Career › Re: I Was Promoted Ahead Of My Superior by xtivin(m): 6:06pm On Feb 15, 2022 |
Asquare84: hi naira landers,
I worked in one of the financial institution in the country, sometimes last year I was promoted to head the department at zonal level, (good News right). here is the problem and challenges I have been facing on the job, I have almost six superior that are above me in terms of ranks, but I was made to supervise them. this superior don't send their report to me or seek my opinion on anything. I know they are not happy with me. my regional manager on sensing that this may be a problem recommended that I should be promoted ahead of all my superior yet our management is not saying anything about the recommendation of my regional manager.
most of this superior lobbied for this position but I was picked because of my ability's to deliver on the job.
experience peeps how do I handle a situation where I am supervising my superior yet they are not reporting to me or can I issue queries to them. Make all your communication with them official, copy your superiors and behave with wisdom because they are looking for your errors daily. Don't try to be a nice guy to them because it is not worth it. Thank me later |

Politics › SERAP Drags Buhari, Lai To Court For Failure To Publish Agreement With Twitter by xtivin(op): 4:27pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has sued President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to publish a copy of the agreement the Federal Government recently signed with Twitter, as well as the failure to publish the details of the terms and conditions of any such agreement. The organisation sued Buhari alongside the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed. The ban placed on Twitter operation in Nigeria was lifted by the Federal Government in January. While lifting the ban, Mohammed had claimed Twitter “agreed to act with a respectful acknowledgement of Nigerian laws and the national culture and history”. But in suit number FHC/L/CS/238/2022 filed last Friday at the Federal High Court, Lagos, SERAP is asking the court to “direct and compel President Buhari and Alhaji Lai Mohammed to release and widely publish a copy of the agreement with Twitter, and the terms and conditions of any such agreement”. In the suit, SERAP is arguing that: “It is in the interest of justice to grant this application. Publishing the agreement would enable Nigerians to scrutinise it, seek legal remedies as appropriate, and ensure that the conditions for lifting the suspension of Twitter are not used as pretexts to suppress legitimate discourse”. SERAP is also arguing that “Publishing the agreement with Twitter would promote transparency, accountability, and help to mitigate threats to Nigerians’ rights online, as well as any interference with online privacy and freedom of expression”. It said, “any agreement with social media companies must meet the constitutional requirements of legality, necessity, proportionality, and legitimacy. Secretly agreed terms and conditions will fail these fundamental requirements”. SERAP is also seeking “an order of mandamus to direct and compel President Buhari and Alhaji Lai Mohammed to clarify the manner and scope in which the agreement with Twitter will be enforced, and whether the agreement incorporates respect for constitutional and international human rights”. “The government has a duty to demonstrate that the conditions for lifting the suspension of Twitter would not threaten or violate the enjoyment of Nigerians’ human rights online and that the conditions are in pursuit of a legitimate goal in a democratic society,” the agency said. The minister, SERAP added, “responded to our freedom of information request but his response is completely unsatisfactory, as he merely stated that the ‘details are in the public space,’ without sending a copy of the agreement signed with Twitter as requested”. The suit filed on behalf of SERAP by its lawyers Kolawole Oluwadare and Opeyemi Owolabi read in part: “Nigerians are entitled to their human rights, such as the rights to freedom of expression, access to information, privacy, peaceful assembly, and association, as well as public participation both offline and online. “The operation and enforcement of the agreement may be based on broadly worded restrictive laws, which may be used as pretexts to suppress legitimate discourse, interfere with online privacy, and deter the exercise of freedom of opinion and expression.” “The statement by the Federal Government announcing the lifting of the suspension of Twitter after seven months used overly broad terms and phrases like ‘prohibited publication’, ‘Nigerian laws’, ‘national culture and history’. These open-ended terms and phrases may be used to suppress the legitimate exercise of human rights online. “Any agreement with social media companies must not be used as a ploy to tighten government control over access to the internet, monitor internet activity, or to increase online censorship and the capacity of the government to restrict legitimate online content, contrary to standards on freedom of expression and privacy.” “Section 39 of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 [as amended], article 9 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights guarantee the right to hold opinions without interference, and the right to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers and through any medium. “The Nigerian Constitution and human rights treaties impose duties on the government to ensure enabling environments for freedom of expression, privacy rights, and other human rights, and to protect their exercise.” Furthermore, it said that “While human rights law requires States to prohibit ‘advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence, States must still satisfy the cumulative conditions of legality, necessity, proportionality and legitimacy in any agreement with social media companies. “The government has a legal obligation to promote universal Internet access, media diversity and independence, as well as ensure that any agreements with Twitter and other social media companies are not used to impermissibly restrict these fundamental human rights.” No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit. Mode4: Please I need a candid explanation for this, if you have any.
I will try to be brief as much as possible.
So last two months I was invited for an interview in a new school that is about to begin by septamber, apparently a branch of one of the top missionary secondary schools in Nigeria. We were 22 in number that appeared for interview on that fateful day. The interview was for TWO subject teacher positions. I was interviewed for one of the subjects.
We all wrote a written test for one hour. At the end, according to them; Six persons emerged highest scorers. I was among the six persons. I.e, Three persons for EACH of the two subjects.
We were then subjected to an oral interview and micro teaching which lasted for about 20mins for each person. Well, I was the first. answered most of the questions that were thrown at me. I left feeling very satisfied. Just like you would write an exam and leave the hall feeling very good because you know you wrote well, that was how I felt that day.
Well, after the interview we exchanged contacts and I and the other guys have been communicating ever since. Till now no news from the HR team that interviewed us. And it's 2months already.
Well, the HR number was in the mail he sent to me for interview, So today I decided to call the HR. I was shocked to hear that the position we were interviewed for has been filled.
I am wondering? What really happened? Why didn't they pick from amongst the six of us Just why? I'm just being curious! The job has been filled before the interview oga. What they did with you guys is cleaning up the paperwork. |

