What makes you think that I don’t want a good governor, mayor etc?

You are trying hard to sound intelligent but missing the mark.

It looks like you are just reading a poem, your post has nothing to do with the topic here.

The last part of your litany is the only one that has meaning and my answer is, should we then give up and not try an alternative especially when lives are at stake?

nairalanda1:
Seriously, you are not ready for good government.

You want a good president, but you don't want a good governor, good local government chairman, good councilor or even a good local teacher or policeman.

Good presidents don't work in isolation. They work with other good people.

(Anyway, I am not too optimistic about this leadership we have, really....and I can confidnetly say the same about the oppositon).

Finally, you don't want to do the work of a good citizen. You don't want to run for office, you don't want to hold people to account , you don't want to struggle and form a party.

It's only babies that sit down and wait to be fed by Mother Bird. When the baby is old enough, Mother bird will kick them out of the nest and go mate with another male bird to produce more chicks...to repeat the process. Oh, and the chicks kicked out have to look for food.

And the thing is, you and many other people are waiting for 'ideal conditions' like BIafra , Odua, Sharia, restructuring, etc, to get good government. Truth be told, if you get all these, you will still see the same old story. Bad govenrment, bad people.

Leave this nest. I should too. cheesy..before the mother bird wonders why she is still feeding a bird that is 60 years old in bird age.
PoliticsRe: Why We Must Allow US Military Base In Yorubaland by ycat(op):
Everyone wants it but Nigeria will NEVER get there. We have a good president like Tinubu who will go down as the best we ever had but Nigeria will still not work. You don’t put goats, chickens, dogs, wolves and pigs in the same pen and expect peace.

You are not ready for good government at all.

Stop comparing apples to oranges.

The stupid countries that one is forcing journalists into military and another adopting a foreign language as official language in 2024 and now bringing in new slave masters are what you want to compare with Yoruba?
The African countries who expelled French and the US are a different ball game.
Did you hear about any agreements they signed? Were they there for protection? Yoruba will go the way of the countries I listed, strictly DEFENSE.

lionphil:
Go and find out why african countries are expelling the west before you start praying for another evil to befall you.

The US base will never be attacked and they will never come to your aid when fulani attacks. They are only after the resources your region has to offer. Read history before bringing a curse upon your people.
PoliticsRe: Why We Must Allow US Military Base In Yorubaland by ycat(op): 7:46pm On May 09, 2024
What kind of peace are we talking about here? Peace of the graveyard is what is in Yorubaland at the moment. Why must Yoruba die in slavery? Why can’t we strive to give better life to ourselves and children?

Nigeria will never let Yoruba reach the feet of our greatness, we need help to break free. Trillions of money is leaving Yorubaland for Abuja while your elderly are begging on the streets of Lagos and Ibadan. Yoruba have enough money to put our elderly on social security but Nigeria won’t let us. This is for humanity.

flokii:
South West is largely peaceful.. a foreign Military base will be best suited for South East to restore peace and order to the region and end every Mondays sit-at-home.

You just told us the ailments you are battling, get help first before you come and jump head first in topics that are over your head. US military bases are the reasons those countries I listed haven’t been attacked and are they slaves of the Americans to your defeatist brain? You are already a slave to your inferiors in Nigeria, so what do you have to lose exactly?

They are in over half a dozen countries and are obeying the law. That’s what agreements are for.

Sadly if you understand that the moment you allow a foreign country's base on your soil, you literally hand them the reins of power! America has a penchant for undermining democracy... In a subtle manner especially if the govt. in power doesnt dance to their tune. So i dont think it is a good idea in the long run
PoliticsRe: Why We Must Allow US Military Base In Yorubaland by ycat(op): 6:54pm On May 09, 2024
That your dream will never happen in Nigeria. You can’t build a skyscraper on a bungalow foundation, the only thing that will help Nigeria is separation or regional govt. We are too different to have a common front and we don’t want the same thing. You can’t have 3 or more captains operating a ship at the same time, so we must return to the drawing board.

