PrettyCrystal: Family members and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members, who visited the arrested women remanded in Owerri Prisons earlier today, were banned and denied access to the women.
Armoured tanks were mounted at the entrance of the prison gate as the security agents, forced the visitors out.
According to reports, the only people allowed into the prisons for visitation, were those who came to see none IPOB members.
The compelled prison officials reportedly said they have been ordered not to allow visitors for the detained IPOB women.
The Deputy Controller of Prison was quoted as saying; " We have been ordered not to allow visitation of the IPOB Women remanded here. Take the Food back, until further notice".
All food items, drugs, clothes, were rejected by the prison officials and taken back home.

Politics › Re: Saraki: Tinubu Will Support Buhari On Hospital Stretcher To Succeed Him In 2023 by yazach: 5:18pm On Aug 20, 2018 |
ridwanomooba: The Tinubu Rhetoric: My Response, by Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki
I have always restrained from joining issues in the media with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and this is based on my respect for him. However, I will not allow him to create a wrong, false and mischievous impression about the reasons for my decision to exit the All Progressives Congress (APC) and present his prejudice as facts for public consumption.
I have been consistent in my complaints to all leaders of the APC, including Tinubu, that a situation where the National Assembly is not constructively engaged or carried along in key policy decisions, particularly those that will eventually require legislative approval, is not in the best interest of the nation. No genuine leader of the legislature will be comfortable that the Presidency will simply write a terse letter to the National Assembly on key issues which the federal legislature is expected to later deliberate upon and give its approval. The Buhari administration consistently treats the legislature with contempt and acts as if the lawmaking body should be an appendage of the Executive. To me, this is unacceptable.
In the same way, I find it very objectionable that many stakeholders who worked strenuously to get the administration into office have now been excluded in the government and not consulted on key decisions as necessary and expected. In fact, some of them are treated as pariahs. A party that ignores justice, equity and inclusion as basic pre-conditions for peace, unity and stability cannot sustain its membership and leadership.
Let me redirect the attention of the former Governor of Lagos State to the aspect of my July 31, 2018, statement announcing my exit from APC in which I emphasized that the decision "has been inescapably imposed on me by certain elements and forces within the APC who have ensured that the minimum conditions for peace, cooperation, inclusion and a general sense of belonging did not exist".
In that statement, I further noted that those APC elements "have done everything to ensure that the basic rules of party administration, which should promote harmonious relations among the various elements within the party were blatantly disregarded. All governance principles which were required for a healthy functioning of the party and the government were deliberately violated or undermined. And all entreaties for justice, equity and fairness as basic precondition for peace and unity, not only within the party, but also the country at large, were simply ignored, or employed as additional pretext for further exclusion. The experience of my people and associates in the past three years is that they have suffered alienation and have been treated as outsiders in their own party. Thus, many have become disaffected and disenchanted. At the same time, opportunities to seek redress and correct these anomalies were deliberately blocked as a government-within-a-government had formed an impregnable wall and left in the cold, everyone else who was not recognized as “one of us”. This is why my people, like all self-respecting people would do, decided to seek accommodation elsewhere".
Tinubu himself will recall that during the various meetings he had with me at the time he was pursuing reconciliation within the APC, I raised all the above issues. I can also vividly recall that he himself always expressed his displeasure with the style of the government and also mentioned that he had equally suffered disrespect from the same government which we all worked to put in office. I also made the point that whatever travails I have gone through in the last three years belong to the past and will not shape my decisions now and in the future.
However, during those meetings, the point of disagreement between Tinubu and I is that while I expressed my worries that there is nothing on ground to assure me that the administrative style and attitude would change in the next four years in a manner that will enable us to deliver the positive changes we promised to our people, he (Tinubu) expressed a strong opinion that he would rather 'support a Buhari on the hospital stretcher' to get a second term because in 2023, power will shift to the South-west. This viewpoint of Tinubu’s was not only expressed to me but to several of my colleagues. So much for acting in national interest.
It is clear that while my own decision is based on protecting the collective national interest, Tinubu will rather live with the identified inadequacies of the government for the sake of fulfilling and preserving his presidential ambition in 2023. This new position of Tinubu has only demonstrated inconsistency — particularly when one reviews his antecedents over the years.
Again, let me reiterate my position that my uncertain and complex relationship with Tinubu has been continually defined by the event of 2014 when myself and other leaders of the APC opposed the Muslim-Muslim ticket arrangement about to be foisted on the APC for the 2015 polls. It should be noted that he has not forgotten the fact that I took the bull by the horns and told him that in the interest of the country, he should accept the need for the party to present a balanced ticket for the 2015 General Elections in terms of religion and geo-political zones. Since that time he has been very active; plotting at every point to undermine me, both within and outside the National Assembly.
It is a surprise to me that Asiwaju Tinubu is still peddling the falsehood about the fact that my defection is about automatic ticket and sharing of resources. Members of the public will recall that when the issue of my decision to quit APC came to the fore and many APC leaders were holding meetings with me, a newspaper owned by the same Tinubu published a false report about the promise of automatic tickets, oil blocks and other benefits. I immediately rebutted their claims and categorically stated that I never discussed any such personal and pecuniary benefits with anybody. My challenge that anybody who has contrary facts should come forward with them still remains open.
It should be known that Democracy is a system that allows people to freely make their choices. It is my choice that I have decided to join others to present a viable alternative platform for Nigerians in the coming elections. Tinubu and leaders of the APC had better respect this decision or lawfully deal with it. As for me, Allah gives power to whom He wishes. Human beings can only aspire and strive to fulfill their aspirations.
Signed:
Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON President of the Senate Not only tinubu even myself and my family. So try to join that headache. They some flat heads will also support your stupidity even when that stupidity is obvious |

