I got a 2008 Toyota corolla in February, during inspection everything about the car was ok no warning lights, after I bought and serviced the car (changed engine oil, oil filter, transmission fluid, etc), the following day check engine light showed on the dashboard, my mechanic and others said I should ignore it, though the car has no faults. Just want to know if it is something I should be worried about?

I think your first worry should be that mechanic. Change the mechanic, get someone that has scanner and know what's wrong.

Read your car manual. It should tell you the procedure for changing your transmission fluid and the quantity needed. With this you can monitor what your technician is doing and call his attention when he is doing something contrary to the manual. When is changed my transmission oil for my car july last year, my mechanic was arguing that I needed 5 liters or it won't gauge while my manual says 4.2 liters. We argued and I stood my ground. He says na 5 liters him dey put for others with my car brand, I said no. After he put whT I asked him to put and gauged it, it was correct. The remaining trans fluid dey my boot. So read your car manual and guide your mechani accordingly.

I recently drove a 2010 Yaris hatchback 5door 1.5l 1nz-fe engine, automatic, very zippy on petrol, portable car, honestly I fell in love with the Yaris.
Just a simple funky car.

I'm also considering that 1.5 litre Yaris.
I expect removal of subsidy but Nigerian used is quite scarce

1. Is Toyota maintainance really low cost?
Nowadays, I notice that replacement parts of Yota are on the high side if you choose the original OEM over Chinese
2. You get spare parts of the Honda in virtually every city in Nigeria
3. Fuel consumption of the Civic is incomparable with the Camry. Camry is a much bigger engine than Civic .
4. I think the Camry should be more rugged but then, what he's doing with the car will determine that. If just a regular 9-5 guy, no need for the bigger Camry unless he travels intermittently

Honda is equally as economical and almost as rugged as a Toyota too.
They are durable and easy to maintain as well so don't mind all the stereotypes here.
Honda is a very good car just make sure u have a good maintenance culture.
