Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode who has lashed out hundreds of critical articles and social media comments against President Muhammadu Buhari has commended him for apologizing to the family of Moshood Kashimawo Abiola over his maltreatment and death, on behalf of the country.

It would be recalled that the June 12, 1993 election was annulled by the military junta spearheaded by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd).

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) in a statement have declared that instead of suing Falz to court, they would instead report him to appropriate agencies.

Recall that the Muslim group had threatened to sue Falz if he did not take the video down and tender an apology
Falz declined to accede to their demands and MURIC have now decided to move forward with a course of action.

Their statement reads:
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) last week resolved to sue Folarin Falana (Falz the Bahd Guy), a Nigerian artist, who produced the video song titled ‘This is Nigeria’ in which a Fulani man was seen beheading somebody.

The video also featured hijab-wearing female choreographers dancing the ‘shaku-shaku’ (a dance associated with drug). A seven-day ultimatum was given for the withdrawal of the video and an apology failing which a legal tussle would be launched.
Our office has since been inundated with solidarity visits, while our telephone lines have been flooded with a deluge of calls from members, friends, well-wishers, journalists and other concerned Nigerians, majority of whom are of the Islamic faith.

In view of the intervention of these well-meaning Nigerians, counseling from several quarters and commitments given by us to those who interfaced with us on this matter, an emergency meeting of MURIC’s Think-Tank was convened on Sunday, June 10, 2018 to review the situation.

In deference to pleas made by well-meaning Nigerians, in order to keep faith with our avowed motto (Dialogue, Not Violence) and to further confirm that MURIC is a listening, mature and responsible organization committed to promoting peace in Nigeria, the Think-Tank resolved to drag the artist to government agencies saddled with the responsibility of censoring films and videos. It is not a U-turn but a sudden change in tactics.

This will have a more enduring impact not only on Falz but the entire entertainment industry .

Nigerian Reggae icon, Ras Kimono is dead. He died in the early hours of sunday morning at the age of 60.

Ras Kimono who reportedly took ill on Saturday night and rushed to a Lagos hospital was said to have concluded plans to travel to the United States last night for treatment .

He was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, where he was later taken to Lagoon Hospital on the Island where he died.

The reggae star celebrated his 60th birthday last month at Ikeja.

The pictures show the woman confirming and placing her bets in the bet shop. This is a odd because women are not usually found in bet shops across the country, not to imagine a woman who has just given birth.

It has been reported that many residents of Owerri, Imo state capital trooped out with their buckets and gallons this morning after a tanker carrying Kerosene product fell down along Port-Harcourt road.

Apparently not caring for their own lives, the residents came out to scoop the kerosene which was spilled all over the ground following the accident.

However, a timely intervention by the Commissioner of Public Safety, his team, the Fire Service Men and Police, helped to bring back sanity to the area.
With their assistance, the area was cordoned off to avoid any tragedy resulting from the surge of people scooping the product.

The emergency officials evacuated the spilled products and controlled the crowd of residents.

Nigeria has been ranked the 16th least peaceful country in the world, according to the 2018 edition of Global Peace Index, GPI.

The report, released yesterday, ranked Nigeria 148 out of the total 163 countries surveyed.

Iceland is the most peaceful country, closely followed by New Zealand and Austria while Syria is ranked least peaceful, coming after Afghanistan and South Sudan respectively.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday announced that Democracy Day will henceforth be celebrated on June 12 to honour late MKO Abiola.

“Dear Nigerians, I am delighted to announce that, after due consultations, the Federal Government has decided that henceforth, June 12 will be celebrated as Democracy Day.

13 Nigerians and a Filipino accomplice allegedly behind an “online scamming syndicate” that victimized Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other nationalities have been arrested by The Philippines police during raids conducted overnight in Imus City in Cavite province on Sunday.

Imus City police chief Supt. Audi Madrideo said members of what he described as an “online syndicate” would create fraudulent Facebook accounts, with stolen photos and profiles, and pose as members of the United States military.

Emmanuel Nnandi, one of the alleged group leaders, was arrested in an entrapment operation around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, in a money transfer outlet in Barangay (village) Tanzang Luma 2.

Nnandi led authorities to other members of the group who were consequently collared from three apartments. Police found out that the Nigerians had entered the country using student visas.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has asked the Nigeria Police Force to henceforth arrest defaulters of the ban on tobacco products including Shisha.

The Health Minister gave the directive at a press conference in Abuja to mark the 2018 World No-Tobacco Day today June 4th.

“Let me stress that the ban on tobacco products with characterising flavours is still in place and the ban includes shisha because it has flavour. I, therefore, urge the Consumer Protection Council and the law enforcement agencies to intensify arrest of defaulters.” he said .

According to the British Heart Foundation, Shisha smoking is a way of smoking tobacco, sometimes mixed with fruit or molasses sugar, through a bowl and hose or tube.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Edgal Imohimi, on Friday said six out of ten young people are cultists in Lagos.

The police boss, who expressed sadness over the rising cases of cultism among youths in Lagos, called for a state of emergency on cultism.

Imohimi spoke at a town hall meeting with some residents of Surulere area of the state.

The forum had as theme: “ Partnership with Community for Crime Prevention.’’


“I instructed one of my officers to carry out a research on the reason for increase in cultism among the young ones, and it was revealed that it gives them a kind of advantage over their peers.

“For some, they joined to avoid being intimidated. Whatever reason it is, the blame is on us parents for not caring enough about our children,” he said.

Imohimi commended residents of Surulere for their support to crime fighting and criminality, adding that there had been reduction in criminal activities in the area.

A Physician , Dr. Ayopo Adeyemi, on Sunday warned women against the use of artificial eyelashes, commonly used to enhance beauty, in view of its grievous consequences.

Adeyemi told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the health implications of fixing false eyelashes included corneal abrasions or ulcers, damage of the natural eyelashes, and eye sensitivity, among others.

She said that fixing of artificial eyelashes had become an increasingly popular trend in the fashion world, as most ladies, regardless of the health implications, seek perfection and glamour. .

According to her, natural eyelashes have their natural way of preventing dirt, sweat, bacteria and other foreign materials from entering into the eyes by trapping and keeping out anything that comes near.

Adeyemi, a practitioner at Mushin General Hospital, Lagos, said false eyelashes would accommodate the dirt, thereby causing different forms of allergy and infections.

“The use of harmful chemicals on the eyelashes can cause them to fall out quicker than they naturally would and it is also dangerous when tools to be used come in close proximity to the eye.

“Artificial eyelashes can cause trauma to the eye either through the glue and other materials used or unprofessional operators. There could be introduction of microbes into the eyes, causing conjunctivitis of all types.
