electrocuted at the Murtala Amusement Park located in Minna, Niger state during the Sallah day celebration.

The child, whose identity remains unknown, was said to have been electrocuted when he unknowingly stepped on some of the naked wires close to one of the abandoned car rail track section which was filled with water, Vanguard reports.


The water polled as a result of heavy rainfall on Saturday night. Eyewitnesses disclosed that after the incident occurred, there was no attempt by the management to administer first aid to the boy and he was left for some minutes while the organizers and management traded blames.

However, after about twenty minutes, he was rushed to the hospital, however, it could not be ascertained if he was dead or in shock.
Efforts to speak to the organizers of the Sallah Children show was rebuffed as the Chief Organizer claimed to be too busy to answer questions while one of the assistants blamed the kids for digging up wires all over, not minding the danger involved.

However, eyewitnesses blamed the management of the Park of negligence stating that it was obvious that the management and the organizers of the event were only concerned with the financial gains rather than the welfare of the people.

“Taking a look round the entire ground, one would see uncountable naked live wires displayed on the surface of the ground with just masking tapes coiled round them as protection agents. Despite that rain fell, they did not make any move to prevent children from playing there “, an eyewitness said.
