As a black Man with natural hair, I’ve come to expect fascination, ignorance and sometimes insensitivity about my appearance from people outside the black community. Comments such as “your hair is messy/crazy/wild today”, “you look like a sheep/brillo pad” and “your hair gets in the way” are frequently part of natural life. What I’m less ready to tolerate is criticism of natural hair from other black people (Nigerian Especially).
Sometimes the criticism is subtle, such as dirty looks in the street from other Black Men who have chosen to shave theirs into whatever style they wanted/black girls wearing their hair in weaves. Other times it’s from those closer to home. I have friends whose family members have repeatedly asked: “what are you doing with your hair?”. My Parents are not worried tho, they're only concerned about Keeping it neat and Good Looking
A few days ago, I moved to my Immediate elder bro's place in Portharcourt while preparing for an important interview (for my IT placement as an Architecture Student), a well-meaning black friend, advised me to straighten my hair, and another acquaintance recommended I “put it in a bun”. I was appalled. They failed to address any of my real concerns yet felt entitled to burden me with this “advice”. I went for the interview, feeling as if my hair was yet another thing counting .
On Getting there I was welcomed with a question from the Head Admin 'How do you Maintain your hair? Dont you feel pains? Do you comb it?.. And that was how the interview ended with me trying to answer questions concerning my hair.. (Thank Goodness there were other Firms ready to accept me for who I'm and not what I look like)
That same morning, his Land Lord came to our apartment demanding to see me. He said he saw me coming in the previous afternoon and wanted to 'advice' me to shave my hair (how do you want me to shave a 5 month old Dread).
Ever since Penultimate class in secondary school, I've been on either High Ponk or Mohawk, recently I decided it high time i made it into dreads, and since then all I've received is cristicim from Folks, Family Friends, Lecturers, some even went as far as reporting to my parents with reasons such as:
'You may be accused wrongly on the street for your hairstyle, You'll never get a Job with your hairstyle, This Hairstyle is only meant for Rascals. Seriously?
I want to ask 'Are black people (Men) not allowed to choose whichever hairstyle they wish to carry?, Or When did Natural Hair Become a Sin?
Bellow is the picture of the hairstyle I'm rocking

missyQween: Because ur appearance defined who you are... Thats an old saying that's got no prove.. Your appearance has got nothing to do with your intelligence A gall walks in on weave (Artificial) she's seen as classy, anither walks in in Natural Hair, she's seen as poor and unserious.. This whole thing boils down to hypocrisy.. Op rock your cloths the way you want and forget about all the Criticism, you'll find out life is much easier when you don't have to impress anyone |

Architects are pretty much high-class whores. We can turn down projects the way they can turn down some clients, but we’ve both got to say yes to someone if we want to stay in business.”– Philip Johnson That was spoken decades ago. Now we have more similarities and differences between the 2 professions: 10 Similarities•Both professions are more than 4000 years old • Love working at night and always lack of sleep • Working more efficient when it gets ‘in the mood’ • Don’t need basic capital when starting a job • Almost working for cash (very few who works for pure enjoyment) • Always ready to serve lots of client at once if has strength • Love clients who’s loaded with cash (especially foreigner) • Prone to labour abuse • Has to get to know clients characteristic to serve • When clients are in the bad mood, both got treated very badly. Extra* They both complain of Back pains 10 Differences• Architect earn money with the brain, prostitute earn money with… • Architect serve everyone, regardless of sex. Prostitute only serve male • Architect don’t gasp while working • Architect don’t lay down while working • Architect wear clothes while working • Architect don’t get paid everytime they meet client • Clients need architect to work as fast as possible – compare to prostitute, the slower the better • Clients don’t catch their breath after using architects services • A client hardly use architects service twice a month • Architect using prostitute’s service more than prostitute using architect’s In prostitution services have hierarchical system with the high end escort and the cheap one. It's a two way thing, follow and do what pleases you bro, That Job can end any moment with you loosing a life time opportunity, mind you it's not your father's Establishment per say
Also when you get there, Study wisely so you don't come back looking for a Job, we all pray to be better than what we're today
It's not just about leaving, it's about what you're coming back with, you're not going there to study and then return seeking for a Job, you too can have your own establishment.. |

