Any idea what rates u were charged. As it is lowest rate , forget stress. Lol Austacus: If you’re paying through flywire, they would follow your bank rate. They not gonna ask you for extra or tell you that they have there owned rate. Your bank would only stand as a third party to send the money to flywire in international currency then flywire would deliver the money to your school in two working days or more. your bank would buy dollar from CBN it could be US or CAD depending on the one that’s available at that time. (cause dollar dey finish for CBN wella) so don’t follow google rate or currency converter board rate in the bank ( banks don't update it). All banks have their own rate. ask the international fund transfer or customer care in your bank the current rate.
Your bank will charge you (my bank charged me of 15k for all the process) the process no be small thing cause CBN will request for your intl passport, degree result, letter of admission (NYSC is not compulsory) from you before they would release dollar to you. So the whole process could take 3 hrs plus
I am using flywire as an example cause that's the only option my school gave me. (I don't know if some schools in Canada do receive the money directly from local bank)
If you have any trusted person in Canada You won't undergo the stress of paying your tuition fee in Nigeria, if you have any trusted person that has a dom account in Nigeria, you ain't stressing yourself with Nigeria bank and CBN. But to me, it's not stress.
Good luck |

Hi Qudkom, what is this guaranteed investment certificate please educate me.... Qudkom: Hello, all the programs listed show reasonable progression. My advice for you will be:
1. If you have enough funds with you get a GIC (Guaranteed investment certificate) from one of the Canadian banks to pay in your living expenses for 12months. 2. I will advice you go for the 2-year Advanced diploma program. 3. Pay your tuition deposit for a semester. 4. Write a convincing SOP. 5. Lastly, you didn't mention your current job and work experience. 6. Study gap doesn't mean anything(You definitely haven't been idle this past years). Regarding the self sponsor I'll advice you get a co-sponsor.
P.s: what's the unrelated field you've been working? |

Hello boss, after thinking about it I decided to wait for the gcms before application but I will handle things till then like paying part tuition and having the rest of the money in my acct, upfront medicals , arranging all docs and research. Thank you and I appreciate any other thoughts that comes to your mind. JustMellow: In as much as some applicants in the erstwhile has done so. It sage not to be hasten in your reapplication, be patient for the gcms notes as you might just end up finding a new raised concerns but you know the preference most suitable.
Good luck! |

Very much noted. I appreciate you and thanks. Will keep u posted . Qudkom: I guess the gcms note will shed more light. No need to rush reapplying. I believe you will get it once all the details are established. |

As soon as I got the letter, the first thing I did was order for the gcms note before coming here or calling family about it. Austacus: Yes co sponsor can be a third party. The commitment is the main thing here. Pay your half tuition fee or send your living expenses to your account
You can reduce the size of your application online eg ilovepdf, smallpdf, sodapdf etc so many of them.
As for the Gcms notes I will advice you order for it... while waiting for it, use the time to look for a co sponsor and reorganize your application and make it tight this time. Then Hope on God |

