OdenigboAroli: Lagos is a state not a town. You cant use Lagos in this instance. Ikeja is Ikeja and so is Agege. Nobody ever refered to Agege as greater Ikeja because of their close proximity.
Moreso, there is already bad blood between Nkpor and Onitsha,Ogidi and Onitsha,Obosi and Onitsha,Iyiowa and Onitsha,Nkwelle Ezunaka and Onitsha. They wont take it lightly with you if you refer to their land as Onitsha.
Wrong, any stastistics about Lagos covers 16 or 17LGAs in Lagos apart from Epe,Ikorodu, and Badadry. I'm not counting Otta, Agbara, Mowe, Sango etc in Ogun state. Travelling from Nkpor to Awka along Limca road(Awka old road), all built up,you don't know when you get to Awka from Onitsha because the villages and towns are all merged up.A big conurbation
Remember we have an Olu of Ikeja, Oba of Agege and Lagos, so they're all different towns. They all merged with time, Same happening in onitsha
Nobody said Agege is Ikeja or Ikotun is Oshodi but are all reffered to Greater Lagos or Lagos metropolis. Same and again, Onitsha town is different from Onitsha metropolis.

whitecat007: Or they are lying about it just like ibos lie about everything. I won't be surprised if entire ibo tribe is wiped off the face of the earth for covering up lies. It will be for a common good though if these sub humans cease to exist.

OdenigboAroli: Ka Ndi Idenmili nwetakwo yi!
Mana ife ona ekwu bu eziokwu, Onitsha township and onitsha metropolis are different. Do you forcefully remove Amawbia, Okpuno, Nise, Nibo from the emerging Awka metropolis or Ikeja, mushin and Ikotun from Lagos?

room089: @ Peppyluv

Yes I agree with you: Onitsha is very big and congested; more congested than Nnewi. But often its 'bigness' is often over-rated. People do mistake some of its neighbouring towns as part of Onitsha town. Some mistake some parts of Nkpor, Ogbaru and its neighbouring towns to Onitsha.
Awada is in Obosi not in Onitsha. Greater parts of Onitsha GRA is in Nkwelle-Ezukala. Where FGGC is located is on Ogidi land. These are some of the misconceptions people have about Onitsha which need to be corrected.
What I don't understand is why would our government say it's going to site a project in Onitsha when in essence the project won't be sited in Onitsha but in a neighbouring town. What stops it from saying that the project will be sited in Nsugbe or any other place than this rationale lie.
If ANIDS is truly committed to its course of developping every sector simultaneously, I think it's high time they started to readdress such issues. If such issues are not properly handled, it may be a big problem to posterity.
Some classical examples of such lies are as follows:
Purity FM, Awka - In reality this radio station is not in Awka but in Mgbakwu.
NTA Awka - This television station is is Enugwu-Agidi not in Awka.
NOUN study-centre,Awka - The centre is in Abagana not in Awka.
You are making a mistake here, from your assertion Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi in Lagos wouldn't be Lagos but Lagos state and Lagos city restricted to only the island. Onitsha is a metropolis comprising areas like Onitsha, Ogidi, Nkpor, Awada Obosi, Oba,Ogbunike(partly), 3-3,Nsugbe, Atani road Ogbaru, Okpoko etc. Remember that Onitsha township is just enu-onicha, Fegge, Woliwo, Odeakpu, GRA, Omagba and housing estate 3-3 all within Onitsha north and south LGA. Nkpor or even Awada are far bigger than the two LGAs.So we are talking about a metropolis here and these outlining areas are where the bulk of the population lives. Same for Lagos or Abuja or any other big city.

BuddahMonk: Yes we need a well developed CBD at New and Old mkt road axis.

Port Harcourt Road is home to many banks.

Most of the roads in Nnewi need to be dualized and xpanded.
Some industrial Estates like Odume Ind. Estate Obosi need to be opened up like Harbour Ind.

Nkpor,Ogbunike, Nkwerre Ezunaka need those industrial clusters should be harmonized.
You are right on point but i think Onitsha is already too congested for now so other parts like you rightly mentioned should be developed as well. Main market should be for apparels only, every other trade should be moved out, headbridge should be for drugs alone and others moved out. Some of the industries dotting the city be moved to Obosi and Nkpor, banking district maybe 3-3 or wherever etc. Onitsha needs to be decongested. You're damn right dear.

Feraz: Chino, you know my problem with you? When you open a good thread, you derail it with insults and drag other ethnic groups into it and also you fight your brethren from your ethnic group. Someone posted that the lady is from Delta state, you should have countered with fact rather than insults. Another said he doesn't believe the three flyovers to be constructed in Awka, instead of using pictures like you use to counter people, you started insulting him and cursing that he's not from Anambra; meanwhile, the two sited above are your brothers. Someone from another side of the country brought his childishness, and you couldn't resist by ignoring him, you had to join him. It doesn't speak well of you. Not everyone that criticise the governor or the state do so out of hatred - this you should bear in mind.

For the topic, I'll be happy to see this project come to light. I'll love certain districts in Anambra to be known for something like say a banking district, manufacturing district etc. Good one from the state governor
Onitsha: commerce with the numerous big markets around, banks follow the markets so no real banking districts per se but I'd say new market road has it.
Industries, dotted around but habour industrial estate along Atani road has it.
Nnewi: industries scattered around.
Banks, forgotten
Awka: hospitality.

Chino is right, i was in Awka last weekend for a conference and work is ongoing causing that bad traffic wahala along the road especially around kwata, aroma and unizik junctions.Hope you guys noticed that flyover being constructed around New Tarzan in Onitsha.

@ Topic,

The OP created a thread and later said he was advised(PM) not to release the pics. This type of thread is unnecessary. Don't forget this is Nigeria not Europe/USA.

Read very well and do well in your post utme. I wish you best of luck. And stay out of trouble, you are too young for these.

Cheers.

Politics › Re: Consumer Potential: Three Nigerian City Clusters To Compete With Lagos by Yeske2(m): 3:40pm On Aug 05, 2014
eaglechild: Port Harcourt, Warri, Benin City, Aba, Enugu and
Onitsha make up the six city southeast cluster. Its
proximity to oil wells has led the region to be a hub
of activity for oil companies and foreign investment .
According to the report, total GDP in this cluster
alone is $63bn, which is a close rival to Lagos’s
GDP of $68bn
, [b]despite having far fewer households.
Both Port Harcourt and Aba have considerably
higher
consumption per capita than Lagos.

Taking a critical look at the above we can see that the SE/Niger Delta cluster has the highest per capita consumption and standard of living.

Note that the SE cluster has a population of about just 7-9million with a corresponding GDP of $63B vs Lagos with a population of 21million and a GDP of $68B.

That is why they said PH and Aba ( and from calculations the other cities) have a CONSIDERABLY higher per capita consumption than Lagos.