KCode: Are the Beats by Dre headphones worth the money? If you own a Beats by Dre headphone you should know the kind of gaze passers-by give you when you put it on. Some even ask to listen. It’s a brand that has really carved a niche for itself standing out from the bunch. With a collaboration with Monster Cable it was developed.
It comes with a high price tag but is it really good (in sound and the likes)? Yes it is. Be it the Beats studio or the Beats solo, they do their job averagely well. Since there are some brands that perform well as equally as the Beats and are low-priced, why then is the Beats by Dre higher-priced? The thing is you are actually paying some extra money for the name. Overall the Beats by Dre headphones are good in sound, possess a gorgeous design and stand out as a formidable brand.
Source : http://www.informationfromjay..com/2015/06/are-beats-by-dre-headphones-worth-money.html Been using my Beats Solo for 1.6years now and counting, only problem I faced was that the Cable worn out and needed replacement.. It's worth the money bro |

Rossikk: THIS IS WHY I SAY OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IN THIS COUNTRY IS IGNORANCE AND INFERIORITY COMPLEX.
I HAVE NOT READ A SINGLE DECENT REPLY TO THAT BUFFOON WHO DID THAT TWITTER COMPARISON.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH US, REALLY? WE ARE SO IGNORANT, AND JUST BELITTLE OURSELVES FOR NO REASON.
PENCILS? SO THE FCK WHAT IF NO COMPANY IN NIGERIA PRODUCES PENCILS?
I'VE ACTUALLY SEEN RESPONSES HERE THAT SUGGEST IT IS THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB TO PRODUCE PENCILS.
WHEN IN FACT IT IS AS MUCH A PRIVATE SECTOR BUSINESS AS PRODUCING SHOES, HANDBAGS, AND COMPUTERS.
NOW, LET ME REMIND YOU PEOPLE OF SOME THINGS NIGERIA PRODUCES, WHICH THAT TWITTER DUNCE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT, TO BE PLACING US ON THE LEVEL OF 'PENCILS'.
ITEMS PRODUCED IN NIGERIA IN COMMERCIAL QUANTITIES:
- VEHICLES - CARS, TRUCKS, BUSES, SUVs - AUTOMATIVE COMPONENTS - CHEMICALS - COMPUTERS - PAINT - PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS - PETROLEUM PRODUCTS - MILITARY EQUIPMENT - SEA FARING VESSELS - CEMENT - PAPER PULP - GAS CYLINDERS - YEAST, INDUSTRIAL ALCHOHOL, AND RELATED PRODUCTS - IRON RODS FROM BILLETS - SHEET GLASS - IRON AND STEEL PRODUCTS - PIPES AND TUBES (METAL PRODUCTS) - MARBLES AND PROCESSED MARBLES - FERTILIZER - TRANSFORMERS - YARN AND SYNTHETIC FIBRES - SOAP - SHOES, FASHION WEAR
+ MANY MORE ITEMS
NOW, IF IN A COUNTRY THAT PRODUCES ALL THESE THINGS, IT SOMEHOW IS THE CASE THAT PENCILS ARE NOT PRODUCED, HOW DOES THAT MAKE THE COUNTRY ''BACKWARD''?
HOW?
HOW??
Tufia. LIKE I SAID EARLIER, OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IS INFERIORITY COMPLEX AND IGNORANCE.
YOU HAVE ''EDUCATED'' PEOPLE HERE WHO ACTUALLY THINK NIGERIA ''DOES NOT PRODUCE ANYTHING, NOT EVEN PENCILS''.
I MEAN, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?
IF THERE ARE NO PENCILS BEING PRODUCED IN A COUNTRY, NORMAL PEOPLE WILL SEE THAT AS AN AREA OF BUSINESS TO GET INTO, TO MEET MARKET DEMAND. SIMPLE. FINISH.
BUT IN NIGERIA, THEY SEE IT AS YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO PROFESS THEIR INFERIORITY AND HOPELESSNESS BEFORE THE WORLD.
WHO DID THIS TO YOU PEOPLE?
RIGHT NOW WE HAVE SATELLITES SITTING IN OUTER SPACE BUILT 1000% BY NIGERIANS.
DO WE TALK ABOUT THAT? NOPE!
AFTERALL WE DON'T MAKE ''PENCILS''!!
IN FACT WE HAVE PROBLEMS AS A PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. You made no point dude, what I compared was what both senators said we would achieve in the foreseeable future.. Nobody debunke we aint producing the aforementioned, what I'm trying to say is that we have passed the stage of producing our own pencils, we need to look further And one more thing, you could make a point without calling anyone names, it'll help your career a lot, maybe you watch around you, might be the cause of your backwardness |

