Former French footballer, Thierry Henry has been appointed to manage his ex club, AS Monaco.
The 41-year-old will take his first steps into club management where he began his professional career and has signed a three-year contract.

“In the first place, I thank AS Monaco for giving me the opportunity to coach the team of this club which is so special to me.

“I am very happy to come back to AS Monaco and extremely determined to meet the challenges ahead.

“I can not wait to meet the players to start working together,” he said.

Vadim Vasilyev, Monaco’s vice president, has already waxed lyrical about the appointment, made after the sacking of Leonardo Jardim earlier this week.

“His knowledge of football, his passion for the game, his high standards and his commitment to our colours make his nomination a reality.

A 43-year-old suspect was paraded on Wednesday by The Nigeria Police for making scary threats asking former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to either withdraw from the 2019 presidential race or have his plane blown up mid-air.

According to police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, Deputy Commissioner of Police, the suspect named Augustus Akpan, allegedly used a stolen phone to explicitly threaten the wife and daughters of the former Vice President with r-pe.

Akpan, who hails from Edemaya village, Ikot Abasi LGA, Akwa Ibom State, was arrested while fleeing to Lagos after he was said to have extorted huge sums of naira and foreign currencies from unnamed high profile citizens, with false claims of being a U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) operative.


The police spokesman further said the suspect, who speaks fluent English, Ibibio, Russian and Portuguese languages, is to remain in police custody until investigations are concluded and he is arraigned in court.

Now a female student of the Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University (COOU), Ezinne Okeke, has received award as the best student in creative advertising in the 2018 session.

Okeke was given 18 cups of beans, pawpaw and one yam tuber as prize for the award, including a certificate of excellence. She led a team that produced an outstanding poster on a fruit juice brand which was selected as the best by a number of judges who assessed a creative advert competition involving 150 students.

Okeke was the creative concept originator in her team, making her outstanding amongst others. Okeke was honoured with 21 other students who distinguished themselves in the creative advert competition.

Nollywood actor Gentle Jack will be the third actor in recent time revealing producers can't afford him. First, it was Omotola, followed by Jim Iyke, now Gentle Jack.

In a recent interview with Sunday Scoop, Gentle Jack expressed his displeasure with the neglect of action movies, which happen to be his area of specialty.
Speaking on social media, the actor said there was no time he stopped acting. According to him, cable stations have refused to broadcast action movies like they show other movies.

According to Gentle Jack, since he made the observation, he was yet to see any improvement.

He said, “I am an action hero and I have a passion for epic movies. Since I voiced out, the feedback has been poor. It is only a few people who responded. I am not the only person involved; it has also affected many of my colleagues who do action movies.”


While saying that he could play any role as an actor, he stated that he had a preference for action movies. He said, “As an actor, I am versatile. Recently, I shot a comedy movie with Wale Adenuga Production titled, Knockout. I can be involved in all kinds of movies including comedy, romance and adventure stories. But I have a passion for action or epic movies.”

Gentle Jack also revealed that he relocated to Port Harcourt about three years ago as he had been living in Lagos since he was born.

He said, “Moving to Port Harcourt has not affected my acting career. If you are looking for me, you can always call me. But most times, producers find it hard to pay me; so, they look for cheaper options. One thing they don’t understand is that no one can be like Gentle Jack.

The teenage victim who was a student at the Down Syndrome Foundation, Surulere, was defiled by her teacher more than once

Punch Metro gathered that the victim was a student at the Down Syndrome Foundation, Surulere, where Kabiru was a teacher.

The 29-year-old allegedly had sex with her in the school toilet.

The victim said, “One day, I was inside the toilet when Brother Kabiru came to meet me and he used his eyes to tell me to keep quiet. He removed his shirt and trousers and also removed my clothes and did it inside the school and the second one was in the male hostel.”


The suspect was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on two counts of defilement.

The charges read in part “That you, Wasiu Kabiru, between June and August 2018, being a class teacher at Down Syndrome Foundation on Adegoke Street, Masha Road, Surulere, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the victim, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 216 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, remanded the suspect in custody and adjourned till October 22, 2018.

Nigerian comedian, Asiri Comedy, revealed in a new interview with Punch that playing pranks made him wet bed till SS3.

It was alleged that Kemi Adeosun had resigned under pressure over controversies surrounding her NYSC certificate, but The Finance Minister remained in office today amidst reports of her resignation.

There was anxiety at the ministry as journalists thronged to confirm the authenticity of the alleged resignation.

At about 12 noon, journalists started trooping into the ministry to confirm the story, but all staff of the minister were seen around her office going about their duties saying that “another round of fake news” was circulating.

Serena Williams accusses official of sexism in US Open defeat to Japan-born tennis player, Naomi Osaka.

It was a final filled with anger, tension, accusations, boos and tears that overshadowed Naomi Osaka's remarkable US open final victory against her childhood female tennis idol, Serena Williams.

Osaka is a rising star who became the first tennis player born in Japan to win a Grand Slam championship, defeating Williams, 6-2, 6-4, in the women’s final of the United States Open on Saturday, making Williams unable to achieve a record-tying 24th major singles title.

But the match will long be remembered for a series of confrontations between Williams and Carlos Ramos, the match’s chair umpire, who issued three penalties against Williams in the second set, after Osaka had established her dominance.

Early in the second set, chair umpire Carlos Ramos issued Williams a warning for what he judged to be illegal coaching from the stands by her coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Williams vehemently denied the charge and pleaded with Ramos, saying, “I don’t cheat to win. I’d rather lose.”

The moment seemed to ignite Williams, who went on to take a 3-1 advantage in the second set. Back-to-back double faults in the fifth game killed her momentum, however, and Williams smashed her racket in frustration after losing the game. Ramos issued a code violation and point penalty against Williams, and boos filled Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Later in the set, during a changeover, Williams vented once again at Ramos.

“You owe me an apology,” she said, standing before the chair. “I have never cheated in my life. I have a daughter and I stand for what’s right for her. I’ve never cheated, and you owe me an apology … You will never, ever, ever be on another court of mine as long as you live. You are the liar. When are you going to give me my apology? You owe me an apology. Say it. Say you’re sorry. … And you stole a point from me. You’re a thief, too!” Ramos responded by issuing yet another code violation, her third, which resulted in a game penalty, putting Osaka up 5-3 in the final set and within one game of winning the match."

Osaka deserved to win her first Grand Slam under better circumstances. Instead, she looked stricken getting trophy as Serena asked them not to boo.