Chiefupper: Hi guys, please I need your guidance on this issue. I wanted to set up a gas shop for my brother so I approached a man selling gas cylinder in large scale, I asked him how much it will cost me to set it up and he quantified everything necessary to 90K. Unfortunately, I'm having 70K with me, I deposited the 70K on Sept 1st, 2020 and promised to balance it up next month and pack my goods. Before the month end I lost the invoice he gave me. I searched for the invoice for 3 months but couldn't find it so I went back to him, in February, 2021, thinking he will still have the duplicate. When I explained to him he promised to help me but said i should be calling him every Sunday to remind him, I did this for about 4 months and he later told me he can't find it, then I said he should return my money, he said he is not sure whether I even pay him that I should go and bring evidence, fortunately for me, I paid him through bank transfer (UBA USSD Code), so I went to UBA to get my account statement, when I collected the account statement and checked, I discovered neither his account name nor his account number was in the statement ( the bank just wrote irrelevant numbers which only the bank knows its use), I took this to him and he denied it immediately that the evidence is not genuine. I then said OK let's go to the bank together so as to confirm from your own account and my own account (we are both using UBA), he said he can't leave his shop, he knows I truly sent money to him because his wife has confirmed it but he is just not ready to release the money and even claiming there's nothing I can do. I have paid 150K for shop which my brother will use for this business and the rent will expire this month August, I have lost a lot on this and I don't want it to slide just like that, so I'm planning to sue him and claim damages, I just need how to start this process from you guys. Thanks Mr. you have no evidence against him and he knows. If he is igbo, they never refund money at worst they will make you pay more later. To be fair, after 5month do you expect the cost to remain the same?. Its a civil case just be reasonable at this point and be smarter next time. |

Elzazzi: Who else has noticed that the matter is gradually dying down. Some of us have been saying it that nothing will happen to him. He won’t be extradited to the US. I only wish Southerns could learn from this , especially the political leaders. We all saw how the Northern elites and the people protected their own even with all the glaring evidences. We all know if it were to be a Southerner, especially someone from the South eastern part, this matter would have gone far than what we are seeing now. I just wished we southerners can support ourselves the way northerners normally do. Very correct. That guy will find his way to government one day like Maina did. |

Maybe she's expecting me to start begging and petting her but I'm not ready for that. She's talking about all the wrongs I've done to her since we met but ignoring what led to our misunderstanding.
Can I live with this kind of human being in the same house as a wife? The more she keeps talking, the more I'm getting angry. She's vomiting all my records of wrong since we met.
Is this normal? How can I handle this nature of human being? She is runs gal...playing the emmotional game. Leave the house for her and hangout with homies |
Romance › Re: The Girl I Am Trying To Date Is Fickle-Minded! Please Help by xtivin(m): 10:11am On Aug 08, 2021 |
Omicron007: Hello fellow Nairalanders, There's this girl I really like. She's my spec and we just clicked and became good friends. I actually met her at an event and we exchanged numbers. I did all the necessary follow ups and we connected. We have gone swimming, outings and I have invited her over to my place like three times. We have great conversations, kisses and all that, but no sex.
She called me recently and told me I need to leave her alone because she is Fickle minded.
I went through the internet to research more about fickle minded people.
According to vocabulary.com, People who are fickle change their minds so much you can't rely on them. If your best friend suddenly decides that she doesn't like you one week, and then the next week she wants to hang out again, she's being fickle. Fickle comes from the Old English word ficol, for deceitful. We usually use fickle to talk about people, but it can also be used for abstract things that alternately favor you and abuse you, like the weather. If you win the lottery and then lose everything else in the world that's important to you, fate is being fickle.
I am now confused. Should I persuade her because I want her to be my girlfriend. I am not a Simp and I don't want to be all around her if she is truly fickle minded.
Help a bro. Your comments are highly anticipated.
©Omicron007 All she want is a fling, the both of you move. But you are getting too emotional for her liking bro!!! |
