Arrived in Lagos on Monday, but he can't do that in any part of south east state on Monday to show his popularity Wisefellow: I saw how Nigerians showed love, respect and appreciation towards arrival of Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi, during campaign visit to Computer Village, Ikeja Lagos.
Without inducement, Nigerians followed him around singing " Obi, Obi, Obi... "

You are loyal to your pocket instead of your conscience. You will be used and discarded. It's a matter of time.

Alcatraz001: When I was young and was being forced by my parents to go to school, I used to grumble and wonder why they were disturbing me.
But now that I have grown into the man I am, I now understand the usefulness of education. Being educated goes beyond just having a degree that enables you get paid employment. Education allows you make rational decisions that guide your very existence.
The reason why politicians and ruling class hate the educated is because the enlightened class can rise above ethnic and at times, religious sentiments to make very sound decisions.
Case in point; Tinubu and educated Yoruba youths. I can tell you for a fact that the only people supporting Tinubu in yorubaland now are as follows: 1. Muslims. 2. Thugs (definitely uneducated), 3. Illiterates, and 4. Those who just hate the Peter Obi because he’s igbo.
If the 4 set of people above, the support of Muslims in yorubaland is kind of justifiable because they see Tinubu as one of theirs and they feel they deserve to produce a Muslim president from the south too. I will address the flaw in their reasoning later.
For the other 3 set of Tinubu supporters in the SW, a careful examination of their cause for their choices will reveal the deleterious effect of illiteracy on any nation. This is because there is no rational reason why an individual like Tinubu should have supporters in any society where premium is placed on education. What can be the basis of support for such a man? He’s perniciously corrupt, he’s old and unfit both literally and health wise, he is a stain on the image of Nigeria., and a threat to National unity and security.
I used to dislike the igbos a lot before and the history of my messages on this board in the days of yore will evidence that dislike. But I grew out of it and quickly aligned with Peter Obi because he is clearly the best candidate. Not even tribalism could prevent me from making a rational choice having been presented with the choices we have as Presidential candidates. I could only have made that choice because I am educated and properly informed. The illiterates amongst us do not have the luxury of rational thought and ability to rise above ethnic and religious sentiments. Already, their backs are against the wall due to the lack of opportunity occasioned by their station in life. While I am not mocking them, I deeply resent the uneducated because they do not want to pay the price for an education. As the saying goes, if education is expensive, try ignorance. That is the situation Nigeria has found itself. The bitter truth is that the illiterates are more than the educated in Nigeria—so we will suffer from the tyranny of the majority.
I am an advocate for the full liberalization and privatization of the education sector to enable only those who can afford it to be educated. We need quality manpower to completely overhaul our civil service and critical institutions that will form the nucleus of a strong administrative state. We need our brightest and best to formulate and enforce strong regulations to lay the building blocks for a more efficient and prosperous Nigeria. I will address the requirements for the formation of a strong regulatory and administrative state on a later date.
With regard to the desires, if I may call it that, of our Muslim brothers in yorubaland for one of their own t be President, I think it is a just demand but definitely not with a candidate like Tinubu. We have other bright Muslims like Babatunde Raji Fashola and Femi Gbajabiamila just to name a few. Why should you want to foist a character like Tinubu on Nigerians just because you want a president of Yoruba Muslim extraction? Have you ever thought of our image abroad if we vote Tinubu as a President? How will he attend meetings of multilateral organizations like the AU, UN, IMF and others? He’s morally and physically unfit to undertake such onerous responsibilities as head of the executive branch of government. Being a president is a very hard job. You’re literally the head Nigga in charge of the executive branch in a presidential system of government. I’m sure that Tinubu has neither the cognitive or physical wherewithal to handle the task. I’m open to counter arguments though. What about the effect of his presidency on our green passport? Some of you might not be frequent travelers. Our passport is already an object of derision at various ports of entry all over the world. How do we explain to our friends and partners that we elected Tinubu as president? The US has classified and declassified records of his criminal conviction in the US. That already puts Nigeria at a disadvantage because Tinubu as President can be blackmailed to make decisions that will not favor Nigeria and Nigerians. Please let’s put sentiments aside and accept that of the 3 frontline candidates, Tinubu is the worst. We shall produce a Muslim president from the South very soon and it will be a very good choice.
Already, we know the numbers are not in Tinubu’s favor but he’s confident just because he feels he can buy his way into the office. The fact is that Tinubu doesn’t regard ordinary Nigerians and feels the Presidency is his. He’s a very rich and influential man and he doesn’t care if his ambition destabilizes Nigeria. Is that a good candidate? Even if some of us are young, don’t be sit down to wonder what kind of country we want to build? Already, our best minds have left the country. If Tinubu is successful in his quest to be president, the rest of the crème of southern youths will flee to even Togo. It would literally mean the enthronement of illiteracy, thuggery, bribery and all other vices. The decision on who to vote among the 3 leading candidates is really an easy one but illiteracy, bigotry and hate is the problem. I cannot jeopardize my own future and that of millions of Nigerians just because a fellow Yoruba man is contesting—even when I know he is unfit for office.
As a parting shot, I now understand why APC, the North and many politicians want to destroy the education sector in Nigeria completely. It is difficult to deceive an educated man because his enlightenment makes it easy for him to see through your bullshit.
I know my message won’t make sense to the several Muslim APC bots on Nairaland but I hope it resonates with someone out there. Nigeria is dying and we need to save her. but you won't doubt anyone that can bribe religious body education |
