This is a serious something!!! Feeling so Sad right now.

When other developed countries in the world are exploring more to better the lives of their people, my country (Nigeria) is dreaming of achieving what a nursery school student in a developed country will do in less than 20mins.

⇒ Below is a Tweet shared by Sheikh Mohammed, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Emir of Dubai. And that of Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu made in February 2016.

guy forget story.
it's only in Nigeria too that every landlord wants to build houses and fences that are too close to main road. it is simply an eyesore. approval or not, once your house is close to the road, there are inherent dangers in involved.
1.a government deciding to expand the wrong will compensate you, but what happens to the damage and defacing of your structure? what of the stress of rebuilding?

2. what if a truck fails break and Rams into the structure?
3.the standard gap is 50m, but how many people observe that?
it's only in Nigeria that people use every available space to build, including building shops ontop drainage.
It's not 50m it's 6m away from service lane and 3m from the Perimeter Fence Minimum

AreOnaKakanfo:
Other than free fall rain from the sky onto the patio then no rain from the roof will ever touch the terrace because the simple solution is rain gutters which exists here in Nigeria already.

This structure is not my cup of tea but if that is what the client wants then it should be given to him . Dismissing this structure partially when the solution is less than N10,000 is professional negligence, in my opinion.

Any professional should see himself as a solutions provider first and foremost.

Na gode.

PS: Please note that the downspout goes though a space in the decking and hugs the building.
PPS: Even if the rain water is allowed to fall onto the decking, what is the worst case scenario here if the decking is adequately prepared to deal with rain water?
I see nothing wrong with that design

Wh knows maybe the Architect wanted to have Garden on that slab, the only solution is to treat that slab to deal with rain water and also hold the Garden,

The questioneer doesn't even know that
PropertiesRe: VERY IMPORTANT: Mistakes Architects Make And Should Be Avoided by Xtopher123(m):
In as much as what the OP is saying might be true, but I Disagree with his sentiment, no reasonable Architect would ma those mistakes he mentioned,

I'm an Architect in the making and I've come to realise that Our structural engineers in Nigeria are Lazy and don't want to be given tasking jobs.

A Senior Architect once told me - If you cannot design what an Engineer cannot build thn youre not an Architect..

Op there is nothing that cannot be built, it's a matter of the type of material being used, ost engineers only think of the Conventional Concrete and steel forgetting that the world has gone beyond that..

Browse and search for Architect Pier Liungi Nervi, his works would explain better , he did a lot of designs people/structural Engineers thought would never stand, but he built them because he had knowledge of Structures

I once asked a Structural Engineer if he could span a cantilever of 30m, his response almost made me weep for Engineers, He said 'How do you expect to span a cantilever over a plot of land? And I was baffled, Most of the Stadiums you watch on TV are actually spanning more than that.. And yet a so called structural Engineer said it's not possible..

As far as I'm concerned I would not let any Engineer interfere with my design, whatever he can't achieve, some else would
PhonesFirst Smartphone To Ditch The 3.5mm Headpho Jack And Guess What - It's Not Apple by Xtopher123(op):
LeEco's three new smartphones ditch the headphone jack

https://o.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/midas/580153474649822db3c966b45169dc4e/203711249/le-2-series-c.jpg

We've been hearing rumors about Apple killing the 3.5mm headphone jack on its next major iPhone release, but looks like one Chinese company was keen to beat its American rival in this "race." LeEco, famed for bringing the world's first USB Type-C phones and recently investing in Aston Martin's electric car development, has just announced three new smartphones -- the Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 -- that have ditched the conventional headphone jack in favor of the upcoming USB Type-C digital headphones. Unit now, HTC and JBL's Reflect Aware C was the only one in this new headphone category, so it's fitting that LeEco is also adding two of its own USB-C earpieces -- a pair of in-ears and a pair of noise-cancelling over-ears. These are also the first to be certified by LeEco's very own Continual Digital Lossless Audio standard.

LeEco's three new metallic smartphones share almost identical looks, especially with their squircle fingerprint reader and their HTC-like injection moulded antenna bands on the back, as well as their edge-to-edge glass panel on the front to mimic a borderless screen when switched off. There aren't exactly the most exciting designs we've seen of late, but they aren't bad, either.

As you can tell by the name, the Le 2 and Le 2 Pro are the two more affordable choices out of the three, both sporting a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a generous 3,000mAh fixed battery and a 10-core tri-cluster MediaTek chipset on the inside -- the X20 on the Le 2 and the faster X25 on the Le 2 Pro. Both have an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, but on the back, the Le 2 has a 16-megapixel main camera whereas the Le 2 Pro has a 21-megapixel counterpart powered by a Sony IMX230 sensor -- the same chip inside the Moto X Pure Edition. As for memory, both models come with 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM on the Le 2 and 4GB of RAM on the Le 2 Pro.