Politics › Re: Fayose Blows Hot Over Suspended Rivers Election by yazach: 9:00am On Aug 20, 2018 |
Bigmugu: @NAIRATREND.COM.NG
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has described Saturday’s by-election in Rivers State for Port Harcourt Constituency III State Assembly seat as “another sad reality that votes of Nigerians will not be allowed to count at the 2019 election as the elections will be held at gun-point to achieve predetermined results”.
INEC has suspended the election, citing “widespread violence”.
According to the Governor, despite the legacy of free, fair and credible conduct of elections bequeathed to the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria is in a state of anarchy, because of the desperation of a few people to retain power.
In a release issued on Sunday by Fayose’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, quoted him as saying, “it is worrisome that the same way they invaded Ekiti State with over 50,000 armed security personnel last month and laid siege on the State for a whole week was how they invaded Rivers State yesterday with men of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) that aided APC thugs to snatch election materials, including card readers and abduct INEC officials.
“Even INEC could not but point it out in its press statement announcing suspension of the election that miscreants and hoodlums accompanied by heavily armed security personnel in uniform stormed polling units, destroying and carting away electoral materials as well as holding electoral officers hostage.
“We thought that we have gone past this era of manipulated electoral process after the 2015 general elections, which brought the APC and President Buhari to power, the country has been taken back to the Stone Age by merging APC with INEC, police, military and other security agencies.”
The Ekiti Governor called for the arrest and prosecution of the policemen that took part in the shootings and snatching of election materials in Rivers State, saying “there are pictorial evidence of the policemen on the social media, the police authority must not sweep this under the carpet as usual.”
He said if an election in just 142 polling units was so militarized, with gunshots everywhere, “time has come for Nigerians to rise up to this challenge of making sure that the democracy that they fought for is not destroyed by those whose only interest is to retain power in 2019.”
The Governor said; “I warned Nigerians in 2015 and when this reign of tyranny started, I kept warning. Now; free, fair and credible election is dead in Nigeria and election has become what the ruling party must ‘win’ at gun-point.”
He challenged President Buhari to stop pretending as if he knew nothing about the electoral malfeasance going on under his watch, adding that “It is the interest of the President that is being protected and it is a disservice to a man who is close to 80 years to allow his country to be turned to a war zone just because he is seeking reelection.”

