TheSonOfMark: Aha! Just when I was about to type a scathingly blunt remark, I stumbled on this - an exact projection of what I felt, what I still feel.
This isn't beautiful. Beauty isn't automatically a function of your skin colour. The chin, eye, lips , earlobes structures are requisites for having a beautiful face.
Kelly Rowland is dark-skinned but I dare opine she's more beautiful than Ellen DeGeneres who's white.
Genevieve is more beautiful than Cossy Orjiakor who's fairskinned.
Save us the politically correct hogwash! Not all black is beauty! This girl is beautiful pls. I'm not saying this because of her skin tone. Look at her face. Big bold eyes and perky lips... |

MichaelBlake40: I can see that that's where the problem lies.May i remind you that the view that exam is a test of knowledge is flawed.Best in exam iz not the same as best in class/course.I have seen this myself.Anybody can cram for exams, write and pass.Besides what if you marry a degree holder who after marriage you realize is not as educated as you thought what are you going to do? Well its a matter of choice. My argument is not solely based on a degree but more on education. I can tell within a 5minute conversation an educated person from an illiterate. It's not rocket science. |

grossintel: The lack of happiness in my sister's marriage is simply because she and her husband don't reason alike. I had to quote your exact words to show you don't agree with yourself. Why your sister and her husband don't reason alike is a simple case of Individual personality: Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Same reason you didn't marry a course mate of yours from Northen Nigeria who believes in polygamy. But isn't he educated? You can marry a lawyer and reason alike when it comes to sections of the constitution that should be amended, but not general facts of life. I know a lady who married a lawyer husband after dating him for 10 years (began dating from sec school), they went to the same uni and graduated the same year. She went to law school and he turned to business trading on woods. Today he's a politician ( I won't mention his name because he is well recognized in Rivers state). This man hits his wife on every slightest provocation, he almost onces strangled her to death over the use of Facebook (He believes a married woman has no business on social media). He once threatened to kill me for aiding refuge to his wife. This is a lawyer husband married to a lawyer wife but thinks he can shoot anyone because he's a politician and nothing will happen. What you simple did here was to combine a number of factors that could make two people compatible and group it under education (the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university.). I'm sure you certainly agree with me on this. What inflencese the views of a northern? Is it not their Islamic religion? That's very clear na. Of course I can't marry a Muslim. We won't make a good union because of our differences. Like I said my sister's ideology is influenced by her education which her husband does not share. |

grossintel: And you simply concluded it's over a degree or "no university exposure" A happy marriage can never be profounded on education but individual deferences, that determines your compatibility scale with your partner. You completely forgot Nigeria is a very religious county. I'm an atheist and totally believe in no religion, what do you think will happen if I marry a religious woman who thinks she can change me? (they always believe they can). There are many factors to consider that could ignite a bad mix in marriage: Sex drive Tolerance Temperament Religion Personality Ideology Length of Acquaintance Age Attitudes Common Interests Communication Roles Children Reasons for Marriage
There are tons of factors to consider, some can totally break up a marriage example a childless or sex-starved marriage, consider that before concluding it's over a degree! The lack of happiness in my sister's marriage is simply because she and her husband don't reason alike. Her views are more enlightened and civil, influenced largely by her education. His are more archaic and obsolete. Due to the lack of exposure that comes with education. He feels he can treat his wife any way he pleases. He is even of the view that he can kill her because he paid her bride price! To him she has no basic human rights! Now if he married an illiterate she could tolerate such because she knows no better. But for a well read woman it's unimaginable. This is the point am stressing. I've witnessed it first hand. AN EDUCATED WOMAN AND AN UNEDUCATED MAN IS A BAD MIX! Except he was the same exposure through reading and experience but for one reason or the other could not get a degree. For example. My husband and I were in uni together. We both studied law. I've since gone to law sch and become a lawyer but my hus has been unable to go due to business. However he has read all the law school courses. He also worked in the court for 10years after his waec. He is by far more experienced than me in law processes but is not a lawyer. In this instance he has been educated by his experience and exposure. We reason alike and share the same views. |

Peachess: God thank you for this comment, you need to see the way I've been insulted just for stating my preference. I'm trying explain all these things you've said but they choose to call me names. I don't blame them tho, they're just pained. My dear don't blame them. Our young men need serious orientation about marriage. None of them have experienced what they talking about. They think once a man has money he can get any woman he wants and she would be happy. Dead wrong! There is more to marriage than money. I turned down men who were by far more successful than my hus because of COMPATIBLITY!! In most cases an educated woman and an uneducated man are incompatible. Money and success cannot create compatibility. My sister and her husband reason on 2 different levels. Her views are more enlightened and civil. His are archaic and obsolete. I believe if he married a woman who shares his views and if she married a man who share her views which is largely influenced by her education, they would both be more happy.... |

Joemavel: You're only partially right, i can stand any graduate any day, am that learned without a degree.
Your sister married an illiterate probably, there are illiterates and there are literates without a degree. There need to be a time where we draw the line btw the word illiterate because many degree holders are too while non degree holders like me can be considered literate. Pple only ask me where i schooled not thinking i don't own a degree. Yea
In a world where information is wildely accessible now. I agree with u. My grandma never went to sch but she was certainly educated. My sister married an illiterate. Not illiterate as in inability to read and write but in the sense that he views are barbaric. |

Marriage is not all about money and success. You want to marry a person whom u share common ground with and reason alike. An educated woman with a non educated man is a bad mix! 1. His ego: everything she says will be met with "because I no go school abi" no matter her purest of intentions. 2: no amount of money can give a person the experience and exposure from the four walls of a university.
My sister with a masters degree married an oil worker with no university exposure.... that marriage is just hell to say the least! There sense of reasoning is on two completely different levels. |

Peachess: No, fucking way, I can't do that. You don't expect me to go through the stress of getting a degree, then settling with someone lesser than I am. The truth is, there's always going to be jealousy and so many annoying shit like that. I want someone that reasons better than me, that I can have a reasonable conversation with. Most educated people can't even have a reasonable conversation not to talk of a school dropout. My dear I agree completely with u. Marriage is not all about money and success. You want to marry a person whom u share common ground with and reason alike. An educated woman with a non educated man is a bad mix! 1. yeyerolling: which bsc does indimi, ahmed musa or emenike have . Having a bsc doesnt make u a beta or worse person. In the uk (who colonised us) secondary school education is seen as enuf. A female doc can marry a gardner or cleaner. And no fuss wud be made of it. We really have a long way to go in nigeria. Some have bsc they cant speak or write good english. All those expats in julius berger, cappa and d alberto, and those oil workers in PH . most dont have bsc just vocational courses. Smh for nigeria o Have u checked the quality of their marriage regarding being married to an educated woman? It's not all about money o in marriage. You want to be able to reason with your partner on certain key issues... when one is educated formally and the other is not, hmmm big wahala dey be that! |