The more premium Le Max 2 has a larger and sharper 5.7-inch QHD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, a more advanced ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a slightly larger 3,100mAh battery and Quick Charge 3.0 support. It has the same pair of cameras as the Le 2 Pro, except its main camera has the added benefit of optical image stabilization. Memory-wise it maxes out at 64GB of onboard storage with a whopping 6GB of RAM. Thanks to the Qualcomm chipset, this model supports tri-band carrier aggregation, thus allowing download speeds of up to 375 Mbps on supported networks.

Update: OK, CEO Jia Yueting later announced the prices: 1,099 yuan ($170) for the Le 2, 1,499 yuan ($230) for the Le 2 Pro, 2,099 yuan ($325) for the base-spec (4GB RAM and 32GB storage) Le Max 2 and just 2,499 yuan ($390) for the top-spec (6GB RAM and 64GB storage) version. Pre-order starts today in China.

This is one reason why I Hate Christians, they never take 'Prophesy nor Predictions' about doom from Men that aint their own direct pastors nor General Overseer of their own churches serious and yet they claim to serve one God...

Even in your bible, there were a lot of Prophesies about doom, and people that took it serious survived..

CultureWhy Are Blacks Criticised Over Their Hairstyle / Natural Hair? by Xtopher123(op): 9:40am On Apr 07, 2016
As a black Man with natural hair, I’ve come to expect fascination, ignorance and sometimes insensitivity about my appearance from people outside the black community. Comments such as “your hair is messy/crazy/wild today”, “you look like a sheep/brillo pad” and “your hair gets in the way” are frequently part of natural life. What I’m less ready to tolerate is criticism of natural hair from other black people (Nigerian Especially).

Sometimes the criticism is subtle, such as dirty looks in the street from other Black Men who have chosen to shave theirs into whatever style they wanted/black girls wearing their hair in weaves. Other times it’s from those closer to home. I have friends whose family members have repeatedly asked: “what are you doing with your hair?”. My Parents are not worried tho, they're only concerned about Keeping it neat and Good Looking

A few days ago, I moved to my Immediate elder bro's place in Portharcourt while preparing for an important interview (for my IT placement as an Architecture Student), a well-meaning black friend, advised me to straighten my hair, and another acquaintance recommended I “put it in a bun”. I was appalled. They failed to address any of my real concerns yet felt entitled to burden me with this “advice”. I went for the interview, feeling as if my hair was yet another thing counting .

On Getting there I was welcomed with a question from the Head Admin 'How do you Maintain your hair? Dont you feel pains? Do you comb it?.. And that was how the interview ended with me trying to answer questions concerning my hair.. (Thank Goodness there were other Firms ready to accept me for who I'm and not what I look like)

That same morning, his Land Lord came to our apartment demanding to see me. He said he saw me coming in the previous afternoon and wanted to 'advice' me to shave my hair (how do you want me to shave a 5 month old Dread).

Ever since Penultimate class in secondary school, I've been on either High Ponk or Mohawk, recently I decided it high time i made it into dreads, and since then all I've received is cristicim from Folks, Family Friends, Lecturers, some even went as far as reporting to my parents with reasons such as:

'You may be accused wrongly on the street for your hairstyle, You'll never get a Job with your hairstyle, This Hairstyle is only meant for Rascals. Seriously?

I want to ask 'Are black people (Men) not allowed to choose whichever hairstyle they wish to carry?, Or When did Natural Hair Become a Sin?

Bellow are pictures of me from my Penultimate Class till date

It's fast but coz of no IP Address it disconnects immediately you start downloading..

But there is a workaround

* To keep your download going, once you start downloading any file,

Change your phone screen timeout to 10mins, then Open Psiphone and leave it running until your download is complete..

That's how I bypass throttling at times

Its not as easy as you guys see it. There is a lot involved in ISP business and nobody will venture into these biz to do charity. Imagine the wahala they go through from NCC, They pay so much million to acquire Lic to operate as National Carriers, You haven't talked about there Base Stations how much it cost them to build it and maintain it especially with our epileptic power supply of which they will be running diesel everyday cos they can't depend on our power supply. Then Bandwidth, how much bandwidth do they pay monthly to whosoever. Speaking of bandwidth everybody at the moment all buys bandwidth from Glo1 and they sell it very expensive to this guys Imagine you paying 1mb for 90k monthly how many people do you think you can serve with that and tell me if you will be able to promise your clients unlimited for cheaper price and expect the service to be awesome at that level.

If you must know the total Bandwidth Glo1 brought into Nigeria via their submarine cable is 3TB and all this giants Telecoms and ISP are plugged into it including all these LTE companies who lie to you that they have 4G service. Glo are making more money from the co operate Clients not the final consumers like us and you guys should stop dreaming about unlimited to be cheap with reasonable speed in Nigeria. It will only happen when if there is stable power supply, and NCC is not killing them behind close doors and if bandwidth is not expensive from where they buy it from.

People like Etisalat spends so much money on there infrastructure and bandwidth their data will remain expensive because they are offering quality and thats what we should be opting for.
You just posted exactly what I was about to post too.
