eminence5000: Visa denied today Lagos Embassy Tuition expenses: $56000 Funding : $57,000 Deficit: No deficit School: George Washington University
VO: Good morning Me: Good morning VO: I can see you are going for your doctorate degree, how did you get this huge scholarship? Me: I believe the admission committee were impressed with my academic profile which includes my academic transcripts, excellent gre score of 332, Quantitative 169, Verbal 163 and analytical writing 5.0. Good lettee of recommendations and my statement of purpose.
VO: very good. Sorry i cant approve your visa at this time.gives me blue paper.
Pls I am trying to reapply for the visa. Can i be approved for the surge emergency appointment at abuja embassy. Since i already applied for Surge in lagos embassy. I need your suggestions as how to go about getting a new visa appointment. My resumltion date is jan 18. Thank you. This is really strange!!! I’m really interested in your case & you are right about applying to Abuja for the surge date. Just a quick addition: It’s starting to sound cliche saying stellar academic record alone is why one got funding. You could first said: you will be working with Dr blah on blah research as research assistant. Then add how your tuition will be covered by the prof’s grant. Feel free to shoot me a message for more advisement. Cheers |

Kageindustry: Good day @xteemd01. Please I need your assistance.
I applied for an emmergency Visa interview with the lagos embassy on the 18th November Thursday and today I received a denial despite submitting my Sevis fee payment and my I20. My masters program starts 18th of January and its withing 60 days as required.
What must I do now?
My dashboards still show apply for emmergency date. Can i still apply for an emmergency interview?
Thank you in advance. Angel's guide. The person I’m helping out initially applied for EA before sending email for the surge dates in Lagos. The surge date was approved yesterday and she’s scheduled to appear 1st of December. But today she got an email saying her Emergency appointment has been denied though she uploaded all required documentations. Personally, I am guessing there might be a conflict between EA application and sending email for surge date. Or maybe it’s a systems glitch from the embassy. My question: have u applied to both surge date and EA. |

de3lar: I'm practically in the same shoe as them.
I finished school 2012, I'm 23 and I'm going for a bachelor's in civil engineering in Wilkes University (I've not seen it mentioned here before sef and might be one of the Red flags school, I don't know) I did URP for OND and HND. $10k funding from the school, $43k deficit covered by an uncle that we don't have the same surname, I don already zero my mind. I'll just prepare and pray for interview, if dem reject me, I'll just lockup. Yeah, I know you are in a very tricky situation but there is nothing impossible for God to do. Besides, why didn’t you try to get your OND and HND transcripts evaluated and apply for a masters If you haven’t been to the embassy before, I would advise you sit this one out and try master’s admission for the fall 2022 admission. I understand what getting a denial does to people. Keep the faith!!!! |

22nd November 2021 Abuja First Timer,
Southern New Hampshire University Business Administration and Management She got a 20% scholarship Msc
The VO asked to see her sponsor’s SOA (My mom) and what she does, went through each page of the SOA, and asked how long my sister has been working with Globacom.
No question about the school. 1st: congratulations to your younger sister 2nd: In all sincerity, I want you to tell us approximately times what the 80% COA left was contained in your mum’s SOA *2, *3 Note: we won’t be able to tell the amount in your mum’s account since you didn’t give us the actual value of the COA. This info will be really helpful to those that intend to go to the embassy but do not have any sort of funding. |

KHAshishi: Hey, I see alot of people using uncles , mother , father as sponsors. In a case where you have deficit of about 4000 dollars. Is it a red flag of you use yourself Like you got funding of about 90percent plus GTA and monthly stipend .
Is personal funding a red flag Personal funding is not a red flag. You might not even be asked to present your SOA considering your deficit is less than $5000. Just be sure you have exactly the equivalent in naira of that deficit (use embassy dollar rate to calculate). More is fine as well. Nothing less than the deficit though. |

Lustre23: I think I'm in the same boat with this guy o only that I'm female I finished secondary school since 2016 although im in 200l now but I already applied to schools as a fresh man. I know cases like ours are not common especially for bachelors as this thread is mostly for masters and PhD but please we need all the help we can get. Biko help us out. Personally I have done alot of searching by myself I have read this thread from page 1 with sleepless nights and all. Although i know there are a lot of factors that seem like are working against us but with help from good people here we too will be able to share our sucess stories. (My current school is really frustrating me with strikes and all) Make una help us abeg. I have really tried to be as candid as I can. Since your case is also unusual, it might actually be helped if you have full funding from the school or some substantial funding. Also, rather than apply as a freshman, you could have attempted to apply by transferring some credits from the college courses you already did. This would have required your transcript being evaluated. Like I mentioned, the embassy fixates so much on funding. This is not to say other factors are ignored. Quick note: let’s say there is a protracted strike going on currently in Nigerian institutions, this might likely help your case. Just adequately prepare for the interview so you are able to convey your responses to the VO convincingly, & most importantly, don’t leave out that element of prayer. You can almost anticipate that you will be asked what is informing your decision to crossover if you have indicated in your ds-160 that you have done some college work. |

Go ahead and start applying for Fall 2022 semester. If I remember correctly, I think you will be needing your passport number to schedule a gre test. Finding a date isn’t much of a deal. You do the registration when you have your passport. All the best as you start this journey. |

This course will equip and expose me on helping people to overtome difficunt challenges like mental illness, abuse, disability and many more.
VO:Why did you choose this school/why ME: Firstly, I choose this school because they offer courses in social work which I’m interested in learning and base on my research, KSU is also one of the top notch when it’s comes to academic, Secondly they provide internship within the 4yr to boost once career and also undergraduate at KSU Share the same sentiments about the helpful, polite and friendly nature all this will go a long way in my career
VO: why USA ME: American institution are known to have high academic standard and also US degree have an excellent international reputation, well respected and high ranked. They provide a flexible academic environment and also make cultural diversity one of their defining pillars. By studying in USA it will boost my career and make a valuable asset when I come back.

