Its time to do things the right way

Unfortunately the latter seems to be true considering the awful statistics of church folks, especially the youths being reached everyday from Hollywood to Nollywood through the world’s most attractive and celebrated platform-MUSIC
There seems to be a great omission in our primary assignment to reach the lost world, this of course is anchored to a lot of things ranging from our unscriptural doctrines to our religious approach to God and His word, this has not only left the church paralyzed but her auditoriums are packed full of victims of ambassadors raised by the devil who have crawled through the back into the hearts with music to steal, kill and to destroy our own. When did the church become a victim of what she is called to do –WORSHIP?
The most influential language, culture, lifestyles and fashion in this age is still music and of course it’s most radical and most influential part-HIPHOP and R &B


How on earth would the church win the world if she’s not willing to contest with her most influential and biggest market of souls? To deny the influence of hip hop in our culture, our church and our children and the streetz is to deny the great commission, in fact, our Sunday school youths are the leaders of the gang back in the universities, and they are Christians only on Sundays! History shows that the world’s most notorious atheist and seductresses were raised in the church choir. Hip hop is a reality, a year “3” Unilag girl is controlled by it, a final year boy once died by it, I watched a 6 year old girl wiggle her waist, she can’t wait to be the next African shakira! Shakira!!
It seems to me that though they go to church, yet they are enslaved by a culture, though Joyce Meyer’s sermon gets them to cry, Rihana is still their model, yes! T.D Jakes is still an inspiration to them, yet Akon is making an altar call on their inside. The devil knows one thing-that the church is so blessed with gifted people and talented individuals but what I don’t understand is how we have allowed him to recruit men from the church.

When did the church lose the battle and gave up, the last or the present generation? It’s MAY DAY church! The beauty of Zion is fading out…but guess what the church has to say – it’s devil’s music…WOW! But I heard when the church screamed from her altar that the devil is not a problem! That the devil is not sovereign, I also heard when Paul said “he is resident under my feet” (the fullness of him that filleth all in all). Hip hop and R&B are definitely from  and of God, the last time I checked, the devil does not have anything to his name except wiles(methodia)…and without Him(Jesus) was anything made that was made, so when did hip hop become the devils music?…I’ll answer that- since the church  said it! The devil I know operates the sphere of allowance given him.


Hey!  I’m not talking about music genre*****, I’m talking about the spirit that has been allowed to control it. Why should a Christian be labeled devilish because of his gifts and talents? A Christian is one with God. Passion is a gift from God, and a signal to something bigger, its purpose is a gift to God, to some He gave apostles, prophets, but to others He gave the gift of exhortation and ministration. Now, is Ministration or even 5-fold Ministry about style? Or is it simply about the message, the lyric, the vessel and ultimately the Spirit in the vessel? I thought it was to edify, not the style; I thought it was God as far as it glorifies Jesus, consistent with scripture and impacts faith.


David is not really viewed as a prophet but he did sing prophetic songs like, the death of Jesus, how much He was to be sold, the sharing of the garment, and so on, , what if Dave was a rapper, what if he sang rhythm and blues, would you rather receive the prophecy or reject it because of the style with which he presents it, Or is it simply the spirit in him?
When did the church start dictating to the TRINITY what is right or wrong? I’ll answer that too! Since her LITANY wasn’t strong enough to retain her youths. Don Moen and Brother Ron substituted their litany, Kirk substituted his country music. Has the church backslidden as a result of this? No! Rather, God is using a different tool for a different kind of harvest, different revelation that can touch a new generation.

That’s why orthodoxy has lost 85% of its youth to Pentecostals and evangelicals. Are these two devilish? No! Neither is it liturgy, but void of what this generation was designed for, Ministry is not about the style but pretty much about the spirit that rules it, Christianity can’t be faked, its one Spirit, one Lord and one Faith!

