Foolish post

In Nigeria, the agents of destruction are not usually trained badge carrying militia. Benue people wish they had more guns to face the herdsmen

Our police are not even trained enough to use them. Licenced gun owners are usually more educated and affluent than the average policeman so please keep your pro gun control sh:t to yourself
Really, foolish post, gun control only works in a society where nobody is above the law, not the current lawless shithole of a country that you are advocating this your "solution" for

Way to go Rwanda!
Did you know Rwanda is one of the fastest growing economy in Africa?
It is neat, progressive and has a very low level of corruption.
Their capital - Kigali, one of the places I would love to visit, of course, through their airline, Rwandair.

This is a country on the rise, unfortunately, a sad incident such as the genocide had to make them recognize their potentials.

At least, they learned their lessons unlike a certain country who did not learn lessons of the civil war and continually repeating the mistakes especially under this bigoted government!

Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

I'm of the opinion that churches should be sound proof.

I live opposite a C and S church that holds vigils every Friday, you can imagine what those of us who live around them go thru.
Was in Canada for five years, passed through a church once and did not know it was a church, the place was soundproof! Was interested in their service, and I could see brotherly love and biblical tenets of salvation and redemption emphasized there unlike most churches in Nigeria.

The contruction company could be owned by the government. For example Akwa ibom Construction company, Akwa ibom Electric, Akwa Ibom transport corporation, etc. just like there's Tokyo Electric and Tokyo Construction. they would handle and maintain all construction projects .The workers would be working for the government.
That is fine but concessioned and constructed by foreigners in summary, nothing wrong in owning public assets in Nigeria, but management and construction of such assets must not be run by Nigerians if you want that asset to be sustainable and viable!

My 2 cents.

OP to start with, are you a Communicant? I'm an Anglican, tbh I have never experienced anything like this before. The criteria to receive Holy Communion in Anglican Communion is that you must be a Communicant. Conversely, some local churches have a Holy Communion class before Sunday service which is a criterion for receiving Communion.

For me, whenever I leave my local church I don't go for communion to avoid what Op just experienced, it could be embarrassing.....buried your head in shame, everyon

Why partner with China or anyone else ? Is that an achievement? why can't Nigerians build a seaport? Japanese build Japanese seaport, airports and roads, Chinese build Chinese seaports ,airports and roads. The US build American seaports, airports and roads. why always Africa partnering? Angola partners with Germany, Nigeria partners with China, Ghana partners with Sweden.
Like I said in a previous thread . The government should invest in skills acquisition such as : welding, carpentry, mechanized Agriculture, Building construction, plumbing, electrician, etc. continue using Nigerian construction companies until they master the technique- that could be in 5 or 10 years ,they'll eventually get it right . then roads would be the cheapest thing to build in Nigeria and all roads would be paved with sidewalks and traffic signs. pot holes could be fixed within a few days , bridge construction would be a walk in the park , 10 storey buildings would litter the entire place because Nigerians would have mastered the technique .
The Nigeria we know where almost everyone is fantastically corrupt? Lol.

What happened to the power sector assets that was given to Nigerians so as not to flout our useless local content laws? There is your answer.

What happened to the Telecom sector given to foreigners? Another answer.

If one wants a quality project done here as a politician, do not give them to Nigerians, we know how to cut corners and undermine projects! Let them shout local content, they did during Obasanjo's time for the Telecom privatization and we are all enjoying the services till today compared to comatose NITEL run by you guessed it - Nigerians!

My 2 cents.

Federal Ministry of Transportation / Akwa Ibom State Government

Ibom Deep Sea Port Project
(Solicited Proposal): The Ibom Deep Sea Port (IDSP) project involves the development of a Greenfield Deepsea Port and accompanying Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Akwa Ibom State in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The proposed Port and FTZ are part of the proposed Ibom Industrial City initiative that will be established on a 14,400 hectare site donated by the Akwa Ibom State Government (AKSG) at no value. The IDSP project is intended to become a major national and regional economic gateway that will provide additional container handling capacity for the country. In addition to containers, the IDSP is expected to handle petroleum products (export and import), crude oil and natural gas (export), vehicles (import) and bulk trade in natural resources (import and export).

It is planned to be the deepest port in the West African sub-region.