ManirBK: Parents of more than 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in 2014 have refuted claims by Reuben Abati, presidential spokesperson under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, that the Federal Government under the former leader had rescued many of the girls. The former aide had disclosed, during a television interaction with Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s special adviser on media and publicity, on Wednesday, that the girls were sent to study in the United States and the United Kingdom after their release. He said the then National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, advised Jonathan against publicising the release so as not to reveal the girls’ identities. He asked Adesina to verify his assertion from the DSS and the nation’s intelligence agency. While the two security outfits have yet to react to Abati, the chairman of Chibok Parents’ Association, Yakubu Nkenke, yesterday denied that any of the Chibok girls was found by the Jonathan administration. He said it was under the present administration that secured the release of 107 of the girls from the captors. Nkenke said even Amina Ali, the first among the abducted girls to be found, breathed the air of freedom after Buhari came to power. The parents expressed disgust at such a comment, saying Abati could only make sense if he meant that he and other officials of the Jonathan government freed some of the girls and held them away from their parents. “Does he mean they rescued some of the Chibok girls and are keeping them somewhere? If that is what he means, then they should immediately release the girls to us. “What we know is that the Buhari regime negotiated for and secured the release of all the girls we have with us now. Soon after their release, I was called to Abuja to identify them. These girls are currently at the American University of Nigeria, Yola under federal government’s full scholarship.” Nkenke called for continued efforts on the part of the Federal Government to free the remaining 112 girls still in captivity, saying some of the parents were traumatized while 32 had died. “We thank Baba Buhari for his commitment to get the girls, yet we call for more efforts to free the remaining girls,” he said. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/jonathan-did-not-rescue-any-girls-chibok-parents-266451.html You mean IPOB hero was lying

BoneBlogger: Yesterday, hundreds of women suspected to be members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), protested in Owerri, the Imo State capital, demanding the whereabouts of the missing IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kalu. They equally demanded a referendum for an Independent state of Biafra by the Federal Government.
The woman adorned in black attire with Biafra insignia such as flags and caps sang pro Biafra songs. They accused the Federal Government of “deliberately marginalising Biafran people”.
Trouble started at the Government House roundabout, Owerri, when policemen on sighting the demonstrators fired teargas canisters at them. The women defied the police action and continued with their march.
At Warehouse Junction, policemen in operational vehicles intercepted the women, fired another round of teargas canisters and arrested many of them.
While some of them fled to safety and started jeering at the policemen, the cops took the arrested protesters who are said to be 44 in number to the state command headquarters.
The CP said the protesters were arrested for unlawful assembly and disrupting the public peace, adding that they would be charged to court.

RMK19: After the recent bye election of Katsina North Senatorial district, APC candidate emerged as the winner of the election. It is President Buhari's senatorial zone. The contest was surprisingly between brothers, the elder Kabir Babba Kaita of PDP and the younger, Ahmad Babba Kaita of the APC. The PDP candidate however alleges massive voters inducement in the process and how dangerous it portends for the 2019 elections.
"The votes which I garnered in the election were genuine, devoid of any form of enticement either in terms of money or material things. The votes which the people cast for me, were purely based on the voters’ belief that I can deliver, based on my previous achievements in my community and in the larger society. For instance, at our ward, Galadima Ward A, I scored 179 while the APC candidate scored 110. And people say charity begins at home. For people to accept you outside, you must be good and accepted in your home.’" ... "The APC government, both at the state and at the federal levels, was involved in vote buying. I did not lose that election. It was widely in circulation that over N1bn was (allegedly) used by the ruling party, (the APC) on that election alone. Half a million naira was also said to have been (allegedly) earmarked for each of the 1,825 polling units in the senatorial district. This huge amount of money was supposed to be used to enhance the lives of the people of the state. Instead, the money was wrongly used to buy votes and in a very, very undemocratic manner. This development actually, did not speak well of a ruling party, which is claiming to be fighting corruption. This has clearly shown that corruption is at its peak by what we saw at the polling units on that day, during the election."
