A young boy from Jigawa state has emerged has the student with the highest score in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for 2018. The boy identified as Aliyu Muhammad Sani Kaugama scored 311.

The student had finished his secondary school education at the academy for the gifted and talented Bamaina School.

Kaugama has become the talk of town since he came out on top with the perfect exam score.

Many Nigerians have called on Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state to sponsor the brilliant student’s education. The governor was asked to support Kaugama’s education abroad in other to help the student reach maximum potential.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday arrested a Methodist Reverend, Mr Chuka Egwuonwu, for allegedly extorting N126,000 from candidates to aid malpractices.
Mr Patrick Ukpan, Commandant, NSCDC, FCT Command, while presenting the suspect to newsmen in Abuja, said the suspect who owns a CBT centre called Diamond ICT Centre was arrested in Abia State.

Ukpan said that the arrest was made possible through the help of CCTV mounted in the centre and controlled from the Abuja headquarters of the JAMB.

“It was observed that they were extorting money from candidates. The centre have extorted about N126,000.

“Each candidate was asked to pay N1,000 for what we do not know but this is a criminal act.

“Based on that, he was arrested; JAMB examination that is being conducted now has camera and live transmission of activities are taking place there straight to the headquarters of JAMB.

“Whatever activities are taking place at the centres are being monitored live and based on those monitoring devices that they we were able to corroborate their intelligence regarding the extortion of money.

“The suspect was subsequently arrested and brought down to Abuja.”

He added that the corps would continue its investigation to get to the route of the alleged crime, adding that other collaborators would also be arrested if there are any.

In his response, Egwuonwu admitted that some coordinators collected money from the students but found out in his investigations that the act was committed outside his centre.

The suspect said those who extorted the money from the candidates were not his staff.

“While trying to make inquiry, I discovered the crime was committed but before I could take further action to unravel it, the NSCDC was already there to arrest me.”

Also, Mr Fabian Benjamin, Head of Media, JAMB, said there was a link between the suspect’s centre and the tutorial centre that extorted money from candidates.

Benjamin, who recalled an incidence of protest by some centres in Lagos demanding the extension of registration till May, said the tutorial centres were there to extort the students which informed their protest.

“These centres want to have enough time for the registration of JAMB so as to have enough time to extort the students,” he said.

He said the arrest had confirmed the board’s suspicious that the tutorial centres were after exploitation.

The JAMB spokesman added that the tutorial centres were damaging the integrity of education in the country.

He called on stakeholders to take interest in education, develop interest in the activities of JAMB to curb malpractices and change the narrative of education.
In a similar development, the Corps had also arrested one Miss Udoh Akpabio and her accomplice for alleged examination malpractice in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Akpabio was caught with a phone concealed in her underwear, while the examination was on at Baptist Academy, Karu.

Also, caught was Andrew Etziuzala, who was said to be aiding Akpabio in the cheating process.

The two suspects were caught with the aid of Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), which sends live transmission of activities going on within the examination halls to the JAMB headquarters. (NAN)

Buhari in a statement on Friday confirming the abduction of the girls described the situation as a national disaster while assuring parents of safety of their wards.

Bishop of the Enugu Ecclesiastical Province of Anglican Communion, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma, has said no South East governor will be allowed to give land to terrorists in any guise.

He anchored his claim on the fact that herdsmen were worse than separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, adding that the move was aimed at Islamising Nigeria.


Addressing reporters at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd in Enugu, the clergyman said herdsmen were armed, dangerous and as such, are a threat to farmers.

According to Chukwuma, “We cannot have colony for terrorists; people that are dangerous, who have guns and other dangerous equipment for killing and maiming our people and farming will become difficult.

“Very soon, farming will start, how can you have colony when you have farmers ready to go to farm and are scared because of herdsmen. Something needs to be done by the government and security agencies to make everywhere secured and to make everybody join in agriculture which the government is talking about.

“Cattle colony is another agenda for Islamizing Nigeria. Forget about what they said, once anybody or state has the colony, they will continue to impregnate people and they will begin to expand. We don’t want that. I have stayed in the North and have never seen where their cows are being reared all over the place. Cattle rearing is a private business.


“As far as I am concerned, no governor in South East will accept and should accept any colony for any cattle rearer because they have become dangerous and we don’t know what they might become tomorrow. They are dangerous and I say, they are worse than IPOB. They should be described as a terrorist group too.”

These types are based on where the hole or tear is in the vagina and which organ the tract connects to. Fistulas need to be addressed by a medical professional and treated.