Ports Sector The project is currently in Procurement Phase. The Commission granted an Outline Business Case (OBC) Compliance Certificate to the project on October 8th, 2014. Thereafter, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the OBC on 11th May, 2015. The Federal Ministry of Transportation and AKSG are required to proceed to the project procurement phase. PWC has been appointed as project managers

RfQ has been advertised

Next Step: Commencement of the competitive bidding process to select a preferred proponent (Concessionaire).

Procurement
http://www.icrc.gov.ng/projects/projects-under-conceptualization-development-and-procurement/
Qualification biding for a concessionaire and the selection - smart choice!

Hope they sha don't bring politics into it like they did the power sector privatization that has remained and will remain comatose until it is reversed and given to the right people, the Murtala Muhammed Airport concessioning and the Lagos-Ibadan expressway concessioning and reconstruction.

Left to me if Maersk Shipping Line Limited Netherlands was part of bidders, they should and must be the winners of the concession bidding and concessionaire. This is because they are highly qualified and have an highly valuable experience in port management.

We can all be happy, at least I am, the requirement of 25 per cent votes in at at least 24 states of the federation is still enshrined in the constitution!

CareerRe: Injustice In My Workplace; Should I Return The Money? by yemi15(m): 6:33pm On Mar 03, 2018
bilulu:
Good morning all,

I work as a third party in an organization (firm A employed me to work for firm B). After the interview by firm A I was posted to firm B to work and I was told by firm A how much my salary is. I was happy that I have gotten a place to always resume at though the salary wasn't much.

After working in firm B for about 4 months I realised that firm A have been under paying me to the tune of almost 20,000 per month. I was short and my morale went down. I discussed it with one of the workers in firm A and he said I should wait for a perfect time to bring it to the notice of firm B.

It continued till I got that perfect time and it was about 8 months later. the moment I brought it to their notice (firm B) the manager was furious and called the manager of firm A that they must pay me back all my arrears and also with immediate effect place me on the salary on the contract.

To cut the story short, they placed me on the salary scale of the contract and they have also paid the arrears completely.

The moment I got the alert the manager of firm A called me to come over. I got their and he was telling me how the management have agreed that I should return part of the money with plenty stories. I told him I will get back to him if to return it or not.

I am so confused on what to do. If I decide to report to the manager of firm B they might decide to cancel the contract with firm A and everybody will go home. But the manager of firm B might decide to absorb me in the next contract because of the relationship I built with him overtime.

Still viewing from this other side of firm A, if I don't return the money they might decide to sack me and give nonexisting reasons though it will still jeopardise the contract.

Please I need your advice on what to do...... should I return the money or I should keep it and report to firm B on the plans of firm A?

Nairalanders pls help.....
Most recruitment agencies which is firm A in your case do that.

How else do you expect them to pay for their expenses and service of providing the job to you (instead of you job searching yourself, ask your fellow graduates how job searching alone can be, no be beans bro!)?

Sorry, I can be blunt, I can reasonably guess this job is a contract job, so what did you expect?

If you want a job where your salary is not reduced, watch out then instead for vacancies directly from the companies needing them not from recruitment agencies! This can be done by being a fixture on the job/vacancies section of this nairaland forum and other subscription job websites and even apps such as PushCV.

How the world polarise Nigeria from war and adverse hunger and poverty still baffles me. The UN should declare Nigeria as facing a mild civil war and order for assistance. Two massive school kidnaps in a space of five years shows a failure of intelligence gathering and security as a whole. Then the unrestrained killings, reprisals and counters reprisals of Fulani militias and farmers.

Well, if they are cowards which they are currently showing, this will continue to happen.

The day the Benue people learn to defend themselves yes, by buying guns in a lawless country unlike the US you defend which has laws and their citizens are important, is the day the nutcases you mentioned give them their freedom!

As you can see, I can only support proliferation of guns in a lawless society like Nigeria's or US in the 1800s, not the US in the 21st century!

An hallmark of developed societies like the US is a society where laws are followed and no one is above the law, so where in lawful societies that the US claims to be are proliferation of guns permitted?

Canada is a developed society, I was there for 5 years, gun shootings were rare then and even more rare now due to their strict gun control laws.

So, this fact makes a complete nonsense of your premise that gun control is needed for self defense! What happened to brass knuckles, pepper sprays and tasers (or stun guns) which are capable weapons in a self-defense situation?