This man is a stark slowpoke.
By the way, where is the evidence he has even put any pen to paper in moving this anywhere and not just some imaginary bills that exist only on the floor of the senate that convenes inside his head? Reference: Then why not design a central conditioning system that the client can afford. Is that not proper 'architecture/engineering'. But the fact is that our people allow Samsung and LG decide how our homes are designed, engineered and operated. Who says both needs can't be met. The client has to acknowledge he would pay for whatever you designed, most Architects/Engineers Include that in their Specification, but the client and contractors wade if off and term it as being 'Expensive'. |
Properties › Re: Why Not A Central AC System? (Photos} by Xtopher123(m): 9:57pm On Apr 26, 2016 |
It depends on what The client wants, it's more expensive tho install and more expensive to maintain..
Mind you it's most effective, especially in high rise/Mixed use building
For those saying individual room temperature cannot be achieved is a pure lie, each room can be zoned to operate on a different temperature ------------_---------- You don't design what a client cannot afford.. No thats a flop
Most Nigerian clients want it the normal way, they want the best but don't wanna spend the Cash..
Architecture/Engineering is a client that has money with an Engineer/Architect with vision |

frankstein109: Nigeria should not worry about producing drive less cars ,high-speed train or even cars. It doesn't matter if Nigeria produces anything at all,and it doesn't matter if 1 dollars equals 1000 naira. I don't think that's where the problem lies. 120 Japanese Yen equals 1 Dollar ,yet Japan is one of the most developed and organized societies in the world . What matters is to build an organized society. There are no made in Switzerland products or made in Qatar products or made in Sweden products yet those countries are organized . I maintain that Nigeria is a disorganized society. Do not put the cart before the horse . Listen open your heart and read carefully what matters the most . Don't worry about eko atlantic ,it doesn't matter at all. 1. Constant electricity - The very first thing that should happen even if it takes 8 years is to concentrate all the money on building an efficient power station to produce constant electricity .Forget the Lagos calabar railway or any other project. Without constant electricity,no need to talk about anything else . After achieving constant electricity ,we move on to step 2 . 2. Border security and citizen ID database. - Increased border security and compulsory ID database for all Nigerian citizens . You can not school ,work or get healthcare in Nigeria if you you are not on the database and if you do not have the ID. This will help curb illegal immigration and, terrorist activities, herdsmen and other corruption inflows from Niger republic,Chad,Cameroon, and Benin Republic.
3. housing and Community organization. we have to make a clear outline of building a grid city planning . Free hold housing and land ownership must be abolished ,and mass spec housing must be built . All roads in this order will have side-walks ,garbage bins and traffic signs . Transit buses will move on all major roads. 4. We will create Laws which will govern the land .some of the laws include (A.) child labour in form of house boy and house girl is against the law (b.) street hawking is illegal (C.) overloading any vehicle is against the law . (D) death sentence for corrupt politicians. etc.
Nigeria will be a developed nation with these ,even if there's no single skyscraper in Nigeria. I totally agree with you.. I once read that USA defeated the issue of uninterrupted power supply in the 1900s and that was a leap for them. Added to the aforementioned, Nigeria's problem also includes illiteracy and lack of information as well. A lot of people out there are not Informed and that way they become deformed in the society.. An average Nigerian wants to Earn without working and thats a mentality we have to put an end to also.. |