Peter! Don’t call what God designed for a generation devil’s music, unholy or unacceptable, devils music? What would have happened to the entire human race if Jesus had called hell devil’s hell and refused to go there? Jesus said and I quote “wisdom is known by her children,” children here means fruitfulness, what a law! Wisdom is directly proportional to fruitfulness. UN may be worried about the skyrocketing population of the world and China’s birth rate, but as for the lost, God has got increase on His mind that’s why we call it a great commission and a ministry of reconciliation and every one deserves to hear it. I sense a huge harvest of soul coming, to deny hip hop is to reject the great commission; to neglect it is to neglect its victims. Apparently, the problem with hip hop is no more the devil cuz we can always put him back in his place, the problem now is the religious church.

Violence, sex and drugs are everywhere on the streetz because the airwaves are busy splashing it every day, unfortunately, you can’t rise above what you listen to.

An average Nigerian hip hop artiste and aspiring ones are school drop outs, why? they grew up listening to drop outs like Tupac and B.I.G, who dropped out of school, made it with guns, loved by women because they sell drugs and robbed banks, a Naija popular artiste proudly said “he is a drop out”, My respect to those gifted soloists who sincerely want to go but could not enroll in school due to lack of dough, you are the reason for this revolution! Another one in America called himself NOTORIOUS, these are your children’s heroes, being religious to your finger tips won’t solve the problem. The question is not the style it’s about what it has done to our youths, check the radio now! I mean now! The air is splashing sex adverts, the albums reading “come turn me on”,  words demeaning women to a intimacy gadget and of course the ghetto fabulous life style, the saggy jeans { a prison culture}, the rag shirts with vulgar messages, the F-words, H-words, the pleasures derived from derogatory words, ‘O Ri E O FO KA SI BE’, the ladies’ T-shirts that reads ‘come grab it’, ‘ I am A slot’,, I am so cheap,  “I’m fortunate! I am not a virgin”, Hey I am describing your children, your cousins, perhaps your neighbors and friends, maybe your choir coordinator or the usher in your church. We all are victims one way or the other.


Hip hop and R&B are but a polluted gift from God that the church has allowed the unrighteous generation to make unholy. The adversary knows that if he can destroy today’s youth, then he has tomorrow in check. He knows our youth are still the best conduit for revival-unfortunately, the church doesn’t know this but I hear in my spirit that it’s time for the beauty of Zion to come out, it’s time to give our youths a God alternative, they don’t have to smoke Ganja they don’t have to be drop outs or gun carriers, it’s time to fight with music, south Africa did it, let the church try it. Holy God! Holy Church! Holy Gift! Holy Hip hop and R&B…nothing else. it’s time for a proliferation of the kingdom culture into the streets, it’s time to build the bridge between the church and the street.


Shhh!,, I am not talking about WAISTERS of God’s agenda who have refused to evangelize the next generation, afraid to call Jesus in their albums of over 300,000 words, because they are broke. They have refused to stand out, no evangelistic goal or lyric! What does a dope addict in need of Jesus get from a ‘be be nlo song? There is NOTHING CHRISTian about it, fame!  Money! I smell poverty is their motivation, really how is a multimillion-dollar record company going to take JESUS music that is not of this world?  Amy Grant said, “Even if it doesn't say Jesus, it doesn't matter.”

There is an essential part of the gospel that’s not ever going to sell. The gospel is good news, but it is also bad news to haters, and if that’s taken out—and it’s frequently a Christian music— it ceases to be the gospel… now that’s what makes us Christ ambassadors
After all, CHRISTian means "a follower, believer of   Jesus Christ”. Martin Luther puts it bluntly — "whoever does NOT want to sing and speak of it shows that he does not believe it". Today is the beginning of the rise in tide, no more shades of gray! You are either BLACK OR WHITE.
Let me speak my piece, hip hop and R&B has a future in the Church in Nigeria, I feel it in the depths of my womb, I ain’t talking about what has been but what shall be. I am talking about the purpose of God embroidered in hip hop and R&B making it a holy culture and a recipe for the next generation revival. It is time to burst the kingdom culture!
