bloodyBLOGGER:Read what she said "There are ten ways women are discriminated against in the work place. If it can be happening in the US, it is such as hell happening under your nose in Nigeria. So don't say it is not in Naija." Understand English much?! ![]() |
bloodyBLOGGER:When you have daughters you will understand that gender 'roles' is not the same as gender 'equality'. Until then enjoy and relax my broda. ![]() |
bloodyBLOGGER:Yeah, whatever makes you sleep well at night. |
bloodyBLOGGER:Wow! I never said it was the company's policy not to hire a woman, I simply said the IT lead stated that he preferred a man to be in the position. Which is discrimination by the way, private or government-owned. The Queen never said Nigeria, she was on an international platform. Go do your own research on the issue, please spare me jare. P.S: You do not have any valid arguments at all, you are just looking for points from people's comments to throw back in their faces. What are your own personal arguments against or for 'gender equality'? I have said mine, what are yours? So I can use your points against you like you did mine. |
bloodyBLOGGER:First of all, I think you are taking the word 'equality' literally. Of course, men can never not be equal to women. God never designed the family or society to be like that. We all have different roles to play in the family and society. I am an engineer and I still do my part, as a mum, wife, sister and daughter. This freak(as you have called me) have never wanted to be a man or be a transgender. I love being a woman so very much. I will never trade it for the world! I also believe in the bible that says a woman should be submissive, but it not submissive to ALL men. Like wise it said in the same chapter that men should love their wives not ALL women (this is a story for another day). Please, do not mistake 'gender roles' in a family or society as 'gender equality'. There are two entirely different things (See the definitions in my last post). You asked me about 10 programs women are being deprived of in Nigeria, but mind you, she did not give the speech in Nigeria and never even mentioned Nigeria in her speech, so it is a global issue not necessarily just in Nigeria. Come to even US, you will see inequality, India, China, Pakistan everywhere. She said this in on international platform not Nigeria, hence why I said she should have done some research first. As for the promotion you are talking about that is total BS. That is not the point of gender equality, it is simply that if a woman equally qualified or even more qualified for the job, then should be given the chance and opportunity as well. Not because she is a female, but because of her hard work and her qualifications. Many companies do not want to hire women because of many things, especially maternity leave. Many would even ask you not to marry or have kids within the first two years (which also affects husbands too..lol) even in the US. Which is pure discrimination. I once interviewed for an internship in VI during my undergrad studies for an IT position and I was told directly by the IT lead that he had asked for only men as he does not see a lady doing the duties as I would need to lift printers, computer etc sometimes. That is discrimination. I was able to get the position and also proof him wrong about doing my job as a woman. He even requested for me to come back after completing my studies! Bloody blogger, please answer me this question, would you want your daughter not to be promoted or supported just because she is a woman?Or get lesser pay to a man for a position she holds the same qualification for? That and more is what gender equality is fighting for not for women to be wearing pants in the marriage (and 'pants shouldn't be taken for the literal meaning here ). Mind you, even the King said something against gender inequality, see his comment; http://thenationonlineng.net/ooni-seeks-support-female-monarchs/As for the army, any woman who chooses to join and fight should be given equal chances if qualified. There are many women in the army in the US here, even Nigerian women here that I know personally. |
@ifebazz, I don't understand your question o. I only gave the proper definition of gender equality and equity which is often mistaken as gender roles like in the Queen's comments. Gender roles in marriage and society is different from gender equality. There are two different things entirely. |
I think the Queen should have taken time to research this topic before flying all the way to US. She heard gender-equality and she took the word 'equality' literally. We need to really be educated on the topic. According to my quick research on the topic,"gender equality is the measurable equal representation of women and men. Gender equality does not imply that women and men are the same, but that they have equal value and should be accorded equal treatment. The United Nations regards gender equality as a human right". As for gender equity, "it is the process of allocating resources, programs and decision-making fairly to both males and females. This requires ensuring that everyone has access to a full range of opportunities to achieve the social, psychological and physical benefits that come from participating and leading in sport and physical activity. It does not necessarily mean making the same programs and facilities available to both males and females. Gender equity requires that girls and women be provided with a full range of activity and program choices that meet their needs, interests and experiences". See the links below for more info on the topic; http://www.caaws.ca/gender-equity-101/what-is-gender-equity/ http://www.ippf.org/static/GenderReport/index.html |

shelly23: I'm also considering Orlando. Unfortunately, the hospitals there are very expensive and from my research so far, they're not inclined to give discounts to self pay patients, their costs are fixed.@Shelly23 I found a hospital for my sister close to Miami. It is a long drive from Orlando though, but is seems pretty cheap. They charge $2300 for Standard Delivery & $3200 for Cesarean Delivery. If you go for this hospital please consider the distance from Orlando. I will keep you posted if I find any closer to Orlando. Check this link for more info; http://www.hialeahhosp.com/en-US/ourServices/medicalServices/Pages/MaternityServices.aspx |
@Shelly23 Thanks a lot for the info. That was really sweet of you. I will let you know if we find something good in Orlando. Thanks again. Pls can someone give more info? It will be highly appreciated. |
Hello everyone, I have a sister that is planning to have her child in US by next year Feb. She is looking at Florida. Please can you direct me to anyone that has experience in having a baby in Florida. which hospitals can she go to? Or is there a link to good and reasonable hospitals? she is looking at Orlando, FL. Also can anyone please answer the following questions; 1. I know she is applying for a medical visa but does she need a doctor's referral letter from her doc in Nigeria to show at the embassy? 2. What general documents does she need to take with her to the Embassy for her visa? 3. Her husband will be flying in a few days before the due date, can he also go with her to get his B-1 visa at the embassy? 4. Does it matter that she was denied a US student visa for her Master's degree earlier this year? She and her husband have travelled to different countries and had never overstayed. I have tried to get the answers to the questions by going through the pages in the thread, but you will all agree that it would take a whole month to go through all the over 150 pages. And also, everyone's case is unique that was why I said I was going to ask instead of guessing. Thanks everyone! |
wow! what a kill-joy. |

adagz 01:] ^^^^lol 100% true! well, maybe his roommate is gay or the guy himself his.I have a roommate, she has her room and i have mine but sometimes we watch movies late in some nights after studying and sometimes she and I sleep on each other's bed. She aint a lesbian so I dont have anything to fear.she has a boyfriend and I have never seen her 'exhibit' any sign of lesbianism and neither do I have any. But if the poster's roommate has the 'gay traits', the guy should run o, unless he himself is gay o! |

Hi y'all, I have been following this thread carefully from the beginning and I thank God for the great contributors here. You guys really helped me with alot of info. I was rejected last yr at the BHC due to the tax doc i submitted with my application.I thought that was the end of the world, but today 9 months later i have my US visa. I was skeptical of using the same passport in order to avoid issues, but i trusted God and went ahead. It was all God!!! My advice to ppl out there is that when you are rejected at an embassy it's not the end world. God might just be preparing you for the best like He did for me. I would like to thank ppl like Akolawole,FunkyBaby, kadman, presjany, shawamma,Ojewole, others and even vikoviko who rose to help me out of the tax clearance mess. |