The type of vaginal fistula seen most often is known as a vesicovaginal fistula. The hole for this type is between your urinary bladder and your vagina. The following is a list of the other types of fistulas and where the tear occurs in the vagina:

Ureterovaginal fistula occurs between the vagina and ureter(s), which move urine to your bladder from your kidneys.
Rectovaginal fistula occurs between the vagina and the rectum (near the end of the colon). This may happen during childbirth, but primarily occurs in developing countries without easy or any access to obstetric care. Vaginal gas is one symptom of a vaginal fistula. Other symptoms depend on the size and type of fistula that you have, but here are some symptoms to look for:

There are not many things you can do to prevent vaginal gas. It is usually a symptom of other conditions or a natural occurrence during sexual activity. Even in vaginal gas that occurs due to sexual activity, there may be nonsurgical treatment options that might help stop it from happening.

WHEN TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR
When to see your doctor

Vaginal gas created during sexual activity is nothing to be concerned about. It’s not a symptom of a medical condition. However, if you’re experiencing vaginal gas at times that are not directly related to sexual activity you should see your doctor. Your doctor can determine if you have a vaginal fistula or whether another medical issue is causing it. Fistulas usually require surgery to repair. If they are not treated or repaired, they may lead to more serious complications if left untreated.

Outlook

The Government of Benue State on Thursday confirmed that two pregnant women and a man died in Makurdi, Benue State result of Lassa fever.

According to the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Cecilia Ojabo, one of the pregnant women was confirmed positive when her blood sample was sent to a specialist hospital in Irua area of Edo State.
She said the patient commenced treatment for Lassa fever at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi but died in the process of undergoing treatment.

“There was another instance of a young man, an indigene of Benue State who had Lassa fever and died in Lagos State.
“We were duly informed about his death and the corpse was thereafter transmitted back to Benue State for burial.”

Ojaba also disclosed that a patient from the Guma Local Government Area of the state manifested late symptoms of Lassa fever when he started bleeding from the nose, ears and mouth.

According to her, the victim was admitted to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital but before doctors could obtain his blood sample for the test at Irua, he died.

She confirmed that a second pregnant woman died “this morning” (Thursday) after showing symptoms of the disease.

“Just this morning, l got a report from the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi that another suspected case of Lassa fever was recorded and they were advised to take the patient to the infection unit in the teaching hospital but on their way to the hospital, the patient died with her pregnancy,” Ojabo stated.

The commissioner said seven persons close to the victims had been quarantined.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has decried the support of the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and South-East governors for the recent military Operation Python Dance that unleashed mayhem on a non violent organization that it is, as well as the entire South East and South South, saying Federal Government’s inaction to herdsmen attacks and killings in the Middle Belt, would have served as a lesson and an eye opener to its duplicity.

The group wondered why Ohanaeze and governors of Southeast endorsed the attack on IPOB by military armored tanks in the name of operation Python dance while no Hausa\Fulani governor or Arewa Consultative Forum has condemned or spoken out against the killer herdsmen.

The media and publicity secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, in a statement yesterday said that the deployment of soldiers to Benue, Taraba and other states to tame the menace of herdsmen by the federal government has been belated after much havoc had been done and many lives wasted in the areas.

According him, “Have you heard a single word of condemnation from any Hausa Fulani governor or Arewa Consultative Forum against these killer herdsmen? The answer is a capital no. Maybe there is a lesson here to be learned by Igbo politicians and Ohaneze Ndigbo.

“This government is currently in the midst of deceit but unfortunately some people are being taken in by their lies. It took pressure from all over the world to get this administration to agree to this paper deployment because we know it’s not real.

“The best remedy for the murderous mayhem of the terrorists is to divide Nigeria. Anybody still habouring the hope of one united prosperous Nigeria is living in a fool’s paradise. Unfortunately, this belatedly announced Operation Cat race or whatever they named it, to deal with a band of hardened state sponsored terrorists is totally meaningless. People will continue to die needlessly until Nigeria is divided.

“The deployment of troops to beleaguered Benue communities is a fraud designed to hoodwink the masses into thinking that this administration is serious about fighting the menace of Fulani herdsmen which they created through their policy of acquiescence and appeasement.

“These so called troops allegedly deployed to Benue are all staffed by Fulani officers who as usual will provide protection and cover for the tribesmen who are doing the killing. The world witnessed the same scenario in Southern Kaduna in 2016\17 or we have, suddenly forgotten. Did Nigerian Army not allegedly supply murderous herdsmen with arms with which they massacred and sacked non Muslim villages in Southern Kaduna?”


Despite the outlawed group’s strong words, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Southeast governors and other prominent leaders of the region have consistently expressed belief and support for a united Nigeria.