If president Tinubu with all the knowledge and track record of running a great govt could struggle to straighten Nigeria, imagine what an imbecilic fool like Peter Obi would have done, the idiott would simply have sold Nigeria to China and gone home to Akpu.

Thank God for Tinubu, at least we are slowly getting out of the ditch the past administration put us in.

With what we have now, Yoruba need US military base for protection so we can stand up without fear and take charge of our destiny.
nairalanda1:
You don't need a millitary base...you need to vote in a government that would make Nigeria's economy diversified, and industrial, so that jobless people will not roam around killing other jobless people...because they are too busy making made in Nigeria cars and phones in Ibadan, Awka and Sokoto. Or making made in Nigeria computers in Bauchi, Calabar and Akure...or making tractors in Katsina, Keffi, and Makurdi.

But you people want someone that will share money for you, yes, you and the obidients, and even the northerners. Not someone who would put your money to work for you.

I believe it’s true, though I don’t hang around people who talk about other people because I know they will talk about me too. I believe you though because one day I walked with my sister to an African store where the first thing we heard was “one man sleeping with another man’s wife” they didn’t know that we understand the language. They were speechless when my sister asked for the price of yam in their language.

Talking about people who haven’t done anything to you is insecurity. They use topics about others to cover up the plenty subjects on their own lives, they need to put other people down to feel better about who they are.

Good to know that they are just 5%. As long as you keep eyes on them you will be fine. As far as I’m concerned, the Dutch are the only problem South Africa has and it seems you are hot on their heels, unlike Nigeria with bazillion problems from being brainwashed that English is better than their own language, not to talk about hate among tribes. Ghana has a local language as the official language but Nigeria can’t because of hate. A country where your children are not allowed to learn their own history, is that even a country? Don’t even bother yourself, South Africa has so much on Nigeria.
zhike:
Indeed South Africans needs to find a way to neutralise the powers dutch people have in the economy.
Dutch people are less than 5 percent of South African population.

Before 1994 blacks had nothing but now most of the economy is sitting with black people.
Yes, few whites are super rich and we continue taking their wealth slowly, remember we won't take things by force like Zimbabwean because we are afraid of sanctions.

PoliticsWhy We Must Allow US Military Base In Yorubaland by ycat(op):
Yorubaland is surrounded by people who hate us and want to kill us and take over our land. Our people are maimed and killed for going to farm. Yoruba are the No.1 victims of police and all kind of brutalities in Nigeria, all by design. People can’t walk freely without getting kidnapped. Nigerian has been fighting bokoharam as long as I can remember with no success and the same bokoharam are recruited in the Nigerian army. Nigeria is already at war and we Yoruba are the only ones always depicted as children among Nigerian tribes in drawings because we act like kids and the least prepared for what’s coming. We need a strong arm of the US, though Americans have their own problem but not to the level of the kind of threat Yoruba face in Nigeria where we are slaves. President Tinubu was destroyed outside Nigeria just because he’s a Yoruba man. With their security, Yoruba can now exercise our God-given freedom without fear of Nigerian soldiers descending on us and our Obas can step into their power and get out from under the shadow of the govt. We need help to face what is ahead. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and the greatest crime president Tinubu would commit against Yoruba is not to allow this opportunity. If we are attacked for allowing the US base, it’s a quick way to get to where we are going. A dangerous freedom is better than peaceful slavery.

These are just a few of the countries with US military bases for protection.

Serious discussion?
Do you even know what those are?

I feel like you are just throwing words around and reading something off your wall and posting it here. If you really know what you posted is, you will know that president Tinubu has taken those head on.

I think you just want to criticize him for the sake of it and not on his performance, yes no leader is perfect but given the situation Nigeria was in, president Tinubu has over performed.

This shows you are not ready to have a serious discussion.

I spoke about local investment and foreign investment. I spoke about public sector reform and institutional reform. You have said nothing about these issues.