VO: who is sponsoring you ME: my uncle
VO: what does he do ME: He is a Business man he sells Coca Cola product in wholesale which he has his own depot and he is into real estate developer he buys and sell lands and properties.
Please help me with anything I can work on or to add or subtract from this proposal my gurus pls. And I’m ready for mock interview anyone who can help me with that. Thanks in advance. 1st: You finished high school in 2015, and just going for a bachelors degree more than 6 years after high school. That’s a disqualifying factor that will be hard to circumvent. I will put your age at over 21. Undergrads going abroad are usually within the age 16-19 (maybe 20) age. 2nd: You are going abroad for social work. In the fabric of the Nigerian society, I don’t really see this as a “marketable” skill. That’s a ‘NO’ for me. 3rd: Your responses to these questions: (what have you been doing? What will you do when you return to nigeria? What will this course do for you? How did you hear about the school?)…do not portray someone that really has a firm understanding of what he really wants to do. Your responses to question 2 & 3 in my parentheses should be tied to how marketable social work is in nigeria. But personally, I have expressed I don’t really believe in it. And you should stop saying you did an extensive research on google to find out about a school. Students going for master’s will expertly say “I reviewed an article written by a prof in this school during my undergraduate thesis. Conducted an in-depth analysis using the school’s website to learn more about a program that I am interested in”…. Just learn to say something along the academic line. 4th: who is sponsoring you? What does he do I will be capitalizing my expert response here so that everyone can benefit: THE “BURDEN OF PROOF” GOING TO THE EMBASSY HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL FORVER REMAIN, HOW ONE’S STUDY WILL BE FUNDED. THE PEOPLE I HAVE HELPED AND ANYONE I AM HELPING, I ALWAYS ENCOURAGE NOT TO GO TO THE EMBASSY UNLESS THEY HAVE FULL FUNDING OR MORE THAN 50% FUNDING. YOU CAN ALMOST ASSESS YOUR SUCCESS AT THE INTERVIEW ON THIS CRITERION ALONE. HOWEVER, THE FACT THAT SOMEONE DOES NOT HAVE FUNDING DOESN’T NECESSITATE THAT THEY SHOULDN’T GO TO THE EMBASSY. JUST ENSURE THAT THE STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT IS LEGITIMATE AND CARRIES MORE THAN *3 OF WHAT YOUR COA IS. LASTLY, WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE OWNER OF THE SOA YOU ARE CARRYING. IN MY OWN LISTING AND ARRANGEMENT FROM STRONG - WEAK TIE: ONE’S BIOLOGICAL PARENTS, UNMARRIED SIBLINGS, MARRIED MALE SIBLINGS, MATERNAL UNCLE/RELATIVE THAT CARRIES YOUR SURNAME (LASTNAME). Any other thing than this, you really have a hell of a hill to overcome considering how everyone is frantically trying to get out of the country. I did the same more than seven years ago. LASTLY: God is the one that qualifies even the unqualified. We have seen people with worst profile get granted visa. Miracles happen. Personally, I don’t test God until I have done my own due diligence. And I intensely pray to God to bless my efforts. I wish you the best femotech…. |

McKinzie: What if she defers her admission to Spring 2015, by that time, the baby would have been a year old. then she gives it another trial alone. and if the VO asks for her baby, she should tell the VO the baby is under an intensive care of her grandmother and has also been assigned a pediatrician for a routine preventive health maintenance.
A husband and 2 kids back home is also a perfect tie to Nigeria bro.
Just my opinion.
If you're adviced to wait 3-5 years before going to America, I'm sure you'd wanna curse the person!!! Dude, it's jux personal suggestions & no one is trying to compel her to take to any of those. Let her use her discretion to decide on what line of action she wants to take. Our best wishes are with her & d family anytime |

Green120: Hello house, i need your help. I have Been a silent follower and read through all the post. My wife, myself and my two kids ages 3yrs and the other 7 months, applied for a student visa, my wife was the main applicant while myself and the kids applied for f2 but we applied at the same time as she did and our visas where denied, the VO only gave her a paper stating she didn't have any strong ties back home and the only question asked was why did you pick this school.
She reapplied immediately and went for interview today with just my 7month old baby and she said all the VO asked her was how will you pay for your studies which she answered that I was going to pay for her, he asked her again what I do and she said I own my company and that I am also into landed properties, VO how will you cope with your child She answered that she will enroll her in a day care
VO how will you pay for the day care She answered my husband will
VO why did you choose this school( roosevelt university) She said as she was about answering, she had only said the school has a good academic reputation the the VO cut her short and said by who She said usnews.com
VO what does the school rank in the usnews ranking She said 77 in the region
VO why didn't you go for other ones that are ranked higher She said she needed a school that is affordable as well
VO is cost a problem and she said no
Only for him to bring out a blue paper and handed it to her saying am sorry you do not qualify for bla bla bla
Kindly advice Obviously, every1 seems to be ignoring the fact that your wife is still a nursing mother. How do you combine taking care of an infant baby with educatn ?? That's gonna be super-herculean.I would personally recommend you stayed away frm d embassy fr d time being......Plus I dnt rly knw ur wife's profile but I think her chances will be upped if her reasons for d M.SC degree is career-oriented and d VO will definitely be more convinced if the company she works for is d 1 sponsoring her and she has an assured higher position than she currently occupies to assume upon d completion of her degree abroad. And she can say her family ll always come visiting once she has found her foothold abroad.... Note: d 7 month baby needs to grow up to like age 3 or 5 since she has been involved in d framework and her existence cnt be withheld. |