OK that's noted .. I think I can fire back without waiting for gcms note with all your help. Kindly respond to the email I sent through NL so we can communicate better bro. Thank you again and again Austacus and @ Qudkom. Another one is how can I reduce files and docs for online app.... Any advice on that based on your challenges during online application . Austacus: Pay your tuition fee cause it’s clearly stated in your refusal grounds (Half of 1 year). clear that ground real quick
And again, if you have a family picture Take a clean sheet of paper and gum it on top of the picture then you draw a line and name each of everyone of you in the picture (including your late parents) |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by yacha77: 7:44am On Apr 06, 2019 |
Thanks you boss, that's exactly how I wrote my SOP, I want to forward it to you so u can see where I might have gone wrong. Another sponsor can be a third party?. I didnt mention the investment in my Sop but only added proof. Should I have money in my account instead of paying tuition because flight schools have crazy refund policies so even them do not encourage payments before visa( I'm going to a flight school and not a regular uni). Austacus: You’ve nailed it sir
@yacha77 Liquid cash is more important to the eyes of these VOs If you’re submitting any investments Make sure you do the justice in Your SOP Calculate everything with Oanda in your SOP For example my full tuition is C$ blah blah blah and the living cost estimate is C$ blah blah blah bring the total amount required for the programme to C$ blah blah blah out of which C$ blah blah blah has already been paid to my school bringing the balance of my tuition to C$ blah blah blah and the living cost remains C$ blah blah blah bringing the outstanding tuition fee and living cost to C$ blah blah blah. In support of my application i submitted brothers account, my account and, please add a co sponsor. (State the closing balance of each of the account using Oanda in Cad) A estate investment account Valued at N 15 already matured and convert it to Cad using Oanda Saving account with (Mention the bank name) N 3 million naira as at the date of my application (also put the amount in CAD using Oanda exchange) (Your personal account) Saving account with Keystone Bank Plc with closing balance of N 300k as at the date of my application. Also in Oanda. “Now this is the work, sum everything together” Therefore, the total amount of money in my sponsors account was eg 19 million as at the date of my application which is equivalent of C$ 70,288.2 using oanda exchange rate as at April 6th 2019 which is C$ 1 = N 269.20
Please get a co sponsor, pay your tuition fee (first term or 1 year) 1 year preferably Try and be emotional in your SOP about your late parents, tell the VO the promise and fulfillment you made to them by attaining your aviation dream) (Sorry for your lost) Your brother should write constructive sponsorship later (He should state the amount he’s committing to your education). If he has plenty dependent he shouldn’t list all of them in the affidavit (just 1 will do). If your brother is earning like 7 million yearly..., in your affidavits make it 15 million yearly. Then he should mention the real estate and any Auxiliary business or job with proof). Please try and get a co sponsor. Your co sponsor doesn’t need to have fortune. He should just show some commitment to your account.
These are the thing I can think of right now... if there’s more, I will let you know. |

Very helpful and God bless you. My mum is also late and all sibling wrote letters of support stating their support and that they are gainfully employed attached with work IDs. My brother is the signatory to the estate account also. I'm planning having the money transferred to my account to show availability and fire a LOE, SOP to support purpose of visit(kindly note that I am going to a flight school which normally has no link with my degree in sociology but I have over 4 years aviation experience with professional certification. Qudkom: Your denial is simple and also complicated. Using an estate account signifies funds that are available for general upkeep for you and your family. The fact that the funds is also been accessed by third parties aside from you means anything can happen and you might not be able to fund yourself in canada. My advice would be this: 1. You have to pay your 1st semester school fees. 2. Have a substantial amount transferred into a savings account to show the money is readily available. 3. I'll suggest your mum write a compelling letter of sponsor; something emotional probably your late dad (May his soul rest in peace) always wanted you to get the best of education and if he was alive he'd be proud to sponsor you..... I hope you get the drift, this people are human beings like us. 4. Attach a Family picture showing your late dad and his death certificate 5. If you have a family business that's registered you can use it as part of your home ties. If you are going for a management/business or any innovative program then you can add it to your SOP that you want to add innovative ideas to the family business and lift the pressure of your mum etc... and that your dad would be proud.
I hope you get more advice from this forum. Good luck. P.S: It is left to you to proove to the VO that there woll not be pressure on your family to sponsor an expensive educational program in Canada. You have to attach proof that your siblings and all are doing well financially and gainfully employed because the VO is skeptical that the pressure might be too much. It is also advisable to have funds in traditional banks that can be easily verified than investment companies. |

Sorry I didn't explain, we have it differentiated for biometric alone. As it is no paper applicant except for the GH app has gotten medical request so estimated time for medical request is based on the online applications. Thanks and appreciate your efforts. sillysassysally: This is noted and thanks for the suggestion.
A timeline for paper and online has already been differentiated in the "calculations" section. Please feel free to explain better what you have in mind... |

Awuuga: You’re going to school but you are allowed to work for 20 hours a week while the school is in session and 40 hours a week when the school isn’t.
Making sure you can work on and off campus shouldn’t be a big deal. It didn’t seem like one when I asked OK nice, enjoy ur stay, we go soon show make VO answer us quick |

Is it normal to ask that you wanna work when I'm sure we all indicated that we are not going to work but school. Awuuga: Standard but if you don’t ask, they could make a mistake and give you a work permit that will only let you work on campus. So to be on the safe side, ask.
P.S correcting the mistake on your study permit could take months. |