PoliticsRe: QatarEnergy Not Drawn To Nigeria Despite Tinubu Visit by ycat: 4:27am On May 08, 2024
See ehn! If it’s easy, Nigeria would have been fixed long time ago when there was money and not left broke and penniless before president Tinubu. He’s the only politician with what it takes and has shown us in the past, so if he can’t do it, then bid Nigeria farewell. President Tinubu has done better than anyone in the condition the country was in, Nigeria was literally parked in a ditch when he took office and in debts to its eyeballs. If the presidents who met tens of $billions in the federation and excess crude accounts couldn’t do anything, give credit to a man who is pinching $millions to run the country. If it were OLODO Peter Obi, you would have been using ashes to make Akpu by now, so put your pain of losing election aside and face fact. President Tinubu is the best for the job and we thank God for bringing him in for such a time as this to manage what would have been a catastrophe if it was the alternative rat.
Fujiyama:
^^^
And there lies the problem.

The man may be well versed in the dark arts of 3rd 5th world country politics but politics won't fix our economic problems.

He can't unlock local investment and he's having great difficulty attracting foreign investment in the volumes needed. He has a broken economy to fix and time is not on his side. He has also completely avoided the public sector reform and institutional reform that is crucial to getting this economy on a sustainable growth path. Crony capitalism is no capitalism!

To complicate things, those initial policy blunders he made have proved very, very costly and their effects will not be easily reversed.

He over promised and so far he has under delivered - and that's entirely his fault.

Story! If you have ports like ours, you won’t be saying it, we will be seeing it. Stop saying it, show me! There’s a reason they were never viable in the first place. You will still have to come through Yoruba ports and then transfer to barges to proceed to your glorified river ports.

Lagos to Ado Ekiti and everything between is all mine as a Yoruba person, so it’s none of your business where I claim. You have a region too and we don’t care which part you of it you claim because your region adds no value to me. The only reason you are fixated on Yoruba is because we are your lifeline. Yoruba’s money is what Nigeria is run on and that’s why none of you wants to leave Nigeria.

Btw, Lagos and Ogun are my states. An unadulterated, unfooled around-with ALL Yoruba blood, SWAAG!

Omo na express road u dey enter oooo, south south has how many ports ? One in Delta, two in Port Harcourt, one in Calabar and all south south stated have boundary with the Atlantic do you know what that means?

I'm addition, south south has abundance of oil assets. Imagine the crude oil money shared by everyone to only belong to the south south region? Just imagine. I can tell you for sure south south has nothing against it for it to stand toe to toe with any striving nation of the world, it is located strategically along a major sea route which will position it for global trade.

What does the south west have that the south south doesn't have? Don't forget the southwest you are bragging about is just Lagos state which has had plethora of wealth lifted from the Niger Delta region into its building by virtue of it been the capital of the Federation. What else are you bragging about? Lagos was built by the resources from my region and other regions and including the south west region resources but my region is solely built by our the little peanut given to us from the large chunk we produce.

Make bold to mention your state and let's do comparison with mine. Be claiming Lagos when you are from ado ekiti, ungrateful lot that want to fight the fingers that fed them.

Nothing but FACTS and that’s why Nigeria will NEVER work!

South Africa too has a big problem hanging on its head with how they are handling the Dutch among them. I know some will say they are just 20%, but it won’t take 20 years to neuter the indigenous population, kill off a generation and increase births among themselves. They are going to make their white only town a country, so they will be able to buy enough weapons to destroy South Africans, I still don’t understand how they allow the descendants of colonialists to stay and carved a city that will soon be a country for themselves. These people should never be called whites or South Africans because they are not, they are Dutch and that’s what should stick on them. Now that South Africans are in charge of the country, why are the Dutch still holding on to the land they stole? They need to take the land back and lease to them renewable every 5 years, including that of Irano or whatever their white only city is called.

No land for sale in Lekki area since 1994 or 1996 according to a reliable source. Most land were sold before then but not allocated. Lands purchased after were resold with fake documents. The original buyers hold the real govt receipts. I remember some acres of land given to my maternal grandma through the ministry of agriculture in Badagry years ago. I knew of it when some uncles and aunts were fighting over who should get more of the land for paying for it. The land was given to my grandma but it was her children that paid after maybe 25 years later. I don’t know how that worked or if grandma made down payment or anything like that, but it almost caused a big problem in the family.
